Let me note: I am not a dev nor programmer.
With the similiarities of the P6800 and the Verizon 7.7, I threw together a rom w/ stock SCH-I815 samsung/verizon kernel using the P6800 frameworks and apps into the Verizon 7.7 and removed most bloat. The LTE/Verizon antennas aren't recognized by the device at all but everything else was working.
Now, you can't swap the phone.apk's around without the framework's else you'll experience FCs. So obviously I'll need to use the base stock apps and frameworks and go through the 2 framework files hunting about.
Has anyone else with the Verizon 7.7 taken a look into this?
I'm curious if you've made any progress on this?
Not yet, probably be a week before I even look through the files again. But I believe it's fully possible to get phone use

i think you will need to find samsung modem for verzon networks, does verizon have a galaxy note or sgs2?
although your modem firmware probably has voice disabled, may have to find modem manufacturer and try to flash custom firmware.

I'm happy enough using GrooveIP for google voice calling. What I'd really like is if we could activate the phone profile in bluetooth (or will that just come with enabling the proper phone part in the 7.7?).
As of now i can use GrooveIP and bluetooth to listen and speak, but it won't let the bluetooth device answer/hang up/transfer address book/show caller ID (on the Verizon LTE 7.7)
Doesn't verizon require some sort of signed telephony to work properly on their network

I got no idea but with the other packs it didn't detect the radio at all. This is keeping the vzw radio partition stock. I like the ideas and really wish the note was verizon as that'd help figure things out.

It does for LTE but cdma service doesn't use sim

Seeing as your data account won't have any provisioning for voice usage, even if you DID get a working modem and a modified framework to allow for phone functionality on the device, I doubt that you'd actually be able to made or receive a phone call due to Verizon's limitations at the account and provisioning level anyway.
Point is, it's a CDMA device, and thus your service is attached to the device itself, not the SIM card (except for LTE data). Basically, you can't just provision service to the SIM card alone, and then simply swap it into a different device. So if you got the modem and the framework working, and you called in to Verizon customer service and asked to provision your line for voice, they'll just be like "Umm, no... We never INTENDED for you to use that device as a phone, so no... You want a phone? Buy a phone. You want a tablet? Buy a tablet. You want to do both in one device? We won't allow that because that loses us money that we would be getting by having you either subscribe to two lines, or charge you extra to tether..."
There is a much simpler solution however.
Ditch ANY CDMA carrier in favour of a GSM carrier instead, preferably one that uses the same compatible frequencies adopted by the rest of the world, like AT&T (and MVNO's based off of AT&T's network), and buy the P6800.
The moral of this story is this: if you want the latest devices, with the best features, you're NOT going to find them in the north American market, EVER, at all, period; you're just going to find watered-down, gimped, bloated, and locked-down versions of the international models. You HAVE to import. If you're going to import, you HAVE to use a GSM service provider... That's just the way it is. It sucks, I know, but it is what it is.
I would have to agree, the GSM version would be best. It would be near impossible to make this happen. Of course if I was stick with one, I would try everything I could as well. I'd probably fail miserably and go for something like GrooveIP.

I move my SIM between devices all the time and have never needed to call VZ to provision the new device. Voice and data just work.

I can CONFIRM the following:
I have a VZ tab 7.7 with 5GB data plan and I have a VZ Razr with voice/unlimited data plan.
Both are LTE devices and hence use (micro) SIM cards. In "My Verizon" even the tab has a phone number assigned to it's "line". A call to that number just rings but obviously nothing on the tab.
BUT...
Put the tab sim in the phone and YES it will ring if you call that number! Even TXT in/out works! I assume they will just charge me per txt and per min phone use BUT IT WORKS in a PHONE.
And the kicker is, the unlimited PHONE SIM also works in the TAB! I immediately get LTE data and can surf with the tab. Of course at that point calls and texts to that phone number are "ignored" by the tab's neutered modem.
Lesson learned:
IF there was a way to flash a modem, say for example from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to the VZ 7.7 TAB, we would have a full supersized phone in our hand. Only downside, no earpiece. So only speakerphone or BT calls I guess.
Anyway, after a little more research I also found this very interesting article:

I'm strongly considering to buy the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, but I have a question regarding the dual-SIM functionality, that I can't seem to find any information about.
One of the selling points for this phone is that both SIM cards can have data access - one with 4G and the other with 3G. Now, my question is wether both connections can be used at the same time - like bundling, for even higher throughput/coverage? I kinda suspect that you have to select which data connection to use, but it would be awesome if there is a way to have both work and active simultaneously.
If the function isn't there natively, can an app like Speedify be used to activate both connections?
I hope someone will be able to provide an answer

No. you can not use both SIM internet at a one time. Only one SIM can be use for internet that you selected.
Speedify is works like a vpn. It can use Wi-Fi and mobile data at a one time. I don't think it work on mobile data.

Hi there,
So far only one SIM can be used for data. I am wander if second SIM can work in 3G mode. I can't find any information about it. For example Huawei P9 Plus one SIM must work with 2G only.

The second sim can work on 3G for calling only if you are using the other for data. You choose which sim is the data provider.
So I've always thought WiFi Calling was interesting and when I bought this phone I knew there was no WiFi calling. Here is a method to activate WiFi calling. not sure if it works though as I have international data plans + calling.
You do this at your own risk.
1. Download Nova Launcher from the Play store.
2. Once installed add the activities widget to whatever home screen you like.
3. A window will open. Scroll all the way down to settings open it.
4. From there start scrolling until you see WiFi Calling with WiFi Calling settings right under it and long press either of them.
5. Congrats you have made it to the WiFi calling screen all you do now is hit that switch!
Encryption-
1. Do the same up until number 3.
2. click on settings and scroll until you find Encrypt Phone.
3. Do a long click and a screen will pop up and it will say something like make sure you're at 80 percent with the charger plugged in...etc
NOTE- I have not tested this option so proceed with caution.
I'll put some screenshots for those who want to see it first.
This also works to get encryption surprisingly.

If the carrier supports WiFi calling then it should work. I'm not too sure. Give it a try and see if it works if it doesn't then you can just turn it off. It should also work on any model but I only have FRD-L14 to test it with.
Just curious, have you tried to use the default launcher after you enabled wifi-calling in Nova? Will this feature still work in that case? This sounds really interesting...

I did not activate Nova at all when I used it. In the screenshots above you can see it is the default EMUI Launcher that I used to activate with.
As long as the bootloader is locked, the phone should already be encrypted.

I had not tried it but when I tried to activate it , it literally just rebooted and that's it. I only put it cause I had seen some posts about people looking for the option in settings.

Turns out, this doesn't work on my phone (FRD-L04) with T-mobile. I followed your instructions to enable the Wifi-calling setting with Nova launcher and then restarted the phone to make sure everything resets as the setting defined. Then I put the phone in the Airplane mode with only wifi signal available. Called a number for a quick test, but it asked me to connect to a cellular signal or turn off the Airplane mode first. T-mobile should have the Wifi-calling enabled on their end, and I am using their prepaid plan right now. I guess the only reason why it didn't work is Huawei has other hidden settings disabled this function at the root (not sure on the software or hardware level, though).
Let me know if anyone can make it work truly. Thanks!

You can't use WiFi calling while in airplane mode as long as you have bars it should work.
Ex. Say you're in Mexico and you got WiFi then you turn on WiFi and you should technically be able to get calls like if you where in the US.

Hmm my younger brother has a ZTE ZMAX PRO and it WiFi calling wouldn't work if he had airplane mode activated so I assumed most would work in the same way. He is on MetroPCS which is technically the same as T-Mobile

At the top I said I did not test because I have an international data plan so there is no point for me to try and use it.

Gotcha. Your method is similar to what OnePlus One people did before, and yields similar result--not really working. I guess we have to wait for Huawei to implement some function in their future EMUI release. They claimed they had a plan for EMUI 5 but not in this release in reality. Seems Huawei people are not in a hurry, possibly because the Chinese market doesn't have the demand for wifi calling.

That's true. I kinda didn't expect much from it but it will most likely be coming in a future update anyways
Using FDR-L14 with TMobile and enabling the WiFi Calling doesn't seem to do anything here as well.
That said, I am super excited to see that Huawei/Honor working on this!!!!!
My understanding is that Wi-Fi calling functionality is a combination of the radio + kernel. It's why AOSP-based ROMs have never been able to get Wi-Fi calling or SMS working, they don't have the closed-source drivers needed to make it happen. So in essence enabling it via a Menu item is simply toggling a UI switch with no back-end code to actually make the calling work.

1.) I bought Honor 8 with Nougat
2.) Called my service provider Ultra Mobile (piggy backs on T-Mobile) to enable WIFI calling, they took my E911 address and enabled it.
3.) Installed Nova
4.) Turned the WIFI calling switch to ON
5.) It didnt work in Airplane mode, it didn't work when I have WIFI and no cell reception. Not able to make calls.
This was already discussed in another thread a few weeks ago and no it definitely does not work it's just a toggle switch in settings Wi-Fi calling is not enabled on this phone. I personally tested it on AT&T sim using wifi in my basement where I can't receive a signal and multiple people tested it on T-MOBILE.
I am currently on 935U, Marshmallow 6.01 PL4 (phone is a verizon Edge s7), unrooted.
1) I have read that the samsung dialer is no longer on Nougat , nor is the Samsung caller id?
Can someone verify if this is true? From reading further, I am not sure if it is the aesthetics that have changed or the actual dialer. My favorite feature of the edge 7 is the suspected spam id and block that comes up as a call comes in and also, sthe small window that comes up at the top of the phone to answer a call when you are in another app. Can anyone who has taken verizon nougat tell me if these features are no longer available?
2) I have read that tethering is not available on nougat without tweaking. Is this the same as mobile hotspot? I currently use mobile hotspot for my tablet when I am traveling and wifi signal is poor. I connect to the mobile hotspot using bluetooth. Can someone verify whether or not this option is available on Verizon Nougat without tweaking?
3) Lastly, my phone has lagged up greatly lately, I am considering flashing back to verizon software and taking nougat. If I am unhappy, will I be able to go back to 935 Marshmallow (currently on PL4) or is reverting back to Marshmallow not a possibility.

I'm not sure if it's the dialer either, bit give hiya a trt. It's by whitepaper and blocks spam really well, plus you can submit numbers as well for blocking.

This has never been available on Verizon firmware. Not even on 6.0. Verizon ripped the feature out to force you to buy "Verizon Caller ID" instead.

"Mobile Hotspot" and "tethering" are the exact same thing. Most people who say "tethering" are referring to PDANet or whatever, because they're on grandfathered UDPs and refuse to switch to new plans. I have Wifi, Bluetooth and USB available as options for sharing my phone's LTE connection to a computer or tablet - I can even plug my phone into my router and have my router use it as the modem for my entire home network.

Generally, "lagging" is due to rogue apps and/or a corrupt cache. I would look at any apps that have suspicious permissions (why would a flashlight app need to access your contacts, for example) and dump them, and clear the cache.
As of right now, I'm running Verizon's 7.0 side by side with U 6.0.1 on two different Edges. 7.0 is beautiful and fast, but Verizon changes too much and removes too many features. If you only have one device, I would stick with the U FW and wait till next month for the U 7.0 update. My two cents.

First and most crucial thing is accessing the hidden menu aka service mode aka dialer code heaven.

Once you've done that you must enable advanced calling in settings. The beauty of it is that it can be done without having to deal with Verizon at all. It's done by accessing IMS settings.

Just a reminder/standard Android warning; use the hidden menus with caution. You know this part if you've ever messed with flashing ROMs and all that. There's potential for you to mess up your phone so, you know..

- Select 'Reset to default'
This should activate 'Advanced Calling' in the settings menu without dealing with Verizon. Keep in mind you might have to restart your phone after you reset the IMS settings to default.
- Go back to IMS settings (*#467#) after Advanced Calling is available(you should see that HD voice and video are enabled)
-Under IMS Setting, tap the first option “IMS Service switch”.
-On the next screen, make sure all the toggles are on. If any toggle is off, turn it on.
-Go back and tap “Self Provisioning”. First two options i.e. Provisioning and EAB should show “Enable”. If they show something else, tap “Toggle Provisioning” to enable them.
-Again go back and tap “IMS information”. Verify that all the settings are enabled on the IMS information screen.
-Restart your device.

I have never posted here before but I nearly had to buy a new phone because the information I am about to share was not available anywhere on the entire internet even though I had to use the starting point of the above Gentleman's information. Ok so if your Verizon Galaxy Note 4 (although it may work on other carriers as well) was not previously activated in the actual android OP (within the "advanced calling" Setting) and it happens to be on an MVNO Sim card, then the above strategy will not be enough to activate advanced calling (or WIFI calling) because unfortunately these Note 4's are so old that the OS thinks that it has to connect with a 3G tower to make a handshake with your Verizon account before it can tell your OS to proceed with activating the advanced calling. So since you cannot walk into a verizon store and have an tech guru reprogram it for you without the 3G Tower handshake, what you have to do to get it to work is you have (same with Visual Voicemail by the way) to actually enter into the IOT Hidden menu (via above method and then ##433346#) and then click Data then edit and now you are in the data programming menu and then you just need to hit HDR/1X Selection and then click LTE Only Mode and save. Finally in the IMS Setting (above) you must go into the DM configuration and click the VOLTE_Enabled setting and change the 0 to a 1. Good luck and I will take questions if you need help, and thanks for finding the info above OP!

I thought maybe my issue was related to not having HD setup prior to losing the 3G connection. As you have pointed out, that is the case. No matter what I did, I could not enable HD through the advanced calling menu. Toggling the bit was the key to the whole thing! I cannot thank you enough. I really like my Note 4. Yes, it's old, but it has a lot of great features that they just don't include on new phones. I understand that someday she will be forced to retire, but not today Verizon.... not today.

True that. In the same boat. The ONLY things missing from the Note 4 are camera2 api and faster/more consistent GPS lock. Other than that, perfect phone for me. I got VoLTE working on VZW, but their 4G coverage blows in my area, missed/dropped 75% of calls. I have nearly everything working w/ a T-Mobile SIM, except voice calls fall back to 2G/CDMA. I'd LOVE to figure out how to get VoLTE on T-Mobile's towers, but it's still usable, since T-Mobile has great 4G LTE Band 4 coverage here, and decent 2G/GSM. So far, they have not announced end of life for 2G/GSM. I have been a VZW customer since they were Bell Atlantic, like 25 years. Had the grandfathered true unlimited data plan. Their service degradation over the last few years is inexcusable. Driving around last week w/ two identical note 4's, one w/ a T-Mobile SIM, one w/ VZW was an eye opener. Should have done this 10 years ago.

a) Where these settings are actually stored?
b) Is there a way to back up/restore the settings before messing with them?
Google search has been zero help on this. I don't know if a nandroid(twrp) backup of System/Data would save/restore all the hidden dialer menu settings. Would love to know for sure. Thanks,

Your very welcome! I was not willing to give up on any of my note 4's either as they have so many features that absolutely no modern phone has such as:
IR blaster, removable battery, option of Qi charging Cover or regular cover, Heart rate, Blood pressure, O2 Level, Can connect to all 4 main GPS systems {GPS/US, GLONASS/Russia, Galileo/EU, BeiDou/China}, it works on almost all GSM & CDMA Networks including the unusual cdma networks in South America which I use every year or two when we visit my wifes family in Colombia and much more. They dont make phones that are swiss army like how this old note is, in fact I have tried other notes (including the last note that samsung made) and I absolutely hated it and took it back!
So because I just dont ever want to give up my note (it does absolutely everything I need in a phone and more) I decided to just keep messing with each value of each setting until I finally found the one that works! It was a little easier for me though because I had my wifes daily note 4 and mine daily note 4 and 2 spares to look at different settings so that when I messed up a setting I could return it to what my wifes note 4 had. The only reason I figured out the value changing thing is because one of my old android 5.1.1. note fours had the advanced calling activated when I retired it and as soon as I stuck my current sim card in it I was able to immediately make VoLte calls, so I knew there had to be a setting somewhere that would toggle it on. If anyone wants to activate Video calling on their note 4's (for free) it is actually done the same way. Simply go in to the IMS settings *#467# (which you can only do once you have unlocked the global hidden menu....see above) and make sure it is toggled on in the service switch setting first under the heading VoLte-Video Then head back into the DM Configuration and change toggle the show all values tab at the top to on and then scroll down until you see "LVC_Enabled" And change the 0 to a 1 and then to unhide the video tab in your dialer you need to keep scrolling down and find the one that says "Options _Enabled" and again change the 0 to a 1 and then scroll down and change the "VCE_Config" from 0 to 1 (it may already be a 1 though, its weird, but make sure it is a 1). Now finally Switch your phone to airplane mode and then back off and go back to the main IMS Screen and scroll down and select ims information and make sure that Video over IP is enabled. If it is not you may need to restart your phone. So what is crazy is that the video calling on this phone never worked on any MVNO's and never even worked when using verizon pre-paid, it only ever worked on this phone when I had verizon Post Paid, so I find it incredible that it can be activated like this. What it makes me wonder is if the Text message Chat feature can get activated the same way (although I havent figure that one out yet)! Anyhow my fellow note 4 lovers, I hope you do enjoy this tid bit of info!

So, I know for sure that it has to be saved someone within the backup file that you can create through android because I backed up the note 4 phone that had advanced calling activated and then did a factory reset and then used odin to install the latest Stock fw file (the one from 2020 that had the better Modem FW) and as soon as I started it up with the sim card the advanced calling was de-activated and could not be re-activated through the normal channel, but then once I restored the android (or google) backup it was automatically re-enabled after the restore was complete. I suspect it is saved someone in the actually IMS settings app (it is actually a samsung app) which I discovered using activity launcher and apk analyzer. I wonder if you could use activity laucher to figure out if your tmobile version note 4 has this system app in it? If it does have this app, I actually figured out that you can unlock this hidden menu without the verizon program on your PC (you dont even need a PC). All you actually have to do is:
Dial ##366633# on the phone then - Select the enable DM Mode on the phone, and then
After This enter main the main IOTHIDDEN MENU using ##433346# then click
- Data (takes you to Data Programming Screen)
- Edit (Data Programming)
- More (takes you to "Others" Screen)
- Click on Global Hidden Menu Selection & Change to Enabled, and boom done your now have an unlocked IMS Service menu and if you can make it here with your t-mobile phone, then you should be able to copy all the values from someone else's tmobile VoLte working Android phone regardless of what T-Mobile tells you!
Just in case anyone is wondering, I actually tried copying the Carrier Services APK and the IMS Settings APK from my android 6.0.1 phone (my daily driver) to one of my other note 4s that I recently rooted (thank you JKRuse for your ridiculously easy rooting instructions for MM) and installed Lineage 18.1 on (thank you very much Ripee For all your hard work there) to see if I could somehow get these system apps to get VoLte working on lineage (I know it was a ridiculous long shot) and NO JOY
This was a sad thing indeed because that is the only thing about my old notes here is that I cannot use the Samsung Smart things app to see what is in my family hub refrigerator (when I am out at the Grocery store) and I cannot use the sams club Scan and Go app because both of those apps require android 8.0 and above! And if it wasn't for not being able to get SMS over IP and Voice over IP working on lineage, it would be a perfect operating system for the note 4's! The only downside I could find was that I could not get a stable 4k video (which I never use anyway because it takes way too much sd card space) and the Bluetooth is not stable. But other than that it runs sooo sooo good on the note 4! It is 10 times faster than the Stock fw and then we could use modern apps! Man I wish we could all somehow work together to get VoLte on lineage and fix the Bluetooth and then Bang we have our notes for another 6 or 7 years at least (especially now that I discovered Aliexpress has sellers that are still making Note 4 battery's fresh which means they have not degraded in capacity like all the ones on amazon and ebay). Anyhow good luck!

Thanks, good info. RE: Lineage, etc, there are a lot of cool ROMS out there, but in my experience, once you move away from touchwiz, there's always gonna be some functionality that you have to give up. I've been on MODestROM v11 since I got the phone, and it's been awesome. EVERYTHING works. But, like you say, it's 6.01, and we're slowly being left behind. I'm always looking for a new phone, but every time I think I'm close there's something that horrifies me about it. No charging LED???? Really???? These companies, Apple, Google, MS, Samsung, et al, have been adopting the worst of each other's anti-consumerism 'features' for decades. Apple started it. Now we have forced updates you can't roll back, bootloaders you can't unlock (thanks, Samsung) ,windows computers with no network activity indicators, no hdd activity indicators, etc. Which is fine, I guess, if you're cool with the dumbing-down of everything. I'm not. Heaven forbid we could actually replace the ONE THING in our phone that WILL fail (the battery), and get to continue working the way we want with the hw we've learned. Oh well.

Hahaha I laugh because absolutely everything you said there are the things I tell my wife when she asked why we don't 'upgrade' our Asus work Laptops! And then of coarse you are absolutely correct about the phones! It sad because even though everything is continually being dumbed down, it is not in a good / more useful way it is always in a way that causes us the consumers to have to go more often to the mega corps tit to drink! Dave, the best battery's I have found so far (I have tried about 15-20 different aliexpress brands) are these:

Make sure you choose the NFC variety if you want to be able to use your Payment apps and other things (like nearby share). Now keep in mind that these battery's are nowhere near the capacity that they claim. I purchased a high end lithium battery stressor / capacity tester which can stress a battery up to 180watts and I tested each battery from all the different brands I purchased from aliexpress 5 times each (just to make sure I was past the break in stage of each battery) at a Constant Current of .7amps (which I found was the most accurate average that a note 4 will pull if watching videos and or gaming half the time and then just web browsing the other half) and these battery's consistently came out at that amperage with 3200ma - 3400ma capacity. The cutoff voltage was set to 2.8v which is as low as you would want to go during a stress test without damaging the battery. Anyway I say all that to say that they did seem to be the best battery's (better than original actually) even though they lie profusely on their stated capacity. I actually have another brand ordered though that seems to have good feedback so I will let you know how they go (these ones: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832682489559.html?). One final note, I would tell you all is that you will make your phone last longer if you do not have to ever take it apart to replace any components (since that almost always damages the s-pen foil film behind the OLED & motherboard) and the way you do that is you keep multiple spare battery's around and only charge the battery's in a separate charger like this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832625444390.html?
Which only cost $4.20 a piece so when one finally burns up (they seem to last about a year each when plugged in 24 hours a day) you just plug in a new one and your phones charging port remains untouched! Now, I will admit though that I do not stick to this rule 100% of the time since sometimes I am using my phone as a GPS (which drains the battery hella quick) so I go ahead and plug the phone in to my car charger when I am doing so. Anyhow, I hope that helps
