Now that Samsung has officially announced the release of the 3.1 update for the Note 20 series (Sammobile), let's have a competition for who can guess most accurately when the first region of our N9860s will get it.
I'll start off. Let's hope I am being pessimistic.

sakitech has posted a good video about it on Youtube. I am looking forward to the object eraser tool.

I'm guessing March 26.
By the end of the this month we all get it..... In my dreams
Man thats the only thing i was looking forward too, was the google feed toggle because samsung free is so booty. But sadly looks like thats only gonns be exclusive to the new phones that come out this year for now smh.

If only gestures worked perfectly, right now it's a quick flashing every time you swipe to go home when using Google gestures.
You don't get the flashing if you wait around 1-2 second before touching the screen after swiping home.
I don't know, I don't use gestures.
Its live now guys 3.1

Yep, stuck at verifying phone number but I remember I had the same problem on 3.0 and then it fixed by itself later..
Let's see if same thing will happen. I got snapdragon.
Gotta say the phone feels much smoother again. There were always some hick ups with 3.0 for me even after factory reset.
Now it feels just like 2.5 where everything is smooth and this is without factory reset. I would recommend everyone to update.

After many days trying to verify the number, rcs works for me now.
It's the same when I updated to 3.0, took few weeks or something and then it just magically activated and works.

I just stumbled across this today and so far I really like it. I was using the Trebuchet launcher on Thor's ICS v96, and although it does have a lot of customization it is slightly laggy. So far Go Launcher HD is running super smooth with no noticeable lag.

It appears there is very minimal options available (It is a BETA, I will forgive them)
Themeing is not a option, yet.. Maybe keep an eye out.
I like the new dock, but they need to use more of the screen for available widgets, utilizing ALL of the screen.
I can compare say, Stock Launcher, to GoLauncher Ex, where the margins on the side are smaller, giving more space, maybe I am insane. At this stage, I have set up something, but I am not a huge fan and will go back to GoLauncherEX until they sort out the theme issue and give us more options. Hopefully they can implement all those of the normal EX and maybe some more? EG, making wallpapers work better (most of us are faced to use Multipicture Live to correct incorrect showing wallpaper)
in short, it is good, but not great.. yet. Hopefully with updates, this is fixed
It's only a beta but so far so good. I'm sure themes will be an option down the line, and I agree that the top and bottom margins are way too big.
Really like it can't wait to see what happens next really sleek and fast launcher compared to the phone ver. On tablets...

You'll be on 4.3 for a long time. The Chromecast issue doesn't affect everyone equally and according to this post it's not even listed as an identified issue in Samsung's problem tracking system.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. I understand that you are experiencing “com.android.systemui” error on the Galaxy Note 10.1 while using Chromecast to play music/ movies on TV.
I have checked the information in our database and see that, there are no reported cases with Samsung about the Chromecast issue. However, I will provide you troubleshooting steps, please perform them on the device and check if that resolves the issue.

Samsung dropped lock screen widgets starting with the Pro's. The SGS5 and Tab 4's don't have them either. So unless a dev figures out how to get them back for people that are rooted they're pretty much gone.
I tried a friends Chromecast (I don't use it) and I don't have the issue people are describing. While casting I can open the notification panel and change the volume. I upgraded vs. doing a full wipe and still have the lock screen widgets on 4.4. I lost Daynote which is supposed to be there and I'd rather have it than the widgets. I'm betting if I hard reset the lock screen widgets will go away and Daynote will come back. Maybe you'll get lucky and the widgets will remain after you upgrade.
I expected to never receive a viable update when I bought it. Samsung is not known for their great product support. If there had been an updated Nexus 10 released, I wouldn't even be here, but Google left the 10 inchers out to dry it seems.
That being said, Chrome is now apparently abandoning tablet users as well. It feels like Google has given up on the tablet market altogether. Maybe that guy talking about looking to Windows for his next tablet has the right idea :-\
Indeed my bookmark icons on my Note 10.1 and Note 3 look horrible. Really a bummer of astronomical proportions. On my Note 3 it already looks silly. and on my tablet it is like a go back 10 years in time.
Google's response is this is the new UI, get used to it.
Fantastic. Google continues to ignore tablets.
Here is Chrome 34 in case anyone wants to revert https://www.dropbox.com/s/eubrrska2yn4x1j/com.android.chrome-df9bf246a7ea41035ce899f77c9b901c.apk.gz
Google Chrome seems to need some help here as you all gang up on it..
I really like the new look and find it much more usefull, you have everything at hand just over the buttons and easy to scroll thru. Much easier and a better solution to handle the bookmarks I think.

If that's Google's reponse they can have it. No Chrome for me anymore and removed it from my devices. I hope hundreds of million of us will do the same. That will change their mind. And like I said, it looks like if I go back in time for 10 years.

We should get a CM 12S ROM via OTA. The newly announced ROM is for places like India where cyanogen and oneplus have have been having issues with agreements. It will most likely be available for all for download though.
Good cause a big reason I bought this phone was to have cyanogen as stock ROM.
We can probably stick with whatever ROM you're using and you'll get OTA for it. But if you're already on CM and want to switch, I assume you'll need to flash OP's ROM before you can get OTA from them. I don't think there will be a CM -> OP ROM migration path.

Can't really tell that much from the pics to be honest. Im guessing you could probably use nova and an icon pack if things dont look that nice. Plus in the pics it looks like the hardware buttons are being used, would like to see the dock and nav buttons. Will probably being going with the one in the video below anyway this, guessing that this is CM12S as it looks a lot more like stock 5.0.

I use Samsung's default messaging and you can tell the version by going to Settings -> Display and wallpaper -> Always on display -> About always on display
It should be 1.4.02, yours looks like it's not up to date.
From the About always on display menu there should be an option to update if it's not up to date

According to someone in the Sprint thread its for Google Maps/Navigation stability and fixes.
That it does. It has to do with navigation and swipe. Nothing big.

It's a really big security patch for one of the largest Android vulnerabilities too. I'm glad it enhances swipe, the samsung keyboard is particularly inaccurate on this phone.
Does NOT patch BlueBorne Vulnerability!!!!
Installed the update this morning. It does NOT eliminate the BlueBorne vulnerability, unless Armis' scanner is broken ...
EDIT: Contacted Armis and received the following in response:
Armis Security said:
We have reviewed this. It appears that Verizon pushed a critical update that addresses BlueBorne. However, in our review they did not change the security patch level of this build to September 1, 2017. The Security Patch Level (SPL) in build NMF26X.N950USQU1AQI5 shows a date of August 1, 2017.
We have updated our device scan and review to account for this, and it will be available on the Google Play store shortly.
Thank you for reaching out us on this issue.

EDIT #2: An updated version of the BlueBorne Scanner from Armis is available on Google Play. I've installed it, but unfortunately it still indicates that VZW devices are vulnerable.
UPDATE: Armis' app has been updated to version 1.04, which correctly identifies VZW Note 8s as having been patched to eliminate the vulnerability.
It changed my 4GLTE icon so that it is constantly highlighted even on Wi-Fi. I don't think that was present before unless I'm mistaken
