I've been using LineageOS 15 (Oreo) for about two years. A few days ago, I flashed the stock Oreo ROM and then the stock Pie ROM, to see how the stock Pie ROM looks like. After this, I flashed LOS 16 (Pie) and found that there is no sound during phone calls. When I dial someone, there is no sound of the ring going through, and once the other person picks up, again no sound either way. Call recording during this time gives a file with no sounds. I played a Youtube video and it plays with the audio working; I also used the sound recorder to record my voice, and it recorded the audio, so I doubt this is a hardware issue (unless calling uses different hardware). Everything else works.
After this, I have flashed LOS 15 Oreo again, but it didn't solve the problem. I've tried restoring old working TWRP backups, but the problems remains. Today, I flashed the stock Android 10 ROM, but once it boots, it gets stuck at the Zenfone logo. After this, I flashed the CrDroid Android 10 ROM, but again, no sound during calls.
When flashing the various ROMs, I wiped everything (Dalvik, Cache, System, Vendor, Internal Storage) - everything except the Micro SDCard and USB OTG, so that nothing of the previous ROMs remained, and then flashed the new ROMs from the SDCard. Also, the touchscreen doesn't work when in TWRP, so I have to use an OTG mouse.
While searching on google, I came across a post on the XDA HTC 11 thread about flashing dsp.img, and I asked that person, but he was not able to help with this phone. Here's his post:

Hi,
If I use a LineageOS (or Resurrection Remix OS) version from the last 2 months it gets stuck on the boot animation. Using an April or May version works fine.
The animation, and any sound, plays but it never gets past that. The phone is doing something as it is warm and using power faster than a 1.0A USB socket can charge it, 2.5A is fine though.
I can't find anyone else with this issue here or on Google.
I've tried
* Installing with and without GApps and SuperSU
* Installing with and without GApps and LineageSU
* Both Factory Resets, and Full wipes
* The latest 8.5 firmware and an old 8.1 firmware, from saurav333
* The latest 12.04.2017 firmware, from PsyMan
* I've let most of these boot animations run at least 30 minutes, the longest was 12 hours
* Confirming both System and Data partitions are EXT4 and doing a filesystem fix on both (per a Reddit suggestion)
Offically unlocked? If yes, try with the fw provided by TheStrix. It will boot.
BTW you should have posted this in questions section.
1. make you sure your device is coming from MM with officially unlocked
2. use firmware provided by OP on the 2nd post (officiall LOS 14.1)
Hi all XDA's members and Meticulus's RR ROM contributors,
I would like to share my experience with Meticulus's RR ROM for Honor 5C.
First I tried Elite V6 with no success : bootloop, F2FS or EXT4 nothing to do ; the Elite V7 is available from Christmas but I see that there are bugs to fix for Hassan, so I gave up and restored a backup of my STOCK system.
The restore was not good as my camera and audio no longer worked...
Before I get back to the STOCK update NEM-L51C432B357, I decided to try Meticulus's RR. It was a very good idea as I now have a renamed Honor 5c to hi6250 (...) working with no bug up to now.
LTE OK, SMS OK, GPS OK, SDCARD OK, AUDIO OK, VIDEO OK, GAPPS OK, MTP OK, etc
Adaway OK, Afwall+ OK, Magisk v14 OK
+ Bonus : Evie Launcher working as it was not using with STOCK ROM (icon size issue) !
Many thanks to Meticulus and contributors for sharing this very good work.
---
To be more precise for Honor 5C owners :
DEVICE : HONOR 5C
ROM STOCK BUILD : NEM-L51C432B350
MODDED RECOVERY .. : TWRP-3.1.1-0-hi6250-v5.2.zip
ROM INSTALLED .... : RR-N-v5.8.5-20171214-hi6250-Meticulus.zip
GAPPS INSTALLED .. : open_gapps-arm64-7.1-pico-20171225.zip
---
Steps of my successful installation with SDCARD and no SIM CARD :
1- FASTBOOT the TWRP then reboot to the TWRP RECOVERY
2- Wipe all except external SDCARD
3- Install the ROM
4- Reboot to TWRP RECOVERY
5- Install the GAPPS
6- Reboot to system (RR)
7- During RR Android setup, when asked insert the SIM CARD.
It would perhaps also have been successful with the SIM CARD inserted from the beginning...
---
Questions/feature requests :
- On Resurrection Remix site, I have not found your great ROM why ?
- On XDA Dev, there is no thread "Resurrection Remix For The Honor 5C [METICULUS]" but a "[ROM][7.1.2] Resurrection Remix For The Honor 6x [METICULUS]" one, this is why I put my comments here and in the Elite thread for those like me unable to get Elite V6 or V7 working with their Honor 5C.
- One thing is really missing to me (not found in settings) : the scheduled start/stop that worked very well with the STOCK ROM.
Do you think that this useful feature could be added on a future version ?
- The double TAP for screen wake up, would be a great bonus feature (was not provided in the STOCK ROM).
- Not tested the OTG, I will tell it in this thread.
Thanks again.

Meticulus's replies :
1. It is unlikely that any device with a kirin processor will get "official support" for LineagOS and therefore Resurrection Remix. There just isn't enough source.
2. Just because there is no "Honor 5c" thread doesn't mean you should come here and confuse information. It makes the water muddy. There is nothing stopping you from creating a thread in the "Honor 5c General" and post your experienced there.
3. Scheduled device start and sleep is not something I will work on.
4. DoubleTap 2 Wake only works on some P9 Lite's. Other devices with different touchscreens simply do not have the hardware capability.
5. I'm glad you like the ROM but please re-post your experiences in the Honor 5c section. I intend to delete these posts...

Sim working fine??
What do you think solved the audio issue?
Reverting to Stock Rom backup could have helped somehow.
Renaming it maybe ? And how did you rename it? After installing this rom mine became hi6250.
I own a nmo-l31 and ever since installing EliteRom v7 i could not get the audio working. Installed EliteRom v6 , applied l-31 patch, nothing.
Trying to switch to stock rom with dload gave error
Directly flashing boot, system, cust, recovery from firmware packages didnt change anything on the userspace ,literally. My files, homescreen etc. remained the same and only recovery changed. I think i made a mistake there but who knows.
Now installed this ResurrectionRemix twrp and rom after seeing this thread.Audio still refuses to work .

I had the same problem on my NEM-L51. The problem is (or at least i think it is), that the vendor partition is somehow corrupted.
Short explaination, the vendor partition holds some drivers which are not open source (therefore not in the android kernel) and also aren't shipped in the custom roms (because of copyright stuff). So you always need to have them, if the custom rom depends on them (and most/all of the honor 5c custom roms do so). That's also the reason why you always have to flash the custom rom over your emui5.x and if you screwed your whole system, you first need to flash a backup or get back to emui on a different way before you can flash a working custom rom again.
So that's the explaination part. I installed twrp on my device, took a complete backup, flashed aosp from meticulus, everything worked except of Audio/Videos. Flashed LineageOS from Hassan, everything worked except of audio/video playback. Flashed backup, everything worked except audio/video. WTF. I don't know why, but i believe that the backups made with TWRP were somehow not complete, because flashing all partitions (the backup was over all partitions, triple checked, made new backups from stock) didn't solve audio issues, not even on the stock backup. What I now did was getting back to stock with the dload method, and flashed again directly the lineageos from hassan, which then worked. I had a try before where i first accidentially flashed aosp again, and same problems occured again. Also the now stock backup again didn't work. That's why i think that the TWRP backups for Honor 5c NEM-L51 are somehow not right.
Tl;dr if you have audio/video playback issues, try to get back to stock (make sure those features work on your stock rom) and flash again. If it still doesn't work, custom rom is maybe not compatible with nem-l51 (only experienced that with meticulus roms, hassans work great).

Try again with the dload method, maybe use another UPDATE.zip. I had to try it several times, device booted sometimes for ever, and suddenly it worked. No idea why, but maybe try it again.

Hi,
Dual SIM not tested, Volte I don't know if it works using my ISP (free.fr) and don't know how to check this.
An advice, don't update Magisk, I have done it on several rr (honor 5c, idol3 5.5), the result was bootloop.
Current Information

Download
UltimateROM
Installation
before installation make sure you have a TWRP recovery
install latest chrono kernel
reboot recovery
install ROM
install chrono kernel again
If you proceed with installing GAPPS, you might have running out of space on /system partition. If you are planning to flash Gapps, you're likely need to use sdcard repartition (see below how to). Below is installation sequence with the repartition of the internal sdcard:
like before, make sure you have kernel with TWRP recovery inbuilt
install latest chrono kernel
reboot recovery
flash ReParted zip. This will wipe system, data and cache partitions!
install ROM
install chrono kernel again
*please note a possibly undesirable effect of the repartition: cache partition will be decreased to 15 MB and some ROMs that rely upon this partition won't boot. To restore original sdcard partition layout, flash stock 4.1.2 ROM (with PIT file).

Sorry for the stupid question, but how to apply this fix? I've tried using this source instead of vibrator.c from hardware/libhardware_legacy repo, but there were the same issues.
Should be as you said, replaced vibrator.c from libhardware_legacy Rom source. This code was the same for Janice from JB 4.2 and above as I remember. When I was made CM13, this fixed continuous vibration after Rom boot up on Janice.
Are u enabled vibrator driver in kernel config? Driver is diffrent than Codina's one.
Maybe something in build process. Try to remove first compiled binary in hardware/libhardware-legacy/libhardware_legacy.so and build again make <device> libhardware_legacy.
Dear ChronoMonochrome. I am SOO GLAD Thank you.I thought Janice is dead! Thanx a lot ?(It is still my main phone..)
What's the best ROM for this device that i can use as daily driver?

Vibration is disabled totally on this build. But don't worry, it's a temporary solution I had to accept, so that I can work on other stuff in the meantime.
@ChronoMonochrome I followed the exact sequence reported in the main post, but I guess something must be wrong.
I started from a freshly installed LOS 11 by epirex, latest october build, everything wiped, then I proceeded flashing chrono kernel before going to flash UltimateROM and chrono kernel again.
At this point, as happening coming from stock 4.1.2 + CoCore R24, I can't get to recovery and instead obtain a bootloop that again need me to do an odin restore.
Am I the only facing this issue? doing something wrong?

It's possible that there's a bug somewhere in the current installation method. I will review this as soon as I finish working on the kernel stuff. It's not necessary to flash a whole stock firmware image each time after you lose recovery mode working, you only need to flash a stock kernel.
In my experience, after flash most of Epirex's Rom will have bootloop in samsung logo, if u don't want go thru odin.
Easier way is just need flash leggera rom and proceed to recovery/other rom.
That's true, the problem in my situation is I can't get to recovery, so flashing leggera wouldn't be possible.
I solved following chrono suggestion, packing stock tar file with just kernel, so without the need of a full stock system flash from odin, but just the kernel/stock recovery.

Vibration fix
Due to issues with an infinite vibration, a vibrator HAL was disabled on this ROM.

Thank you so much chrono, just installed your new update, it took so much time to me to install the rom (by latest CK twrp recovery) but anyway it finished and booted fine.
Now I will be using it for a few days, had to do two reboots to have everything set up and working (got some issues with browser, music app and file manager not starting after first boot, while media scanner started working after the second reboot).
It seems smooth to me as the build #1, for this little first impression.
Will take some time to use it and report
UPDATE 31.08.2018
Ok, so far I am using it for days now and I can say I didn't found major probles at all, I kept everything as much stock as possible and it is fine.
To me seems like wi-fi signal strength is a bit lower than what I was used to, but need further days to say this safely (wheater conditions can influence this).
Multitasking is globally good, had some little glitches some times, I think this can just be tweaked a bit indeed by the user, on the base on what's the use of his terminal.
Had some troubles with gps when on mobile network, like it took too much time to get the fix and aborted, while this didn't happened when on wifi connection (a-gps related?).
Anyway I don't found these some important or unfixable issues at all and I am very happy with this update, I am using you rom without google apps (Opengapps) and I can say it is just fantastic.
Thank you Chrono
Hello, please tell me the solution to the problem with the auto-rotate screen. and the camera does not work at all. The rest of the firmware is excellent!
Any Custom ROM without "no audio during call" bug in Asus Max Pro M1(3GB Ram variant)
Story: Installed LineageOS 4 months back, Had a good working mobile with latest build, & then I tried RR & AEX,
Resurrection OS & AEX latest builds had same "no audio during call" problem
Tried to restore but , facing the same problem in LineageOS too, I checked by installing all the available builds on website.
I checked speakers & mic via whatsapp call ,they working fine
Resurrection OS older builds (7.0.0s) don't have this problem but still they have lots of bugs & crash a lot.
I tried "build.prop" method didn't worked because there were no lines to change.
I tried installing "dolby plus oero patch" it wasn't getting installed via TWRP.
So basically this critical bug exists in every rom I'm trying. U know any rom which doesn't has this problem,
& I was thinking if anyone saved a twrp backup of most perfectly running device online for rescuing other devices later,
hi,

Hello everybody. I have a issue that is litterally making me go crazy. Basically, on every custom rom i've tried so far (Pixel experience both normal and plus, HavocOS, CRDROID, every one of them in their latest versions) video recording through any kind of camera app doesn't work, except for the ANXCamera_Unity_157, where the video recording works, in a very smooth way, but it has a bad video quality, looking like it has a very low bitrate. I unlbocked the bootloader while i was on miui 11.04 global, i wiped everything and formatted DATA through OrangeFox recovery, i'm saying this because i saw that nobody has wiped out the Internal Storage during a custom rom installation. Thanks in advance.
--UPATE--
I tried to flash the miui 10.3.10 through fastboot, and the camera didn't work at all at first, then it asked for permissions and started working, however i still can't record any videos, except for short videos. I tested the hardware and the hardware is okay. Before this i tried to restore a backup that i made on orangefox before any rom flash, and the backup doesn't work. I tried to flash the miui 11.04 global (the rom i had at the beginning of everything) from the recovery, and camera didn't work completely, along the wifi connection (i open the wifi, click on "activate" and it stalles, then turns itself off and makes the phone laggy) i don't completely know what to do, i've been searching for fixes for a bit now and it looks like i'm the only one on the entire world who has this issue. I do really need some help or at least an advice or something
--UPDATE (FINAL)--
While i was too concerned about the video recording i didn't notice that there wasn't a single sensor that was working, so i figured out that the persist partion was corrupted. I fixed everything, video recording included, just by flashing the stock MIUI (11.05) through Fastboot, and then, from the same .tgz file (the fastboot flashable rom, you can find that if you search on the internet), i took the persist.img and flashed it using orangefox recovery, and it's done, i fixed that.
