For few months I used stock N9860 (CHC), but after the Android 11 update Android Auto stopped working (in the car). I guess because of the side loaded of the Play Market etc. Resets, reinstalls etc. didn't help. So I've decided to accept the black side
Installed TGY Android 11 firmware (btw, downgrade to Android 10 is possible), rooted using @Mentalmuso TWRP and Magisk (now the phone shows scary red messages during the boot sequence , fixed SafetyNet check with the proper attestation so file and added native call recording and network indicator to the cscfeatures.xml.
As a result, Android 11 works fine, Android Auto works, Google Pay works etc.
And no more Samsung Pay, Samsung Pass and Secure Folder (I never use them).
Why I haven't done it earlier?
Don't you lose stuff like Netflix in HD, some banking apps, some games and so on.
I'm totally fine with TGY, android auto, banking apps, Samsung pay, Samsung secure folder and so on.
But if you are happy, then great for you!
As long as SafetyNet check is passed with the latest Google security updates it shouldn't be any issues with the apps. I see the Netflix in Play matket at least. (but I have no single reason to use it because of their territory based restrictions and availability of the plex + radarr + sonarr etc.)
The only inconvenience I have is the scary texts during the boot of the device

What network are you on?
Would you be able to point out on instructions on how to root our great device? I had S8, S10e and never rooted them but now since one fellow XDA member found a hack on how toake eSIM work I'm going to root but don't know how.
P.S. Also I'm on CHC region so Samsung Pay is useless for me there and I never used secure folder and stuff from Samsung.
A week has been passed since I rooted the device. So far so good. No issues, no glitches...

Mind sharing how you did it, mate?
Regardless of SafetyNet you will lose function of some Samsung app like secure folder or Samsung pay because it blows the fuse for Knox, after its blown there is no way to get it back. But if you don't care about those then I guess it's a win win.

Really, I was not aware you could get around it. I was always under the impression once you trip Knox their is no way to get it back.
I'm actually happy to be wrong lol.
I've finally figured out the root cause of the issue I have and this is because of the "root", unfortunately.
To make Google Pay working, I need to apply "Universal SafetyNet Fix", it effectively disables hardware ctsProfile attestation and SafetyNet is green - Google Pay works fine. But. This fix breaks some crypto workflow internals (JNI can't check signature etc.) and StrongSwan VPN client can't do reauth (if you use certificate based authentication) - after the initial connect, in AUTH_LIFETIME timeout (usually it is 10-20 minutes), VPN tries to reauth and can't, so connection hangs.
So I have a sad choice - either Google Pay or VPN. I'll try to look into the sources of the fix and vpn client (both are open) but it takes so much time (workaround is to diasable ipsec reauth, but it weakens the security).
Any ideas much appreicated.

try using this module to pass safetynet instead. This worked for me but I am not using that VPN so can not really check.

Uninstall any versions of the 5 apks mentioned below.
Download this zip file:

Open or extract it and install the apks in this order:
account manager 4.0.3
framework 4.0.4
play services 7.3.29
playstore 4.3.10
youtube 10.16.53
Reboot the tablet.
Go to youtube and you should get that normal google account login screen.
Login and presto! There you have it latest youtube apk with sign in ability.
Hasn't crashed on me (yet), but play store does not work (I've tried a few versions).
Yes I am aware of that youtube app with the blue icon in the amazon app store but I wasn't satisfied with it.
I haven't tried any other google apps yet with this combo.
I really hope this works for others. I just spent the last 5-6 hours figuring this out and it's now nearly 2am.
works for me
Youtube works.
Not for playstore gmail.
Oh that's cool I'm glad it's worked for others.
I just wanted to give something back to this forum cause I've gone to it so many times myself.
Found a gmail apk that works

Chrome should work regardless of framework (at least it did last time I tried). If not try Opera. Same underlying engine (Chromium) with a different skin.

That command is for Google+ to work. It's not needed if you don't use G+. But at least you provided newer versions.
Is it just me, or does doing this break other apps? Skype won't work properly (no contacts or message history), TuneIn radio won't even get past the initial screen. Why is this happening? Sorry I'm new to this stuff.
I should add that uninstalling these packages then causes everything to work again, so it does seem to be causing it.

Installing Google framework/services/store/etc on Fire OS is always a crap shoot as Amazon has its own set of conflicting services. Many get it to work (at least partially) while others experience problems. Installing framework/services on an unrooted device presents additional challenges....but also adds a layer of safety as you can typically install/experiment/uninstall without serious consequences. Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your current situation; responding to "why is this happening?". You'll probably get it to work eventually with help from others.
That makes sense. I did manage to get Skype 5.1 working but anything after that breaks. Must have added a new feature since then that gets into that services conflict you mention. No luck with TuneIn, though I found an alternative for that.

If your family is looking for unfettered access to the play store you should definitely look for another device. It will be awhile before alternative roms become available to newer Kindles and most play store implementations are hacks at best. While the hardware is wonderful you really have to be wed to the Amazon ecosystem to truly appreciate the device (or be fortunate enough to have an 'older' model that can be rooted/unlocked and run a Google friendly rom).

If you are comfortable with 1moble (one of my favorite 'alternative' marketplaces) then many of the shortcomings inherent with the Amazon store can be mitigated. Chrome (more often Gmail) can get fussy without google services/framework. Opera is a nice alternative that utilizes the same core engine as Chrome. Gmail is a little tougher to directly emulate; plenty of alternatives if the Gmail app coughs up a fur ball (I happen to like Aquamail). You really don't need root but if you choose to do so Xposed framework adds a few nice touches that can further tame an HDX without compromising native functionality.
Hope it works out for you folks.
You can run Google services framework without root. People have been having issues with the newer builds however. If it does not work for you, try build version 7.0.99.

That will work for now (thanks @lekofraggle for the tip) but be aware Google is quickly adapting apps to leverage capabilities introduced in newer builds of services framework. For now that appears confined to Maps and Google Now (eg: card features) and primarly targets Lollipop.
You are welcome. I know about the impending issue with Google play services. Hopefully they fix the issues soon. Google maps works for now but complains.

The developer needs to implement a license to be able to use
Knox abilities, if you understand what I mean..
generall all apps in main list of Setting > Apps are safe to disable

There are 2 different licenses that the developer can use, not you.
https://seap.samsung.com/program-overview
But I now think that it's not a licensing problem, but an update problem. Android N uses a new version of Knox, if that isn't implemented in the app, it won't work.
What's new https://seap.samsung.com/sdk/knox-standard-android
The dev finally replied, and said I need to upgrade to version 7.3 (from 7.0). But that's a completely new app in the Play Store, and Google wants to charge me for it. Hardly seems fair to pay a second time for the app I already paid for once. We'll see what the dev says, but this isn't the first time he's played games with changing the name of the app and putting it in the store as a new program, instead of an upgrade.

I am also using package disabler pro on S7 with N. I got the latest version from the store and it seems to do the job. But what I read from your post, they can just do this magic when they use Knox? Is this correct? Why is this? When you first start the app, you have to agree to KLMS which is part of knox.... Now I see in my running processes that I have Knox running in the background? I am not really sure if I like this. I bought this app to get rid of Samsung things like Knox?!??!

Those apps use the Knox SDK(see Settings->Software Info for the sdk version) . This gives the developer the possibility to use some abilities that normally only system apps have, eg. Disable apps.
What apps need to run in the background to make that possible? I don't know.
Why would you want to get rid of Knox?

I wanted to get rid of Knox because I don't need it. Afaik, Knox is a security solution (developed by NSA) designed to create a secure area/container for data etc. It's is not my company phone and that's why I don't need it and want get rid of it.
I looks like I cannot have both, disable knox and the rest of the bloat..

Hey there,
So I've been having a good time with my S8, and am even enjoying the beta testing in all its buggy glory Unfortunately, I seem to have cornered myself into a situation I can't seem to find a resolution for. Basically, after one of the recent beta updates, I had to set PDP engine back up as an owner / administrator, which it normally takes care of on its own using Knox and the sort.
Now for the real issue-- Since I currently cannot employ Samsung Pay due to my Financial Institution's limitations, I disabled basically everything Knox related. I assume that, in my crusade against Knox, I disabled whatever allows for Device Owner to be set.. Unfortunately, this means PDP engine / PDP pro don't work. I can't re-enable or disable anything... Is there a means of undoing PDP changes so that I can get everything working again?
Thanks!
Silly me, I just realized the issue is that pdp engine can't get itself set up right on this beta build, seems like everything else is fine

PDP Pro has a self-contained Samsung build (no additional plugin) that works up to the last Beta (I don't have non-beta Oreo yet, so can't really give you any advice if that's where you're at). Uninstalling the App + Plugin, clearing cache, then installing this version seemed to clear everything up for me. Not too sure about that Workstation lockout you have. You may need to compile as much information as possible and launch a separate thread for useful support on that front

Hi all!
I'm writing here to see if someone has any idea, it seems I'm not able to understand the reason.
I setup Google Pay on my OnePlus 5 and it was working perfectly, up until some days ago. Now when I put the phone close to the POS, nothing happens, even if I open the Google Pay app before placing the phone near the terminal.
I performed a factory reset of the phone, after that, Google Pay started working again, but then, after a few hours, it just stopped with the same exact behavior, meanwhile I had restored the backup of most of my apps.
I again performed a factory reset, Google Pay started working properly, then slowly started re-installing and re-configuring my apps, constantly testing if Google Pay was working (luckily I found out how to "test" if Google Pay is working without having to buy something*), everything was working properly, but then, apparently without reason, Google Pay stopped working again in the exact same way.
I pinpointed the problem down to Google Pay and not generically to NFC, because Android Beam and other NFC apps are working perfectly. I also tried an app from Visa that emulates a credit card for test purposes (Visa Mobile CDET), this app replaces Google Pay as Tap&Pay provider and when I test the NFC payment with that app set as default, it works, the test card is sent over to the receiving terminal. As soon as I change the default Tap&Pay to Google Pay, nothing happens anymore.
Some additional info: my OnePlus 5 has never been rooted, it is up to date with the latest firmware (OxygenOS 9.0.6). Google Pay is version: 2.90.250604638
Is anyone experiencing the same issue?
thanks a lot!

and now Google Pay is working again.
I guess this means there was a bug introduced on the latest version or something like that, it's difficult to say without a changelog
At least this explains the random behavior, Play Services libraries are probably updated in background automatically.
thanks for the hint! Now I have to make sure Play Services libraries won't update automatically and I probably need to monitor new releases as I don't want to stick with an old version forever.

- set it as default Tap&Pay app
- as "Use default" option, select "Except when another payment app is open"

From what I understand, it emulates different types/technologies of contactless cards, so merchants can be sure their POSs are compatible with that type/technology of cards.
It should be "safe".
I tried the workaround, and I can confirm it works.
Now we just have to organize a meeting in Bologna, the issue seems to be here

Exactly, the app itself is not useful to us, but it lets you change Tap&Pay default to another app that is not Google Pay and this seems to be unlocking Google Pay for some reason.

Which Google Play Services and Google Pay version? Thanks
Hello everyone. Finally I found someone else with this problem! Since may/june 2019 I'm having this strange issue of Google Pay not working anymore. I've been in contact with Google and OnePlus, they reflashed OxygenOS but nothing solved the problem. Google Play Services is now updated to the version 19.4.20, but Google Pay and other NFC apps still don't work. The strange thing is that some NFC apps work properly, other do not work at all... Just like Google Pay. In the meantime, did someone found a stable solution? Thank you all.
Hello Frank!
the only workaround is the one described above, unfortunately, no solution is offered, but it seems it's some kind of compatibility issue with other nfc apps.
for example, andreacos92 realized that after a factory reset, Google pay works properly, but the moment he installed Muver (an Italian nfc app to use mobile bus tickets) and after the first reboot, Google pay stops working, even uninstall ing Muver will leave Google pay broken, the only solution is another factory reset.
any chance you're also using that app? Or perhaps another one using nfc?

Good morning, a week ago I was trying to install Pokemon Go on the switch to use Fake GPS ....
Unfortunately I saw 2 barriers.
1- The Switch does not have GPS, an essential requirement for most Joysticks.
2- We cannot connect the switch via ADB. This would also be essential to use the SmaliPatcher.
3- Magisk cannot pass the second safetynet check...
I am not an expert, far from it, but if you want we can try it together. I think there are a lot of people who would appreciate being able to play PoGo on the switch with LineageOS
The latter two points are irrelevant, as with the newly released Android 10 for the Switch, I've managed to use Smali Patcher without issue and fix the SafetyCheck with just a lil bit of googling (duckduckgoing, actually, but it doesn't quite roll off the tongue). Pokémon GO runs without a hitch and the only issue right now is that the GPS Joystick app insists I turn on the location. If we can find a workaround, we're golden.

Pokémon GO runs without a hitch and the only issue right now is that the GPS Joystick app insists I turn on the location. If we can find a workaround, we're golden.

My Setup is Smali Patcher and this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incorporateapps.fakegps_route&hl=en_US&gl=US (I've got the paid version) I've just unticked both "Android 10 FusedLocationApi" and "Smali Patcher Mode" under App settings and it's been working without any problems.
