Don't know why I can't rate this thread, but just bought an e7 as a temporary phone replacement as it was cheap.
0/10
Terrible terrible phone. It's 2GB, and I know that's not enough for anything heavy, but it struggles with everything. It feels like there's no multitasking at all. All apps are closed when switched away from. Even opening the keyboard can take 10 seconds. Accidentally press the Google assistant button on the left hand side and you might as well put the phone down for 2 minutes while it launches.
I've had some cheap random phones over the years, and this is the first unusably bad one. Thought it might be like the G7 but how wrong I was.
Going to try and return it, as have hardly been able to use it.

Poor RAM management
I find that apps need to reload very often. I am using the 3G 32GB USA version of the phone. Coming from a Moto X4 with similar specs, I don't find this phone very good at managing apps in memory.

I think the Nokia is a tad aggressive - it even manages to close my Calimoto app while I'm navigating (with the screen off, using only bluetooth audio). I haven't found out how to get rid of this behaviour (it doesn't happen with, for instance, google maps)
Entire user experience is very jerky compared to my Pixel XL and Nexus 5X
Makes me what Nokia is doing with their firmware considering the hardware in the 6.1 should be more than capable of handling stock android

$100 phones are smoother than this POS
Which model? I have the 4/64 and everything has been smooth.
I have 3/32 and camera performance Suck with third party software
Using a 3GB/32GB model and Ram management on this device is very agressive apps load very often it barely keeps 1/2 apps in memory and app opening times are also long. Average memory usage on my device is only 62% ? I wish they handled the Ram better and it would have been a great experience with this beautiful device. Stock experience shouldn't be this sluggish. Otherwise the device is good just need software improvements.
Is there any solution for this poor memory management?
Well the issue about the ram management was quite annoying but as far i can see it has been fixed with the January Security Patch update.. I am using 3gb Ram variant and can switch between my apps which i am currently using at a time without any issues.. You can't expect greatness but your day to day tasks can now be done with relative ease..
I'm having this issue still. If I'm in something like Pokemon Go, and I switch to Messaging to reply to someone, and switch back, it has to reload the whole game. My Huawei Honor 7X handles this no problem, and it's got very similar specs.

Tbh its not the hardware that's the issue here. Its the software. Switch to omni and that issue will go away

ram management in pie is terrible.i try everything but nothing change. I hope fix it before i sell my phone. Looks like a device with 2 gb ram.
Until 9.0.3, i used to minimize pubg, then reopen it after 5-6hours. And woah the app still is preloaded. So i can just tap and play right on.
But after the update it doesn’t even preloads within two hours. Not that um Super annoyed. But it was better previously.

Heavy load on my E5 causes things to slow down to a crawl. In the devices defense I enjoy 3rd party skins and trying to do too much on the little bastard. I've had apps completely crash all at once and I have come to the conclusion that this will be the very last time I purchase a phone under 4 gigs of RAM. I truly love Motorola and hope that they bring something that makes me feel like I did when I first got my Droid x back in the early to mid 2000s, I switched over to Moto from HTC and never looked back. Now I'm thinking of switching again, unless Lenovo/Motorola bring a device that can really just amaze me again. Initially the removable battery sold me on this one, nostalgic what can I say. Back to the RAM, simple games have issues, and freeze up the entire device, luckily haven't had to pull the battery yet.

App launch speed

Good for the price of 100USD
not really, this phone is garbage and my HTC HD2 was faster 15 years ago, so do not buy it
After a year of usage you're going to notice gow it slows down quite a bit, i'm a root+greenify user and when i don't stop my apps it just slow way too much.

thanks for reporting that. I only have 12 days with the phone, but I already know how it will be in a year
its slow af, if youre looking for something cheap, this isnt it, In my opinion the only reason to get this kind of phones is the signal in rural areas (it works on my country at least) but look up how it would work on wherever you are

Despite me having an 8gb 865+ version the Multitasking experience is good it keeps most of my daily use apps in memory also the software optimization is good and it doesn't aggressively kill apps.
It is fantastic, the experience of having a somewhat demanding app (PUBG), at least 2 other games on the background (Skullgirls, Onmyoji) and switching between them without loosing continuity, is a major plus.
I´ve tried also with gaming-browising-video apps and never had a stutter or app closing. It feels really fast and reliable.
Think the Flash designed this device!!
