Is my second hand S6 edge rooted? - Galaxy S6 Edge General

Hi,
I got a second-hand s6 edge from someone(don't ask from whom, I don't know either ) & it's not rooted. At least it doesn't have any superuser app to permit root access. I also checked using Root Checker & it couldn't detect root. Neither it has any custom recovery installed nor it gives any problem using banking apps.
But... though it's already in Nougat, when I go to system update manually, it says that your devices have been modified in an unauthorized way, bla bla bla... (see screenshot). It also said the same in another option but I can't remember where.
So, what's could possibly have happened with my device?
Also, dialing *#0000# doesn't show any option but it is supposed to show...
I want to root it(not now though) ^_^

Samsung Pay on Rooted (0x1 Status) Phone

OK guys, sorry I know this has been brought up a bit, but I've been determined to find a solution. I've been trying to get Samsung Pay to work. More specifically because I use it a lot and have a Gear S3 that I want it to work with.
Yes I did research before I rooted, and it appeared there were many solutions to this problem, but I've tried them all and none have worked. I just want to see if anyone at all has got this working. Maybe I can update with different things everyones tried as we go. I feel like there HAS to be a way to make this work. If anyone has gotten this to work in any way, please post!
My Phone: SM-G950F
Knox Status: 0x1 (Faked 0x0 by Magisk)
ROM: Renovate Ice 5.1
CSC Version: SPE (Spain)
From my research, the SPE seems to be open to Samsung pay along with some others. I have encountered different error messages with different combinations of software, hiding Samsung Pay in Magisk, etc. It might just be due to newer and older version of Samsung Pay
Things I've tried:
Fake 0x0 with Magisk, v13.6, 13.7, 14.0
Hide root status with Magisk
1.3.7 Samsung Pay Gear Plug-In (I found somewhere that said this version works, although it just keeps updating for me)
Moved /system/xbin/busybox to SD card
Error message I'm receiving on latest software: Access Denied: Samsung Pay has been locked due to an unauthorized modification. Tap the link below to call customer service and unlock Samsung Pay (RD-SXA).
Note, I have not tried calling customer service yet, that will likely be my next step. I will just tell them I bought the phone on eBay and I'm getting this message. I doubt there is anything they can do, but it's worth a try.
Please don't grill me, I know basically everyone claims this is NOT possible with 0x1 due to hardware fuse, etc. I know this community is strong and I've seen people pull off the impossible before, just hoping to get this to work so my S3 Gear doesn't become a paper weight.
The actual functionalities of Samsung Pay (MST for example) are handled by trusted apps running in secure world. Root in normal world does not affect anything there. Saying that we can fool normal world apps, we still can't fool the TA running in secure world. So even though Samsung Pay app can launch, it won't be able to function in the end.
OK, I have an update. I was able to get Samsung Pay (mobile version) to work! The regular version still gives me an error, but if I launch from my watch, it pulls the mobile version instead.
Here's what I did:
**NOTE: This only works if you have a Gear S3, I have not been able to get the full version of Samsung Pay to work on the phone yet.
1. Boot into recovery
2. Wipe all partitions except the SD Card and OTG
3. Installed Renovate Ice 5.1
4. Select Custom CSC during install and chose "214 Spain"
5. At the end of setup, don't reboot, flash magisk again manually (It's installed in the ROM, however this is the only way I found to get the icon to show up)
6. Open Magisk Manager
7. Click Menu and go to "Magisk Hide"
8. Search for "Pay" and check all apps that show up
9. Update all apps and connect S3 as a new device (you can restore apps/settings)
10. Use root explorer to /system/xbin and move busybox to your SD card (Make sure it doesn't exist on internal storage, if it's present, app will fail)
11. Launch Magisk Manager again and search for "Pay", again make sure all are checked, for me there was another new Gear version that I had to check to hide
12. Reboot the phone
13. Hold down top button on S3 to launch Samsung Pay
14. Proceed through wizard and add a card or "Launch" Samsung Pay on the phone from the S3
15. The Samsung Mobile app should open correctly on the phone and let you add cards etc.
If you try to add busybox back and reboot, it will not work. And again, the actual "Samsung Pay" app on the phone does NOT work, I still get an error. Maybe it's not possible.

Nice findings! So Gear S3 has stand alone pay capability even with non-Samsung devices?

I'm not sure about non Samsung devices. All I'm saying is there are 2 versions of Samsung Pay on the S8, one standard version that you would use if you didn't have a Gear S3 and another version that s triggered from the S3 but then runs on phone. That's the one I can get to work.
Sent from my SM-G950F using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Does this method work with renovate 7.2? I have followed the steps and appears denied access
Same problem here, and I live in Spain too!
Does it work with other rom?
I have an sm 930f with 0x1 status, also. since the error message has changed and suggests "call customer service to unlock samsung pay at 0330 726 7729" I just got off the phone with UK customer service.
1. agent didn't know anything about unlocking samsung pay
2. since I reside in the U..S he suggested I had to call U.S customer service which I have already done and they know nothing about unlocking samsung pay. Perhaps there's a change in the works but not yet.
I wonder what happens if the flash counter hits 0x9. One more flash and it hits 0x10 or does it go back to 0x0??

Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized

Hi everyone,
Straight to the point, I bought Samsung S7 Edge second-hand and I get trouble in lagging and always show notification of "Unauthorized actions have been detected. Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes."
This problems also tangled me when I'm using Samsung Health...:crying::crying::crying:
As basic situation, I know it had been root and unroot before I bought this phone.
Is anyone can help me to get rid off?:crying::crying:
samsung health, android pay and secure folder won't work on device that has root or have been rooted. firstly, to get rid of the annoying notification, install titanium backup, grant root rights if you are still rooted, locate the apk "security log agent and freeze it. If not, install latest twrp and root with magisk or supersu, just search online how to do so. lastly , to get rid of the lagging and notification . flash latest stock rom via odin and everything would be fine ..just remember that your knox is tripped forever so don't expect samsung health would work after removing root or getting back to latest stock ..hope this helps and good luck

You gotta be kidding me. All Samsung Official apps are working you say? Samsung Pay, Health etc?

Do I need to root my S8 in order to flash an updated stock ROM?

I am very new to all of this, so I am sorry if I'm ignorant about it, and honestly I don´t even have any interest in rooting my device (SM-G950FD), but when I check for new updates, it says the cellphone is already updated to the latest version (Is not, it is currently on 8.0).
I recently bought this phone to a friend and he claims to have never rooted the device, nevertheless, some things point to it being rooted. When I try to use the Samsung Pass App, a text pops up and says "You can't use the app because you rooted your cellphone." Besides this, I can't update the phone or sync my google photos pictures. I installed a root checker app, and it says "Sorry! Root acces is not properly installed on this device."
I was planning on followint the steps of a youtube video from HighOnAndroid called "How to Unroot Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus w/ Stock Firmware!" But I am afraid I can brick my phone if it's not already rooted. So I don´t know if I should just follow those steps, or first root my device (Even if I don´t know if it´s rooted yet) and then fo what the video says.
Thanks!

1. No you don't need to root to upgrade your phone.
2. You can check in download mode to see if you phone has been modified / rooted. Should have a line saying something like Warranty Void. 0 means phone not modify, 1 means phone is modified.
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...-s8-into-recovery-mode-download-mode-0177223/
3. You can download firmware from sammobil.com or updato.com ( there are other site as well ). But download speed are slow. You also use PC app like samfirm or frija to download latest firmware.

**problem with root**

I have a 3 year old galaxy s7 edge. And recently i tried to root it, and i think i didn't succeed in that completely. Because with root checker my device shows its rooted. But my supersu got disappeared after couple of hours. And i tried to install other root managers (king root) but now i cannot get root access to any apps.
My device is still rooted as per root checker. What should i do now? How can I unroot the device?
Which rom are you running?
And is a custom recovery installed on your phone?
Ultimately you want to unroot your phone?
Just want to do some banking
Stock android 8.0. And i haven't installed any custom recovery either. This is not my daily driver. This was my brother's old phone. So i haven'tdone any thing interesting to this device. I was simply using this for a second sim card only. Now i want to do some banking transactions from this phone and those apps doesnt let me from a rooted device. Is there an easy way to unroot this? Or an easy way to hide the root for the apps to work?

Need help with app that is demanding unrooting.

Hi!
I have issue with app on my S7 Edge that demands me to unroot. I rooted my phone 5 years ago or more and I don't remember a thing about it. I did this to permanently remove bloatware. Only way I know to unroot is to flash stock-rom again but I don't want to loose my hard effort on debloating + data and so on. Is there any tricks for that? Like hide/remove su binary? I really don't remember where to start. Also with factory reset or something I cant remember I lost root access partially - that is apps can still tell that phone is rooted (root checker tells that root access is available but then also orange warning that root access is not properly installed on this device). But they can't request root privilege for some reason. But I still have this custom recovery rom installed where I have basically root access to phone - do you think I could use this to somehow hide temporarily root from my app that is complaining about it and then later restore root to the full - that is to make apps able to request root access again? I would like to keep my apps/data and I remember them getting lost in process of rooting due to some samsung encryption crap - not sure how to check data/app loss would be case now since I did it so long time ago. Could anyone help me out?
For documentation purposes. So in my case I had lost root with factory reset. I had to boot into TWRP and re-flash super su. Difference from official tutorial: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ial-twrp-for-galaxy-s7-edge-hero2lte.3334084/ was that in step 9 my phone did not complain about dm-verity,. I did not have to disable encryption and I did not loose my data. Someone may correct me but it was because I had already rooted in past and the most likely cause for "loosing" root was doing factory reset. PS I have european model so I am not sure how much it makes this tutorial different.
Now what is left to do is come up with ideas how to hide root from 1 specific app in Android 7.
