Hi,
I've got a 6T using H2o, is there a way to have Google voice install and use with Google assistant?
The " OK Google" function doesn't work, no matter that language I set it, still showing not available, can someone please point me a right way to get it work?
Thanks!

Isn't the H2O missing the "google stuff" so I would imagine the you either have to download alot of stuff, or flash one of the open gapps....

I've already downloaded Google voice and installed, I can use the Google voice to search stuff, just can't use "OK Google " this function to get the phone respond to my voice command that's all.

Dont know if anyone realised it but there is a new version of google maps with VOICE SEARCH just go to android market and search for GOOGLE MAPS should be the first app. Also if you have a uk magic with no voice dialing as standard just download the google search by voice app in the market and your all set it also seems to be a lot faster
http://phandroid.com/2009/06/15/updated-google-maps-for-android/
Thanks for that it works like a charm

Download the "google search by voice app" in the market, then watch the video link in my first post to activate
The new update doesn't have Street View. Are they discontinuing the project?
it has streetview im using it now!!
You are right, but it is not an option in the map modes like it was before. You have to long press the map on the location, then a window pops up and there you select street view. Don't really care about that since I am in Canada and there are no street views here yet, at least that is what I think. As for the voice recognition/search function, I do not have that option in the search function. Looked all over the place for it but still can't find it. There is suppose to be a mic beside the google search bar in the Search option. Not there on Rogers Canada network. Hopefully they will fix that soon.

can't find this app, when i search for it, only one app appears and it is google maps which is already installed...
still no voice search for me.
strange.
The Roger HTC Magic (I have one) doesn't appear to have libspeech.so installed - I think that is the missing piece. I am not sure why we don't see the google search by voice app that the others are speaking about.
I'm confused why the voice dialer works - I guess that doesn't use libspeech.so?

When you are in Google Maps, do Menu > Search then select the microphone, which will let you do voice search.

It's close to the same hardware - different frequencies or something for the different carriers. The other difference is each carrier can customize the Android OS they release. Rogers in Canada, for example, released their Android phones with MS Exchange support. But they obviously left some other things out. That's why I want to root my phone so I can put whatever software I want on there.

That's the issue - there's no such button. Missing libspeech.so is the culprit here I believe. And while I have the file from other sources, I don't have root access to the phone, so I can't install it to the lib folder to make it work.
What a pain.. when I try to update mine, I get the message:
"Installation Error: Package file was not signed correctly."
Any suggestions?
I installed the new version of maps but I can't find the voice search option, it's just not there (same as previously reported) i'm on vodafone australia.
Any idea how we can get the voice working?
Well I upgraded the Maps app and have the voice search. It's rubbish! I've tried speeking as clearly as possible but it's all over the place. Searching Edinburgh comes back as Dayton, Ohio, USA everytime Typing is much quicker anyway.
New update of Google Map has been released, v3.1.1
I've updated and retried, it's still rubbish.
Ya not sure what v3.1.1 fixes, there is still no voice search here in Canada yet.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667387
Not available in Canada currently because it only supports English.
found how to get it.. just do a seach on google for "com.google.android.voicesearch.apk" and download and install and it works.. copy it to your SD card to install it.
nevermind it just crashes out. worked on my x10 tho
here this version works
hmm... if you are talking about the Bell version it comes in the stock ROM
it's labelled as "Voice Dialler"
but it is not only voice dialing, when you speak to it, it comes back with search results for both software and contacts, if you execute either one, it launches the app, or it dials the contact

Earlier today I change the sell code to english and ta-daaa: voice search appeared. I'm actually looking for a way to get rid of it right now
You lose all your data though. So if you're gonna try it, go ahead and back up. I use Titanium back up (I don't love it, though: you have to stay by the phone waiting to give the green like* everytime an app is being re-installed).
EDIT: *light
sell code?...
Hmmm, maybe that's not its name. Anyway: *#272*HHMM# change HHMM for your local time, so if it's 12:30 it should look like: *#272*1230#.
Once there, check the codes http: //samsung-firmware . webs . com / samsunglettercode . htm (remove blanks) and apply the english one.
i get only this page when i google sell code samsung... so i'm not sure if such a thing exist.
anyway the 272 trick doesn't work on my i9000.

Thanks,
Market didn't have "google commands" but it had "voice commands". Voice commands was listed as free but when i clicked on the link it said "not found"
I tried both appbrain and android market.
Anyone have the apk for voice command or google command?
I'm not exactly sure why voice input was removed, probably a combination of the fact that it doesn't support french and also that Samsung stripped out the default android keyboard (which has the microphone button) and replaced it with 2 far superior keyboards: their own, and swype. I guess that's the one downside of swype is you don't get the voice input button.
However Samsung did include Vlingo for free (I'm aware that Vlingo has since become free for all phones since the updated google voice commands were announced for froyo). Vlingo is actually far better than the google voice input (at least for 1.5-2.1) as it gives you commands as well as the text entry. You can also setup the Vlingo keyboard which is essentially the stock Android 2.1 keyboard including the mic button.
From what I can tell it detects words just as well as the google service. Vlingo lets you put widgets of any size (1x1 to full screen) so this kinda makes up for the missing mic button on the google search widget.
I would imagine when the 2.2 update comes out we will have the google function back with multi language support and commands!
well Nirvana388 beat me to it, i was going to recommend Vlingo as well

Ravi84m suggested "google commands" because it doesn't require internet??

Sent from my ZTE A2017G using Tapatalk
Enter beta Verdion from Google app and Google play services, wait a while and update these apps than change your System language to english us and go to homescreen, you normally should have the assistant now, change language back
Even easier, just change the language to English US and reboot

Google had announced this in march it was to be activated first in the US and then followed by the UK and several other countries.
Maybe it'll be 2018 for us.

It doesn't work on the Chinese A2017. Assistant is installed in the Google app but it's still Google home when the ask Google. I think it's because the home button (my voice) only operates when the system language is Chinese. Unless someone writes a piece of code to fix this then it looks like I'm stuffed.
I know the full bixby features aren't available for use yet, but are any of you using it more than Google assistant? Why or why not?
neither. what do you even use these for?
Google assistant is so much more interesting and useful than Bixby !
There is no voice command for bixby yet. And anyway, even when Bixby will get these voice commands, there is no chance that it will be better than Google Assistant.
I disabled almost every Bixby services, I remaped the bixby button to the Google App (I use home button to get the google assistant).
I found use for scanning QR codes with Bixby Vision and that's about it. I want to disable everything related to bixby and remap the button to Google now/Assistant but I don't want to disable and realtime day to day use of the phone. Also, I'm on a non rooted tmobile s8 and doubt it's possible on stock.

Weird though. Mine works flawlessly. No problems. ?
I use google assistant to set alarms and turn off my lights at night. I disabled Bixby completely because when I remapped it it either accidentally launched what I mapped it to or it would still launch bixby. Now the button does nothing and i'm happy. If Samsung works around package disabler then I'll crazy glue the button in place. Lets see them patch that ****! ?

I am on a Galaxy S8 and Android 7.0.
Following this guidance, http://lifehacker.com/how-to-create-custom-voice-commands-with-tasker-and-aut-1282209195, I installed Tasker and AutoVoice. Google app already installed. I enabled Autovoice accessibility service and AutoVoice Google Now integration.
OK Google is enabled on all screens.
However, when I say "OK Google, use Autovoice" Google consistantly comes back with "It looks like your AutoVoice account is not linked yet." How do I do this?
When I run AutoVoice Testing with my trigger words, they work. I have another 6.0 Android device where all this (Tasker, Autovoice, Google Now) works seamlessly.
Is there some other step required for S8 / Android 7.0 go get AutoVoice integrated with Google Now?

I'm having fun, and pulling my hair out, just trying to get this going right now. At least twice this week I was in my car (head unit not installed yet) and really wanted to send time sensitive messages on my s8 using Google Voice. I don't text and drive, religiously. But being able to say "google voice text so-and-so" would have been quite useful.
One last, final question: I've been learning tasker/autovoice on a rooted px5. Just got this galaxy s8 and, of course, it's not rooted. Looks like I shell commands a lot in my profiles, particularly "input keyword" and "input text".
So, if I want to send %avcommnofilter as response to app, do you recommend autoinput for that?

FINALLY! This is how you link AutoVoice (or any 3rd party app) to Google Assistant: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/websearch/HwJUpkrHPr4/xIJACIlEAwAJ
So, you have to say "OK, Google, ask Autovoice to...." followed by your AutoVoice command. Still wish I could just say "OK, Google" then command, but this will do for now.
