I updated my headunit today via this post.
All is working great except my sound. I tried both the normal sound settings and the dolby settings. on the normal sound settings my sound is really low compared to before the update. when i start dolby and enable it, its louder but not great still.
But when i turn it from 19/20 i get a weird sound. like my speakers turn on again but with the sound from before the update. i get more bass and the sound is more clear in general.
when i turn it back down to 19 It's bad again.
Could this be a problem with dolby? or with the update?
Anyone got an idea? Can't figure it out.
Thanks!

The sound levels must be connected with these two.
When I first upgraded to Lollipop both the camera shutter sound and Google now were silent, all the volume levels were up. Then when I upgraded to the latest OE3, I did a factory reset and then the camera shutter made the sound and also Google now spoke the answers. Now a month later they have both suddenly stopped working again, silent, did not change any settings. It's just those two sounds as all the other sounds and working fine.
It can't be just me with this problem can it?
Does anyone else find the sound through the phone speaker to be extremely loud and a lot of background noise?
I'm on Helios ROM with Apollo kernel.
In case anyone is interested... I fixed this lol.
You turned down the volume?

Not far off. Developer setting in viper4android appeared to keep phone audio high and fizzy. Turning it off aspirated to stop it for some reason.
audio is now ok after a full factory reset , but still led notifikation light problem use this fix

Hello all ZF3 owners,
I own ze520kl model and It is just me or sound is terrible after updating to Android 7? I have (almost) no bass sounds, anyone else feels this kind of difference? Equalizer makes a little of difference, but not like previously did on Android 6.0.
2 different set of headphones and 2 different player apps.
Regards,
Dan.
Others reported the same.
Looks like I have to hold on to update my phone.
The Android N update for the Zenfone 3 enables AudioWizard audio processing with wired headphones, meaning that any EQ you have on your phone's speakers will carry over to the headphones. There also may be a bug that activates certain AudioWizard presets on headphones without warning. Either way, you can fix the problem of headphone audio sounding tinny or weird by going into the Sound and Vibration settings menu while your headphones are plugged in, and selecting AudioWizard. Once in AudioWizard, set the preferences to your liking or just select Pure mode if you don't want any EQ or anything like that.
Big thanks, it worked like a charm!
Regards!

Will try that settings. Thanks for the advice. :good::good::good:
Sorry for reviving this old thread. I updated to Nougat the day I got this phone and learned that audio quality is worse than my last phone, even with AudioWizard set to Pure. Will audio sound better with the AudioWizard app and service disabled?

I also found two audio packages, "com.asus.maxxaudio" and "com.asus.maxxaudiowizard" which I can't disable via ADB because I'm not rooted.
So there used to be a cool trick I used to do in EMUI 5.1 using an app called earpieace.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.Earpiece
Basically, Huawei probably has a sort volume booster during calls and it went to effect if you used that app. Since you weren't in a call, it would apply to media playback instead (This is just speculation though). But now in EMUI 8 it's gone and we're back to the crappy audio we used to have with the Mate 10 Lite and Honor 7x. You didn't even need to use the app's volume booster function, just turn on audio through earpiece, plug in a headphone, and get insanely better sound. But now, unfortunately, it's gone.
Edit: The moment I turn on audio through earpiece, the sound jumps a little but then goes back to the usual volume. Can anyone help me with this?
Edit 2: It also seems Huawei reduced the volume, bass, and treble from the earpiece. Also, I need to mention that doing this did not harm my phone in any way. The volume booster of the app actually decreased the sound and I used this trick for many days without my phone ever getting any weird audio problems and no distortion whatsoever. It's also good to know that this audio boosting was done by the phone itself and not any app.
Ahh damn I'm going miss this so much
