I am having this issue when calls get to the 8 minute mark I loose signal and the call disconnects then I get the signal back in 15 seconds. this tends to happen in every 2 out of 3 calls and in between the 8 to 10 min mark. any body else having similar issues.
I have the following upgrades
tmobile rom 2.17
agile messenger
smartskey
omapclock
gprs alwas connect tweak
Same problem experienced !
Is that a BUG ??...
I have started having this problem as well, but did not notice if the occurrances are at the 8 minute mark.
I assumed it was the Cingular network. Maybe not???
i had the same problem, however since i upgraded my rom the problem seems to have resolved itself (i dont regularly make 8min+ calls though so cant guarantee this will fix the problem)
are u guys using direct push. i am thinking it is when the data part of the radio tries to download while during the call. it causes it to crash. if i turn off direct push i no longer have the problem. how about u guys.

I don't have this problem but I have a thought that it might be due to heat. Do you have the screen on while making the call? I always turn mine off as I hit the send key.
As I say its just a thought, but the heat from your face added to the the device plus the display on may be over heating it causing it to cut out?
I had this problem after upgrading to the first AKU2.2 ROM that summiter put out.
After upgrading to the most recent version (the one he's calling the BETA), the problem has resolved itself.
this is getting to be a persistent and irritating problem . I have uninstalled all third party software but problem continues . my screen turns off at 30 sec so that should be ok. I will try to upgrade or degrade the rom. also switching of push sounds like a good idea but I was hopping the phone would be smart enough to do that on its own I like push.
Ignore my previous message - the newest beta from Summiter is even worse.
I'm going back to 2.17
When I saw this post, I at least felt that I was not losing my mind. I have had the 8 - 10 minute disconnect/drop for a couple of months. Luckily, most of the folks on the other end thought it was their phone. Now I'm a bit concerned since it appears others are experiencing the same issue. I am also on the 2.17.7.2 ROM version, and have the EDGE service pulling all the time.
grinny11 might be on to it. The autd heartbeat timeout for direct push is 8 minutes IIRC. Anybody not using direct push having this issue? Those who do: does turning off direct push before a long call correct this?
I haven't noticed the issue, but I'm rarely (if ever) on my cellphone > 8 minutes.
i have resolved my problem. Agile was the culprit. it was able to connect to the edge network even when a call was in process leading to a disconnect. now i just stop agile before making a call.
i really wish they would resolve this issue. i downgraded the radio rom once to 1.8 and i had less problems with dropped calls but still had a few. hopefully they will figure it out.
just realized that I have the same problem. Official Vodafone Germany 2.21 ROM, lotsa Software installed. though I don't know if it's 8min when it drops. What I noticed: I've been sitting in an area with 4 bars reception, had the call, then the call dropped with a silent "krk", and when I looked at the phone I had zero reception, the blinking LED was off also. After a few secs the LED would start to blink again, and reception went up to 4 bars again.
Very weird...
Lars
Another one with the same problem!
I have started having the problem after overclocking my phone, so maybe this could be the cause?
I have no Agile, nor any GPRS active at any time.
What about the others who have the problem?
Have you overclocked your phone?
Recently i have started using 4smarthone push service. This happens with me too, though i am not sure of the time mark. But isnt there any other way where we can set the Wizard NOT to connect to EDGE while a call is in progress? While turning off these sevices is ok before making acall, but what happens when we receive a call?
Peace
Same Problem
I lose all service when it happens, so for me it is not trying to dial out, just ... for service.
Hi
I can tell that the phone is using wireless due to the speed. Its just a little annoying.
Anyone else have this issue?
Masters stock 2.3.3 deodexed (rooted) with Netarchy 1.2.7 cfs @ 1.2
the same thing it show before and after i root my NS
same here.
with 2.3.1 and now 2.3.3
Yeah it's happened to me. Just toggle WiFi off then toggle it back on.
Haven't had that problem. You should try flashing again. I just heard of that problem in 2.3.2

Its my understanding that this is as a result of an app which needs to use wireless data specifically from a mobile network so it momentarily turns the mobile data radio on and then turns it off when its done.
i have only google apps and the 3G was on and the wifi in the same time ....
I think this is the issue:

T
and I have another thing! when i want to start mobile data it just won't start. to solve it I have to reboot my phone!
anybody else getting this?
Nexus S, 2.3.3, gri40, Vodafone Romania!
Sometimes turning on airplane mode and then turning it off again starts the mobile data for me. Give that a shot Bikers.
Are you guys receiving an mms at the same time? On WiFi when receiving a pic message the phone is forced to use 3g data to connect to the carrier server over 3g only to receive the pic. This is the Only time I've ever seen WiFi and 3g at the same time.
This usually happens to me when my wifi is out of range

Up until yesterday I was running 2.3.2 with the XXKB3 radio. I updated to 2.3.3 and got the XXKB1 radio. As soon as I connected to wifi, I started to experience this problem with 3g and wifi showing at the same time. So, I decided to re-upgrade to.the XXKB3 radio and I no longer have the problem.
The instructions on how to upgrade your radio are in the development section. Its definitely worth a shot. Yesterday I was not only losing wifi, but my 3g was going out also and I had to reboot my phone to get my 3g working. That doesn't work for me.

how long do both icons display together? is it only for a few seconds, or do they stay on indefinitely? if only a few seconds, it could be a wifi bug where its disconnecting then reconnecting in the span of a few seconds, so in between the 3G kicks in only to turn back off when wifi reconnects.

It is sporadic. Sometimes it comes on every 30 seconds or so then turns off. Other times, it is on indefinitely..
I read some where that having "supl" in your APN settings under APN Type might be doing it. maybe check that?
hi, sometimes when i look at my phone, usually after being on wifi the phone shows no bars.
sometimes it comes back on in a min, i tried airplane mode but it wouldnt work. so i restarted it and worked fine.
not sure why it happens, does anyone else have this? could it be due to some Wifi calling setting? not sure why phone seems to just cut off.
anyone have any idea why this may be happening?
does it turn off radio for wifi calling somehow or? just random.
I have a similar issue, but not equal. Sometimes, when I try to connect to the network I always do (home), it simply doesn't work. Scanning - disconnected - scanning - disconnect. Only a phone reset fixes this.
Sheep ROM 2.0
AbyssNote Kernel 2.5
I had a similar issue a while ago and sent Mine back to the seller but the seller claimed neither they nor Samsung could find a problem with the phone. Thankfully The seller sent me a replacement which no longer gives me this problem so it may be the handset, though it could also be the setting/Conflicting app. Someone reported here his problem Was solved after adjusting a w ifi regulating app
i have a 3-day old gnote and i started noticing this problem after i have my phone rooted. the wifi icon stays on but there's no internet connection. turning the screen off and waking the phone after a minute solves the problem but its annoying to be losing connection when you're needing it. i'm on stock KKA.

Not a user error so need to contact Samsung-don't think is anyway
I have a somewhat similar problem. When I am using wifi for somewhat long time, I am unable to connect back to my 3g. Or if I was on 3g connection and I move out of coverage area for a little more than 10 minutes, I can't reconnect to 3g. Only 3g connection has this problem though, everything else works fine.
If I restart the phone, I can reconnect. Setting to airplane mode and resetting doesn't help. Neither does resetting the mobile network operators.
Yes, the problem seems to be software related since there is no actual problem with receiving 3g/phone.
yesterday i drove back 10 hrs and streamed music/radio the entire way with only a few tiny interruptions in reception.
but often still if i just take my phone out of my pocket, the "phone" part will be off and usually turn back on within 1-2 mins.
but this is quite annoying since sometimes il literally be waiting for 1-2 mins to place a call.
my phone is "not" rooted.
Hi everyone,
I got my Nexus 10 a week and a half ago, and, for the most part, have been loving it. However, I've been having some annoying wifi issues. Every once in a while, the connection will go from 3-4 bars to no bars (but still connected) or disconnected completely. Sometimes this happens over and over in a short period of time (10-20 minutes), and sometimes it happens once and doesn't come back for a while. This happens on both my home's wifi and my university's wifi. I've been looking around the forums, and it seems like some other people are having similar issues. My question is: has it been determined whether this is a hardware or software issue? Should I RMA the device (I have a couple days left to do this)? Thanks!
Edit: I've also been running into problems with streaming video from YouTube and Netflix. It'll load the video fine for the first 5-10 minutes, but then it will stop to buffer every 5-10 seconds (in the YouTube app) or become low-resolution and pixelated (in Netflix). This also occurs on both my home and university WiFi, and both have download speeds of 15-20 Mbps. I've tried clearing the cache for both apps, which does nothing.

I'd say they are software, since I have more coverage of the wifi and I didnd't see any lose of signal, however on 4.2.1 I was losing the signal every 2 min or less.

Are you on 4.2.2 now? Do the WiFi drops persist after the update from 4.2.1?

Yeah, I'm on 4.2.2 as well, and I still have all sorts of WiFi problems. I'd like to get a little more info on this. Does anyone else still have WiFi dropouts on 4.2.2? And does anyone have any insight on the video streaming issues? It might just be due to my fluctuating WiFi connection, but I'm wondering if it is a separate issue.

I'm on 4.2.2 and my WiFi issues just started. It's driving me so crazy that I wiped and went to an older Rom with no luck. Hoping it might be my router so gonna try and test on another unit next.
I used to have wifi drops, and there is a couple large threads here already on this issue. But I managed to fix my wifi stability by changing router settings. I had the same thing of complete drops where the wifi disconnects completely every so often. It would happen at random, sometimes every 20-30 seconds, sometimes every couple minutes, other times 10-15 minutes between drops, a few times 3-4 hours between a dropout. It happens on other Android devices I own too though, so it isnt exactly a problem with the Nexus 10 exclusively. it took a LOT of work to finally find the settings that work, but I finally did it and now all Android devices I own are perfectly fine on wifi.

To be honest noone should have to change router settings, I have 3 Android phones, nexus 7, laptop and Xbox 360 connected all at the same time and still the only thing to lose a signal is this 10 inch slab. It's ridiculous.
Considering selling it already after 3 weeks.

Hi,
I have the A2017G with the latest official B06 rom installed on it. I get random signal drops (4g and cellular are completely off then, it s like plain mode) every 30 minutes or so. It automatically goes back on after 15 seconds or so.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?
