Is it possible: Complete backup and restore of Redmi Note 7? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Questions & Answers

As the title says, I'm wondering if its possible to make a complete backup of everything(including settings) and then restore it back to what it was before.
I'm using the Note 7 MIUI 12 android 10 Global 48Mpx
Without root
Without root and custom ROM and custom recovery
With root
With root, recovery(which) and custom ROM(which?)
Please be specific in your answers and if you refer to programs or tutorials then please add links.
Thank you in advance
Jan

Afaik yes it's the only solution, you can use a different custom recovery like twrp but orangefox is the reccomended one for our device

First time building a ROM

I really want to put a custom ROM on my phone (Asus ZenFone Laser 2 - ZE500KL), obviously without bricking it. Because I can't find RessurectionRemix or LineageOS already built, I'm going to try building by myself.
I can't find any good tutorials, but I tried this one, but I got an error right when installing the libraries... Because I know no one is going to build it for me, can someone suggests a step by step tutorial? (I have amateur Linux skills, I'm not any pro, but not any noob)
You can find LineageOS/AOKP/RR for ZE500KL here. here
Make sure you get the Z00ED version.

Well, I found that post but didn't notice there was an "Z00ED" in the title... By the way, some steps would be good to install it, because if I brick this, I'm dead... I know the steps, but making sure of them would be great...

You unlock the bootloader then you flash TWRP.. After that you wipe DATA/CACHE/DALVICK CACHE and you flash your ROM and GAPPS (ARM64).

So, if something go wrong in the process, I would just need to do the exact same process but with the stock ROM right?
Make sure your bootloader is unlocked before flashing twrp, go to fastboot and type this
fastboot oem device-info
if you see this -->> (bootloader)Device unlocked: true
then you are unlocked, then proceed to flash your device twrp latest version.

Yes, It's unlocked. Tomorrow I'll try flashing TWRP and then Lineage OS...
I found the TWRP here.
If someone could give feedback about this site I would be grateful!

You need to flash the stock recovery and then flash the stock ROM. There are plenty of tutorials on XDA to help you with that so don't worry.. You can find more in the General section of this forum

The second on (androidfilehost)
Before installing make sure you are on Android 6.0 and you unlocked your bootloader using the official unlock: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE500KL/0518-1134_SIGNED_UnlockTool_ZE500KL_AndroidM.apk
You should find your twrp here in xda or twrp.me

Just 2 more things I wanna make sure:
1. Do I need to root to flash LineageOS?
2. On that LineageOS post, what is the AOKP? xD I already checked the website but I didn't get what it is, and if it comes with the ROM...
You dont need to root because the rom is already pre rooted. But you can change root to SuperSU or PHH Superuser if you want.
AOKP are custom ROM developers/modders.

1: you don't need to root
2: AOKP is a custom ROM based on CyanogenMod/LineageOs but with extra features (Like Resurrection Remix has)
Thank you very much to everyone, Im just rocking LineageOS 14.1 on my smartphone! Until now, no errors!

[Q]Back to stock and saftynet

Hello everybody,
I'd like to test the "new" B05 on my Axon G, just to see if my battery is better with the stock rom.
But i have a small question. My bootloader is unlocked, my phone can't pass safetynet without a trick in the kernel.
Somebody know if a "safetynet" kernel is avaiable for our stock G variant? or i need to relock my bootloader?
Thanks for your lights

You can use my guide if you want to return safely to stock - over at Guides, News Discussion
And about safetynet, you'll pass if you follow the guide that's on the XDA articles. That article you sent is from October 2016 lol
I've been passing SafetyNet for at least two weeks but only tested two days ago. Now that they updated safetynet you might need to execute those commands in order to delete stuff and whatnot, and it will pass
Effectively, it's work !! thanks all.
What i do. :
Backup everything. Titanium etc...
Reboot in recovery, backup on OTG
Wipe everything (system/data/cache etc...)
Send via adb twrp zips files (bootstack, system and magisk)
Installed TWRP version bootstack and system.
reboot recovery
Installed Magisk.
Reboot and it's work
Now i need to check if i can have more thant 4 SOT

Help me find a suitable twrp version for global mi 9t

Hey guys Hope your all good
I have bought a new mi 9t the global one( MIUI Global 10.3.11) (PFJMIXM) and I am not sure right now which version is suitable. I have already read those multiple threads about the twrp
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/how-to/twrp-versions-xiaomi-mi-9t-t3955946/page7
, but still not sure which one is suitable.(knowing that I know how to unlock the bootloader)
Plus I need a way to get back to the original MIUI if anything bad happens such as soft bricking the device.
Any way thanks in advance for your help.:good:
though I'd suggest you the 4pda twrp since probably most of the users use it, one user reported an issue with restoring backups as you're mentioning it in your question. but you can use fastboot or miflash tool to return to your original factory rom whenever you desire that.

Hello
Sorry for my English, I have the same mi 9t the global one (MIUI Global 10.3.11) (PFJMIXM) and twrp from 4PDA and Magisk. everything works great, no problems. Installation is very easy, there is a manual in the zip file from 4PDA, one click and it installs itself I recommend

Read this article about preventing bricking your device due to Anti-rollback or skip immediately to the "How to check for Anti-Rollback Protection" section.

Miui 11 downgrade

Has anybody successfuly downgraded Miui 11.0.1.0 global back to 10? And how...... of course
I've downgraded to miui 10 when miui 11 came out due to battery drain issues.
In order to do that, you will need your phone unlocked, the zip folder with the verison you want to downgrade and the MiFlash desktop app

My advice is if anyone is still on MIUI version 10...do not upgrade to MIUI 11.
Hey Jake, can you post back here and confirm if nokuteshimo's advice worked?

Disclaimer: I've never tried to downgrade MIUI version (actually I don't even use MIUI but a custom rom)
If you're bootloader is locked you need to unlock it, here you find how: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-7/how-to/one-redmi-note-7-unlock-bootloader-t3890751
Once your bootloader is unlocked you need:
miflash tools: https://xiaomiflashtool.com/ (here you can find also some tutorial about how to use it, just search in the menu)
and the fastboot rom that you want to install (https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/lavender/)
