Hello, is there any safe method of root and some good rom type cyanogenmod?. Thank you.
+1 for this. I would like to see a stock Android ROM and would donate to help development.
We currently don't have any kernel sources for this device and not so many people have it, so I think a custom ROM is a question of future.

Custom ROMs already exist, I found them on a Russian forum. I'm on mobile right now, will dig up a link tomorrow.

This custom ROM is just a slightly modded EMUI, based on Russian or Chinese official firmware. It doesn't require building from sources and differs only in built-in root, some pre-installed apps and custom boot animation. It's not what topic starter wants.

I may be wrong here but I read hauwei provides kernel sources on demand (http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-6/general/huawei-provide-kernel-source-code-t3328551). May be we should mail them asking for sources ?

You may have a try, why not? I'm not a ROM developer and I can't say I don't like EMUI (I wouldn't buy the tablet then). If someone gets the sources, it could speed up the development of something more pure-Android. People on 4PDA would be thankful to anyone who brings such a thing and possibly will help developing something.
As for me, I'd better dig into EMUI properties and flags. (/cust folder, etc...)

This site was designed for developers by developers. It's purpose is for developers to share their work and work together. It is not a toy store for members to special order development for their devices. Maybe you should try to learn how to build a ROM for yourself. Then perhaps you might see how difficult it is. How much time it takes. The amount of skill and practice it requires...
Maybe then, you might just see, when a member begs or demands that YOU build a ROM for him, how disrespectful and rude it really is.

Hey Folks, The Mi A2 Screen lock looks awesome as it is clean with the time at one corner of the screen. Since I am not a developer so I am not aware how to port it. Hence I am requesting and hoping if someone would do it!

Maybe the forum were opened before A2 official images came out, then the wrong picture on top.
You can see any unboxing/review video of Mi A2 on YouTube to see the Android One lockscreen.

On my Nexus 6 on nougat I used this Xposed module to modify stock lockscreen
I'm not sure if it will work on Oreo but you can try
With this module you can place the clock or any other widget where you want
I suggest you to use magisk Xposed installation as it is easy to fix if phone won't boot or system UI crash
(Twrp, delete the magisk.IMG inside /data/adb)

Please port miui ROM for MiA1
You can just buy the Mi 6X. It's basically the same device but with MIUI installed on it.

We are on mia1 forum on a mia1 thread about MIUI lockscreen
So it was easiest to understand that you spoke about the mia1 twin the mi5x
The guy have a mia1 and want a MIUI lockscreen
So it's more logical for me to buy a mi5x
read the title yourself again and you'll get that it's just a matter of opinion...
Don't push man I've been gentle ! Just a little post with a sympatic smiley

Is is still not 100% sure but the devs may find a way to enable it. We are just unlucky with this phone - even the oldest xiaomi phones got global dev rom but ours is "only" sold in China so there isn't a global dev support. Shame Xiaomi
But why they locked camera2api my God

Yep, i can confirm it. You CAN'T enable Camera2api, if you try to activate you break the camera, even the stock one and must reflash the rom
Why everyone need camera 2 API. Miui camera is best, I test on miui 9 Google camera and it is the same. Only advantage of camera api it is possibility to write RAW file, but only some people want it
Is treble enabled? Maybe the old method of enabling camera HAL3 doesn't work on 8.1.
Check this out:

Hey so the question in the title I want to install a custom rom and kernel on my old J510H which has dual sims in it which is really important to me.
My question is can someone recommend me a kernel and rom that won't ruin this function? Is it at all a concern? or am i just paranoid?
Thanks!

J516? I've looked at roms in this forum:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...16-roms-kernels-recoveries--other-development
I was told to try odyssey note 8 v1

Yes i meant j5 2016 forum
That's a right forum
And about odyssey rom
I have tried it on my j515
Nice rom with a full ported features from note 8
Absolutely amazing rom but for me it used a battery a lot and a little unstable (you should check for your self maybe it's much better for you)
Personally my recemndtion is aosp which is light weight and free to choose what you want
But that model i think maybe be the same as a 2015 model and sim 2's data doesn't work(on H models)(still say maybe, this thing was with me from oreo with aosp)
Other things are ok
You know you should look for what is best for you and just try roms one by one
