Stock android closing apps after some time - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I have nexus 5 and nexus 6p. I have an issue with nexus 6p. It's closing some of the apps automatically after sometime. Like in necuse 5 I can have more then a dozen apps running and switch between them. In nexus 6p after some time all except recent few are closed. I hate it how to make nexus 6p to not close until I close them.
Even Lenovo k6 note also doesn't closes apps itself after sometime.
Regards

Was not an issue with nexus 5 with similar apps.
The apps are photo gallery whatsap Facebook and YouTube mostly. The remaining apps count is always consistent it will kill all except recent 4 or 5.
I have two nexus 6p and both suffer same problem.
Is there any setting to kill all apps atha just leave recent 4 or 5?

Random reboots

Had the phone for just over 24 hours and have had two random reboots. Anyone else or is it just me?

Nop' Just you !
Perhaps it's something I've installed.

Lots of apps haven't updated for 4.2 yet...
And I trust you've installed the OTA update?
Yep, updated almost immediately.
If it keeps doing it I'll start uninstalling stuff.... I suspect something with an active widget, so HD Widgets or Astrid...

Don't have that problem here

Have had 3 reboots in 3 days twice while using Dolphin browser and once when using the mini info app.
My first was half way through a YouTube video, the second was just after loading tapatalk I think....

I think its the apps not being updated for 4.2 tbh. I got the launcher to FC on me with Friend caster not long after I posted.
I hope so, but I've not had a single random reboot on my N7. Plenty of FCs mind you!

I actually had a random reboot about 20 minutes ago. I have an HD Widget clock on my lockscreen. I think mine happened while using Tapatalk though. Glad someone else experienced this. It was my only one so far though but I've had the phone <24 hours
I might try taking my HD Widgets off for a while.

Thread moved to Q & A section, post in the relevant section next time.

I'm using HD Widgets and have not had any force closes. I have one on my home screen and another on a lock screen. However, it does seem to be using a lot of battery (7% of usage).
Hmm.. I haven't had any reboots yet, working perfectly.

I had some random reboots. I think about 10 since friday...
Have had 2 random reboots. Once during Netflix testing 20 minutes into Breaking Bad and once when I turned on the phone and the screen was frozen for a few seconds.
I've had the phone since Thursday haven't had any random reebots

[Q] battery draining by chrome and hangout!

well recently i upgraded to android 4.3 by OTA and i have no problem just i notice a huge battery draining by hangout when I was using it and then it happened with google chrome.. they even had more battery usage than screen on even! is it happening for everyone or its just something for me?!
It is larger then the screen because you did not use the screen much.
Chrome is draining battery by using the sandbox process, you may force stop it.

Once I had lot of wake locks from hangout and plus, I just went to configurations and deselect the auto sync and then select again..
Battery drain stop after it.

[Q] Advanced Camera Options

On my nexus 4 I have the attached options.
On my girlfriend's nexus 4 she just has three options: scene options, store location and picture size.
I cannot figure out what I did on my phone so I could do the same on my girlfriends nexus 4. Any ideas?
thanks.
I have the latest aokp nightly, franco m3. She also has those flashed too.
What android version exactly?

All I managed to do is press and hold both of the volume keys and then let go to burst shoot 2 pictures since any of the volume keys are triggers.
What have you done before discovering this?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 4
It's 4.2.2.
I upgraded aokp but then again I did on my gfs phone and didn't see it on here

GAPPS unofficial flashes and AOKP. But i do them on both devices.
I use a certain unofficial gapps package by BANKs of the theme section but I have flashed on both phones. Only mine has it. I also backed up the camera and data with titanium. This leads me to believe i'm missing some setting or something.
Just wanted to add. I tried to backup the camera app and data from my nexus 4 with titanium and then restore it on the other nexus 4 to no avail. Does anyone know what else I would need to backup and restore to transfer over the camera settings in the main post?
thanks.

Did you try backing up Gallery to see if it works?, Gallery has a linked activity which is camera.

Were both phones bought together? or one is newer and one is older? I saw same thing when I installed same gapps file on s2 and it came with tonnes option in camera app but nothing on my nexus 4 app. I think older nexus 4's camera hardware doesn't support those software features may be?

I should be supported since the SGS3 does support it while the Nexus 4 is newer hardware and software wise.

I have a white nexus 4 and hers is black. She bought hers a week after I did actually.
I also backed up gallery data and restored on hers and that didn't work either. Would suck if it's a hardware thing.

stock camera has those 3 options. custom roms like slimbean have modified cameras that have more options like ISO among other options.
That's the cyanogenmod camera (not focal). I'm a big fan of that one. It takes pictures much quicker than the stock camera. The only issue though is that flash doesn't work unless you manually tap to focus before taking the picture.
Oh thank you. Do you, or anyone, have the app package? I assume since its working on my aokp setup, that it's possible. Or what file to transfer over from my phone to my girlfriend's? Like I said, I tried the gallery and camera apps already.
I will say that I did cyanogen mod at one point but have factory set numerous times since then.

My fix horrible lag on nexus 7

Uninstall adblockplus, what a ramhog, night and day difference, I was actually considering getting n7 2013 because it was so slow, after uninstalling adblock plus everything is great, you also may want to use greenify and hibernate Google plus. My device is now usable

There is zero need to post this drivel multiple times.

Instagram killing your battery?!

Been noticing some high usage from instagram sometimes after using it. Seems Google knows about it. 4.4.3 coming? It states nexus 5 but says also on other devices.

greenify!
hey.
it's not instagram for me, but I think it's snapchat / camera (or camera permission in general)
When I look at App Ops X (an app for controlling permissions), I see that the camera app/snapchat app are running the camera always. In this app, it'll usually give a time at which a permission was accessed (e.g. 50 minutes ago) or it'll say "Running" to indicate it's using it currently.
For me, it's always been at "Running" status (the camera permission for snapchat/camera) even though I greenified snapchat.
I hope that this issue is related to the issue nexus 5 users are experiencing and that the 4.4.3 fix will apply to this as well..
Well judging by the article its the same issue. I don't use snap chat so I wouldnt know. But yeah definitely a pain.

Ever since around January, I had a battery issue where the battery capacity of my nexus 4 just dropped. I hope that this camera issue was the cause of that.
However, 4.4.2 was released on Dec 9 and I must have updated around then as well.. So there is an unexplained period gap from Dec 10 - Jan 2 of why my battery was functioning normally then..

I have it greenified since a few days ago and although it does work to some extent it doesn't work all the time. I saw it stayed on for 1hr even with greenify

Its linked to apps that use the camera not the camera itself

Happened to me as well. Finally found the culprit (Instagram). Uninstalled. No more battery drain, camera daemon bug and can't connect to camera errors.

If you have root access, I'd suggest Dow loading Greenify from the Play Store. It hibernates the apps so that it doesn't use as much battery life.

You should try SD Maid app from Play Store and freeze Instagram unless you use it, and don't have to uninstall it. Or just simply kill the process from SD Maid.
