LG G Watch VS Samsung Gear Live.

What is your guys opinion on both these smart watches?
Both have pros and cons.
Galaxy Gear Live:
Pro:
Has a better screen.
Heart rate monitor
Cons:
Smaller 300 mah batter.
Charging cradle is horrible.
LG G Watch.
Pro
Bigger battery.
Has a lot of praise on the XDA sub forum.
Cons.
Lower quality screen.

I have not used the LG yet but I can't complain about the battery on the Gear Live. Today is my first full day of use and I'm at 48% right now after 14 hours. Not bad. I had the Gear 2 and I love Android Wear as a os over what Sammy does. I like the build and look of the Gear Live. Looking forward to more apps.

The Gear Live is much like the Gear Neo and people sure they like more battery life but I believe the screen is not as hard on the battery as the LG watch.

I had a Neo for a couple of months and I would get about three days battery life.
It was ok but it really looked like it wasn't going to get any decent apps for it, so I switched to the G watch.
On the Gear, I miss the Home key and the longer battery life than the G watch.
The G watch works better with notifications but if they aren't from Google Apps, you only get the title of the notification and a small amount of the content.
You also can't change the font size on the G watch and to be honest, it's just too big when scrolling through an email.
I'm very hopeful that the limitations on notifications will be addressed as apps are updated to integrate with Android Wear. I really couldn't see this happening with the Gear as the audience is just too small for the app developers to bother.
Also, I'm looking forward to some decent extensions of existing apps that actually work well with Android Wear!

The main factor for me is: changable watch straps.
I've managed to snap every plastic watch strap I've ever worn within 2 months.

I'm debating to get the Gear Live or G Watch.
I'm just waiting to see if T-Mobile or AT&T will be carrying the Gear Live anytime soon. You can get a G Watch for under $200 if you pick 2 more small accessories on AT&T.

I like g watch she have a good look

I have the G Watch.
I'm pleased with it and find:
Screen is fine in daylight and even bright sun.
Easily good for a day battery life.
I had the Gear 2 and I prefer the less bulky size of the G Watch.
I don't notice the slightly lower res of the G Watch....things still look crisp and good.
Not had any issues with the lack of a power button and you can restart watch in the settings.
I do think there should be a home button mind.
Overall, I'm pleased with my purchase and the pace that apps are being developed is looking really good.....unlike the Tizen platform!

I bought my g watch from best buy yesterday just call a local one and ask when they'll have it in store. They should be able to check other stores near you too.

Did they have them out to play with? I want to experience android wear but wondering if I should wait. That's why I was leaning more towards the Gear Live solely because it's a little cheaper.

I have the G Watch and like it so far. Coming from the Gear 1 running Tizen, it was a pretty big learning curve. Android Wear has more development and lets me do more from my watch than Tizen (i.e. navigate, change phone volume, stream live camera feed from the phone, etc). I do miss making calls on the watch....a lot. I sorta miss the camera but I rarely used it.
From what I've read, the Gear Live is similar to the Neo, only with Wear not Tizen. So I wouldn't imagine there are huge differences between the Live and G Watch aside from cosmetics.
I'll definitely buy a next gen Android Wear watch when they get speakers!

I would go for Gear Live better screen, better looks and the heart rate monitor is a huge addition

No one are useful

Samsung Gear Live is better than LG Watch: it's better looking and, if Samsung leaves Android for Tizen, it would be one of those devices which will turn to this OS, even if I prefer Android

I have to go for the g watch. I actually prefer the looks of the G watch, I like that it has a clean industrial design with no buttons Many people hate that but I love it.
Also I hate Samsung and tizen is just hurgh. LG all the way, my phone is a Nexus 5 also from LG
I don't do sports lel: no heartbeatsensor, so what? I only wish the screen was a little better on the G Watch as you can really see the pixels sometimes. And the amoled screen is also a plus for the gear live as it doesn't shine as much at night and is better visible in daylight.
All in all the watches are very similar considering hardware so I guess it comes down to the look basically.

Personally, I went with the G Watch, but it was by a small margin. The larger battery on the G watch and a disdain for samsung's business practices (I fear samsung will be more likely to lock down the OS and/or design apps specifically for use with Samsung phones - although so far it seems like Google is doing a good job keeping things uniform across devices) were two of the deciding factors. I would have preferred an AMOLED screen and higher resolution, but the screen isn't *that* much better than the G watch's screen.
I think the gear live is the better choice if you intend to have the screen always on, especially with a mostly black background (power saving with amoled), and plan to use it primarily as a stylish watch. The gear live is subjectively better looking, and a nice watch face that's always on could potentially make it look even more stylish. The battery is sufficient for a day's use of a good-looking watch that you occasionally use for google now and other apps.
However, if you turn off the display's "always on" feature, and plan to use the watch extensively for apps/google services, I think the G watch delivers better battery life. So far, I haven't minded tapping the screen to see the date and time, so the watch display is almost always off - meaning the battery savings with samsung's amoled display would be nearly negligible for my use. However, I'm using the watch a LOT: I use it for navigation, I'm constantly signed in to hangouts and reply to the messages through the watch, I keep a running list of to-do notes, etc. I also have the screen brightness set really high, because its usually off anyway, but it's perfectly visible when I need it (even outdoors). With a full charge in the morning and the brightness set very high, I have yet to kill the battery before I go to sleep, even when I've used the watch extensively all day long - which is good, because my use will only increase as apps are developed.
tl;dr Ultimately, they're very similar and you can't really go wrong. The extra 100mAh on the G watch is probably negated if you plan to keep the watch "always on" (in fact, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the Gear Live even gets better battery life when the screen is always on). If you turn the display off, though, then the battery-saving display technology won't matter as much and you'll have an extra 100mAh of battery life.

I went in today to pick up the G watch and my best buy didn't have any. This is really frustrating. I believe the Gear Live is rumored to be available the 27th or 28th of July at best buys so maybe I'll check in a day or so for that watch. I want to try either one but don't want to have order one. Anyone having luck with finding them at best buys?
Thanks everyone for the reviews. I think they are both decent I'd be happy with either. I know they're not no moto 360, but I bet they end up being a good amount cheaper than the 360. So hopefully I can find one of these in best buy. Leaning towards the Gear live cause the screen and heart rate monitor.

They may connect, but they are not Android Wear. So there's a lot you'll be missing. You may want to watch some video reviews for comparison.

I got the LG G Watch as a christmas present and it is amazing! There's really not much of a difference between any of the Android Wear watches. Some have a slightly bigger battery but other than that, they're all the same.
Only big difference between any of these watches are how they look. Round vs. Square.

I absolutely love my ZenWatch. Best Christmas present I've received in a long time.

I've had my Asus Zenwatch for 6 going on 7 days now, and I really like it. Pictures don't do this thing justice, it is a NICE looking square watch. With the slightly curved display, it really helps it kinda blend in with your wrist more, and doesn't make it appear so large ( I have medium sized wrists). I like using this watch for just an ACTUAL watch alone, forget about Android Wear.
As for Android Wear.....It's just useful enough to keep me interested. I don't much care for the fitness aspects of Android Wear, but receiving my notifications on my wrist has kept me interested enough. This watch has dramatically cut down how often i fumble around with my phone and turn on the screen to check for notifications or messages. Also, receiving these notifications on your wrist and being able to act upon them seems so much more natural and less intrusive in a social environment. A quick glance at my wrist and maybe a swipe or two, and I'm done.
All in all I am happy with my purchase, and at $199 USD, it's one of the cheaper Android Wear watches. It's also a watch that you'd just want to wear as a nice watch, because there is no doubt that is what it is.

Yea, at $199, the ZenWatch is a steal! That said, the cheapest I can find it right now is at Amazon for $280. At that price, I would definitely pay $10 more and get the LG G Watch R. Paired with a nice band, it makes for a wonderful looking watch and is a much more conventional with a round face. With the recessed watch face, I would anticipate the LG to be more study than the ZenWatch and Moto as well.

I noticed that as well on Amazon. I'm not sure why it's like that, but look for it on the play store. That's where I got mine, and its $199.
My opinion on the G Watch R is that it definitely is the go to watch if you want it to look identical to a simple/normal watch. It does look rather bulky though. The Zenwatch doesn't look like a normal watch, but it really shows that smart watches can be beautiful without being circular and trying to completely mimic a simple watch. I've had serval complaints on mine already.

Have you checked out the inWatchZ
Personally I don't like any of them. With the growing demand on smart tech the market is going to evolve quickly. I am holding out for a watch that can do everything you would want a phone to do.
Check out the inWatch Z brand I feel they have a solution that is superior to a lot of the brands on the market.
The smartwatchgroup website does an extensive review of the upcoming smart watches. inWatch Z rated 8th in the world market. plus its the only watch that is also a standalone phone.

Actually, it is comparable in size to expensive chronographs and doesn't look the least bit bulky on my normal sized male wrist. That said, it would look absurd on a woman's wrist.

I've had the Moto 360 ever since the beginning of December and absolutely love it. At first the battery life wasn't the greatest and I would occasionally have connection issues, but once it got the Android 5.0 update sometime during December, everything completely turned around. I get about 2 days per charge now, and it's as stable as could be.

With all that extra kit (camera, flash card & micro usb port) it's only got the same battery rating as the K8/D5/X1 - I don't see how it could last very long.
It must be very chunky in size as well I'm guessing....

if it is going to be as the thickness of the s8 then not that thick BUT if it is going to be as the s82 then yes it is going to be chunky, i also wonder about the battery life the s8 and s82 had terrible battery life when i used activity tracking apps and notifications apps or even just BT the battery did'nt last more then 6 hours :\

On the site they have released pics of the side. Seems to have the same 470mha battery. After pondering over the s8 or no.1 d5 (that goes out the window now with these running lollipop) I will ponder over the s83 or s99. I like the design of the s83. I have contacted them there at zgpax and they have said its not been released yet. It has a tf(sd) card slot and play store. They will let me know when released.

it is better you wait for someone else to buy it to see if it has synchronization app and what are the tracking activity apps it has, the s82 has 700 mAh and still did'nt last a day with usage and BT drained the battery really fast less than 2 hours, that is why i love so much the D5 even with heavy usage it last more than 10 hours and that's alot. i like the idea of sd card slot but not if it will be chunky and the battery life is the same as the other ones.

Of course I will not buy it now. Although I won't be using it for synchronization and not really the whole day. It will be my primary phone. I would have got the d5 but the lack of a sd card slot blew it for me. As I said its gonna be my primary phone. Hope someone gets it soon and reviews!

It would be a HUUUUUUGE plus if they didn't have antenna in their bands anymore. I broke mine on the s8 and had to solder the piece of crap together with the antenna from s29.
Also, the touchscreen inaccuracy was really annoying, and I hope they fixed it.

The S82 has not 700 mh battery. I have one and a second battery, and have 500. The problem its that they said 700 but i think they had problems with battery and because of this they mount only 500. In many shops they yet say 700 but not.
The problems with ZGPAX S82 I had:
- Support: zero. Even they not respond any mail.
- Battery: not show the real percent so you can have 50% an in a few minutes down to 15%.
- Gps: lost a lot of sattelites or signal when you put on. Impossible use it like navigator to drive.
- Touch response: a few inacurate.
- Screen rotate: in many apps its impossible put it ok.

i have the s82 hate this watch, i have 4 batteries and one of them is 700mAh and it did NOT improve battery life, i used it as i use the D5 now and the D5 is way better than the s82 in all specs.

The s83 is available for order. Waiting for someone to review it. I suppose an android 6 one will come out next or following year.

now there are 2 5.1 square watches but which one is better. i'm considering the s99 or the kingwear as i said because the sd card but i want to see which has better battery life ( i did'nt have good battery life with zgpax watches) and which has better companion app

I hope you can all help me. I run a company in the UK that rebrand Chinese products and bring them to market in Europe. My brand is called Superspot, and in the past we have made powerbanks, speakers, products for PS4 and more. They can be found for sale on Amazon, Mobile Fun and other sites in the UK.
However now we are considering taking the leap into smartwatches. I have read this thread with interest as two of the watches we are being offered are the i2 and s99.
Our preference at the moment is to go with the s99. This would see us rebrand the watch to our own brand, and in all likelihood we would rebox it, rewrite the manual, and generally tidy the product up so it was fit for 'western' consumption. We have had conversations with the manufacturers and at the moment they seem to be able to produce what we are looking for. Our sole route to market is through online platforms such as those mentioned above.
I wondered if you would be so good as to tell me your opinions on what the s99 is supposed to be able to do. Why would you buy or not buy this watch compared to others on the market? Would you spend $200 on this watch (£140) if it came with a years guarantee and was protected through Amazon etc? Why this watch and not a Gear S, swr50, LG Urbane, Moto 360? Do people really want a watch with sim-card functionality?
Also I would be interested to know opinion on a watch running full Android 5.1 lollipop as the s99 does. Does anyone have experience of how apps 'fit' onto the watch?
We are also being offered a myriad of colours, and we are tempted to go for various options including reds and oranges, as it seems to us a lot of smartwatches are going down the basic black or brown route. We want to offer something that looks different, is this a wise decision?
Finally we have the option of making the s99 with 8GB capacity instead of the standard 4GB. Would this be advantageous to the user?
I know this is a lot of questions, and I am a little worried about how this will be received (I've seen comments about rebranders on this thread!!!!), but ANY feedback will be gratefully received.

My brand is called Superspot, and in the past we have made powerbanks, speakers, products for PS4 and more. They can be found for sale on Amazon, Mobile Fun and other sites in the UK.
However now we are considering taking the leap into smartwatches. I have read this thread with interest as two of the watches we are being offered are the i2 and s99.
Our preference at the moment is to go with the s99. This would see us rebrand the watch to our own brand, and in all likelihood we would rebox it, rewrite the manual, and generally tidy the product up so it was fit for 'western' consumption. We have had conversations with the manufacturers and at the moment they seem to be able to produce what we are looking for. Our sole route to market is through online platforms such as those mentioned above.
I wondered if you would be so good as to tell me your opinions on what the s99 is supposed to be able to do. Why would you buy or not buy this watch compared to others on the market? Would you spend $200 on this watch (£140) if it came with a years guarantee and was protected through Amazon etc? Why this watch and not a Gear S, swr50, LG Urbane, Moto 360? Do people really want a watch with sim-card functionality?
Also I would be interested to know opinion on a watch running full Android 5.1 lollipop as the s99 does. Does anyone have experience of how apps 'fit' onto the watch?
We are also being offered a myriad of colours, and we are tempted to go for various options including reds and oranges, as it seems to us a lot of smartwatches are going down the basic black or brown route. We want to offer something that looks different, is this a wise decision?
Finally we have the option of making the s99 with 8GB capacity instead of the standard 4GB. Would this be advantageous to the user?
I know this is a lot of questions, and I am a little worried about how this will be received (I've seen comments about rebranders on this thread!!!!), but ANY feedback will be gratefully received.

i think it is better to ask on the thread of no.1 d5 and i2 and kingwear and finow q1 and on k18\k8 mini and k9 and x5 and x3 ppl who used more than just one watch. about the s99 no one has it yet so you wo'nt get any info about it from here. i brought all thread because many here change the watch if the find one that is better than what they have (as i do even though i love the D5), the standalone watches are better choices because they can be used without the need of the phone around.

Which Wear OS watch to get for 2019?

My Pebble Time has been on it's last legs for a while but I held out last year hoping that they'd release a Pixel Watch but they never did. Then I heard about the Snapdragon 3100 chip and that a ton of watches would follow once that was released but that never did (I think Fossil Sport was the only watch that came out). However, my Pebble Time has now completely given up the ghost and I'm watchless. I was hoping to string it out until later this year as there are again more rumours that the Pixel Watch will come out this year. If I was to get a watch today then I think the best watch is Huawei Watch 2 Sport but this is over 2 years old now and I'm worried that it won't be supported much longer so it would be a terrible time to buy. How strong is the thinking that the Pixel Watch will come out this year? Where are all the watches that were supposed to come with the 3100 chip? I have a non-smart watch that I can use to tie me over for a few months but only if I can get something in 2019.

The Montblanc Summit 2 has a 3100. But it's also $1100... I'd gladly wear one but I don't think I'd buy it. I did the same searching a while back. I think the Falster 2 might be a 3100 too and looked pretty reasonable. I ended up buying a small cheap MTK watch to play with for the moment. Which kind of works but isn't in the same league...

I have almost all Wear Watch (and also pebble) but I think the last is the better : Ticwatch Pro. Better battery life for all Wear Watch even better than my Huawei 2. About 2% by hour when all others have at least 3.5-4.5% by hour. So real 2 days battery life and can charge the 3rd days. Big, big point is also the real LCD screen (FSTN) for always ON mode. So it is always ON like the pebble and no light emmitted by the watch.

Actually i'm a Fossil Smartwatch Gen. 4 user and it's awesome from all the way. I don't why any topic exists in here. It has heart rate function, built-in GPS and a premium design with a good price
For 3100 i think it's very expensive now, my next watch will be a 3100 one, also i'm thinking to buy again a Fossil. There was rumors that Google will work with Fossil on next smartwatches and that made me glad about it.

I also had the Pebble Time Steel which was killed after I entered a salt water pool with it.
After a few month of walking with a "normal" watch I bought a Fossil Q Explorist Gen 4. which is based on the 2100 cpu.
I thought about getting the Fossil Sport which has the 3100 cpu for the same price, but the Q looks much better.
I get over a day of battery with always on display, wifi and bluetooth on, and with the periodic heart rate monitoring.
I use it mostly for showing the time and for notifications. Despite all the reviews trashing Wear OS, I must say I disagree and I like this watch.
I got it for $200 which is much cheaper than Apple and Samsung (the Pebble was $350!) and i wouldn't think twice for buying it

Currently using TicWatch Pro for weeks, and very happy with it.
If you can splurge some budget, I can also recommend Casio ProTrek WSD-F30 which, like TicWatch Pro, also has dual layer display.
Tough it has twice the price, the added protection and features really worth your money.

Watches with SIM cards
I have never seen much purpose in a phone-dependent watch, much like the Bluetooth earpiece I quit carrying after less than a year (back in 2006), why do we want ANOTHER thing to schlep around, charge, etc.?
However, a number of smart watch phones have come out which handle 4G SIM cards making them phone-independent, and I _can_ see a use case for leaving the bulky phablet phone home and wearing a (bulky) watch instead.
Sort of at random, I got a Kingwear KC05 4G 8MP Camera IP67 Waterproof WIFI GPS Smart Watch Phone, and it's a nice quality piece, particularly for the price, but as mentioned above, even though it runs full Android 7.1.1 and doesn't need to pair to a tablet phone for anything, it's pretty hard to navigate the super high DPI round touchscreen, though I am surprised how easy the on-screen keyboard is to use accurately.
Any other smart-watch-phone experiences out there to share?

The common conception is that Ford introduced the Mustang in 1964 to incredible success, and the folks at arch-rival Chevrolet simply copied the concept to unveil the Camaro in 1966 for the 1967 model year. For what I do,a connected watch is a must. Live being able to see messages, control music devices and other things like that when I can't have my phone in my hand. It's fantatsic.

Are you using your Galaxy Watch with a non-Sammy device? My incomplete understanding is that the Samsung framework is required in a phone for full functionality of their watches.

I just bought the ticwatch pro, it’s bothering me the lag in ui response. I can only hope that it’s sorting itself out being new, and will improve with time.
Maybe I should return while I still can, that falster 2 isn’t much more expensive...

There's lag? I just picked up a 2nd hand Huawei Watch 2 for £70 and it's quite laggy. I was going to go for the Pro but it's £220,im glad I didn't now!

This makes me smile.

I just grabbed the Fossil Explorer... This is my first non-Samsung smartwatch and so it's a bit different. WearOS is cool, but I've noticed it's slow to completely boot ( 2 minutes or so ) and not as buttery smooth as the Tizen OS. The OOB experience was great right up to the point of updates... sweet Jesus that was a horrific experience as the watch slowed down, had incredibly long response times and was generally frustrating until they all got done.... that was done being waded through, things got much much better... the integration of Google things is spot on and really nice to have and works really well. The gesture system is good, if somewhat quirky ( I think most of this is because I'm used to the Samsung gestures and just need to get used to the WearOS way ) . the screen is great, it charges quickly and looks terrific. I'd say consider this model if you're in the market. If you can survive the initial updating, you'll like it a lot.

Galaxy Watch requires you to add Samsung bloat to non Samsung devices, and it is expensive.
Me personally I would not buy a watch without Google Pay.

It has more internal memory than pass devices
and excellent battery life,

After 4.5 years running Wear OS on my Moto 360 (gen 2) the battery finally died, so I decided it was time to upgrade. I just bought the Fossil Carlyle HR (gen 5). Only had the watch for 2 days, but I love this watch! Great design, runs quick, charges quick, battery lasts a couple days or more depending on your settings, and the addition of having Google Pay in my watch is a game changer.

I concur. My new Gen 5 is a beast. I do admit the Samsung Gear Sport I had was a real smooth watch. The issue with the Samsung is that it died after 4 months. Samsung does not put the serial number on the watch. Since I had thrown the box away, Samsung told me I was SOL. What that means for me. No matter how good a Samsung product seams to be. I still will not buy it because there business practice and customer service down right sucks.

Fossil gen 5 worth it?

Hello,
I'm thinking of buying a new smartwatch. I want to replace my amazfit bip with something better. I would like to try pure android but I see that the battery in this smartwatch is not great. Does anyone use fossil gen 5 on a daily basis? And can share experience. The battery will last 24 hours without charging? If fast charging works, I don't see any problem charging it every day.

I own the Gen 5 and have had it since it came out. I think Wear Os has major issues that need to be addressed. It seems after so long that Google may have abandoned Wear Os to an extent. Just when you think it's been too long for a patch update, one small incremental one comes out, just to keep you from jumping ship. As for the fitness aspects of Wear Os compared to Amazfit, you might be disappointed as Wear Os does so much more than just fitness tracking, which in turn, makes it lack in fitness accuracy. For an Os that's been out as long as Wear Os many of the minor issues should've been worked out by now. Battery life will last a day if you don't do much with the watch but if you are a heavy user it'll die within a few hours. So I feel like you get one extreme or the other. So I guess if you're getting it for the fitness aspect you'll probably be disappointed. For everything else it's a good overall watch but there are issues.

Thanks for the answer, I really appreciate that. I like the look of this watch so much and the pure android, it's a pity that the battery has poor optimization. I would have to find it somewhere in town and be able to test it, if I could be sure that fossil would last at least two days with my use, I would take it.
From today I am testing the huawei gt 2 sport watch, it looks nice but it is limited by functions and I don't like it. I ordered the galaxy watch active 2 and hope it is the best decision, probably samsung managed to make one of the best smart watches.

I've been reading that people are very happy with the galaxy watch. Some even say that it's ahead of Android Wear in many respects.

If you follow the tips in that video: [ sorry, cant post links so far, but search for: "FOSSIL GEN 5 - THIS IS HOW I EXTENDED 2+Day BATTERY LIFE!" on youtube] the battery will last for 2 days without any problem and you can still use the watch almost without any restrictions. For me, the settings is absolutly ok. If you connect the watch via bluetooth instead of wifi and turn on bluetooth tethering on your phone, you can still use internet and get all the notifications you need.
I love the fossil gen 5 and the true android OS will be the best decission for long term perspective.
