Sound quality on Pumpkin octacore 4gb - Android Head-Units

I was looking into getting a Pumpkin 10 octa-core 4gb double din head unit. Would anyone be able to comment on what the sound quality is like from these? This would just be to power 4 door speakers and then have a separate small self powered subwoofer.
Thank you.

If you go back and scan the threads of the last few weeks or month, there is a lot of good info about this topic.
I just installed the Eonon with 5.1 Android OS in my 2002 3 series BMW. I do not have experience with these devices, so I can only comment on this one.
I really like the fit. The speed- even with a quad core 1.6Ghz CPU is not as quick as we'd like. Think Android phones from 3-4 yrs ago. Not bad, but not as speedy as a Google Pixel for example. The big change I could see is if the screen were bright enough to outshine the glare from the sun. I have ordered ant glare screen protectors. We'll see how that works out.
I have a Henharo 4.2.2 based unit. A7 processor. I have to say that unit is terrible. The screen is not bright enough, the sound quality is bad. The well known hissing noise is really annoying. GPS dies sometimes, Also there is no support from the vendor. I'm looking for a replacement. I'm not an audiophile but I like good sound. Ownice C500 looks promising, however I'm not sure about the sound chip with comes with the unit. That's TB2929. The only thing I know is that the chip is made by Toshiba
I have a MTCD made by KGL, all I can say: keep away! MTCD seems like a terrible platform, the quality by KGL is just terrible and their service non-existent.
Have to agree C500 looks very promising. Especially now that people have succeeded in rooting the device, this hopefully provides room for user mods to polish out some of the flaws.
Anyone knows how good Ownice support is.?
I just don't want to ended up with another unit without the vendor support...
You might want to look at the Joying 2GB / Sofia based units. I have had one about 2 months and real happy with it. It seems well made, fairly fast, relatively bug free. Support seems pretty good with frequent software updates, and to reply to emails.
What about the sound quality and that famous hissing sound?
There is one interesting unit I have found on their website: JY-UL135N2
. Newest RAM 2GB Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Auto Radio for Universal Vehicles
. 7-Inch Double 2 Din Digital Capacitive Touchscreen
. CPU: Intel SoFIA 3GR , 4 Cores
. RAM: DDR3 2GB, Flash: EMMC 32GB
. Resolution: 1024x600 display, support 1080P videos
. With the new developed android 5.1 system
. Support PIP, DVR, OBD2, DAB+, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, RDS, etc.
Just the thing which bothers me is the sound quality. The unit I bought has way worse sound than the stock radio.
That Joying unit's sound processor is TDA7388 - is it any good?

It sounds good to me, much better than the stock unit that was replaced. No noticeable hissing or any issues. Only downside is no controls for the sub on the equalizer.
oh that's a problem for me. I have an infinity sound system in my car. That Android unit I got installed was just terrible. I pulled it out yesterday and sent back to the seller. I'm kinda picky in terms of the sound quality. (not an audiophile though)
Are there any mosfet based units available?
and also any word on Newsmy NR3001 unit?
@slav.z What did you end up getting?
JY-UL135N2. All works . I didn't update to 6.1 though. Not a fan of untested firmware.
Your Joying JY-UL135N2, will it support third party usb camera, and can you use third party usb camera apps with it like Carr O.
I will NEVER buy another as the SH*TS crippled Android to only work with their usb camera, and locked out other apps from using their camera.
Can you confirm open usb camera?
Hi, there, you must visit this link the site suggest 10 of the best android auto head unit, just read the full article and you will find what are you looking for
I had ok luck with Joying, sound was better than my stock unit, my only real complaint is slow boot and app launch time. 2-3 mins from power on til Spotify plays, or GMaps track my location.
UP
s190 are great imo
Startup is 25 seconds, or it can be put into Auto Sleep with instant On which says only uses 9mA

Recomendations Dasaita V Xtrons

I am going to replace the factory head unit in my 120 series 2006 Prado and would love some advice.
I have had an Erisin double din unit that is around eight years old now and has performed really well apart from the lack of memory pushing the GPS to the edge although for the most part it coped OK.
I am interested in a PX5 based unit and would prefer knob controls, but these seem thin on the ground in the 200mmx 100mm to suit the Toyota.
I am interested in the Dasaita HA2135-V840-8 due to the comments about the quality of the chips for bluetooth and radio etc, but not convinced with the lack of DVD, and DAB+ support.
The Xtrons PB78HGTP looks really good, but lists the display as 800x480 compared to the Dasaita's 1024x600.
I can't find any definitive info about Xtrons chips, but like the features of the unit more that the Dasaita's.
The Xtrons PA77HGTP has my preferred control layout, but would the PX3 be disappointing compared to the PX5 units.
I am not yet allowed to post links but they can be googled easily
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

New PX5 MTCE doesn't get loud enough

Love my new xtrons 8.0 unit. Just have an issue with the volume not being loud enough. I have a logic 7 system in my bmw e90, and the new deck just doesn't get loud enough!

Newbie to Android Head Units - Questions and Advice requested

Hey everyone, total newbie so bear with me. I've come across 3 HU's on Ali and I'm wondering are there really differences between the units, specs, good or bad, and the different sellers, again, good or bad? Thanks in advance. Here are the 3 similar units:
I can't post links So Sorry. Search these units on Aliexpress:
JOYING 4GB RAM Android 8.0 Car Audio HU stereo for JEEP WRANGLER Radio GPS system for Grand Cherokee head unit for Dodge Avenger $351
4G LTE 7" Android 8.0 Octa Core 4GB RAM Car DVD Multimedia Player For Jeep Patriot Liberty Wrangler Unlimited Compass Commander $317
Dasaita 7" Android 8.0 Car GPS Radio Player for Jeep Chrysler Dodge with Octa Core 4GB+32GB Auto Stereo Navi Video Multimedia $423
Bump. No one has any experience or knowledge they are willing to share to help a Newbie out?
I'm new to Android head units. Neither of the ones I've tried are what you're after but I'll share my experience.
Only tried two brands; a Pumpkin which was okay but took 30-40s to boot each time and for me I only have single din, the motorized display kept hitting the dash and was at a funny angle. Sound quality was nothing to write home about.
The second brand is a Joying one. The sound quality is absolutely atrocious for me and then it has these buttons on the side which are touch buttons. No matter how much you configure them in the settings, I can never seem to touch the right area which is highly annoying.
In my previous car I had a double din Pioneer which sounded unbelievably good with the stock speakers, unfortunately my latest car only has single din. If you really want an Android head unit, be prepared to not have the best sound quality.
Again I've only tested two but I'm sure others on here will have found what works well.

Best amplifier chip / DSP or not

Hi,
I'm just looking for a new Android head unit for my car, and here's what I found on Aliexpress :
First one is a Seicane branded one, with AC7315 amplifier chip according to the seller, and DSP built-in
Aliexpress Link (Select "WIFI(2G 32G)H5N-RPH" )
Second one is a GiantLion branded one, TDA 7388 amp chip according to the seller but without DSP
Aliexpress Link (Select "WIFI (2GB 32GB) D")
Which one would you think has the best sound quality ? Both do have an Allwinner T3 CPU so it's identical on this point, but I read somewhere about someone having a really poor sound quality with the AC7315 amp, so I found this unit with a TDA7388 but it doesn"t have DSP, so I'm a little lost...
Thank you !
Hi and welcome new member,
Not MTCD or hardware development, requesting mod moves. Allwinner T3 CPU are not MTCD.
In reply, both would be poor, suggest avoiding these units altogether.
Take a little time to read through the forums and familiarise yourself with the forums and unit types.
Thanks for your reply !
I'm sorry I didn't really know where to post this...
I have a good 4 channel car amplifier from Blaupunkt, do you think if I hook it up to any of these units the sound would be better than its integrated amp ? Like can the RCA output also be of poor quality ?
