Hi all,
can anyone help please as my original shield tv won't install any new apps, and won't even load the Google Play store. It's got 6GB free space
It's completely stock software wise, and hardware wise I have recently added a USB -> SSD Hard drive as i was worried about running out of space for apps.
thanks in advance.

Out of box there is about 380mb, but there is bloat that can be removed once rooted. If everything non OS/ Google app related were removed (including Sony play software), how much could be added to the 380mb? There are a ton of great emulators already out. Those would cover for gaming and then the extra space could be for other user chosen apps.
All that would need to be retained are drivers for the hardware.
Although i think rooting is great for overclocking purposes, i don't see the need of it for emulation.
Everything up to the N64 works great on the Xperia Play. What advantages to emulation would rooting the phone provide?
Freeing up memory.
2 days after it got my Play I had all the apps installed that I had on my hero & a few Xplay enabled games.
I had 40mb internal storage left.
Safe to say I shat myself thinking that after another 4 or 5th game downloads i would have to start managing space by deleting things.
Then I used the SDK to setinstalllocation2 & moved mostly everything to SD, taking memory up to 130mb.
Rooting & doing away with some bloat (but nothing as hardcore as op suggested) has now taken me to 156mb internal, and 99% of what I install now goes to sd.
I now have plenty of internal space for widgetty apps etc, i doubt I'll ever have storage troubles (apart from when my 32gb sd just isn't big enough) and I now have brilliantly white underpants!
Got 183 MB free, could be more if I deleted the standard installed games but removed a lot of bloatware (also installed a lot off apps I want, they all take a bit off space).
what are the bloatwares that you remove and how can you remove them after rooting the phone?
in regards with game emulators, the phone slows down a bit on some psx games.
This is about the lack of storage. Everyone seems to be happy with the plugging in of the usb and removing it whenever it is not needed. This to me seems long as you have to pen a file manager to see your files and obviously cannot install apps on it. I was wondering if we could put the actual android os onto the stick so we boot the phone off of it so we can also install apps? Just an idea.

For that to work you would need OTG working, it isn't supported currently. Even the 8GB model has more than enough storage for system files, apps and their associated data; its people that like to carry around huge music or video libraries that find it inadequate. BTW box.com is offering 50GB of free storage for any LG phone this month, embrace the cloud people.
Hi guys, I did a bit of a search but I couldn't find any threads actually discussing the merits of this phone, hence my creation of this thread.
So first off, is this phone even worth using, or should I just give up on it and buy a better one? The internal hardware isn't that great; the only reason I got it is it was cheap, and it's my first smartphone haha. I'm trying to play Ingress on it, but they don't scale their UI at all so it's kind of hard to play on the small screen, and it can be kind of slow as well.
Secondly, what OS would you recommend using? The problem with the default Android OS is the memory partitioning: there's 1GB of memory on the phone, but it's partitioned into System Memory (150MB) and the rest is internal memory. All the preloaded apps are on System Memory, so when they update they fill up the System Memory and I have to uninstall the updates. Also some of the apps I download get installed to System Memory and I can't move them to internal memory, very frustrating.
Looking forward to whatever advice you guys can give me! Cheers.
Use stock OS with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250759, less lag than 4.0.4.

Try SDMERGE
Just got my new Madcatz Mojo. I have a 64GB SD memory card . I cannot install or move apps from local memory to SD Card. I am trying to set it up similar to the Ouya where it gives you the choice of where to install apps? Does this require root? The 16GB is great but still not enough Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

format it with the mojo, might need to install a 3rd part app to do it, it should be fat32.
I use the free version of foldermount. It lets you mount 3 apps. I believe that if you get the pro version you can mount more. Root is required

I have tried a application manager? It sees the SD Card rather connected via USB or SD Card slot no problem. When I go into the Application Manager on the Mojo the applications/downloaded/Move to SD Card is not available as a option?
Can you recommend a program for formatting the SD Card on the Mojo? If you have used a Ouya I would like it to give this option at download if possible as Ouya does? I do like the Mojo but the software is in bad need of some serious cleaning up? I'm just partial to NVidia

Oh, I use titant backup, it's good habit anyway making a backup of working apps after an update anyway.
maybe someone on lollypop can replay?
I formatted mine to Fat32 on my PC with fat32formatter or something like that.
Paid for Foldermount which is easy and great! Have walking Dead (season 1 & 2), Game of Thrones, all Grand Theft Autos, as well as another 20+ (big) games on there now.
Still have about 8GB free on the MOJO. You need root though.
As anyone experience a foldermount glitch that after a while of usage it suddenly destroyed the files on the micro SD card. This is so annoying, and I'm really pissed at Mad Catz for not giving us a solution to these problems. What I mean is they should know that 16gb isn't going to get you far downloading these huge 2.5gb games on the Play Store. Then I have to mention, why make a system if you can't even support it after launch?

Any problem with that app on your end? All my game install files that I moved with that app failed on me eventually. If the game data is going to remove itself with these apps then there is really no solution to adding more storage to MOJO.
You should be able to boot up the Mojo and just have it work? Why supply the expansion slots then a OS that doesn't support it? Madcatz support has been very polite but no help at all so far?
So, everyone jumps through hoops trying to make it work but many (such as I) are still learning android.

Someone else had the same issue!
But, I've had the mojo for over a year now, with the same fat32 32GB SDcard, and it never deleted anything on it.
I don't use foldermount, I use titanium backup and all (even larger) apps work fine.
It might be a foldermount issue?

What program do you use to format with the Mojo? Also do you have applications installed on the card?

Don't have access to mojo, but try google setup - storage, I think has a format option.
Got a new MXPE (upgraded from 16gb to 32gb). My 16gb never showed up in the My Devices list in the Play Store on the web, but it did show up in the Android Device Manager on the web. Now my new 32gb is doing the same thing. I can't install apps from the webstore version of the Play Store, but I can find my phone via ADM. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I've already done the data wiping of Play Store, Play Services, and Download Manager.
EDIT: Solved the issue, but I don't know how!
