Fastest MicroSD Card? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Accessories

I need a 512gb MicroSD card. What's the fastest?

I'm using this one. Works well.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/accessories/memory-upgrade-time-t4155549
There are V60 cards but they're more expensive and not sure the 10+ would fully support the throughput.
Sandisk and Samsung make those two.
I like Lexar, used them for 15 years with no failures.

I'm using this Sandisk Extreme Its U3, V30, A2. Seems to work well.... https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FCQRN9K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Previously I was also using a Samsung EVO Select 256GB. While labled U3, its not marked V30 or A anything... But it was still fine for 4K video recording.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0887P21Z2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am using this. I have always used this brand
"Strontium Nitro A1 256GB Micro SDXC Memory Card 100MB/s A1 UHS-I U3 Class 10 with High Speed Adapter for Smartphones Tablets Drones Action Cams (SRN256GTFU3A1A)"

Still not sure what the max internal transfer bandwidth is.
Not speced out anywhere I can find.
I'm seeing about 1.5-2 gb @minute internal transfer rates.
My music 220 gb db is on the SD card... runs flawlessly.

MicroSD Cards: Speeds?

I was told when I bought my phone that the Legend is optimized to work with up to 32GB MicroSD, but the transfer rate of data and general data speeds are at peak with certain capacity MicroSD cards. Has anyone else heard this or similar?
It just depends on what class you get, which will improve transfer rates, for example I have a class 6 8GB in mine now and it flies. btw the higher the class the better (the class is displayed with a circle around it on the card.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
That's not completely true.
The card's class isn't it's real speed, but the guaranteed one (in read AND write).
I remember having seen a test about µSD cards which shown that Sandisk are one of the best brands.
I bought a Sandisk 8GB "Ultra" micro SD for 20 bucks, and even though it's only class 2, it can go up to 20MB/s read and 7-8MB/s write (in case of large files of course).

microSD 32Gb class 6 and Galaxy S

I am thinking about purchasing a 32Gb microSD for use with my galaxy S.
My concern is that, is this too large? Are there any bad side effect like it being too slow to display picture/start up scann/run applications?
Which brand? That's probably more important for the speed than class (a class 2 Sandisk is often as fast or faster than a class 6 from a lesser brand).
The capacity of the card shouldn't affect the speed during most situations. However the phone does scan for media each time it is turned on or after disconnecting from USB connection (Kies or mass storage), the amount of time this takes depends on:
-the amount of media stored on the card and
-(probably) the read speed of the card.
Note that class rating is minimum write speed - so it's not a great indicator of real-life performance.
Also note that some too-cheap-to-be-true cards are actually smaller capacity cards that report larger capacities to fool the customer.
BTW where are you getting the card from (I want one as well ).
Hi flamingpitofhell,
I am looking at Sandisk as well and most likely get it from their online store. I am trying to find more information whether it is worth the trouble.
I don't think Sandisk sell class 6 cards (yet). Buying from their online store's also more expensive than online retailers (I can get one in Australia for AUD155, which is ~USD137, cf their RRP of USD200).
thanks for the pointer. will look around for local stores here in Thailand.
Which city in Australia are you in? I studied in Perth more than a decaded back.
I'm in glorious Melbourne mate, haven't been to Perth yet
the only LEGIT 32GB Sandisk available right now in the market is only Class 2
if you read anything else, it is FAKE, specially from eBay
wait until the other microSD manufactures start pushing out 32GB on class 4 or class 6 before buying.
i'm using 2x 16GB Class 6 until the 32GB class 6 becomes available.
I'm using Class 2 32GB card in mine, its fine.
Its slower when you're transferring to the card from your PC, but for most people thats only particularly problematic the first time (loading music collection), after that you'll not really notice a difference in the phone (the read speeds are basically the same, and the phone can neither read nor write to the card faster than a Class 2 card can cope with). You can see it in the benchmarks taken post-mimocans fix - Class 2 cards are no slower than any other Class within the phone.
Grab one now and be happy.

Where did you get yours from and how much for. I`m interested in getting one myself.
Thanks
my local stores already carry the real Sandisk 32GB class 2
too slow for my taste, i like to run Apps from the SD card, also use it as a SWAP partidion to prevent the LAG problem people complains about, it's a very easy fix
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724251
i wonder what would be better a 16gb class 6 or 32gb class 2...
is it worth sacrifising double of the memory for the speed?

it depends what you are trying to do
if it's just to listen to mp3, then Class 2 is fine
if you want to run games, software, watch movies, use it for SWAP drive to have no lag, then minimum a Class 6
Class ratings don't really seem to have too much of an effect on real world performance: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1468705. Just discount the last result from the SGS (it's most likely mistaken for the internal SD).
i rather trust my experience coming from PalmOS + WinMb where real life situations using a class 4 or slower cards, made a huge word of difference when launching applications from SD and watching movies from SD
funny enough the numbers reported on that topic shows SGS i9000 to have the fastest speed even using the same card that got lower speed on the other phones.
which seems to point out it's directly proportional to the CPU speed, and the multitasking software running in the back end.
however as you see on those test itself, there are speed differences between class 2, class 4 and class 6
the same class # can not be compared to another class # of a different size,
if you imagine a hard drive, the bigger the hard drive the more layers/disk area it has to read, the same is true even for static SD cards.
however as pointed on those test Transcend usually has the fastest SD cards in the market, that's why i always buy that brand for performance, using a 16GB Transcend myself, waiting for the 32 GB class 6+ to come out
Adata has 2 lines, the performance line, and the standard line
if you want speed get the performance SD cards
Kingston and Sandisk are mostly standard speed, they don't release much performance level SD cards anymore, but they do have lots of those on USB sticks.
I tried my Brothers Sandisk Class 2 32GB and it worked perfectly.
Granted it's not as fast as my Sandisk Mobile Ultra Class 4 but that card flies anyway.
Certainly for recording your large movie files taken with the camera it's no different in speed than using the built in SDCard on the phone.
I have no problems watching 720P video on my phone. I have no problems launching applications either.
So much misinformation...
of course there is no problem, the issue here is getting the top performance, any SD card will work just fine.
it's just a matter of how fast/slow are you able to torelate
The only time you will notice any difference in speed is when transferring data to and from the card.
However, when you have double the space of other cards to consider speed should not be a deciding factor.
I'm already looking to get the Sandisk Class 2 32GB card. It will store all of my work files normally kept on my Laptop.
My Sandisk Class 4 Mobile Ultra 16GB will be my spare ~ should the larger card fail...
Thanks for the information s everyone.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I have the 32GB sandisk card and works perfect. I have a 720p mkv file and my music on there. Playback was superb for the video with no noticeable lag. Mind you the card isn't anywhere near full yet. From my limited knowledge of sd cards, they put data on the fastest part first so the fuller it gets the slower the card is likely to get..
My plan is to put movies and songs on the 32GB file and reserve the internal 13GB for capturing video and taking pictures on the phone.

Which MicroSD Card for my "not yet here" but soon S7 Edge?

I've read that with Samsung Phones, Samsung SD cards work perfectly with.
but which one? Samsung Pro Plus or Evo Plus? is there any limitations on what SD card I can put on the s7?
Evo Plus has Read: 80MB/s Write: 20MB/s
Pro Plus has Read: 95MB/s Write: 90MB/s
Price doesnt matter.
thanks
I just bought a pny elite performance card from pcworld. £39.99 tested at 68MB/s read 52MB/s write in the s7. Will do for now!
Samsung Pro Plus is one of the fastest card out. Last week Samsung had the 64GB for $35. I'm waiting on for that price. No rush for me to get one.
Samsung Pro Plus or you can get the 128GB Lexar 1800x that has fast UHS-I speed like the Samsung yet also has support for UHS-II for *much faster* speed when using the card with external USB3 for transferring files. Am using the Lexar 1800x INSIDE the phone and transferred many GBs of files fast. Naturally if I used the card outside the phone environment (read: in the USB 3.0 adapter) it would have been about 2x to 3x faster. The Lexar 1800x is the fastest card out there right now, will handle the next gen when phone support UHS-II, and... if you're like me and have the need for speed
They also make a 64GB version.

A site says, "The Lexar 1800x microSD card was tested in several UHS-I and UHS-II card readers. In UHS-II card readers the 1800x microSD card reached 272.3 MB/s sequential read speed, just passing its 270MB/s quoted read speed. Sequential write speed measured 222.2 MB/s, slightly less than the 245 MB/s rating. In UHS-I card readers, the 1800x card reverted to UHS-I mode and was limited to 96.5 MB/s read and 77.5 MB/s write speeds. Still fast, but not quite as fast as the fastest UHS-I microSD cards." Have not tested it in the phone yet it seems very fast.
Here's another site review diff than the one above http://www.realhardwarereviews.com/lexar1800x/7/

PS: If you never see yourself using UHS-II and just keeping the card in the phone then the Samsung card is probably best bang for buck. I move some big files around (pro video and pro audio both in pure lossless) so being able to use the card via USB 3.0 makes life easier plus the next gen of phones might support UHS-II and thus I can keep the existing data on card and not have to data migrate.

I actually want to know what kind of speed the S7 gets with this card in it. From some other post I read someone was saying the reader in the S7 is not that great.
I did a test and it was around 70 read and 60 write. Seems the bottleneck might be the phone as saw another test with the SanDisk Extreme Pro on XDA and it was about the same speeds. Keep in mind that, for me, Lexar 1800x will also be used outside the phone environment so the UHS-II will be very useful. YMMV.
What happens when you insert an 256GB Sd
Officially Samsung says we can expand upto 200GB of external storage but unless Samsung intends to make 200GB Sd card, there aren't any of those kinds in the market. i want to take full advantage of the expandable memory but 126Gb won't be enough so your opinions would help greatly. Can pop in a 256Gb Sd card
So I went and bought the Samsung Pro Plus 32GB. hopefully comes here before my S7 Edge
Good choice of card. I have always used Samsung cards with no problems. Got my Edge yesterday. I've had a bunch of phones, including the latest Iphones and this tops them all easily. Enjoy.
This is all being discussed over in the accessories forum, we should probably continue the discussion over there...

External SD card painfully slow speeds?

Hi All,
I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it's just to be expected. I have an S7 edge that I'm attempting to move apps to the SD card and they are just painfully slow, if they transfer at all. I'm using a Samsung Evo 128gb class 10 micro sd card. I've also tried a SanDisk 128gb Ultra class 10 card and it was really really slow. Is there some trick to speed this up? Am I using too beefy of a card? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
move the apps always has been slow even in class 10 sd cards, or at least thats what I remember.... but every other thing is just right

The speed of the external microsd card fully depends on the quality and the specs of the microsd card
itself. That's why some microsd cards are slow or super slow.
I have two 128GB microsd cards, one of them is Sandisk Extreme $80 model and it reads and writes
almost 5 times faster than my other off-brand $28 128GB microsdcard. Both microsd cards are class 10.
I am not talking about speed benchmarks, I am talking about real life transfer speeds under heavy usage..
I also have a 64GB off-brand $17 microsd card which is just as slow as my 128GB $28 off-brand microsd.
All 3 of my microsdcards were purchased at Amazon.com
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I have same problem here I have : https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00V62XBQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
And I go 13Mb/S Write and 60 MB/S Read
((((((
same here...
Just got my S7 and transferring speed from PC to external SD is extremely slow (I tried 64GB and 128GB sandisk class 10 which worked great on my last LG-G3...)
I also tried transferring from internal memory to external SD and it was still extremely slow..
Can it be HW problem (I can send it back for refund - but if it SW issue which can be fixed it would be a better)?

Xt1572 auto ejecting u3 SD card

I recently bought a Kingston micro SD card 32gb u3 with 90 read 80 write speed. After full formatting on pc and then formatting it with the phone as external storage It works fine for up to 20~30 minutes max before auto ejecting it self. The is no notification or anything from the phone. If I go to storage setting it just simply has vanished from the list. Once I tried transferring a 4gb file to the SD card to see if it will have any issue and halfway through the process the transfer meter stopped followed by a notification saying it is not recommended ejecting the SD card at this time and then completely ejecting it once more. I'm running full stock on September security patch. Any ideas? I returned it to the reseller and ordered a similar one incase this was faulty.

Kingston cards are not the most reputable, but this issue sounds more phone related then a defective card... Try an old school fix, but a layer or two of scotch tape on the back side of the card, slightly increasing the thickness of the card, might maintain contact better.

The thing is first I noticed upon inserting the SD card that it was slightly thicker than the casing so it required a little bit more force. I don't think though it's a thickness problem because a class 10 verbatim u1 card and a class 6 I use now didn't have any problem whatsoever. The new class 6 is an 8gb kingston and when inserted in the space it was moving around a bit, but after inserting it in the phone no problem. Is a SanDisk card recommended as an alternative?

I have a 2 year old 64GB EVO (non-plus) in my MXPE, works beautifully... My Moto G3 has a 32 EVO+, and my son's Axon 7 has a SanDisk Extreme something (black with red lettering) that is a couple years old as well. All of them work fine.
When people ask me what to get, I recommend the EVO+ for a budget card, or Samsung Pro+ for higher-end applications.

The reader in the MXPE is UHS-I, cards are rated in speed class (Class 10, U1, U3) and reader's SD bus speeds are UHS (UHS-I or UHS-II). I have never seen a benchmark for the card reader that is reliable but 70MB/s sustained writes with a proper card are regularly seen. UHS-I is limited to about 90MB/s write speed provided the card can handle it. But really 4K uncompress video only requires about 30MB/s. Although a UHS-II SD bus would be nice, a good U3 card is more than fast enough even at very high frame rates (4k with HD audio at 120 fps is about 60MB/s, depending on codec).
I have recorded 4k (2160p) video using the default camera app on occasion with my old EVO card, no issues with extended recording or frame drops.

Nice to know thanks for your time
So after receiving the new Kingston SD card same type u3 at first input on the phone it worked fine for about 3 hours or so . After this I changed user on the phone to do something and it had lost it . After a reboot the SD card was readable for about 4 minutes . After a second reboot and leaving the phone alone it didn't eject after an hour . Reformatted it as read on a forum that said to clean media and external storage data and reboot . Worked fine form an hour and ejected once more . Thing is I chose Kingston SD card because it is the fast with the best price . Should I just go with SanDisk or Samsung now?
Kingston cards are junk and have never worked well for me. Samsung and Sony cards have been flawless in multiple devices and multiple sizes. Also I have had good luck with Lexar cards currently have a Lexar 128gb in my Moto X pure
