Update notification? - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Did anyone else get an update notification that failed? Oxygen 11.0.1.1? Not on oxygen updater
Sent from my IN2025 using Tapatalk

Yes just checked and it's there.
Sent from my IN2020 using Tapatalk

Yup got it earlier today. It's weird cause it looked different than normal update app, and I'm on OB3 so I shouldn't get notif from stable channel. Tried to download it anyway to upload later and share on forums, but fails every time so I gave up.

Same. I try to install and it says failed.

I installed it. No problems so far.

cant see anything for eu, is that global one?

Not present on the UK/EU variant by OOS or OU.
Soon as it is I'll update my update thread.

It self installed on my OB3, and after reboot, that was inevitable, it wiped my phone
what the actual f....k
It's almost midnight here, and I'm just trying to figure out how to restore and setup my phone.

Hi after updating to 11.0.1.1. the volte icon on the status bar is missing
Did it happened to anyone? How did you fix it?

Just popped up on oxygen updater

Updated and got wiped. Noice.

Did you update from Beta or Stable?
I just got the notification this morning, but I don't want to risk wiping my handset or losing root. (I'm on Stable, rooted with Magisk. I'm new to OnePlus so am cautious about how I update...)

I was on OB3 (Beta). Looks like now I am on stable again.

Yeah, I got the update notification as well. I woke up in the morning, and it was already installed, couldn't do nothing. After restart, my device was wiped. I installed Magisk before restarting, didn't do anything.
My current firmware is 11.0.1.1.IN11AA. Is that Open Beta 3 or the stable 11?

Also updated to 11.0.1.1.IN11BA and the Oneplus Launcher, navigation gestures and the notification bar doesn't work...
Well done OnePlus :/

Very glad I didn't switch to beta. I need everything to work on my phone every day for work and restoring exchange email etc isn't a quick easy task, which is why I didn't go with beta even though people were reporting better luck with ob3 than the last stable.
That's a pretty bad screw up on OnePlus this time.
On the upside, no issues so far with the update on mine.

OnePlus have halted the roll-out until they have resolved the issue with forcing the update (and wipe!) to those on Beta.
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-11-0-1-1-for-the-oneplus-8-and-oneplus-8-pro.1340016/ (see the second post in the thread).

accurate timing... ?

OMG
...you can't make this sh.. up
After my phone self updated and wiped lat evening; I downgraded to OOS 10, then updated to OB3 again, with full wipe; turned off Auto-download on wifi in settings. Thought that would fix any future updates...
HA! I just woke up to the same update notification. Saying phone updated please reboot. It's has now self updated and wiped itself again
FML and F.. OnePlus engineers responsible for this

Wow, this is one crazy roll out update!

hold my beer...
after my phone just wiped itself again, I was about to do the same thing from last night, when I downgraded to OOS 10 then updated to OB3 again
but now I'm looking at the About section of the phone and it still says OB3
Naturally, what did it it exactly download to update to wipe itself, if I'm still on OB3 right now
What did OnePlus push this morning..
And why was the not to auto-update flag ignored...

Kind of on System OS update loop.

So I am enrolled in android beta program. I was running latest version of 7.1.2 beta. I turned on phone today and had notification that the 7.1.2 N2G47H stable version was available, so I downloaded and installed. Once it installed and rebooted I received notification that 7.1.2 beta version NPG47I is available for download. Downloaded and installed and when rebooted, it told me that 7.1.2 N2G47H is available for download. This update loop is continuous, if I download one then I am notified the other is available, over and over again. Please help. What do I do? Should I just download beta NPG47I and ignore N2G47H stable update, since it looks like beta version is newer release? Unfortunately either way I am still going to have persistent notification of an update available.

Unenroll from the beta program.
If I unenroll from beta program , it will completely wipe my phone right?
Got this issue as well, surely it should remain on the stable till the next beta, possibly O and not notify about an old beta. Never happened before. Unenrolling from the beta means a factory reset? Must be a universal problem.

I came on here to find out if it was just me having this issue! I've done the pair 3 times now just in case, so now I've installed the massive update, then the smaller one and am just going to leave it and ignore the update available notification!
Not quite up for a factory reset, they'll notice soon enough and sort it out!

I've pushed so many buttons since starting I had to think, and your right, the small update came first (25mb) then the large (1.3gb) one...
It's currently asking me to install the large one (NGP47I) again. Might let it do that, then at least it's had the pair and Google can kill the request when they wake up to hopefully lots of notifications and bug reports about it in the morning!
Although I'm not sure what overwrites what... I presume the NGP47I is the big update, then the small one is just a mop up?
Currently looking in the custom rom section though, that always leads to me wanting to customise it and leave the stock ecosystem...
Same issue there. I may unenroll anyway, since my phone has been laggy as hell recently.

NPG47I is beta 2 and N2G47H is stable. There is not a newer beta, just the timestamp. Un-enrolling from the beta program will not wipe your phone. They will "eventually" send down an downgrade 7.1.1 OTA that you can flash if you decide to... or not. Nothing happens to wipe your phone in the background unless you decide to flash the downgrade OTA. If you are unlocked just flash the full stable image from Google. If you do this, you will not get any more notifications. If you are not unlocked and doomed to only OTA's, then unenroll and leave it on N2G47H until the May security update in 2.5 weeks. You can also try turning off "Automatic system updates" in dev settings but some ppl report mixed results.
So I installed stable version of 7.1.2 and unenrolled my phone from the beta program. Shut down and restarted phone and now all is right in the world. No more loop or persistent notification, and nothing got wiped. Sucks not being in the beta but I guess I can wait until the next beta release and re-enroll myself.
Left it on the stable 7.1.2, persistent notification present, disappeared today and all is good, still enrolled.

Oreo OTA Now you see it, now you don't

Very strange. I'm on DP4. About 10 minutes ago I checked for an OTA to the new official 8.0 build and hey presto, up came the Android Oreo update available message. When I hit download and install, I got an error message and now the update is no longer available. Just says I have the latest version. Anyone else experience this?
I joined the beta program today. My version is 8.0.0. Is that beta or final?

Mine is stuck like this, lol. I have a great WiFi signal and everything. Not sure what's up.
I have this and amazing Internet speeds.
Exact same issue here
Wonder if it's those that are on DP that are effected, anyone confirm they flashed OTA successfully via DP or N?
It has been removed and is supposed to be online again, that says Google. Waiting and relaxing
I'm now on the latest version according to the updates section. Meh, I'll factory install it in the morning.
According to other threads, they had problems with signature of the update packages being incorrect. They stopped otas, and are dropping them again, I believe.
Just a second ago the OTA was available again. Tried to download it and got the same error message as the first time around. Once again it has been replaced by your system is up to date. Some crazy weirdness definitely going on here. I think I'll try again tomorrow.

Ah, that would explain things.
I started a help session, and they said I needed to be unrooted for the OTA to be able to do anything. I'm going to try unrooting, but tbh I'll probably just end up flashing from the factory image.

That would be pretty obvious, you can't get system updates if you're rooted on literally any device.

I knew it wouldn't install, but it usually downloads it so that I can use Flashfire. This time around it seems that it won't even do that.
I have got 2 OTA URLs for build OPR6.170623.011/8.0.0 from my Australian Telstra carrier Pixel XL registered in Beta Program.

[update] l04c567b388

Looks to be a minor update, but at least they're still thinking about us
States EMUI version 5.0.1
Android version 7.0
Android security patch level August 5, 2017
So far, the main change I have noticed is the addition of a "Moving Picture" mode to the camera app, which is similar to the Live Photos you would find on iOS.
Also, it seems they have added an automatic video creation "Highlights" feature to the Gallery app, utilizing Quik video editor. Not sure if this was already included in previous versions.

Got this update notification on my FRD-L14 2 days ago and for some reason it keeps failing to install with error "failed to verify update package" i was initially rooted and had Magisk 14.0 installed. But i've reverted to stock recovery and boot image which i flashed using fastboot commands.. Can anyone help with the above or better still piont me in the thread on how to create a TWRP package so i can flash it.
I've even gone as far as flashing system.img from my backup B385 UPDATE.APP but still no luck.
I am using a FRD-L14 and currently on stock EMUI 7.0.
Thanks

U have stock recovery and boot right? Flash the recovery and boot image of B385 and then from recovery factory reset ur phone. After that try and see if u can update ur device. Also if u wish to lock ur bootloader then hit download latest full package.

Well I got the phone about a week ago and just activated my new tmo sim card last night to get cell service on it so I'm probably not the best judge of whether any performance changes occurred. Based on the change log I wasn't expecting much though.
FYI I'm still completely stock, locked bootloader for now if that made any difference in the delivery of the update.

Thanks for the explanation. This is the route I had to take. I have FRD-L04. I was on B385 with TWRP and Magisk 14.0. Unrooting and flashing boot.img and recovery.img from 385 did not help to install the new update. I keep getting the same error of Package failed. No matter what I seemed to try nothing worked.
So, this sucks, but, I factory reset. Then RE-locked bootloader. Then, I had to download *latest full package* otherwise I still received same error. But, now I am on B388 and i'm going to try flashing TWRP and installing Magisk now.
Live photos seems interesting. Pretty excited about that.
Question to anyone who got the update, any changes in battery life?

How to get back the oreo update?

I have received the OTA update for Oreo. But decided not to update right away because i know there's some bug/issue about the oreo. And today i decided to update my phone, but i cant find the update anymore. I tried to check the system update but it says that im on the latest update.
I tried to clear data of the google services framework, and restart the phone. Still nothing. I also tried to spoof my location to U.S. still nothing. I also tried to use VPN (HMA VPN). But still nothing. Can anyone help me? I want to update to oreo withouth factory resetting my phone. Thanks!

Clearing google framework is not good idea. Anyway, there is no other then to wait till it pops up again, it seems that Xiaomi has suspended the update.

I got my phone on 7th January and got the December security patch on 1st startup, but I am not getting the oreo update.
I tried all the methods mentioned in the forum to get the update but I did not get the update after that I did a bit of digging and found out from some members of mi forum that the update has been temporarily suspended but the reason is still unknown. It is assumed that some people are facing some bugs after the oreo update and after a factory reset the fingerprint gesture is not working.
Many people who have not yet updated or have recently got the phone have to wait until the roll out is resumed by Xiaomi.

Yes, i did some research too. I think Xiaomi stop or suspending the update. I think its because of the bugs reported and they want to make it more stable in the next update. I just hope that i receive the next update without a problem. I was too excited on oreo update because of Arnova's pixel 2 camera ported.
I have also tried but don't get link from 24hr for update

The ported pixel 2 camera would not work as a1 does not have camera2api support.
You will have to root your device to get camera2api support.

Hi,
before upgrading to January Oreo patch i was rooted with magisk, when i recived the notification of the update, disabled all the modules and restored the stock boot.img, then i installed magisk on the second slot for rooting the update and i rebooted.
When the device started i realized the is was with oreo december patch
Since then i can't no more receive any update through Ota.
I flashed the first nougat build in a desperate attempt of fixing my device but even with that i solved nothing, currently i'm on 7.8.23 build and it can't find any update.
I've checked my imei is it was in any blacklist but nothing, it's clean.
I've serched everywhere but i haven't found nobody with my same or similar problem.
Please don't answere with something like try to clean google framework data or do a factory reset.
Currently I'm desperate my only hope resides in this community.
thanks so much for any help!

Either wait for the update, because there are yet many people that haven't received yet, or wait for Xiaomi to release latest fastboot rom and flash it with Mi Flash.
The issue isn't the fact that i haven't received the latest January update, i can't receive any ota, as said, even from the first build it don't find anything.
I now, i can flash through fastboot or MiFlashTool but I'm trying to fixing my issue not pretending to forgot it.

he just told you to wait - oh wait can you still see your imei? in case the number is gone than you have a bigger problem.....
Dont panic, there nothing wrong with your phone, the only thing that wrong is Xiaomi and their updates. Just wait for the next update.

The truth is, that Xiaomi temporally suspended all updates due to amount of bugs. Also try restore your phone with Mi Flash and latest firmware version ( Android O) from http://en.miui.com But as I said it is Xiaomi's fault.
Thanks so much for the help,
Yes my imei still there, i know the issue with ota that xiaomi had but i guess that at least i should be able of seeing something, i can understand not receiving the latest update but i don't get anything at all.
I hope there isn't nothing wrong with my phone or at least something i can fix.
Again, thanks for the support to everyone

Ok, i was sure about the latest update but i wasn't thinking something of this scale, can someone with my issue can confirm that now is impossible to receive any ota?
Bored by waiting 2 days ago I got my OTA clearing google framework data and reboot. After that OTA was here.

Kind of... I still didn't got the January update either. I just read some articles about it being resumed again. But I didn't get any update. I can see my IMEI number and flashed Oreo thru MiFlash (cuz I didn't get Oreo OTA) and yet no update whatsoever. Hope I'll get it soon?

It's seems to be pretty similar even if i received oreo through ota.
Funny fact, before uninstalling magisk and all the modules i was downloading the jenuary update, obviously i got an installation error, since than I'm fallen into a word without ota

Trust me that I feel your pain? Since I was playing around with flashing beta versions of Oreo and hard-bricked my phone twice. After second restoration of the OS no OTAs. So I thought it is because of false OS they put on it. So I flashed official Oreo through MiFlash but nothing yet so far. Meybe you or me can ask Xiaomi what to do or what is happening.

I'm not sure if is a problem of xiaomi or our, still the fact that xiaomi is acting like a ****: from kernel source to buggy update and then this, so far is really bad

Ops! Sorry.
But to be ontopic I have another 2 A1's (yeah, I bought 3 of them) in family and both are on Oreo December update. No OTA for them until now.
Dunno if it helps but that's all I have. Mine forced 2 days ago from Nougat to Oreo 1 jan and my wife's and daughter stuck on Oreo december.

Sure is. It shouldn't be called Android One phone. The phone itself is great but software wise it is horrible. We are still not fully on 8.0 but there's 8.1.1 so Xiaomi should finally do something!
