Found 2 IMEI on 986U1 - Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Guides, News, & Discu

Got 986U1 with only 1 IMEI. Upgrade to ZTK1 with T-mobile. I was playing around with service menu, then found 2 IMEIs.
Could anyone else with firmware other than ZTK1 confirm this?

@mellojosh this is in alignment with your discovery and observations so you might want to see this.
Eric where did you find those can you tell us the options you went to.

I found this also, but this is also printed on my phone and box. What we really need is to change a flag in the system to change the euicc type from 0 to 1

Even if you were rooted, my best guess is samsung would still need to enable esim in the north American firmware for it to work. Now if changing the CSC features xml triggers a change in the euicc type in the system, that's a different story. But I think all that would really do is give the sim management menu in the settings menu, which you can already get to with activity launcher.

I can confirm too that my box came with only one IMEI which means that Samsung might be preparing for pushing the E-sim capability.

We can only hope. But I never much doubt they'll enable esim on USA models anytime soon, if at all.

Every U/U1 North American unit has 2 IMEI numbers... the ESIM portion is disabled... for now.
Why? No clue as every major carrier supports them.

They don't like consumers having options and choices in america.
Crippled dual sim , and carrier locking of devices all points to this.

This is where I have to give Apple some credit with the iPhone.
They decided when to turn on eSIM features. Basically telling carriers to go pound sand.
I have an unlocked Xs and the eSIM feature is fantastic. I kept the primary line on the eSIM and used the physical SIM for when I was in an area with poor coverage.
If my coverage sucked, I would grab a local prepaid SIM, forward all my calls from my main line to the prepaid number and all was good.

Well I've changed the csc to true, installed the manager for eSim under priv-apps, and added a build.prop which enabled the sim manager. Once I go into the manager, I get an error: "Invalid eSim chipset. Do not use this device for eSim Test"
The esim IMEI is also UNKNOWN
The build.prop was persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds
The APK I added was EuiccService
Let me know if any one has anything else I can test. I really want to get this working if we can.

I've got someone else with root that was on the ZTK1 firmware to try it. With all the options that I have listed above it still has not changed. They are able to see 2 sims on the update, but can't do anything with it.
If there are more suggestions let me know.

[Q] Note 3 N9005 no LTE

HI
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this , i received my Galaxy Note 3 yesterday the n9005 model i moved from a HTC one the LTE 4G worked perfect on that phone no issues since getting the Note 3 the phone has only picked up 3G signal and when you go into network mode its only displaying GSM/WCDMA and no LTE there are no software upgrades available for it ? anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Not trying to be Cpt Obvious here but have you called your mobile company to give you some feedback? Note III is a new device maybe it needs an update from the provider?
Or did you try a hard reset just in case? I'd try to eliminate the software part so you can be sure it is a h/w issue..

Just to add to this, my N3 won't give LTE options at all when I use my 3 SIM, but does when I sap over to my Vodafone SIM which is on a 4G plan.
I'm pretty certain that it is just a setting on the SIM that toggles the LTE options.

Dave

Hey Everyone found a solution for this in another thread. I also was facing this issue no LTE Enabled as the option doesnt exist. I updated to latest firmware XXUBMJ1. Then used CFautoroot to root it coz it is possible only on rooted phones, if not you have to wait until Samsung pushes an OTA update to fix it. Here goes try and see if it works.
Use ES File explorer or your favorite root explorer and go to data/property and find the persist.radio.lteon.xml file. Open it in Text Editor and if the value that is written is false, change it to true. Save and exit and reboot. Got the options back. Done.
LTE needs to be enabled in an update.
On Unbranded, Samsung does this after signing the agreement with the local providers for the frequencies. If you have a branded version, incorporating the LTE setting lies with the provider. If you're unlucky, as most people with branded versions are, this could take quite a while. Some providers have been known to skip dozens of firmware versions as it is 'too much work to change a 200kb update'. Oh the woes of slapping your company sticker on everything...
My Unbranded German one has an LTE option, as Germany has had LTE since 2011. I'm using T-Mobile NL in the Netherlands, which does not have LTE yet.

There's a factory UICC unlock that comes on your Sprint/Boost factory firmware (Settings/System Updates). So you can UICC unlock for use outside the United States. You can also purchase a GSM unlocked variant from BestBuy if you plan on strictly using it outside the US.

The devs at idoneapps have yielded some seriously awesome results in the Samsung world, so I'm hopeful that the fruits of their labor will produce a dsufor the moto e 2105 as well. American and international.
They have different radio bands enabled, that should be the extent of differences.
Unless you mean on the device, then I assume the phone will be labeled in software, and probably have the SKU on the case somewhere.

It has most of the same bands but not all. You'd not have as good coverage using the international version for Project Fi in the US.
Also the versions abroad that have these bands are likely considerably more expensive than the US version. As an example, in the EU the 6P starts at at over $200 more for the base model.

International you gain Asian bands mostly 1 (is Europe to), 9 & 19 are Japan. You loose 30(AT&T future), 12 (hopefully will work with T-Mobile at launch lol), and 13 (Verizon?).
I hope they fix it in the def community like they did the nexus 6, almost all bands on both devices.

The U started with the S8 and S8+ models. In the future it's supposed to be an update that unlocks the phones. When you put your carrier SIM card in it would provision it to work with that network. When this is supposed to happen IDK I haven't seen a hard date yet. That's why no matter what carrier branded phone you have they all are the U models.

all the phones are the basically the same US models ATT, Verizon, tmobile, sprint, for the unlocked version u will not have wifi calling, and I think hotspot, to tired at the moment, video calling will not work...
but u can fix the wifi calling by putting the firmware from ur provider if u need those features.
that's what been happening with the s8 plus models.
Well then lets get this bounty started i got $30 on it

The "U" stands for unlocked. The unlocked version should work on all US carriers. As for using an AT&T sim you do loose wifi/ video calling, however the hotspot does work.

N950U is compatible with all carriers, just as G930U, G950U, etc. The just have different software.
I got 50 USD on it.
i pledge 50 plus my undying gratitude for full system root/BL unlock

Not getting LTE on T-Mobile

I purchased an unlocked S10+ from eBay (SM-G9750) that had an origin from Asia. It had the Snapdragon chipset so I thought it would be the same model, but I'm not getting 4G LTE on my phone. My carrier is T-Mobile.
After doing some research, I believe I don't have access to 2 networks bands (71 and another 16(?)). Is there anything I can do to, "fix" the phone so I can have LTE?
Try flashing the tmobile firmware.
Did you make sure the APN setting is set for tmobile?

Yea, double checked it after resetting the phone a couple times as well. Still no luck...

I have the same phone and I'm getting 4G connectivity on T mobile. I'm in NYC and I'm connecting to bands 4, 5 and 12 typically. My speeds are significantly lower than my S7 because carrier aggregation is not enabled.
Are you in a rural area? I've heard that T mobile uses the 600mhz band 71 (which this phone is missing) for rural LTE coverage.
Type *#2263# in your dialer to see was which.bands your phone supports, I think it support T-Mobile. Also try *#77467# to pull up IMS settings and enable what you can under IMS Service Switch.

Nope, not in a rural area. I'm in LA county.

I had tried that yesterday, but got a, "Connection problem or invalid MMI code." I tried 77467 and I got the same error also.
Is there a setting I don't have enabled or need to change so I can use those codes?

Unfortunately not.. The T-Mobile CSC firmware is only available for the US models (G975U and G975U1).
G9750 is intended for South America, China and Hong Kong.
Although you only miss support for B71, so in theory LTE should work just fine since the G9750 supports other T-Mobile bands like Bands 2, 4 and 12.
Do you have another T-Mobile phone to test with to see if you get LTE in your area?

A new feature with the S10+ is that all the US carriers' firmware is embedded and automatically loaded up depending on the carrier SIM card inserted. What's the story on the SIM card you are using? I just swapped in the one from my Galaxy S7 and everything but carrier aggregation worked right out of the box (including WIFI calling, VoLTE and Samsung Pay). I suspect you may be able to fix this if you get a properly provisioned SIM.

Those codes don't work on mine either. *#0011# will let you see what 4G towers you are connecting to (run speed test app while you are looking). Signal spy or LTE discovery app are helpful too.

I don't know, these codes were working fine for me. Try this, download the Google dialer apk (Google the Google dialer port) and then use the code *#*#4636*#*#. You'll have to set it up as your main dialer app and enable permissions. Then try to see if you can configure it like my phone.

I've actually been with T-Mobile for a very long time and this sim is the same one I used in my HTC-M8, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8 all of which had LTE, no problem.
I ran the Google speed test, and I'm consistently getting 10 - 15 MBPS. I'm not sure what it was before, but it's noticeably slower than my S8.
I will try getting the Google dialer and try a couple of the other codes mentioned. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far, everyone!
UPDATE:
Google Dialer didn't work either
Any update on this? I just bought a G975U1 unlocked, and my data seems to be very slow with exceptionally high latency. I was wondering if the problem was the lack of carrier aggregation, but that shouldn't cause high latency, should it? Any reason not to flash the carrier firmware? I'm a little confused on that, actually -- if the S10+ pre-loads the carrier firmware based on the sim, why wouldn't carrier aggregation be part of that?

I don't think the current "U" firmware brand switches and downloads the carrier firmwares.

I was unable to get my phone to work on bands 2 and 4. Anytime I connected to those two bands it never would work. Finally I had to send it in. It's a hardware problem (in my case)
