Hello!
I've got the IN2025 (global/NA) version of the OP8Pro and have been running Open Beta since it released. I want to downstep to the Stable branch of releases as I plan on selling the phone soon, so don't want it on a beta build when I do so. However I've not been able to figure out how. I attempted downloading and attempting a forced update and it didn't work, and have not been able to figure out how to get it working.
Anyone able to help?
There's a few guides for this already but generally speaking going from ob3 to stable you'll need to wipe.
1. Back up
2. Disable magisk modules
3. Download oxygen updater.
4. Take the install
5-A) I didn't use the ob3 release but at this point if you were going from 10 stable or 11 stable to 11 stable then you would click install on the update and then before rebooting you would install magisk to the slot after OTA, you can try this but may not work and shouldn't make any difference.
Or
5-B) take the update, let it wipe, set up phone, install magisk manager then flash a patched boot.img
You didn't state of you're rooted or not, If you're not rooted then follow 5-B but obviously don't bother rooting.
If you are then it's your choice.
5-A would be considered a dirty flash, I'm not sure if it will allow it coming from OB to stable, it should seem obvious when you're going through it.
I just downloaded an unofficial rom that allowed a downgrade and straight from than just to be on the safe side installed the official current firmware

Because i read something about that. Not sure if thats fake info.

I don't think you can actually do that.
From my experiences. Especially between bases ie: 11 to 10

You've got a newer version of the Firmware installed now so why would you want to even try downgrading without wiping, talk about compatibility problems

Dude what you are talking about? I don't want to try anything. I have just misread his post and thought he was able to downgrade from open beta to stable without wipe. He said "unofficial rom" and i read somewhere there were some guys able to do that with a modified rom. That's all.

Just a heads up that if you check manually for the system update it might find it right away. 5th month in a row this has worked for me first day first try, running 7.1.2 stock OTA now.
It worked right away
I love you
Has anyone on the beta got it yet? Its annoying that once again they leave us hanging for the official release and security update.

I know really annoying. I tried sideloading the full OTA over 7.12, but it refused, as the beta is a newer build date (but older code).
Anyone know of a way to keep my data, but get back onto stock 7.12?

I dont think there is a way to be honest. Just wait and hope its not as long as it was with the official nougat release.

The sideloading error might be because of the newer ADB tools. Try reverting back to platform tools rev.25.0.3.

Hey guys I recently sideloaded the latest oreo beta version on my s8 and now I am wondering if when the oficial oreo 8.0 comes out I will be able to get it OTA or will I have to use Odin to go back to BQL1 and then do the OTA update? I am obviously not part of the samsung beta program.

Theoretically, we are strongly advised to wipe out everything and start from scratch. However, I would rather do it once Oreo is out.
I couldn't help noticing an error occurred during the installation process, some SYSTEM folder or partition that couldn't be mounted due to ACCESS DENIED. Perhaps this is something related with having the device encrypted?

Yes I remember I saw the error as well, but everything seems working fine so far. I have T mobile and I know that the release of Oreo is going to take a while because they are not even in the testing phase yet.
Do you think we're going to need to flash back to BQL1 and then Oreo? Btw which Baseband version you have installed? I got ZRA6

I have ZRA5, which comes from the leaked build shared a couple of days ago. It has January 2018 security patch and build date is 01/09/2018 22:49:09.
Are you sure you have ZRA6? Perhaps you have different build from a different source. If that is so, where did you get it?
Thanks!

Yes I am positive I have ZRA6 I got it from: https://samsung.firmware.science
I came across this website looking for ways to update to Oreo. I understand that all the firmware versions he has in the website are officially released by Samsung (including the Betas), the only downside is that he does not specify which software is which, you have to know the baseband versions you are installing.

I've been trying to downgrade from the latest pie release but I always get the same error due to how Samsung has blocked bootloader downgrades. Is there anyway around this or am I stuck on Pie?

You are probably stucked because you upgraded to the latest bootloader:
After updating bootloader to U5/S5 (as in case of G95xFXXU5DSFB) it will not be possible to downgrade it again to any U2/S2/U3/S3/U4/S4 version

Here's a workaround:
Backup your present baseband on TWRP, flash ALEXNDR Oreo's ROM then restore your baseband, otherwise you won't have mobile signal and your IMEI will be unknown.
So in theory the only way to downgrade to Oreo or less, is having the bootloader unlocked with TWRP right? if not, you're stuck
No Bootloader downgrade. Not possible.

I can't speak for the OP but for me it is more battery friendly, has better perfomance, allow me to debloat more apps than PIE and has better mod/theme support and looks better (didn't like Pie UI).

Quick question for you @nemesisexsp as you seem to know what you're talking about.
I'm in the same boat as OP. attached is my SOFTWARE INFORMATION section with my baseband and whatever. Slightly different to what you've posted on your screenshot.
Can you suggest which files I should use from the ALEXANDR Oreo Mod selection? also, just the ROM, or do i need to do something with the BL files also?
I'm rooted (with TWRP), so that shouldn't be any issue.

I suggest you flash the last Oreo ROM available for the S8 model (SM-G950F/FD). After you flash it you can boot normally in the ROM and see if your mobile signal is fine, if it isn't just restore your PIE baseband on TWRP.
Here's the original post in _alexndr thread where you can find the ROM link:

-could you install other custom roms that are Oreo-based?
-What makes Alexndr's rom special?
-Is it technically possible to install stock oreo?

I think you can install other ROMs. I just suggested _alexndr because it's as close to stock as possible as the OP was trying to flash via Odin. But i believe that we can't install older firmware via Odin due to the updated bootloader.

Because Pie is absolute trash on the S8 Active. Battery life went way down hill, constantly stutters like the CPU is loaded or it is thermal throttling, notification screen blanks preventing you from see any in the bar. Tapping notification doesn't always open. They ruined the camera UI. Control via bluetooth doesn't work anymore(forget the name but used to when I started my car it would automatically open Pandora and play. Instead now I have to unlock the phone and open Pandora manually".
I only wouldn't be surprised if it come out later that Samsung pulled and able and deliberately crippled devices to encourage upgrades. Joke's on them because my upgrade will be a different brand.

We still don't have the "reserve" partition though. OnePlus fonts will be missing and show up as italic fonts. A few apps are also gone but can be installed from play store. You wont pass Safety net so you will miss out on Netflix, etc.

So I'm on Android 10 Stable with bootloader unlocked. What happens if I relock bootloader? Will I go into bootloop on restart, and will it get rid of the warning on restart, or do I need to do what @bigmikey307 did?

So like @Scott Mentioned, it requires root to pass at the moment. The Magisk mod is called Magiskhide props config and it works perfectly well as a workaround. Good luck!

I'm probably overlooking something obvious but I have no idea what it is.
Here's the story; I have a T-Mobile OP6t converted to International.
Flashed the update to OB31 (Open Beta 2).
I have Magisk and Titanium Backup installed, both with root access allowed.
However, I'm unable to get TB to actually uninstall some of the system apps I don't want.
Also, I can't copy and paste (via Solid Explorer) my edited HOSTS file to block ads.

The OP Weather app for instance, the OP square and round icon packs, e few more that I dont recall. All of them could be downloaded from the play store. You only need the font fox magisk module referenced earlier in this thread. You wont notice these missing apps on a dirty install but you will see it on a clean install or factory reset.
Reinstalling the ROM ZIP via in-built updater fixes the issue. Done it multiple times.
