Hi, - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

I have a xiomi 3s mobile phone for just calling phone purpose and the password is lost. I can't be able to login in it.
It has no gmail account configure.
It has no usb debugging enable previously.
How can I reset or delete the password without loss my data such as contact, call recording, photos, videos, sms etc.
I was visited Xiaomi service center and they said " you will not able to use your mobile for 7 days, all the data will flashed and the charges is $50.
However it is very simple process to reset it and just taking 3 to 5 minutes also no need for experts, I can do it but the data is very important.
Please help me and save me from wipe data

use wifi and take back up or use custom rom
use wifi and take back up or use custom rom

Which password did you loose exactly? Do you mean the pin number?

If its running stock MIUI I don't think there's any way to recover data as MIUI encrypts the data partition by default.

in great trouble! help!!

i'm from nepal. i bought tmobile g1 from a friend who was back from US, it was unlocked, i could insert my SIM card and use the phone to call and everything. i reset the mobile to factory settings now whenever i try to switch on my mobile phone, it takes me to the google account set up page.. but the problem is that i haven't set the GPRS in my g1, and i cannot reach to the home screen. how can i get out of this problem? i've been trying to 'root' (i'm completely new to android or linux systems), and i'm reading a heck lot of articles on 'rooting' 'SPL', 'Cyacanogen' blah blah.. i think it will take a serious amount of time before i can do that.. is there any shortcut way to re-use my phone as for now? thankx
sounds like an APN issue
when you're on the google login screen, hit menu and wireless settings. I'm guessing your APN isn't set up on the handset for data. check the details with your provider and set up a new APN from this screen. should work after that.

WaveSecure

Hey there guys. Just wanted to share my experience with using wave secure on the desire.
After a friend was mugged and had his desire stolen from him it got me onto thinking about protection from having someone use my phone and loosing my photos etc and also trying to recover the stolen handset.
My search lead me to wave secure. A multi platform protection software.
It consists of two apps on the phone (the main app and then an app to prevent un-installing the main app).
It allows locking down the phone if a different sim is used in the handset and online tracking of the phone even with a different sim card inserted.
You can also issue commands to remotely wipe the device.
It so far seems pretty good and has caused no slow down of the handset as it does very little in the background.
There is a 7 day trial and then if you want to sign up input "goal" as a code to recieve a discount which works out at £10 a year ($14.99) which I think is pretty cheap!
Search in the market for it and give it a go!

the only issue i could see with this is the international text rates. Your phone under certain situations will text the server which is currently not based in europe. Apparantly there are plans to add a server in the UK at some point.
Also, if the phone locks, and the thief knows something about the phone, a hardreset will remove the protection. The only way around this is to root the phone and install as a system application.

But that again after a hardreset your data will be wiped and that way it will be more secure then not having the program
I use it for the data wipe function , it boring to lose your phone. But its even worse to have them looking at your Privat mail / work mail / phone numbers and so on.
And if they do a data wipe then its good enough for me

fair comment.
you don't get charged for international texts. I have had no such charges on my account so it must use a uk based server of some kind.
And I know that a hard reset will wipe it but as you so then so be it but in the event that someone finds it i know I can text my number first and request the program to locate the phone for me or lock it/wipe it etc. And even if they take the sim out and put their own in i can do the same so have a greater chance of either catching the theiving scum or getting it back etc.

New HD 2 user and XDA Member

Hi everyone,
Just joined this forum and got a HD 2 today. Everything seems to be in working order but I had a few questions:
1.) Will T-Mobile tack on the data package to my plan if I am using the HTC HD 2? I bought this phone off of someone from craigslist so I wanted to know about that. Also, will I get charged any kind of data usage if I am without a data plan? I ask this because I heard a story about a Android phone user who got charged a large amount of money because he was roaming without a data plan (somewhere along those lines).
2.) How do I get a picture to not tile when I apply it to my lock screen? I searched a couple of answers, but is there a way to prevent tiling without having to edit the photo outside of the phone itself?
Thanks in advance.
First of all this may depend on if your HD2 is T Mobile or the unlocked version. I asked a Tmobile rep in the US if I used my unlocked HD2 with their service if I would have a data plan added. He told me they wouldn't automatically add a data plan. You will have the ability to rack up pay-per-use data charges. So either pay for a data plan or disable your data connections carefully and use wifi.
I would recommend flashing a custom rom. Head over to the Rom section and try something out. The custom roms like Energy's are huge improvements over stock.
Enjoy your HD2 and Welcome.
Sorry, forgot to add that my HD is the T-Mobile version.
I tried disabling my data connection by holding the end call button then selecting the terminate data connection button, but I was wondering if that was ok to do?
Is there a way to block data completely?
I simply turn off all auto updates like weather stocks etc in their settings and use comm manager to turn of data when i do use it
There is a way to disable GPRS through the settings if you look hard enough. My custom energy rom comes with a data disable application built in.

[Q] Need some directions...

I just got my new unlocked HTC My touch 3g phone from J and R store...I put a SIM card from T-mobile from other cell phone in (prepay w/o data plan) and tried to test new device.
I cannot find a way pass first screen where I need to log in my Goggle account...it gives me a message that the SIM card does not have data plan...I thought that I will be able to get in the WI-FI menu to access the internet thru my home wireless connection and log it in that way..but no success.
My original intention was to have a phone with SIM w/o data plan and then use WI-FI for installing Apps, Games etc etc...Is that possible?...
I know that the answer is somewhere buried within these posts but I need to fix this fast ( my wife is all over me about phone not working)...if someone can give me some hints/links to the posts that can help me out I would really appreciated

Not trying to troll but this has been answered hundreds of times, mostly in threads just like this one. You cannot bypass the sign in screen on any stock myTouch/Magic ROM, only on most custom ones. If you press the menu button at the login screen, there should be an option to purchase a data day pass for $2. Do that to get in the phone, then root it and install a custom ROM so you don't have to worry about it later.

Thanks for help....I did resolve the issue....There wasn't an option to pay for data plan pass for day ( at least I did not see it in my 50+/- attempts to pass by the first screen)...what I did I went to T-mobile store and very nice young guy there helped me with store test SIM with data plan...it took 15 minutes to set up Google account and passwords etc etc and after that I put in my old prepaid SIM without data plan and phone worked like a charm. All phone functions worked and WI-FI capability allowed me to go online thru my home wireless network and to download several apps from market and to update OS to Android 2.21...etc etc

I would still root and install a new ROM. If you ever have to do a factory reset you'll have to sign in again. If you flash a new ROM, most add a "Skip" option to the login menu.

I did not know that...thanks for the hint.
I may consider it.
The only question is which ROM variant to install...

i would suggest that you try Gingerbread ROMS

S5 stolen please help

It started when some scumbag stole my bag which contained my old phone (s5) and wallet etc
My phone had a dodgy battery, smashed screen and inactive sim.
I only had it with me as it still connected to wifi so was a back up if I needed internet.
I'm particularly worried that I had screenshot of bank statements and various other sensitive documents as well as passwords for email etc stored in my notes.
I had a fingerprint lock screen set up as well as a password on private mode (I'm pretty sure I stored some passwords etc in private but not all)
As soon as i realised I called my network and had it blacklisted I then tried to do a remote wipe via device manager but although it showed the handset on the account there wasn't a remote wipe function.
I then changed my passwords for everything I remember having including my Google device manager account.
Unfortunately there was videos/photos of my kids that weren't back up which breaks my heart:crying:
So my main questions are.......
What is the most likely thing a criminal would do with the phone?
Factory reset then sell abroad? Change imei number?
How difficult would it be to hack into the phone to get my data?
Would all of that be too much effort considering the value of the model?
Finally is there any way samsung can wipe the phone for me?
Thanks so much for any help
much love
