Hello!
Is it possible to reduce the minimum brightness of a Huawei P9 Lite below the minimum value, set from the system?
At night and early morning the screen is too bright and really hurt my eyes! I remember I reduced the value using Gravitybox on my old Moto G, but couldn't run on this phone because of EMUI I think.
Do you have any solution?
Kind regards

Thanks, but this app uses a screen filter.
Isn't it possible to reduce the minimum value of the system brightness? (so that I don't need any auxiliary app, but it just works with the brightness slider)

Even if it were possible (it isn't AFAIK), it won't solve your problem. System use 3-255 as the brightness scale (3 = minimum) . If the value is set to 0 or 1 ,the display turns off. So you only have the option to set 2 - logically there is a slight difference between level 2 and level 3, IMO it wouldn't help you. That's why I recommended linked app.

Hi all,
I found that the default auto brightness setting always render the screen darker than my favourite. For certain I want to keep the adaptive approach (i.e. the screen brightness will change according to my physical enviornment), however I would like to fine tune it such that it will always return a +1 / +2 brightness on top of the default return. Do anyone know any apps / tricks can I do so?
p.s. I know I can place an widget to manual adjust the brightness, but I am now looking for a way to fine tune the automated value.
Thanks all!

Did you ever solve this. Posted numerous times about a similar issue but never really found a proper solution.
You can use Tasker. Set up profiles for depending how much the light sensor sees, you can have the brightness exactly how you want. Note: You need to disable auto brightness for this to work.
Is there a way to decrease the minimum back-light level on a CM7 ROM?
I always prefer to keep back-light level as low as possible and not using automatic setting for it.
Recently I've tried one of the MIUI roms and noticed that the lowest back-light level on it is way dimmer that on CM7 ROMs. It allowed me to noticeably save on battery.
So is there any way to do it on CM7 based ROMs?

Tried and tested with typhoon rom. After usind this lib the cm7 autobacklight level should woork correctly..but therefore some LED Notification will behave a bit strange...you will be able to life with that. (=

not 100% as I use a CM mod (AMA), but check Settings / CM Settings / Display/ Automatic Brightness / Edit Other Levels

OK. I've tried it and saw absolutely no difference in minimum backlight level.
When I move the backlight level slider all the way down it is still on the same level
as with older libs. And it did break notification lights.
As I've mentioned before I am not using autobacklight at all. I just want to have manual backlight level go much lower.
There is a free app in the Android Market that will do just what you want. It's called Screen Filter. Using this app, you can set your backlight level very low, and even put a widget pre-set to your preferred brightness level on one of your homescreens.

This app is a fake. It does not decrease backlight level, but instead dims lcd pixels, which is not the same. Hence no power saving benefits. It would only help with OLED screens.

Did you replace lights libs to make it to work?

that's how it comes with AMA, which is based on CM7.1, so it could be part of the original CM (have no way to check as I don't use NAND builds)

Ah..I see. That is SD build.
OK. Looks like CM7 autobacklight works if I replace lights libs now (loosing LED blinking though). I guess I'll try it out and see how it turns out.
Thank you all.
One thing I've noticed that backlight level number is not very granular.
As there is no difference if I have it set to 1, 5, 10, 15 or 20. It only changes at 25

it might depend on the brightness ranges/thresholds - I've noticed in my build that if first two ranges are set as 0-100 and 100-200, the first one is ignored if upper limit is below 225, so I always get the screen brightness of the second range
I was looking for a dimmer lowest setting for the back light & tried Screen Filter BUT found it left the "black screen" well lit but everything else faded, almost like the colours were merging to gray rather than being dimmer.
Anyway, my need was for the clock display to be dim but found the Clock app's day/night mode button takes the clock display brightness right down low; lower than the manual screen brightness setting for sure... but only in the clock.
Hopefully any other noobs to Cyanogen / non-Sense ROMs may find this relevant! ;.)
Anyone know to change browser brightness ??? I already set maximum brightness on setting but the White background is so dim... I got headache and dizzy after a few minutes of using which i don know why ( never got this when using my iphone 4s with maximum brightness )
You can't change the browser (Chrome) brightness independently of the system brightness. Not sure about 3rd party browsers as I don't use them. If you turn off auto brightness in settings and set it to full, that is the brightest it will get.
I've just set my brightness to high and the white is VERY bright, maybe you have a faulty display?

No my screen is not Yellow, the colours aren't as vibrant as my Galaxy S3, but I'm getting used to it, I use CM10.1 and CM kernel.

If you use a custom kernel you can customize the colors to your liking. Use Trickster Mod to change colors as an free alternative.
I saw a thread in Samsung division that ro.lcd min_brightness parameter in build.prop under path /system/ can be use to customize the minimal brightness.
However I can not find the same parameter in N4 so that I would like to know if we can customize the minimal, maximal, half brightness by our own and how?
Or is there any Mod available for this purpose. Thanks.
If you want to drop the brightness level for battery savings, I can't help you. But if you just want to read in the dark more comfortably, try the Screen Filter app.

In CM10 you have an option to change the brightness level manually at each lux level interval. It's a great feature to have as I find that as standard the brightness levels on all ROM's I've tried are set too high. With this method you can still have the brightness level adjust automatically but to your own levels rather than the predefined ones.

Get the app Lux. You can change the minimum and maximum range of your backlight. Lots of other customizations as well.
Hi, I want to know if anyone has a mod or a guide how to maximized the highest manual brightness above the limit.
Auto brightness with direct sun-light accomplishes to make the screen a lot brighter than the maximum manual brightness.
I read on the internet that there is some build.prop modifications that increase the brightness but no luck of finding specific guide how to do that.
Thanks in advance!

Hardly, I need to make the manual birghtness to increase above the limit of samsung. The screen is a lot brighter on auto-brightness when there are sunlight on the screen and I want that 100% brightness will be that value and not a darker one.
If it helps there is a file that called "actual_brightness" on "\sys\class\backlight\panel":
If I'm at maximum manual brightness the value on this file is 300,
If I'm at auto-brightness (+5) with strong light on the sensor, the value increase up to 400.
I want this too.
