I am not sure if the Lg Leon is locked or unlocked and don't have good references to check on youtube or forums.
I used to root and mod my android phones easily years ago, but sadly switched to an iphone :crying:
I'm trying to mod my phone by flashing the cyanogenmod 12.1
my phone is already rooted.
I need some help and guidance ASAP.
What software version are you running? Do you have TWRP or a custom recovery already installed?
Hello.
I tried rooting my lg leon using python, but i keep getting errors and i got too many headaches trying to make it work.
If somebody who had managed to root their leons on 6.0, i request a twrp backup of your system+system image.
Thank you.
(If i get it, i will do a very optimized rom for leon, as long as i get the TWRP backup. I don't need nothing else, just the system and system image. Thank you very much)
I managed to root the lg leon on android 6.0
Thank you very much for "helping" me :T
Man can you guide me too on how to root lg leon(h340n)????i'm very new to this forum so if you can help me that will be appreciated...

Hello everyone
Yesterday I got a steal deal for a brand new lgv20 in just 100$ but it's Puerto Rico model H910PR "CLARO" and it's stuck on December 2016 Update Android 7.0.
I tried to Ota update but it shows device is already on latest update.
Then I tried LG Bridge and it shows also same device is on latest OS.
I SAW MANY POSTS THAT ANDROID OREO IS OUT FOR V20 FOR A WHILE BUT COULDN'T FIND THE OREO KDZ ANYWHERE.
PLEASE SOMEONE SHOW ME SOMETHING HERE I AM GETTING FRUSTRATED. :crying:
Hello, I have the same phone, there is no Oreo update for us (in fact there's no update at all) unless you're willing to root.
if you're willing to root then just keep a dump of your partitions then root it using H910 root method and flash Oreo H910.
Any H910 rom works perfectly on our phone.

You mentioned H910 oreo works perfectly on 910pr so my question is all the radios works ?
I mean wifi/sim card/gps/mobile data everything works?
If everything works perfectly i would love to try it ASAP .
Are you running oreo N910 on your N910pr currently and which method you use to root ?
Do i have to flash N910 KDZ on my N910PR or i have to flash Custom rom from Twrp ?
Sorry for many questions i asked i just want to. Make sure before going any further.

Everything works fine, if it somehow doesn't, just flash your Modem, Modemst1 and Modemst2 from your partition dump and everything will work again, that's why you always keep backup.
I used this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/root-h910-v10m-t3664500 root method
Then I flashed Alpha ROM Oreo H910 (a debloated version of the stock rom) through TWRP.

Thank you for your support
Please i want to clarify something .
I am reading many posts in xda and reddit that some users successfully converted from H910 to H915 or unlocked VS995 or VS996 i am not sure which 1 is fully compatible with H910.
I just want to know can i flash stock kdz H915 or whatever to my H910 directly from LGUP or i have to root and flash via twrp?
Also I've been reading that flashing via official LGUP won't work because model difference so i have to use LGUP PATCHED VERSION.
TIA

The H910 - H915 and US996 are essentially all the same device
The H910 cannot be unlocked with the stock bootloader
The H915 will allow you to flash a Engineering bootloader that is unlocked
The US996 can be unlocked through LG
I really don't recommend cross flashing except to install the unlocked bootloader
this is done with Patched LGUP
all the instructions are in the root thread I posted above
It has come to my attention that the H873 is not (yet) rootable, and may never receive a root. Though that is a bummer, while looking for possible ways to root, I have read many forum-posts relating to the conversion of a H872 device to a H873, in order to receive the Android 9 update. So, is the vice-versa possible? Can I change my H873 to the H872, and root it from there? Any answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
No. You will brick your device.

Thanks for the reply. Soft brick, or Hard brick? Has it been confirmed that bricking will occur? If so, then how did people swap from H872 to H873, all without bricking their phone, and without the need for root?
Hard. People can change H872 to H873 and install Android 9 on it is because they're still installing an official OS on their phones.
Rooting and installing Custom ROM requires an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery.
Installing a custom Recovery over a locked bootloader can cause a hard brick.

Don't get me wrong. I mean to flash the official stock Firmware of the H872 onto my H873, so, there is no rooting/custom recovery/custom ROM required. I have already rolled back to Android 7 for the H873, so I know how to use LG UP and things of the like.
What is it that you want to do? If you don't want to root, why bother flashing 872 firmware to your 873? Do you not already have the latest update on H873?
I'll say this once again, flashing H872 onto H873 will not get you root. If your plan is to convert your H873 to H872 and then root it, it will still fail. Because you need an unlocked bootloader to root.
The only two devices to get unlocked bootloader are H870 (EU) and H872 (T-Mobile).

Aren't there unofficial ways to unlock the H872? And even if there aren't, if I were to convert to the H872, will that not allow me to unlock via the official website? Also, i don't really care which model I convert to, so long as it works. I am willing to convert to H870, or the US997; It does not matter.

The "official" method won't work because even if you flash H870/US997 firmware to your H873 you still can't unlock your device as the "unlocked code" required to unlock BL is tied to your device ID and IMEI, you changing your firmware will not change that.
Same with H872. The H872 can be unlocked because T-Mobile does not lock their bootloader, you changing the firmware of your H873 to H872 will not allow you to unlock. And very likely you'll end up with a hard brick from which you can't recover.
If you still want to be experimental, go ahead.

Thanks. I'll ask around on more forums, and see if I can do something. Worse case scenario, I either wait for an unofficial root to be released, or just try swapping for a H872. Again, thanks for the help.
There won't be "official" or even "unofficial" unlock for the phone. The bootloader is locked by the carrier and therefore there won't be any official unlock, and the phone is old and the development scene for this phone isn't as impressive and this is why there won't be any unofficial unlock method.
Your best bet is swapping your model with H870/H872/US977

There is hope! 6 days ago, somebody was asking a question for the H873. It seems that they're trying to form a root. In addition to that, not too long ago, there was an app that gave root access. I'm not sure if it's permanent, though, and, apparently, since it's not done, it gives all apps root access, instead of the ones that you grant root access to. I don't think this scene is dead, given those two forums. Guess we'll just have to keep our chins up.

I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I remember following a guide off of XDA, so, it should be around here somewhere. Also, if you haven't already, I'd recommend factory resetting after an upgrade/downgrade. My phone used to lag as well, but, after factory-resetting, it works like a charm. I wish you luck on your venture. Make sure to use the correct firmware! Apparently, it'll brick the device if you flash a different model's firmware.
