i'm on Stock Pie July 2020 update
and i just removed security lock and select swipe to unlock for taking TWRP Backup because after restoring TWRP backup pattern lock shows wrong pattern.
after taking backup i restart the phone and set pattern lock and add a fingerprint but when i put my finger on sensor it shows "Not Recognised" i tried 3-4 times also deleted "locksetting.db" from /data/system but nothing worked
is there any solution for it or just factory reset is the only option?
Reflash ROM through miflash tool. This might help
i flashed the full Stock Pie Firmware August 2020 but it didn't fix the problem. i can add fingerprints entries in Lockscreen settings but after that when i lock the phone with power key and try to unlock with fingerprint phone vibrates two times and shows not recognised.
I had the /firmware partition corrupted thanks to a TWRP blunder and it never recognised any fingerprints after that. I flashed this and it works again:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/themes/twrp-baseband-modem-april-stock-rom-t3777901/amp/
Not sure if it applies in your case though.
I had the same issue. After flashing persist.img from official fastboot Rom I was able to add fingerprints and they got recognized by the sensor.
I recommend to delete fingerprints and remove any Pic codes, patterns before flashing the .img file.
i'm using Lineage OS 17 now and Fingerprint works fine in LOS. the problem is just with stock rom.
i'm able to register fingerprints and swipe fingerprint sensor for notifications also works only unlocking not works always shows not recognised.
now i'm going to downgrade to Oreo then again upgrade to pie bcoz i got some touch problems after replacing touch screen maybe it also solve this issue

Encrypted 6P with Nougat here. A week after flashing the OTA, unlocking the phone with the initial pin code worked fine, but I started having problems unlocking the phone again by swiping. It just wouldn't be swiped out of the way. It became more and more difficult . Had to reboot all the time in order to get access to the phone, through the pin code unlock.
Initially reflashing the OTA and removing 'trusted locations' for smart unlock seemed to do the trick. 10 hours later the phone went into the same problematic lock screen mode again. This time without any trusted locations.
Installed an alternative lock screen to see if that would work. This required disabling the default lock screen...
After the next boot up, the phone says that the password was correct, but 'decryption was unsuccessful" and the data is corrupt. Will need to perform a factory reset.
Does anyone know a way to avoid resetting the phone? Flashing back to the latest Marshmallow did not help.
Thanks so much.
OK, for anyone else finding themselves in this situation: make sure you get your backups off the phone before it's too late.
After a factory reset to Nougat everything is fine, but all my stuff is gone.
Finger print option got disappeared, when I tap on Finger print option,it disappears. I tried clearing the Credentials but could not resolve my issue. Please help. It happened to me 2nd time, last time I had to reset my phone. Any solution other than reset?

Which ROM ?
If you are on stock COS ROM and COS/twrp recovery flash stock ROM via recovery
If on twrp recovery
1. Boot in twrp recovery
2. Take nandroid backup
3. Wipe Dlavik/Cache, System, data
4. Flash Cos stock ROM
5. Wipe dalvik/cache
6. Reboot after done
7. Check whether fingerprint option exist
8. If yes then Repeat step 1 & 3
9. From recovery (twrp) select restore
10. And then swip to restore
11. Reboot
Finger print option missing in security menu
Hi,
I installed TWRP and flashed official lineage os 7.1.2 and found that finger print menu was missing. I thought this could be a bug in the OS, hence I erased everything and installed RR rom, but to no avail. Finger print option still missing. I am still okay in not using finger print, still I am unable to fathom how 2 good custom Roms can fail to provide this option.
Any help in this matter will be really appreciated
Same Issue
Hi,
I aslo flashed LineageOS version 14.1 bases on Android 7.1.1 & the same problem is occuring.
There is no trace of fingerprint options anywhere in settings.
Even while startup, the device didn't took fingerprint lock entries.
I flashed this OS because....there were many bugs in Stock OS including fingerprint not working.
Please Help!
Hello guys !
I was rocking OOS 4.5.3 with TWRP and root all fine, and I tried some dualboot stuff that I saw here on XDA (plot twist, don't try it) and then I ran into issues
I managed to reinstall the rom fine, but at the reboot, my fingerprint sensor wasn't picking up my fingers
I found out that when I try to register a fingerprint, it works fine, untill the last step where it stop picking my finger (not even vibrates)
I also noticed that it's impossible to delete a stored fingerprint
Any ideas ?

On man I'm in totally the same situation with you! I tried that dualboot too and stuck in boot screen, so i flashed the original rom zip and managed to boot well but the fingerprint isn't working any more......:crying:waiting for solutions
Okay, now that I woke up I will try to do a data wipe, I'll tell you about it, please do tell me if you find something
I'm also unable to activate wifi
Sounds like a good question for the dual boot thread.
If I remember right from previous threads about dual boot on other devices is, you should delete your original fingerprint or set it up as no lock before doing all the stuff with dual boot. I might be wrong.

Well, can't see where it is listed in the instructions, but thankfully this issue is nothing a full wipe can't fix

It's not, it was just a user having that issue on a Nexus 6P. Reset should fix. Set it up without a lock on it, then you should be able to set up fingerprints for each rom.
Thinking about. It, that sounds like a lot of hassle if you just want to try out different roms quickly.

I did not do this dual boot but I ran into WiFi not activating (endless searching for a WiFi access point), but I was able to fix it. Your probably uninterested in how I got into the situation but I fixed it with a previous nandroid backup done with one of the earlier versions of TWRP. Here are the steps that recovered WiFi:
Using TWRP, advance wipe Dalvik & Cache
Restore from a nandroid backup (OOS v4.5.2 in this case) ONLY system & /System
Reboot into the system and ignore TWRP's no OS warning
Using TWRP, advance wipe Dalvik & Cache
Reboot back into TWRP recovery and flash the Full v4.5.5 OTA file (~1.6GB) AND flash root (e.g. SuperSU)
Clear Dalvik&Cache and reboot into the system
After I did that everything return back to normal including the WiFI issue. The fingerprint scanner is working normally and I never lost any data what so ever.
I got a notification for system update. When I rebooted, my tablet started up in TWRP. The update finished (I don't Know if it was successful or not). After I rebooted into system, my usual PIN is not working, do I can't get access. I'm away from home and away from my PC for a couple of weeks, so I'm limited in what I can do.
Does anybody know how to get a PIN to work? Looks like TWRP has been replaced with regular recovery on partition 1, but I have TWRP on partition 2 also. Is there a way to get into TWRP on partition 2 without a desktop PC?
I have the same problem, after the system update yesterday my old pin does not work anymore. What could I do?
So, before you updated, was your tablet rooted? Did the update use TWRP or the stock recovery? Did you have a pin set before the update?
before the update I use PIN and fingerprint reader, device was not rooted.
The update was offered by the device and ran normally.
Now my PIN does not work anymore. I do not have an "ok" button
when entering the PIN and I do not remember if there was one before?
My pin was reset after I updated, but I thought it was because I had replaced the stock recovery with TWRP. I've heard that there's a bug in TWRP that can mess up your pin. Now it looks like the pin problem is happening with stock updates, too. I'm surprised that other people haven't reported it.
If you had TWRP installed and you were able to boot into it, there's a way that you can use the TWRP file manager to delete the pin lock files. In your case, you will probably have to do what I ended up doing. I copied into Huawei eRecover and reset the tablet. That means it was wiped and I had to restore my apps and settings. You could try to get in touch with Huawei support first and see if they have a solution, since it appears that a stock update caused the problem. Please post back again if you find a solution.
My phone rebooted on me today while using the flashlight (something that occasionally happens from time to time), and now my fingerprint reader doesn't seem to work.
It says Fingerprint Hardware Not Available when I try to use it from the lock screen. The actual hardware itself is working, as I can still go into settings and try to set up a new fingerprint, it will vibrate and show that I touched the sensor as I move my finger, but then it fails at the end saying "enrollment not completed".
I also can't delete any of my saved fingerprints. It seems to get stuck trying to delete when I click one to remove. I'm thinking some sort of security thing got messed up when it rebooted, and I don't know how to fix it. I am rooted, so I already tried wiping cache and dalvik from TWRP. Not sure how to remove fingerprint data and start over... is there a way to do that?
I'm running the latest PE rom (flashed last week), and no, I didn't flash from Nougat in case anyone thinks this is that common issue some people have. I would try the fix for that, but since it isn't the cause of my problem I'm afraid it might mess things up more. Would really rather not hard reset again, took too long to get my phone set up with everything and paired again.

Reflash PE. If that doesn't work do a clean flash.
Boot into TWRP
Go to advanced>filemanager to acces the files in your phone.
Enter the folder /data/system/user/0
Delete following files: ./fpdata/user.db, settings_fingerprint.xml
Reboot to system and set up new fingerprints with the fingerprint wizard
Everything should work normal
