Following Sony's guide is normally all that's needed. Ensure you have followed it to the letter.

One liners don't cut it here. This is a forum not a chat tweet or some other form of limited intelligence media
Please feel free to add some details and elaborate on what you have tried, your settings on device like usb debugging, oem unlock, etc. Things like does adb work? Post the output of the cmd prompt add some screenshots etc etc.
If you want help it should not be up to those willing to help you to draw the information from you.

As a new security measure in Windows 8, unsigned drivers are automatically blocked.
Happily, there’s a way round this problem too. If you go to the Advanced Startup app in Windows 8, you can choose to reboot the computer with Advanced Startup options enabled. You’ll then be given the opportunity to boot into various troubleshooting modes, including Safe Mode, Debugging Mode and the snappily-named “Disable Driver Signature Enforcement” mode.
Thanks.

[Need Testing] Root via Cydia Impactor for LBL

DOES NOT WORK @mods HELP CLOSE THE THREAD TKS!
Hello guys!
I've been looking at many ways to help us root this device via unlocked bootloader and I might find this one to be the ONE if I am correct. I need a tester with a Z3 Locked Bootloader device and follow the steps below to see if you can obtain root access:
Step 1: Download the ADT bundle from https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and run “SDK Manager.exe”
The SDK manager will produce a list of items and the option to install. Scroll down the list to “Extras” and tick “Google USB Driver.” Then click “install packages.” This will create a folder named “usb_driver”
\Google adb\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20131030\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver.
The location on the disk is the same as the “SDK Manager.exe”
Note: The drivers are not actually installed yet, only downloaded.
Step 2: Open the file “android_winusb.inf” with a text editor. A good one to use is Notepad ++ .
The file will show a list of devices followed by a set of parameters and Hardware ID's. There are two categories of devices “[Google.NTx86]” and “[Google.NTamd64].” This specifies the type of Windows operating system either 32 bit or 64 bit respectively.
Add the following entry after the list other devices:
;Sony Xperia Z3 D6630
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install,
(Side note: Can change the model number to your device specifics)
Note: If the drivers are being installed on a 32 bit operating system then enter it under the [Google.NTx86] list, for 64 bit enter it under the [Google.NTamd64] list. If you don't know, enter it in both.
Step 3: Turn on USB “debugging mode” on the tablet or phone under Settings>Developer Options
Step 4: Connect the phone or tablet to the PC with a USB cable.
Open Windows Device Manager. Device Manager will show a listing for “Android Phone.”
Right click it and open the “Properties” window then select the “Details” tab.
Open the drop-down menu and select “Hardware ID's.” This will display the ID's for the tablet.
Select the longer name and press Ctrl+C to copy it. Paste this Hardware ID in the text editor after “=USB_Install.
Example:
;Sony Xperia Z3 D6630
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\Vid_16d5&Pid_8005&Rev_0230&MI_01
Now Save the file. You have now created an .inf file for Windows to recognize the device.
Step 5: In Device Manager right click on the “Android Phone” Icon and select “Update Driver.”
Select “Install from specific location” and click “Next.”
Click “Browse” and navigate to the location of the "android_winusb.inf" file that was just saved.
Example Location:
Desktop\Google adb\adt-bundle-windows-x86-20131030\sdk\extras\google\usb_driver.
Click Next.
Windows should now install the ADB driver for the Tablet or Phone.
Windows may ask to reboot the computer. Reboot the computer.
Step 6: Check the Device Manager to see that the device has been installed. The device properties should now read “This device is working properly.”
Note: the device properties may display an error code “Code 18: Reinstall the drivers for this device.” If it does uninstall the driver.
Right Click and select “Uninstall.” Reboot the tablet or phone and then Right Click and select “update driver.”
This time select “Install the software automatically.” The device properties should now read “This device is working properly.”
Success! The ADB drivers are now installed for the phone or tablet.
Now root using Cydia Impactor (Included in attachments [DL Here: https://cydia.saurik.com/api/latest/2):
Try all the methods in the application and report here if it works

If you already can adb to your phone, do you really need all those extra steps with editing text files etc?
Hmmm, I'll hopefully have my Z3 tonight or tomorrow... What would the risks be of trying this, any risk of bricking? (Or is it then a matter of reflashing the proper .ftf file)..

No you shouldn't need that if you have already installed used Flashtool (For example) or other adb commands.

Unlock Bootloader Z5 Compact

Hey guys, sorry for my bad english. After some research I got unlocked my Bootloader on Windows 10.
Here a small guide.
YOUR WARRANTY IS VOID.
Im not responsible for any damage on your devices. Do that on your own risk.
NOTE:!! Your devices will reset all Data and Settings, so do a backup.
1. Go to : http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ and select Sony Xperia Z5 Compact.
After this you get an E-Mail with an unlock Link.
2. Download Z5 Compact Drivers at : http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/
After you downloaded this, you need to extract the drivers. Now you will find a file named "sa0113adb.inf" rightclick on this and "install".
3. Now Download Android SDK here : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html "installer_r24.4.1-windows.exe" for Windows Users.
Install Android SDK after downloading. Now Start Android SDK and a list will appear. There you need to Select Google USB Drivers and click on "install".
4. Now you need to download the latest Fastboot Drivers here : http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/fastboot-driver/
Now you need to replace the fastboot driver files with the file in C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver.
(Maybe you need to make all Files and Folders visible to see AppData)
5. Now you need to enable the developer options on your device. Thats easy, go into Settings and scroll down till "about my phone" then tap 10-20 times on "build number" after that you unlocked the developer options. Go into the developer options now and enable "usb debugging" and "oem unlock".
6. Now put your device into adb-mode. (Hold down "volume up" and put usb cable into device and computer). After that you need to install the adb drivers by going in the Windows-Device-Manager and right click on the unknown adb device. Select update driver and then search for the driver-software. Now select driver from a list. Now Search for something like "Sony sa0113adb" and install.
7. After that you need to open CMD.exe as Administrator, and type "cd C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools"
Now you are in that folder.... Now type fastboot devices. When a device is listed you are ready to type your unlock code described on the website. (The link you got by E-Mail from Sony).
Now you can check the status here:
(In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.)
Well thats it. Sorry again for my bad english .....
NOTE:!! Your devices will reset all Data and Settings, so do a backup.
what is the comand for relock?
Hi,
There isn't Z5 Compact in the device list (It's up to Z4 Tablet Wifi)
How can I select Z5 Compact ?
EDIT : I can't even see any phone, only tablets, weird..

No idea...I can't find any phones either.
EDIT: Maybe you could just try http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/email-verification/ directly
Thanks, I tried that yesterday and it said it was for Xperia Z4 Tablet Wifi but after I type my IMEI, it showed a code and I finally unlocked my BL
It seems that Sony has stopped its bootloader-unlock support for Xperia phones.
Sent from my E5823 using XDA-Developers mobile app
But you still can unlock it, even if it showed Xperia Z4 Tablet Wifi.
I did it yesterday
I found that, when your phone is dual sim, you have to use IMEI 2 to get the unlock code.....that's funny XD

Can I access the X Play via fastboot on Win7 without installing Motorola Drivers?

I just got my Moto X Play and wanted to root it and flash CM13. I installed the Google USB Drivers to get Windows to recognize the ADB interface, and getting into fastboot mode with ADB works just fine. But once there, "fastboot devices" fails to recognize the device. The device manager shows an unrecognized device "Fastboot lux S" for which the google USB drivers don't work. I've read that this should be fixed by installing the official Motorola drivers, but I would like to avoid that if possible - I'm doing this to get rid of the Motorola crap, installing more of it on my PC to do so would be disappointing.
So, I've got a heap of questions:
- Can I use fastboot on Win7 without installing Motorola-specific drivers? It seems that there should be a generic driver for the fastboot interface as it's a feature on all modern android devices AFAIK.
- Is it possible to use Linux to connect to the device via fastboot? I doubt there's a Linux driver from Motorola... but if it's possible to get fastboot access, I'd just boot a live CD and do the unlock from there.
- Does my objection to the Motorola Drivers make sense? Are there any benefits to having the drivers installed if I flash CM on the device?
The drivers are irrelevant to the OS you want. You need the drivers, install the drivers. Your computer is trying to talk to the phone, and right now they are speaking different languages, the driver is an instruction on how to talk to the phone. It has very little to do with Motorola, google didn't build your phone, they supplied the OS. Fastboot is effectively the BIOS of your phone, imagine what would happen if you flashed the wrong BIOS on your computer., would you call Microsoft and say fix it? no.
Install the damn drivers and get over it.

That's exactly why I asked, I thought this was a standartized part of Android for which there might be a generic Windows driver - I guess that's not the case, thanks for the clarification. But I googled around and unlocking under Linux seems to work (and without requiring a driver), so I'll try that first.

Since my wife moved to an Android phone, our house is Microsoft free. Being a fairly novice user who likes to tinker, this always introduces extra layers of doubt and uncertainty ...even fear, at times. I am forced to wonder, in the presence of all the Windows software and Windows-based procedures and advice, does it work on Linux?
My answer, so far, over three phones, is that if it is adb or fastboot stuff, then, yes it does. Or, at least, so far, everything I've tried works.
Depending on your linux distro, you might have to install some extra package containing those commands. You might want to install the whole Google android package. 99.999% developer stuff, but includes the two commands that you want. It's probably more up-to-date than the Linux-distro versions.
You might have to insert a line with some manufacturer ID (I didn't for the X Play) in some configuration file.
Look... my anti-MS biases show even through a thick overcoat. But do the linux thing only if you want to do linux. By the time you've read this post, you could probably have installed those drivers .
Does my objection to the Motorola Drivers make sense?

Heh, I guess it's somewhat thick-headed to look for alternatives instead of just installing the drivers. My main problem with that is that Motorola doesn't offer a direct download of the driver but wants me to install a driver manager tool instead... I've kept my pc crapware-free thus far and intend to keep it that way If it's as simple as installing a few Android dev packages under Linux, I'll definitely take that route.
But with bash and the full Canonical repositories coming to Win10, maybe one could use the Linux adb and fastboot binaries under Windows in the not-so-far future... I wonder if those would then work without a device driver
Install 15 seconds adb 1.4.3 and run it in your fastboot folder you create in C of Windows7, no Motorola drivers.

How to unlock any Huawei Bootloader after removal of unlock page including Mate SE

Hello All!
I was disappointed when I received my Huawei Mate SE BND-L34 (USA) 2 days ago that I could not unlock the bootloader because Huawei removed the unlock page from their website. Even after talking to support via live chat and email I could not get any help from them. So I decided to do my own research.
DISCLAIMER: THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE! THIS INCLUDES INTERNAL STORAGE! I am not responsible for any lost data or bricked devices!
Getting your Unlock Code:
1. First you need to go to https://www.dc-unlocker.com/ and register for an account. Do not download their software!
2. Instead download the software at https://hcu-client.com/
3. Install drivers via HiSuite if you have not.
4. View the supported devices page. Now the Mate SE is not listed as a supported device but it did work for my device (Mate SE).
5. Make sure your drivers are installed via HiSuite.
6. Now go into https://www.dc-unlocker.com/buy and buy 4 credits. This is needed for the software. Cost is 4 EUR ($5)
7. Launch HCU-Client and connect your phone.
8. Open the dialer on your phone and enter *#*#2846579#*#* select “Background settings”, “USB ports settings”, “Manufacture mode”.
9. Now in HCU Client log into your account (Check your Email for info) click Read Phone Info.
10. Go to Unlock tab and choose Read Bootloader code. It says it will wipe your device but mine did not get wiped until I unlocked my phone. This will take a couple of minutes. Watch the right terminal window. It should spit out your code.
Using your Unlock Code:
1. Turn off your phone, Boot your device into Fastboot mode with Vol down and power button.
2. CD to where you downloaded ADB/Fastboot Tools
Run these commands when inside ADB tools directory
a) fastboot devices. (your device should bee listed. If not reinstall drivers/reboot)
b) fastboot oem get-bootinfo (just to confirm everything is detected correctly
c) fastboot oem unlock <your_unlock_code>
3. Acknowledge the prompt on your phone. Device will be WIPED!
4. Once the wipe finishes it will take several minutes for phone to boot up. Do not panic. Once you See Huawei logo you are OK!
To root your Mate SE and Install TWRP follow this guide: http://www.desinerd.co.in/how-to-huawei-mate-se-root-twrp-recovery/
Do not use the Magisk Zip in that post. Instead grab it from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

dude thanks so much it worked!!! on the honor 7x!!
EDIT: To my surprise it actually worked

The tool is safe. It's a false positive. If you are unsure Go read the HCU-Client forums.
Its your decision but I haven't noticed any ill effects. You can always run it in a VM.
Ok. Thanks

You can try DC-locker instead of HCU-Client. I just find HCU easier to use.
Are u on Windows 10? If not make sure you have latest. NET Framework installed. Try running in compatibility mode.

The DC-unlocker problems were my fault. After getting the drivers right, it detected my phone and pulled the unlock code.

Logged into this account for the first time in YEARS just to say thanks a lot for this. I was pretty gutted when I found that Huawei removed their Unlock link and refused to give codes to anyone even via support emails.
I was super hesitant to try this though, I'll admit. Spending money on what (to me) looked like a shady site was the biggest red flag. But decided to bite the bullet and do it.
The only issue I had was that my phone DID get shut down after the bootloader code was read, which caused ADB not to be able to read my phone (adb devices) for some reason. So I had to turn it on, reboot fastboot via adb and then proceed from there. But that was the only issue I had.
So again, thanks a ton for this. :good:
Got problems making this work. Hope you don't mind helping an Android newbie.
Step 7 is to "start client". On Windows 10 I had to disable the virus scan just to see the HCU.exe from the extract. When I click on it I get "This application was unable to start correctly 0xc150002". Ideas? A previous step is to install drivers. I downloaded HiSuite and and made sure I could connect to my device. Does "installing drivers" mean something more ? Thanks.

Nope you are good on the drivers. Nothing else to be done.
As for the error code I recommend disable your Anti-virus and the built in Windows Defender and then re-downloading the program. If it still doesn't work you can try the DC-unlocker program instead of HCU-Client. It should work I just have only used HCU-CLIENT.

1. Go to consumer.huawei.com / minisite / HiSuite_en/
Download HiSuite. Install it on PC. Connect Phone to PC. In HiSuite click connect to my device.
(May have to enter Developper Mode on Phone: Settings>About Phone>Tap 7 times on your Build number. Enable USB debugging.)
2. Go to www .dc-unlocker .com / buy
Item : New user account, User name you want, Your email, Credits: 4
They will send you a email with a username and password you will need later ...
3. Go to www .dc-unlocker .com / downloads
Download DC-unlocker client to PC. Install it.
4. With Phone still connect to PC, use phone dialer enter *#*#2846579#*#*
Select “Background settings”, “USB ports settings”, “Manufacture mode”.
5. Now start the dc-unlocker client on the PC.
Enter: Huawei Phones (not modems) + Auto Detect + Click Search Icon. You will then see some on your phone info.
6. Click on "Server" and enter your username and password from the email you got at step 2.
7. Click on "Unlocking" + Read Boodloading code. Voila! Copy paste your code somewhere safe!
After giving me my code, my phone shut down. I just re-started it and all was fine.
(To get a better idea, the youtube video v=Lgph755EbKEcovers steps 4 to 7.)
I just did some searching, in my backup images. And I found the unlock code inside the "splash2.img"
/dev/block/mmcblk0p19
Still looking into possible ways to read this from inside the phone, and from locked phone too.
NVM, I think splash2.img is just some type of log file
Is there any other way to get the bootloader unlock code? I tried to buy credits and they refunded me because my paypal is not verified.
Or does anybody out there have a license and would be willing to run my IMEI to get my code? I am at a loss of what else to do.

Why don't you just verify your PayPal or use a credit card?
Someone can't just run your IMEI to get an unlock code. Only way is if they reprogram their device to use your IMEI. That's illegal.
You should NEVER under any circumstances just hand it out. Especially with this tool. Someone with this tool could steal your IMEI and knock you offline.
