As you may know, even if it's rare some Tab 2 devices just won't accept Android 7. When you install any ROM that is based on Nougat device will just refuse to work properly. It will lag so bad you won't be able to do anything and forcefully return to Marshmallow.
I'm happy to announce that I found issue: Busybox. Yes, it appears Busybox somehow messes the Android 7. I've also found it messes with Android 6. So, I decided to test all latest 7.1.2 custom ROM's made by Andi.
LineageOS 14.1: Latest 2020 build with OC kernel, lagged after Busybox install.
Unlegacy project 7.1.2: Same as above, however system lagged after boot so I can't test it
Omnirom 7.1.2: Worked like charm until I decided to update it's busybox.
So, I decided to stick on Omnirom 6.0.1 and used it's native busybox instead of updating it. The problems I suffered while I used LineageOS 13.1 is gone. My wifi works properly and no constant app crashes.
I have no idea why Busybox would mess system up, but something between 1.22.1 (the version Omnirom comes with) and 1.30.1 (current Busybox version on Busybox Pro) is definitely not compatible with Andi's ROMs

OK, so I have installed AOSP Lollipop from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-aosp-build-t2929544
I was wondering if anyone is currently working on a custom build without so much Google inside. I would normally use CyanogenMod but they still don't have even a nightly build of Lollipop that I can find so I am limited to AOSP at the moment. I did try SimpleAOSP but that was from one extreme to another - I wasn't able to install any apps at all due to issues with libs.
It would be nice to have a ROM like SimpleAOSP but with F-Droid installed so we can install other apps without having to flash the GApps zip.
This ROM is updated When there are bugs and new features.
Yet another custom rom with the latest Android Operating System Lollipop 5.1.1 It
is unnoffcial but it comprises the latest updates of Lollipop and CM 12.1. The custom rom is still under beta phase testing and there might be lots of bugs and instability. We would advice you to flash this custom rom if you’re not using as the primary device. You
can test the features of CM12.1 on your iRULU V3 but there might be errors or performance issues. The iRULU V3 CM 12.1 ROM is only 431 MB and it needs to be installed on a Lollipop based rom already with the TWRP custom recovery.
DISCLAIMER : Rooting or flashing custom roms results breaking the warranty of the device. Techolaty and its authors are not responsible for any damage which is incurred in the process of flashing custom roms or rooting the device. We highly advice to take a backup of your device prior to performing the process.

Moved to CM I could not resist trying it.
I wasn't able to use your recovery however I used TWRP 2.8.6.0.
My Windows machine wich I haven't used for two months wouldn't let my ADB work correctly.
My main PC is a Chromebox now .
still setting my phone up and I'll let you know my results tomorrow.
Thanks.

Hi, as a work around for music playing at higher speed thru bluetooth you can setup and use a app from the google play store called btmono premium, it works.....use widget.....

unfortunately not, and i don't know why. i mean, the device has a snapdragon 410 which is developer-friendly so this isn't a problem, maybe it is because of the lack of developers using this tablet.
Is it possible to port other Galaxy Tab A variant custom rom to SM-T550?
Lol i need the kernel so i can try ubuntu touch on 550
UPDATE on Lineage OS for SM-T550
I found a custom rom for the sm-t550 running Lineage OS with Nougat 7.1.2. I installed it on my tablet and it ran pretty smoothly. I had an issue with google play services crashing though. Here's the process of how I did it.
First I downloaded the zip file by visiting Android Biits website and enter SM-T550 in the search. Should be the first link
Then I copied the zip file to the sd card of my sm-t550
Boot to recovery and do a backup (strongly advise)
Now do a factory reset/wipe data
Install the zip from sd card
Install Gapps for Nougat 7.1.2
Reboot the device and proceed with the setup and enjoy!
If anyone can solve the google play services crashing please let me know because I like this rom and would like keep it.
SM-T550 with Lineage OS 14.1
I have this ROM installed, but there's no audio through the devices speakers. The Play Store doesn't crash for me. I flashed open Gapps pico version. And I have Magisk running with Xposed framework installed. I have to use bluetooth headphones for sound though. I don't really mind having no sound, but if there's a fix, that would be ideal. This is by far the best ROM I have installed on this device thus far. Completely debloated and runs smoothly. I left a message on androidbiits about the sound issue. Hopefully deadman from github that created the ROM can do an update.
Just to inform all that I have tried unofficial Xposed on Stock 7.1.1 and Lineage 14.1 and found working fine on our devices.
Just download and flash the unofficial Xposed from link http://main.purifyos.it/xposed/classic/SDK25/
and install the apk in attachment.
Try it at your own risk. Back up your data first.

Any stability issues ? Do you think there will be battery drain ?
Thanks
Very stable, no reboots etc. Some modules have compatability issues but they simply don't work and doesn't cause any other problem.
Not sure about battery yet. It's too soon to comment.
Please be aware the Nougut port is very WIP. Some modules will not work, some will cause problem and this is due to WIP - so it have to be fixed on xposed side, not on modules side. List of working/not working modules here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-list-modules-nougat-xposed-t3639615
And stock?
Tested on stock FR Android 7.1.1 with stock kernel + TWRP 3.00 + Root
All looks great
I didn't need to set linux permissive...
can i have your list of modules
Official xposed is available now. Don't install unofficial one.
Does it work in fw 32.4.A.154, Pro??
Sent from my E6553 using Tapatalk

Hello folks,
Since most roms come with Gapps separately, I have a problem trying to use the Dual Boot Patcher, because when use it, can´t install roms on tradictional way, no boots, so have to decide between a rom with included Gapps (have just found two 9 pie that works), or without Gapps.
I´m trying to get a Rom 8.1 android version or earlier because I feel the Pie feels more heavy to run app I need, while 8.1 seems smooth. But I should like to get it with gapps to avoid being restarting the phone all the time. So,
Anyone know a rom for I9505 android 8.1 version or earlier with included Gapps? or
does anyone have experience with the dual boot patcher app installed a Rom+gapps? If I do (even patching all ok) if install Gaps doesnt boot, so I guess may there is a folder name difference or something I´m missing..
thank you in advance.
Why do you need the dual boot patcher thingy?
Much simpler and safer to TWRP and single ROM install.
No problem installing GAPPS, no stability issues with phone restarts. Too easy.
One solution is to go down to the kitchen section of the forum and learn how to slipstream the gaps into the rom.
Hi, have you tried LOS 17.1 by JDC team ? It is awesome and Dark mode brings so much battery life.
