Recent Peloton Update on 1/7/21 Blocks App Launching - Hardware Hacking General

Hey guys! First post here but long time lurker.
Recently Peloton updated their software and it has apparently blocked app launching using the "About Us" "cheat code" by rapidly pressing the corner of the pop up.
What happens now is that the only app that shows is the WebView Browser Tester-

Any ideas on how to get the other applications to show in the launcher?
Right now I am using a work around by customizing the bottom bar to launch Plex via the back button :|
Thank you!

Ok I found a work around to use nova launcher, which you can access after installing by clicking the "P" button on the lower nav. Once you do, you will be prompted with whether or not to launch Peloton OR Nova. Then later on in Nova settings you can change the default behavior of the home button.
This works for now but super lame that Peloton blocked this :\

I'm running into the same problems. Do you know a method to bring up the home screen without logging into the Peloton app? I've attempted to send specific key events to launch the home screen but that appears to be re-mapped... do you know the app and activity name for the Home Screen launcher?

I'm not able to launch any app even from nova launcher. Nova launches just fine. Any app besides that seems to start and then closes as if something is blocking it.
Any hints for that?

As a workaround, I launch everything from chrome link. Chrome seems to be launching Netfix etc appropriately.

Hitting the P doesn't give me the option for nova launcher on the tread. Is there a trick to getting it to show to ask to change default launcher? Which version of nova launcher are you using?

Launching Android Activity

I removed the lean back launcher from my device and an using Kodi launcher to load Kodi as a launcher. My issue is that adding the shield hub app as a favorite and launching it that way doesn't load the app the same way as if I was opening it from the leanback launcher. I know the android activity I need to load to get the desired output but I don't know how to add it in Kodi to launch it properly.

disable or lock google app/search bar in Amazon Moto G Play?

Picked up one of these phones for my new teenager, thinking I could lock everything down well between an applock app and norton family app. But I can't seem to get rid of the google search bar on the home screen and can't lock the google app in the menu. And neither of these google search capabilities are monitored by norton family.
What can I do to uninstall/disable/lock this google search app?
I installed nova launcher, but the google app is still available in the menu, and the applock app doesn't see it (since it's native?).
So far I discovered I can hide apps from the drawer in nova launcher, but the app lock apps I have won't let me lock the nova settings (doesn't appear in the list of apps). I also installed a different keyboard and locked the system settings.
Is there a way to lock the app drawer or nova settings?

Replacement launcher with split screen?

Hi - I've been looking to replace my launcher from touchwiz as I need landscape orientation for the home page.
Do any of the alternative launchers support split screen? Doesn't look like Nova, Action Launcher or Google Launcher do, and I cant find Samsung's Good Lock for some reason as I thought that might.
Any ideas? Thanks
Samsung doesn't want launchers to work in split screen. That is a design decision which makes sense when you think about it. The same reason that the launcher does not show in "Recent apps".
Fear not, there might be a solution.
A simple trick would be to get the apk that you want to try in split screen and then edit its AndroidManifest.xml file so that the app doesn't know that it's a launcher. (Not sure if you can do that directly but most probably you'll have to Decompile the app -> edit manifest -> Recompile the app.
If you have spare free time you can google how to do all this. And see if its possible. (Most probably it is.)
I found a great solution! I force landscape mode using an app and Nova in split screen - ie I have music on touchwiz one side, and nova on the other. That way I can run any apps split screen. Inside nova I can run maps which wont run on it's own in split screen.
Touchwiz allows this with launcher apps which are not set as the default home.
In fact it works fantastic. I use it along with a floating app launcher so I can press home and it wont take the whole homescreen home, just the nova launcher.

I recently downloaded the GalaxyS8_Dark_clock_noframe.apk and it is WOW! Although I only got to try out the trial version on a Samsung Galaxy A3 2017 with android v6.0 (marshmellow) I noticed that in the gallery app the title for each album is white against a background of white and not black against a background of white or white text against a black background? See attached image.
Is there a freeware theme that is similar with the dark menus, notification window, etc as I don't have that much data so I can't google that much....
Thanks

[Oreo stock] Impossible to add url bookmark or app specific shortcut on home screens?

It looks like I can't add any app specific shortcut on my home screens.
In Firefox, when I click to add a bookmark to the home screen, nothing happens, no shortcut is created.
And on FB messenger the option to add a chat head shortcut to the homescreen doesn't even show up anywmore.
I tried with stock launcher, lawnchair and Nova, same problem.
Did I miss something?
Btw I just bought that G6 and updated to Oreo right out of the box, so I don't know how it was on Nougat.
(missing Messenger option in attached screen cap)

Ok I guess the apps need to be updated to use the new method.
No one else has that problem?

Change default launcher from Android TV to Nova Launcher, possible?

I have LineageOS 19.1 (AndroidTV) installed on my new walmart tv box.
Is there any way to set nova launcher as a default launcher on this platform?
I did use button remapper as a temp solution, but would rather make it native.
You can change the default launcher but nova isn't designed for Android tv. I suggest atv launcher, flauncher, or dashboard
Search on GitHub for Android tv launcher manager
Also use button mapper from the playstore to change the home button to the new launcher
If open source means anything to you, google open source android tv launcher and you'll find a reddit post that has a huge list and you can look through to see what you like
Frankly, I am not a big fan of Android TV optimized launchers.
I am a very OCD kinda guy, and all my devices all have the very same layout.
A few programs in the dock and an analogue clock widget (and nothing more).
Could I achieve it, with Google TV launcher, or any of the other TV optimized launchers?
P.S I did install button remapper as a temporary measure, but it doesn't give me 100%.
For instance from Google play store, home button takes me to Google launcher so I have to press home twice to get to Nova.

That's why I also said to use the android launcher manager from GitHub that's what disables the stock launcher

Maybe this helps:: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-launcher-of-android-12.4512821/post-87787765
Cheers
It did, but not directly, thanks.
The original method proposed there, doesn't work.
Using launcher manager oddly didn't work either.
What did work, is uninstalling android tv launcher via adb and then using launcher manager to set nova as default.
