wtf lol why am i so slow. i have to get the s15 sim and see if that helps

I did install my R15 sim on 10/1. I must have been using the web browser for tests before that, as the speedtest app is showing earliest tests on 9/30 and 10/1. Those are my 4 fastest results and i've tested periodically throughout the month. At my residence right now I'm getting 42.5/7.29... it dipped hard at the beginning and stayed at 1-3 upload for most of the test but finished at the 7.29.
Edit: iirc, those two 4pm tests on 10/3 were while I was traveling at approx 30mph through the north part of down town seattle. the 118/60 was in the safeway parking in downtown burien.

at work i get up to 200 mbs at home wich is 4 blocks away i cam get up to 50 mbs a sec fastest i get was 225 mbs and I live in a small city of 23000 people in minnesota

If I'm outside one the 3rd floor of my open roof workplace, I get anywhere from 105-120. If I'm sitting on my couch at home in my apartment complex, I get 35-40. I have T-Mobile btw.

In Houston, TX

Couldn't believe this when I saw this ??? in Houston

Anyone getting 150mbps+ for download or 50mbps+ for upload is most likely getting mid-band 2500mhz 5G.

Speedtest results - 4g

I'm curious to see how fast the 4g networks across the country are.
There is a good Speedtest.net app in the marketplace that's free to use for this.
Please post your results along with your location so we can compare.
Speedtest results: 8461kbps down, 1080kbps up
Location: Bannockburn, IL
I wasn't expecting that high of download speeds! I had 2/3 bars of 4g.
edit: Just tested wifi tethering with these speeds, and i got 1.14mbps down, .96mbps up w/ 96ms ping.
This wasn't my fastest but it's apparently the only one I got a screenshot of. I was in Atlanta last weekend.
Also some of those tests were 3G to show my friends. The top one I know for sure is 4G.

New record! This was while I was outside.

The upload is obviously capped for 4G as well.
Yeah, I got max of 7.4 down today (same capped upload). I was in the car with my girlfriend driving up US1 between Oakland Park and Commercial in Ft. Lauderdale. So weird that the only place that has 4G there (goes a bit north of where I said) is just that small patch, maybe 2-3 towers max. I finally got a taste of 4G since I have none where I live and its very nice.

but we know 4g is capped to 1mb. thats a known issue and frankly not a big deal for me, my home dsl is like that as well. I'm in deerfield beach, maybe I'll drive down there this afternoon and test it out. supposedly according to 4g mapviewer there is 4g on 595 at the university drive exit. that is where I work but i tried it 3 days in a row and no 4g.
i just tried it on us1 on commercial blvd. some speeds in the 2mb and 3mb range and a number in the 5 and 6 mb range. highest I think was 6.4. I was disappointed I couldn't break 7, but still that was pretty good. 1meg upload cap as expected but thats sprint capping. I read they might uncap that eventually.

Yeah, I know of the 1mb upload cap... it can go much higher. I don't care too much. I don't like that the 3g speeds are capped. They are no where near what I get on my hero. It does everything faster, including loading pages on 3g so its not a biggie unless I want to download a file from dropbox.

Just picked up an epic today, while i like the phone, i gotta say im dissapointed in sprints 3g and 4g speeds.
Here in Kansas city on my epic i get an avg of 1mbs up on 3g and an avg of 3.5mbs on 4g.
On my HD2 running 2.2 And Nexus One i get an avg of 4.5mbs. Seen it as high as 5.5mbs on Tmobile.

and I get a 10mb test when wifi connected to my home 15mb connection. I'm jealous
In Houston I never get more than about 3.5 to 4 mbps download depending on where I'm at in the city. Clear/Sprint pegs uploads to around 1mbps so no one will get anything better than that.
The interesting thing I have noticed is that I can have fewer 4G bars and get faster download speeds than other times when I have more bars. This leads me to believe that experiencing slow downloads with a strong signal to indicate congestion on the Clear network tower? Anyone else notice similar behavior?

[Q] Hspa+ deployed?

My phone's speed through the speedtest.net app at my home got better yesterday. A LOT better. I'm now reliably getting 3.5Mbits minimum, and got over 5 (5.11 was highest) 3 times. The ping is also good, ~125ms. I can find no explanation for these great scores other than "4"g finally being deployed. Anyone else getting better results?
For the record, the best score I ever got at home before this was 2.2Mbits.
upload still sucks... 300Kbits
nothing has changed for me..still paltry download and embarrassing upload.

my area nw of detroit is hit or miss. sometimes i see 5mb speeds while other times i can barely break 400kb.
overall, my atrix works much better/fasterr than my att n1...
I was getting 2.5-3.0 Mbps when I got it and I live in a very small city. Just tested right now and got 3.5 Mbps and then 3.1 Mbps.
You can see the 4G coverage map at att.com/network
So far I see 4G released in greater Los Angeles, Bay area, "northern California" (Santa Rosa area), greater Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Buffalo, Providence (RI), Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Puerto Rico.
I'm about an hour and change away from boston, and I see decent speeds. Faster than my verizon phone.
I'll be in boston next weekend for pax east, I'm pretty excited to see what kind of speeds I'm going to get.
I've always gotten 3mbs down and 300kbs up.

For the record, I was in Santa Rosa, CA (one of their claimed rolled-out locations) for the past week. When downtown, I had great speeds. If you travel 1-2 miles away from downtown, coverage is hit or miss.
I was there for a week testing it and couldn't have been more frustrated. Constantly dropped calls because it kept switching between networks. I wanted a way to force it to stay on Edge while I was there so I could competently conduct business, but both AT&T and Motorola assured me that there was no way to force it to stay on Edge, as that feature was purposely disabled in the phone's settings.
My iPhone had that function and it came in handy when in bad areas. WTF?!
[edit]
Also, these speed tests in Vancouver, WA (Portland metro area) were tested now. Also, I spoke to 3 AT&T reps + 4 Motorola reps while I was in Santa Rosa, CA. As if it matters, but tracking the help from these companies is important at this stage I think
I noticed the same thing this morning. Im getting 4Mbps+ down, but still .3 up. Im just outside Chicago

Maybe this is a good sign of things to come?
I can confirm that at the moment I am getting 3.4Mbps and that with 4 bars not 5 but yeah the upload still sucks

I'm using the wireless tethering mod in the Dev section. The one where you need the SQLite editor and root explorer.
EDIT: I actually hit 4.06 down, and 0.95 up Haven't hit those speeds since then, but my downloads are looking far better (2 mbps+ down, a little more than .3 up) compared to when I got the phone. (Was lucky to hit 1.5 mbps down, and .2 up)

FWIW, I was sitting in Chicago's Midway airport yesterday (remember, Chicago is a "4G" city based on ATT's map). Well, I was consistently hitting 4.0 - 4.5 Mbps down and 300 kbps up while in Chicago on my Atrix. Latency was around 120 ms IIRC. This was very promising to see.
This morning, I'm back to ~2 Mbps down and ~150 kbps up in Denver (where "4G" is not deployed)

4g in Lincoln, Ne!

Picked up some 4g yesterday north of the university. It hits the wall at 2.2 mbps. Is this going to be lifted once it's official?

Check out clear.com/coverage for a map of what is on. According to another poster with inside info, all these random towers popping on are "Spectrum Holding" towers and may or may not be full powered.
According to clear.com Lincoln is "coming soon". I drove around a bit and I think there is more than one tower. Even when I get full bars it stalls out at 2.2 mbps.

its about freaking damn time, hello fellow lincolnite
I wonder if they will bump it up a bit. I am in Omaha and there are very few parts in the eastern part of the city that actually will hold a signal. But I went over to Council Bluffs and was getting speeds of 6-7 MB DL.
I'm also live in midtown Omaha. IV never connected to 4g anywhere in the city. Glad to hear someone has. Ill definitely drive over to counciltucky and check it out. Go Huskers!
I can connect downtown but i can only get 1 line of signal, even though the speeds are way faster than 3g. hope they up it soon to cover most of the city
Congrats. I'm in Louisville, KY, and just turned my 4G on this morning and got one speed test of 7700 kbps down / 1008 kbps up when I held the phone against the window of my office! Otherwise it's more like 3000 / 500. I'm about to take a walk for lunch and see what kind of speeds I can get in the open.
We have some big events coming up over the next few weeks (Kentucky Derby Festival), so maybe they're trying to get it rolled out for that. I can only hope!
I still can't get more than 2.2 mbps. If anyone in lincoln is able to go faster than that post it up.

We have the one tower here in town. I get about 7 megs down. But its only the one tower down my the Devany Center so don't expect the whole city to be covered since it seems that clear really isnt expanding as fast as we would like. I don't have it were i live but, I saw it on the clear map a couple of months ago and had to check it out.

Where outside of Philly? I'm in zipcode 19403 (Norristown) and have yet to see even 1MB down (there is no LTE here). I'm kind of bummed about it. In Paoli tonight I saw 1MB down. No LTE there, either.
I am about half an hour east of Dallas, TX

Up: 14065kbps (13.74Mbps)
Test 2:

Ping: 32ms
Down: 22.87Mbps
Up: 4.20Mbps
Shame I can't share my unlimited bandwidth from uverse with my cellphone...

AT&T has always had a subpar network in California, it's due to the fun little regulations over there. They do try to improve it, but as they free up more of their limited spectrum they do have available over there you will see better speeds.
