I already got stung purchasing a Samsung Galaxy A10e. I didn't realize that it can't be OEM unlocked.
Hopefully now I am a little wiser.
There is a page on rooting A20s here:
[Guide] Quick root and TWRP for the Galaxy A20 (Android 9,10 & 11)

So I assume the A20 can be rooted.
I am trying to be a little wiser before buying now.
I am looking at two models of the A20 on ebay:

Is there any question I should ask the vendor before buying these phones, or should I just go ahead and buy one of them?
SM-A205 "U" variant is the only one known to have issues with ROOT. I suggest not purchasing this version.

A205U cannot be rooted
Boy, it would have been nice to know that a few days ago before I bought one.
I assumed that since you have a section dedicated to the Galaxy A20 that it can be rooted. There is even a guide on how to root it.
However now that I have one in front of me I see that it cannot be OEM unlocked.
How can I know if a Samsung phone can be rooted?

You certainly are unlucky.
A205g would have been a better choice
All the A205g's that I see are GSMs and they don't work with Boost Mobile. I found this one:
Robot or human?
www.walmart.com
But they are out of stock. Boost Mobile is currently having a sale on the A11 model. Is that rootable or is there a specific model of the A11 that can be rooted?

The only option there seems to be is buying the samsung galaxy s4 dual sim from this seller etotalk.
I would like to query whether anyone has bought this phone from this seller and their experience.
Thanks

HI thanks for the info
Yet you use it in europe - and did you buy it with a custom rom pre-installed?
Ken
Got one from Etotalk.com; very happy with it and all is genuine!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Me too. Had it rooted and have their custom rom installed. Have some minor issues with the rom but nothing serious.
Verstuurd van mijn GT-I9502 met Tapatalk
A week or so ago I also bought a GT-I9502 from etotalk and got a very good impression of them considering the natural obstacles of sending stuff from China, customs, paying with Paypal etc. Got the phone just after a few days, sent by DHL.
You can ask them to send it as a "gift", declaring a lower than actual value of your choice, which might make things slip through customs easier/cheaper/less VAT slapped on.
Bought it in stock version and rooted/ROMed it myself, using this procedure and with SVA's excellent ROM that you buy for a few $.
In certain (most?) countries the GT-I9502 doesn't show CallerID properly as the phone's software platform is made for China, but I've done a patch for that, see this post.
Hi there guys,
Hope you all are having a good day.
So the thing is that I decided on getting myself a Note 3 (the international version). I sought the add out on Amazon and will be purchasing it soon.
Could someone who has an idea about the import tell me as to how much will the final price be that I have to pay after the custom clearance? I really need to know this before buying it. The on-shelf price of the Note 3 on the website is $705 and the seller is 'mygsmstore'.
It would be a great help. I can't ask questions on the website as I haven't yet bought anything from amazon.
Hi there,
I am also trying for the same. if you refer to my question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47783662, I am trying to get this from Expansys.
Let me know if you are interested and/or want to pursue this!
Thanks,
Ckhurana
Even I was thinking of the same, however there are quite a few problems.
1. How good is the retailer. As we will lose all warranty since its a USA product. So we need to be pretty sure of genuineness of the product.
2. Customs is quite tricky. I have searched and could barely find a convincing answer about the customs aspect on importing the phone
3. Region Locking- Samsung region locks the device. i.e. if we get it from USA, how will we get a US sim to unlock it.
Would be glad if some community member can help us.

is that so well as i recall it i could see a number of sellers who directly import unused and unopened Note 3 from the US, only extra cost which the customer may need to pay is OCTROI if applicable.

Hi,
I see that you have ordered note3 N9005, even I am planning to buy one from US. But there are two main concerns, first, is this a genuine Samsung phone? Second, about region lock policy of Samsung.
So, please let me know did you face any region lock problem and how is your phone working so far (could you check your phone with android app which verify the originality of Samsung phone). If your phone is good, I can order from the same seller.
Hello folks,
My gf's sister will come from NY at the beggining of april probably first week so i need to order a g2 soon. Smartphones are very expensive in my country due to nonsense taxes for example unlocked LG G2 32GB D802 is nearly $818 So you would understand why i want to buy phone from abroad.
I've considered three phones including Nexus 5 (actually ordered one and than cancelled), Sony Xperia Z1 Compact and finally choose to get a LG G2. I have some questions for you...
1- Where can i get a genuine unlocked 32GB LG G2 D802 with good price from a trusted seller ? By good price i mean under $500.
I found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190985045933
and this: amazon
But in the comments of amazon a buyer wrote that this is not a D802, it is a D801 so i loose my trust on amazon seller. Problem here is i need to buy from a trusted seller because i may not have enough time to return a phone and get a new one plus i don't want to cause trouble to my gf's sister. She recently had a baby and last thing i want is to bother her with shipping it back than and checking a new phone if it is proper.
2- - I will be using G2 in Turkey and in here market is full of D802. I guess best suitable option is D802 isn't it ? What is main difference between unlocked variants of G2 ? I searched a little bit and found out network bands are different and most capable one is D802. Am i right ?
3- One more quick question. What is amount of user available space in 16gb and 32gb versions ?
Thank you for your interest
Cheers...

Try Amazon
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_p...749011&ie=UTF8&qid=1395249148&rnid=2528832011
Hey guys,
So last week I bought a note 4 off eBay. My last note 4 was lost on a night out in September (21st, never forget ) so I have been using my s4 ever since. I miss the size and display of the note 4, hence i bought a new one.
Here's the link:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282075151295
My last note 4 was the SM-N910F,which I also purchased from eBay (UK seller, it was an auction). The note 4 that i bought last week also claims to be an SM-N910F, the European/international version. The seller is Chinese and has sold a good few of these, he also has great feedback (see link). The phone is said to be brand new, in original box with all OEM accessories. I was feeling a bit iffy, I don't know why, in the days after I bought it so I messaged the seller asking about the authenticity etc. Part of the reply worried me:
". . . . . . . . . . I would like to remind you again, our Note 4 is 100% original from Samsung, but please note that our Note 4 is USA model + software unlocked(Rooted), as described in our item specific . . . . . . . . . ."
Now in the item description, the model number is SM-N910F, and not one of the American models, like SM-N910V or SM-N910A. But the seller says it an American version. So there's that. Also the seller says that the software is "unlocked(rooted)". This is my main concern. Is the seller simply trying to tell me that the phone is unlocked, or is he telling me that he has taken the phone out of the box, rooted it and flashed some kind of custom ROM on it? Just take a quick look at the link and have a look at it on ebay and tell me what you think.
Many thanks.
I do not trust these so called sellers selling "brand new" phones. The phone is brand new and already rooted? Its a US model claiming to be a European model?
Let me tell you what you bought...you bought a refurbished phone (refurbished in China) and because the US models are less wanted than the EU models (lack of Hotspot) they sell these as EU models to increase the price.
These refurbished phones are "brand new" but are in reality refurbished with cheap clone parts from China. Its big business in China. I bought a Note 2 like this...after 2 months I had touchscreen problems and the 3G is not working...
Download the app phone info, it will give you the manufacturing date (mainboard), model number and a lot more if your phone is rooted. It will also tell you if its a V, F, or A model...
You can simply go to download mode and check the real model of the device.. i also bought one the seller claimed it's N910F everything looked okay but when i went to download mode it was N910S (sprint) immediately i returned the device to the seller and received my refund..

Hello,
i would like to get myself the G6.
But i'm not sure wether to get the H870 (European model) or the DS model?
You could count the Pros and Cons, but its more a decision of wether to root and use custom ROMs or not?
What about updates/upgrades?
Just share your opinions to help me decide! :fingers-crossed:
PS:
I don't use/need VoLTE.

It depends on what you need...
Spoiler
H870 pros:
- Updates
- Bootloader Unlock: Possible
H870DS pros:
- Quad Dac
- 64GB of internal memory
- Dual Sim
So, if you need root or like modding in general go for an European H870, if not, go for the H870DS, if you have no interests in both pros go for the one which cost less.
My vote is for H870, don't need 32GB since i don't use heavy apps and have tons of storage on my pc and use a 64GB Microsd, also don't need QuadDac or the second sim.

It's better not, the possibility of bricking are very high, also what's the point of doing this? It wouldn't allow the bootloader unlock if that was your thinking, that is an IMEI limited thing
Thank you for your answer
To answer your question I would like to have the EU version because it seems to have more update than version TWN.

In any case I wouldn't advise that, after all the H870 has 32GB only, no dual SIM and no quad dac, so even if you don't brick the phone you would have a software limited phone.
I concur. I think it's a very bad idea, not sure you could even flash it anyways. You'll get your own updates in time, why bother about that?
I got the H870, because of the unlocked bootloader
There is no reason at all to get the European version unless you really need to unlock your bootloader. The DS version is superior. I've had both. Sold the European version and got the DS and could not be happier about it. This also send signals to LG for their region crap.
The main reason to buy a h870 instead of h870ds, if you're living in Europe, is the guarantee or a lack of it on h870ds. Spending £300 or more without any guarantee is gambling.
The sellers are putting in various forms of warranties on the H870DS, most of them offering a year of "seller's warranty". Considering the price of purchase, I'd say it's pretty good. You'll probably run into less problem returning it to a seller on eBay, who wouldn't want to risk getting negative feedback, than talking to LG customer support, which in some cases seem that they couldn't care less about your faulty phone.
The Ebay sellers are located in HKG, e.g. in guarantee case you or he have/has to send it for repair to HKG. 2-4 weeks without smartphone. EBay 12 months, EU 24 months guarantee, etc...

The sellers are shipping from Ireland or the UK, and if I were ever to return it over warranty issues, that's where I'd send it.
Gr8 idea, you send to Irland, UK, France or wherever. Your dealer ships it to HKG for repair = 2-4 weeks without your phone.

Yes, I got it from ebay, because I didn't trust the shady cheap websites. Others have successfully ordered from the shady websites, so you can give it a try if you're brave enough: eglobalcentral. Although I don't see the H870 model at them right now.

Well, if you send your faulty phone to LG, you can rest assure that it'll take some time to get it back as well, since LG doesn't do any repairs themselves. Depending on the issue, the eBay seller might send you a new phone instead of shipping it to Hong Kong. As I've said before, the eBay sellers are far more sensitive to negative feedback than LG, and more commonly known to try to satisfy their buyers.
As much as I'd love to have 64 gigs and dual sim, I spent €40 extra to get the 32 gig single sim, just to be able to unlock the bootloader.
I wouldn't hesitate a second to order with eglobal to get the DS if I felt I didn't need root access.
IMO the price difference compensates for not having warranty so the extra storage and dual sim make it a no brainer.
But yeah, bought the EU version anyway.
