uninstalled Magisk, integrity issue, needs factory reset?? - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I'm in the situation described here with my G950F not letting me in: I had Magisk installed, then flashed stock boot.img. Stock boot rejected my pattern to unlock encryption. I then reflashed the patched boot images I used before. Phone accepts my pattern but complains about an integrity issue and calls for a factory reset.
Any chance to go from here without data wipe?
Thank you

TWRP corrupted my data?

So I went ahead and started to root my Nexus 6P. I installed the systemless modified boot.img and TWRP, then I sideloaded the systemless SuperSU in TWRP. I am encrypted and TWRP can decrypt still, however when I try to boot the phone, I get the Decryption unsuccessful message and it wants me to reset the phone. I hit reset, it factory resets in TWRP, and it just comes to the same screen upon boot. Any ideas?
Just flashed the userdata.img and system.img parts of the factory image, upon boot I get a message saying there is an internal error in the device and to contact the manufacturer. I just flashed the stock bootloader, boot.img, radio, system, userdata and now it is just stuck on the boot animation. =(
Just used the flash-all.bat in the factory image and now it is working again. Not sure what caused the problem, I know others are using the systemless root method, so I have no idea.

Encrypting the phone resulted in a bootloop

Hi,
I'm on latest M version, latest TWRP, systemless root and Despair kernel 3.1.
When I first installed TWRP it couldn't decrypt partitions, so I had to install a kernel that disables force encrypt and factory reset the phone. So I ended up with un-encrypted partitions.
Now, TWRP supports decryption so I thought to encrypt the partitions. I went to Security -> Encrypt phone. This has been hanging on Android animation logo for 2.5hrs and no indication when it will finish.
Has anyone had a similar problem ?
What are my chances that it will complete gracefully and I wont need to factory reset the phone once again?

Chances are very low. I had the same issue and the only way I was able to fix it was to use the Google factory image and completely wipe the phone. Then boot it before flashing anything including TWRP. It encrypts in about a minute. Setup the phone, and then flash TWRP, modified root boot image if you want, and the corresponding SU zip.

Recovery deleting data partition by itself

This might be the weirdest Issue i've ever had with a phone.
Everytime I turn my phone off, 5 minutes after it it boots into the recovery and deletes the data partition.
I have no idea what the hell could cause this, but it's making my phone unusable -.-
I'm not sure if you've unlocked the bootloader and installed an alternate recovery (e.g one of the various TWRP versions), but apparently there is a situation where after a nandroid restore the data partition will get automatically reset. I'm hazy on the why but I think it is due to detection of an issue which OOS thinks is a hack and the reset is a safety feature. One of the TWRP versions can make sure that does not happen. Use the latest TWRP from the user @xdvs23.
Good Luck
I've experienced similar issues on another phone. What I think happened is a security feature has been tripped, and the bootloader knows that it has to perform a data reset because of a hidden flag somewhere in the bootloader partitions.
Your custom recovery clears user data, but does not reset the flag. Hence the loop.
Flash stock recovery.
Let the data reset happen and let it clear user data automatically one last time.
It should be the last.
You can then flash your custom recovery (or not).
I've always used stock recovery on my devices since I ran into that issue.
To flash, I use FlashFire or I boot the recovery with fastboot directly. Works the same.

Mi A1 Forced Encryption

I'm sorry if this is posted again but I can't find anything about my problem.
My Mi A1 in unrooted.
I had installed gcam without rooting it to continue receiving OTA, after the latest update I wanted to disable gcam. During the process the application unlocked the bootloader but didnt lock it again.
When I disabled it after the reboot my phone did a factory reset and enrypted itself. I want to decrypt my phone so I used some ways I found on the internet like:
Simple factory reset.
Locked bootloader.
Factory reset again, even though after the lock it did it itself.
Flashed fastboot stock rom.
Flashed twrp read only, wiped system and flashed fastoboot stock rom again!
Still the phone forced encrypt itself after every way I tried:
For gcam I used this way: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/tool-google-camera-root-magisk-enable-t3747585
I didn't check the thread because I already had the app to do the installation.
For fastboot installation I used this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/ota-official-fastboot-image-n2g47h-7-12-t3728929
EDIT: What if I unlock the bootloader with MiUnlock and relock it via fastboot?
Phone is encrypted by default. Why would you want to have it decrypted? But if you insist.. you have to install magisk, disable forced encryption and reformat data partition in TWRP.
Locking or unlocking the bootloader after May update wipes your data, this is normal for Android and now our phones.
Encryption is default, it would have been encrypted before the wipe as it is now after the wipe, why do you want it unencrypted?

Thank you very much, I never experienced this again after unlocking so I thought it was because of the encrypt, I hadn't checked if it was encrypted before the wipe and I assumed it wasn't.

I didn't know the phone was encrypted by default.
Thank you for the possible way though.
Yeah, it is encrypted by default and hw encryption is used. So don't think that it can affect your performance in any way.

After reformatting data partition, do I need to do anything else?

Keep Magisk installed, otherwise it will probably get encrypted again by stock boot image. Not sure, I didn't try it.. I want my data secure.

Help? Decryption unsuccessful The password you entered is correct

I've used substratum theme but my phone went completely black after reboot. Trying to remove substratum I've used Wondershare MobileGo (I know it was a mistake but it popped up as a first solution I've found on reddit). It obviously didn't work, so I've proceeded to make factory reset in TWRP. This didn't work. When I reboot I'm stuck with TWRP. If I perform hard reset I'm able to go past that using twrp and rebooting the system but I got this message: Decryption unsuccessful The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. I'm thinking about flashing stock rom again (should I use twrp or LGUP?) or should I try one more option?
