I spend about 12 hours for research.
First, it dont have OEM in dev setting because it's china/hk version
Second, it have Snapdragon, i heard it just permanent locked something so you cant root
I'm just use Crom -> Unlock bootloader -> Done
Installed TWRP, but once when i'm installed magisk in TWRP, it just stucked in boot screen (Samsung galaxy, Set warranty bit :kernel)
There are two ROM that i can restore when i'm ****ed up something
SM-G9500_3_20201026093804_6u9jdnhvv2_fac (Hongkong)
SM-G9500_3_20201028122134_zvr2qm7tvi_fac (China)
non-root or rooted doesn't matter much but rooted still better for me
Thank you

hope i am not violating any forum rules here, as i know how strict they can be. I am not a noob in this area, ive rooted and flashed all my phones since my droid x on. I miss my s-off HTC so bad. I did 5 minutes of research and thought all Galaxy S7s were bootloader/recovery unlockable...only to find out the american versions arent after im stuck with s Sprint SM-G930P. I was able to root and install xposed with the engineer boot.img and odin. Since TWRP or recovery isnt an option I have tried for months to systemless root this thing to hide root and pass safetynet. Ive tried flashfire to flash SU systemless 2.78SR5 and root switch and am on android 6.0.1 PE1 firmware following guides here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/how-to/sm-g930p-root-t3410604 but after factory reseting and trying Rootswitch (will hide exposed but not root with flashfire installing it since bootloader lock doesnt allow TWRP) I piddled with magisk but I am not on the Equinox unlockable s7 and am just at a loss here. Any one out there know of a way to hide root with this version of S7? Im out of ideas and any help here is appreciated. When i flashfire Supersu i get the locked out modified boot img error, but selecting AP and flashing the engineer boot img will get me back up rooted but root switch is a no go. I can use buildprop/rootzwitch to set selinux permissive sstatus but still fail. I refuse to let samsung not let me root my phone properly. I ser xposed modules like snorlax being updated so there seems to be a way to use xposed modules in PoGo while hiding root/xpised but every guide i see leads to TWRP instructions. Can i adb/terminal install magisk/rootswitch? and stiil use modules? (Cart before the horse question seeing as right now i cant bypass safetynet.) HELP!!
Have you made any more progress with this by chance?
Gone are the days where it was easy to root and even encrypt androids. Now with these locked boot loaders, not no downgrade its becoming a hassle. Thankfully, its becoming obsolete to root.
Ive been trying to root and encrypt an s7 edge but its near im possible always push one thing and another pops out. Iv tried various roms on nougat, tried a few when i was on MM but i flashed the BL and now downgrading is a hassle. The idiots even use solidrars so you cant modify the roms to use different sets of BL.
Ive not come across ANY s7 edge thats rooted and enrypted even on custom roms.
Its either become rooted with the risk of data in rong hands through flashing recovery, should it get stolen or no root but stay completely stock which is just as bad.
Anyone have a guide or anything that will make the s7e encrypted and rooted? I not bothered about not being able to flash throu twrp as lng as it cant decrypt it. even better if twrp could decrypt with password but thats probably asking too much lool !
I dont want to go on 8.0 yet, as it could flash BL and no more nougat.
Any one have a guide or anything thatl make it encrypted with root ?
This custom ROM is as close to stock as possible less the unnecessary bloat, with root AND has the ability to encrypt. There is an earlier version (5.4?) which is Nougat and the current version is Oreo. Make sure you follow the instructions and then you'll have an encrypted rooted phone running Nougat or even Oreo:
[ROM][G935F/FD][ALEXNDR] * U2ERF4 (Oreo) * DevBase v5.8 * Encryption support [Jul-03]

Days ago, I had the wonderful idea of installing TWRP. I didn't want to install a custom ROM, I simply wanted TWRP + the current android. However, after I installed TWRP, the Android 8.0 was wiped out. I thought I would still keep the Android 8...
I tried to install many older versions (from April, June, July, August) of the stock ROM 8.0 via Odin, but all of them failed (as far as I learned, they failed because they had an older version than the Bootloader I had installed), then I successfully installed a stock ROM build from December.
Now, my phone doesn't pass the SafetyNet Test. It fails on "CTS profile match" (I read on the internet it is due to the unlocked Bootloader).
Interesting thing is: when I browse to "Developer Options -> OEM unlock", it says "Bootloader is already unlocked", even if the option is unset.
Now I have no TWRP (and I don't want to play with it anymore) and I have no root access.
Does anyone know how to "relock" the Bootloader or do anything that will allow me to pass the SafetyNet Test?
Hello.... so I am pretty new to the whole root thing I have rooted 2 devices in the past but they were relatively easy to root. One was an s4 which all I did was download towelroot and run it and bam root. The other was a moto z3 play which I had to unlock bootloader, enter fastboot, flash twrp then flash magisk manager and then bam root. But with this s8 I am so lost like I have no idea how to unlock the bootloader since there is no OEM unlock thing in development options and I have never once used Odin so I have no clue how to use it. If there is someone out there that has rooted this device and can walk me through rooting it I would very very much so appreciate it. Thank you.
Hi!
There are plenty of threads here how to root.
Just look around.
Also, your phone's bootloader cannot be unlocked.
Hi, has anyone been able to use Google pay with unlocked bootloader (no root or custom recovery)?
I recently upgraded to Android 10 OOS with clean flash and thought to leave it stock (I had rooted and unlocked bootloader earlier. )
If there's no other way to run Google pay, I might as well root it and use Magisk hide.
Thanks in advance.
