I have the above unit and for the first week it worked properly. Dimmed when lights on, undimmed when lights off.
Now I have an issue where when I start the car(lights off) the screen is always dim. I have to turn on and off the lights to get it back bright or I have to manually press the Dim/Brighten button on AGAMA Car Launcher.
I removed AGAMA launcher to see if that was it, I factory reset in the menu option and I also did a pin reset on the face of the unit. It's still the same way ...
Any ideas?
Solution. I had the touch button lights set to always on. Turning that off fixed it. Bug in firmware probably. Got the info from 4PDA.

Today I had an alarm set, when the alarm went off I tapped hit the power button on the top of my phone to turn the screen off (and hopefully the alarm... but only the screen went off). The alarm continued to go, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get the screen to come back on.
I can fully interact with the phone (as if the screen was on). For example, pressing talk twice redailed my last call. Pressing power prompted to shut the phone off (could hear the "blurp"), etc.
So, after shutting the phone off (or resetting with pinhole reset), the display works fine while it is displaying the "Cingular - Raising the Bar" nonsense. As soon as that screen is done (where it would have normally showed the today screen), the screen just goes off...
Any ideas?

nevermind, when I put it under a bright light I realized the screen was on, the backlight was just off... somehow I must have hit some shortcut to turn the backlight off.

Don't sound too relieved...
Say hello to the Backlight bug.
You're backlight will keep setting itself to the lowest setting after every soft-reset, when you let it go into stand-by itself.
I'm still sufferering from it. It started when i first installed PocketZenphone.
So just want to give u a warning. Everytime you reset your phone, remember not to let it go into standby itself. Either tap the power button and turn the screen off, then turn it on agan. Otherwise, the Backlight will go to low again.
Hi all,
I have installed tomtom 6.0 and tried to fix the back light problem. I believe I have fixed the backlight problem, but now when I connect my himalaya to the cradle, the backlight goes off. And even when I run tomtom the backlight is off. Hard to see. Once I closes off tomtom the backlight comes on. Does any one have a solution for it?
Thanks
Re backlight
This may be a bit obvious but have you checked the backlight options? go to start, settings, click on the system tab at the bottom, then go to the back light. Once you tap on backlight you have a few options turn backlight on or off on battery power, or the same when on external power, choose which suits you best. Hope this helps you

I have a HTC Magic from Orange (PL), unmodified, without root access, Android 1.5 out-of-box. Recently, I've noticed annoying issue on my phone. If I don't press "end call" red button to turn screen off, it will be on forever - the phone is on the desk for 15 minutes, I'm not touching it, and the backlight is still on, with my Android desktop (not lock-screen) on the screen. It's look like there is no timeout to turning backlight and screen off, although this was working some time ago. I've tried to change settings like timeout value in minutes, WiFi sleep mode etc. but without success. It is so annoying that I have to remember now to press red button after using a phone. Anyone can help me?
P.S.: I don't have aFile or Dark Keys installed.
Head-unit JY-UOS03N4GS, Firmware from August 2019
Illumination Cable and + and Ignition are connected correctly.
I can change the button light color in the setting to green. So when I switch on the car light they are green, when I switch off the light the buttons are off, as it is normal.
But after I turn off the car and turn on it again, the button light color go back to blue with Car Lights off and violett with Lights on. When I turn off the car, the Buttons keep shining blue for some minutes.
The settings page keeps on showing the right color for the keys *green* that I had chosen. That means the color is saved, but the keys show other colors....
After a reset, the colors are correct again until turning off the car and turning it on again.
All other settings keep saved when turning off the car.
Does anybody have the same problem and found a solution?

Sorry. I don't know and answer, but you mention "Firmware from August 2019".
The latest downloadable firmware from Joying is of 21 June. Are you sure?
And as a question: if you turn on the ignition again (after having it shut off for at least 4 minutes), is it fast-booting in 2 seconds? or does it take 40-50 seconds?

And what do you mean with "after a reset"? A reset via the RST pinhole means that all settings are gone, not just the unit led lights. So what do you do? a reboot?

Firmware:
Joying has sent it to me (support)
But,where can I find the downloadable firmwares?
Reset:
Pressing for a second the pinhole does not erase all the settings in my unit, just the color of the buttons are correct again. All the Radio-Stations keep saved and most other settings...
Do I have to press it for a longer time to achieve a full reset?
Hi, please can someone tell me how to force the key lights to remain on without car headlights being turned on? Model is 8227L. Factory settings (code 8888) does not have an option for this. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Ok. I think I can help as I just did this. In factory settings (8888). Look for key light settings.
You will get a slider with RGB colours. However mine only has a white LED in the touch keys. There shld be 3 check boxes on the bottom of this page.
One of them is the option to keep the lights on. You can also turn down the brightness from the slider.
I'll get the name of the option when I reach the car.
(It's not the flicker option, or the multicolor option) it's the other one.
Edit seems not to be working.
In Key light Light Settings
Make sure brightness is set correctly (below the RGB Slider)
The three options Are
1. "Whether to turn on the colorful lights"
2. "Open Light"
3. "Flicker key light control switch"
To get mine to stay on, I selected #1, saved and exited out if the factory settings.
Hope it helps.
