Hi all,
I was taking images of some documents using my OP8P and I seen a little icon in the bottom left corner pop up depicting a document.
Does anyone know what the functionality of this button is? It could be turned off or on.
I took images with it on and off and get were pretty much indistinguishable. I initially thought that button enabled would automatically crop the document to look like a scanned image.
I'd love an answer here too! Thanks
Good question, I have no idea...

Theres a similar feature on the Huawei p20 Pro, it's simply the camera trying to be a smarty pants AFAIK.
It's sort of a scanner feature.
Eg: you point your camera at a dog and the camera adjusts for definition and dynamic range.
If it's a document it'll speed up the shutter speed and lower the dynamic range to get a clear image..
It usually crops or allows cropping on the Huawei, haven't used it on the Pro but it's most likely that as I've not seen a document camera mode.
Just a guess but it would make sense

I had a diamond before I got my Xperia, besides the little problems like the bluetooth turning off (fixed with good ol' mortscript) and stuff its awesome. All though the camera is realy bad, it gives a realy nice picture but the exposure time is way too long even with sport mode on. you've got to hold the thing perfectly straight for a second or two other wise its blur-city.
Is this just my X1 or are others having the same problem?
Can't say I use the camera much just would be nice to find some sort of reg key or something to make it a bit more functional.
Yes, the camera is virtually unusable as-is, because you have to keep it steady for ages.
And the problem is that if you give the phone to someone else to help you take a group picture, the long shutter time (which no one normally expects) means I have to go and explain to people to keep pressing for 2-3 seconds and not move at all.
It is stupid.
Yup, its a shame SE realy need to send out a few fixes for this phone, after all it is their flagship product at the moment, the O2 stores near me cant even get hold of them.
Bluetooth and Camera definatly need fixing
Unfortunately, since SE has decided not to use HTC to build their phones again, the Xperia X1's firmware is unlikely to be fixed ever again... sigh.
Eh, it doesn't matter if SE cooperates with HTC or not, they have their own WM department and a new firmware is already out according to this (czech) site:

One quick solution is going for infinity focus instead of auto-focus. Seems like the majority of the time is taken up by the focusing function.
the tw rom is newer in the rom thread.
as to the focus i tend to press it and leave it.
I'm trying to say that if you have focus set to auto (in the camera settings) it takes much longer to take a photo than when you have it set to infinity.

Not so easy to do this if you are at a party and want to take a group photo...
Maybe infinity focus is the answer...
btw do we know what the latest firmware is?
open the phone and press the enter button once, or press the ok/center dpad once to start the process of the picture being taken.
also use multi shot this allows you to take pictures after another and then later delete ones that you do not want.
the US x1 has a newer camera cab but it doesnt help the time it takes to take a pic
i use sport mode with focus set to infinity as default settings. this gives great results and no need to hold still that much as some were suggesing.
overall the camera is great and its clearly better than the T*Omnia 5MP camera.
lets hope the new camera application from the Asian rom improve things. is it avalable CABed someware?
Sport and infinate
Although the focus isnt as good as Macro or Auto it is an improvment for the capture speed.
Setting to Sport and Infinate works a hell of a lot better than what I was using. (Sport and Auto).
Cheers guys.

I thought this for ages, its not true it really just means it has a slower shutter speed (multi-frame shot) which is why most of your pictures that involve movement will come out blurry.
Also, here is a hint for taking pictures faster: The button has 2 pressure points, hold the button down to the first point to focus, do NOT let go--then push it down all the way to take the picture it should do it instantly
For me Sports + Infinite = instant picture.

When I change the standardfocus setting in the camera settings it won't save it. When I start the camera later it doesnt give me the right settings i choosed in camer settings. What am I doing wrong here? For example I wan't sport mode with macro, but I get sport mode with autofocus everytime I start the camera..

You have to press the down arrow on the bottom right side of the screen when in settings this will bring a more detailed settings page and you can set the default settings in there and your camera will use them everytime
Good luck
I'm a Touch Pro user but we don't have the ability to do infinite zoom. It's probably a registry value we're missing. Would anyone mind sharing any registry strings that seem to discuss focus or zooming? It would likely be in HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera
Thanks

Same problem here. The default focus setting is infinite, but the camera is on auto everytime.
I'm very pleased with my HD2 overall, but there's one area where it comes up short in comparison to the iPhone imo: in the default zoomed out browser page view, if you click on a link (which is small, but it does briefly change colour so you know the press has registered), nothing happens - I have to zoom in (with a pinch or double press) before it will work. This is the case in both Opera and IE.
Is there by any chance a config hack to sort this? I'm new to Windows Mobile, perhaps it's a known weakness? Because the link does highlight it makes me think this is more of a software issue than a hardware one, so ought to be fixable/hackable?
Thanks,
Andy

when i go to google.nl and its zoomed out, i click on the right upper side to log in/sign in, so for me this aint no issue.
Just one bump in case anybody else has any thoughts (I appreciate that this isn't an issue for the poster above, but it is for me ).
You can search the forum for a solution (it was posted dozens of times across the place). You'll need to change zoom settings to achieve what you want.
Just note that you'll lose something as well. The current behavior allows you to activate onHover events (stuff that websites do when you move your mouse over an element). With default settings you get popups/menus activated without firing the link action (an option missing in the iPhone browser).
Yes, I'm having the same problem from time to time. Sometimes I can hit tiny targets and sometimes I have to zoom right in to hit a link. I guess it's just a matter of getting used to the capacitive screen.

Thanks, I found the registry setting (software,opera,info,az_overview_threshold), reduced it to 32 and haven't noticed any obvious side effects yet. This makes a big difference for me, especially when I set the minimum font size to medium in the menu settings.
Hi there, I've had my DHD for awhile now and have been looking for ways to capture my photos by just touching and holding on the screen but haven't had any luck on it. On my previous HTC devices I had no problem capturing photos by just touching and holding on the screen.
Is this because of a setting being turned of? or is it just the stock camera app that comes with android 2.2 that doesn't include the feature?
Thanks in advance.
Touching the screen sets the point of focus so I'm note sure how this would work?
Yeah that's what I also thought so it's most probably the camera app that doesn't let me do it. I also read I that you're able to change the volume buttons' functions on the dhd, that could also work..
I thought the vol buttons operated the zoom?
Talkiing of zoom, has anyone noticed that the camer seems zoomed in a little by default (not according to the zoom meter) making if very difficult to get the subject in the frame without going some distance away?
Thats because you're on 16/9 mode. Switch to 4/3 and you'll get a lot more in your frame

Hmmm, that answers the problem to an extent - except I seem to have two modes only:
4:3
5:3 (widescreen)
Where the hell did 5:3 come from? Surely this should be 16:9 as above?

Yes, I have, especially when taking a video....when I shoot a pic, it seems normal
I've been using the camera a lot lately and have always had a problem with the picture quality, mainly indoor pics. I would hold the phone steady, press the shutter button down halfway, wait for it to focus, then take a picture, but it would still end up a little blurry. Anyone getting problems like this? If not, what settings are you using?
Also, my biggest gripe is the fact that camera settings can't be saved. I would set it up so a friend could take a picture of me, but they somehow always press that search button, which then erases all my camera settings when they go back to the camera app. Did anyone find a hack or some sort of method to keep the settings permanent?
The main reason I have to bring all this up was biggest after taking blurry pictures last night, my friend's just bust out their iphones and with one simple click, they took an almost instantaneous photo with no settings to mess with and no blur at all.
I would also like to add that one of my friends was trying to take photos with his lg quantum as well, and he has the same problem. Is this a problem with windows phone 7 in general?
you could check out shcamera. It's a sideloaded app that was developed for the hd2 crowd, so it doesn't use the camera button, it's all screen rouc, and it doesn't have all the various settings/adjustments, but it saves settings and works pretty good. Tap screen to focus, press onscreen shutter button to take picture.

Same here. I owned an HD7 that didn't have this blurry issue. It seems the Focus camera is super sensitive to movement.
Thanks, at least I know i'm not the only one with this problem. I try to turn on anti shake everytime i use the app, which actually helps a lot. The problem is when I give the phone to someone so they can take the picture. They somehow accidently press the search button and I have to play with the settings again. Kind of a bummer, but I'll try to get used to it.

You might consider having them take more than one picture. I've noticed that when I take another picture after the blurry one, the results tend to be more normal. Maybe have them take a preliminary picture and then a real one. This seems preferable to messing with settings all the time.
Nice. The new NoDo update made the anti-shake option on by default. That will help a lot!

the nodo update didnt default the anti shake on by default on my focus .
The official nodo update for att focus includes a Samsung update that defaults the antishake on, helps lessen accidental capacitive button presses, includes an att hotspot sniffer/whisper that auto logins, and has a provision for transferring att phonebook contacts onto the phone

Me, too. Still have blurry pics, though.
in low light indoors you might want to try the setting photo quality on medium instead of the default hi setting.
I thought that this was in the presentation at the announcement. It's similar to what the iPhone does. Is it coming in a later update? Honestly it's not useful and more of a novelty but it's still kind of cool. And no I won't just go get an iPhone to have it. Never an option

I wasn't sure if this worked either, so i just did a test of it right now. Make sure burst mode is enabled on your camera. then in the camera app, when taking a photo, press and hold the shutter button... when i did it i had the camera focused on my spare hand, and when i pressed the shutter button (and hold it), i made hand movements while the camera shutter was pressed... i just kind of quickly counted to 5 in my mind. and released shutter button. I was pleased to find an animation that was created in the photos app, an animation of me moving my hand/fingers. pretty neat...
you can share this GIF inside of google hangouts, and the recipient will receive the gif and see the animation. pretty neat.
Well that's very cool!
As a note, if you had auto-upload enabled via Google Photos, it always did this. Now though, it's offloaded that to the phone, so you can have them immediately. Only downside is that these gifs aren't compatible with Facebooks new video upload profile pic. That'd be too easy. :-\
