It's probably a thing that MUST remain like the settings screen and quick tiles. There are parts that you must follow. This is one of them.
I really enjoy it and use the shortcuts many times a day.
Just because you think "it's broken" doesn't mean everyone else agrees with you.

Enjoy it? now there's three different processes steps just to get to restart. on Android 10 it's literally just hitting the power button to get to the full menu. yes, enjoy yourself.

What are you talking about? It's the exact same process turning off your phone as Android 10...
It's still the same, since it's how to original android 11 is.
I agree with you about how inconvenience is that, it adds extra steps to do things.
but, in the other hand it's also makes user easier if they have like cards stored in their phone so that they can easily access them, or maybe having a smart home also would be a lot easier to control.
I just wish that oos will have the option if the user want to use the old one or the new one.
also you said that oneplus could just easily change that if they want to, since the beginning oos is the "improved" version of the stock android and still have the same experience as the stock one
so they add a bunch of new features, NOT changing the stock feature so that the user would loosing the experienced of the stock one

It's the same but with extra step
since I always reboot my phone every day to refresh the phone, this change quiet give me some inconvenience
before you just hold the power button then press , now you have to touch the 3 dot menu tap the power option and choose the option
which the 3 dot menu is a bit far for my one hand operation, also I don't know how to do the advance reboot
don't get me wrong, at first I'm a bit skeptical about that but now I'm used to it and quiet liking it
It's till there..., and you wright! Is Bad. I don't like it one bit.
But , if you are root'ed like me i use Easy Reboot app.

Hello,
I'm receiving an app update through WP7 Marketplace to get an update for Samsung Diagnosis.
However, when I go to get the update from the Marketplace, it gives me the following message:
"Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while."
Anyone know why this is happening? Has anyone gotten this error yet?

Yep, same here. I also have a constant pending update for some Reversi program that's not actually on my phone because there's two in the marketplace with the same name. My guess in both instances is that Microsoft is still trying to get it right at their end since there's nothing I can do about either at my end. I'm not resetting my phone over this so I just ignore them.

I like it a lot and, after the usually painful transition, I haven't missed the iPhone 4 at all. I think this marketplace thing is probably the worse issue I've seen, which isn't bad, and it hasn't restarted by itself or anything since I bought it. In fact, I even have a Sandisk class 2 8GB card in it and it's worked without a hitch since taking it out of the box. I have about a week to return it but so far I've had no reason to do so.

Same here. My experiences have been the same as yours. But instead of going from iPhone 4, I went from iPhone 3GS. The only downside is there aren't must options when it comes to cases and such, but that's to be expected for a platform that hasn't taken off yet. The only problem I am having so far is getting used to the keyboard. Since it's weirder then the iPhone 4, I'm used to pressing the letters closer together and on the WP7, I tend to make more mistakes, but that's something I'll get used to.

LOL...guess that explains why it doesn't download. That's...let's see....8 times the monthly cap imposed by Comcast reidential. Good job, Microsoft!
Oh...I forgot to mention, that's one of three updates stuck in the marketplace for me now. It was Diagnosis and a Reversi app and now there's another Reversi app. This one actually downloaded and installed, then it never showed up in the list of installed apps and it shows up in the marketplace list every other time I start the app. "I assume Microsoft knows...." is starting to sound like a bad assumption. Guess I should call their teacher and ask that she keep them after class for their own good.

I was having the same issue until I realized I could slide my finger over the keyboard and release when the key I wanted was highlighted.
Did you know you can also hold your finger down for a moment, and you get a cursor, which you can then slide around to insert whereever you want, like the middle of a word. Makes editing easier.

I had used the ##634# to get into the Diagnosis menu. It now shows up as an App in my start menu. If I "Uninstall" it, will I lose access to it in the future? Will uninstalling it delete the application itself, or just the Start Menu Shortcut?
Is there another way to remove this shortcut without uninstalling?
Just removes shortcut

Uninstall just removes the icon, typing the code on the dial pad again brings the app/icon back.
Just tested on my own focus to confirm.
When I first started my tab4, there was notifications popping up all over that I was oking. One of them had something to do with the menu button being switched to a task manager instead of settings. Is there a way to get the settings back when you pressed the menu button? Thanks

Correction. Perfectly helpful answer. troy is correct. On stock rom recents long press
does as stated.

RTFP. OP asked how to switch back. Not for a band-aid solution. Xbutton allows OP to configure all buttons to the way they were before the eecent changes.

Which is the band-aid solution.
It adds an unecessary/additional layer to what should be handled by the in house functions of the stock rom.
Which can be corrected by a factory reset.

my initial response was to troy's post and your response.
troy presented an accurate piece of information in what he hope to be a helpful solution to the OP's
dilemma.
You're response was to dismiss an accurate piece of information and instead assert the supremacy of your
own preference. While your solution is equally helpful, the dismissal of the previous user's suggestion as if it
were incorrect has the affect of perpetutaing misinformation, not to mention the disrespectful treatment of the
user.
I assume by rtfp you mean to say read the ****ing post, if your continued representation of yourself via your previous posts
is accurate. This is your burden, good journey. I merely sought to correct an erronious assertion, however unintentional.

The long press option was offered. That is an alternative.
What aren't you getting? I had the same issue and corrected it.
Some are okay with the long press, not all. I am one who was not going to settle for that stupid ish. So i searched xda and the web and came up with xbutton. It allowed me to fully set everything up the way it was prior to the recent button bs.
Home: short press = HOME
long press = recents
Recent: short press = menu
Long press = google search/now
Back: left alone
I'm sure theres another to do this by editing a file. I 75% sure thats all xbutton is doing.
I get what you are saying but it is not the fix, it's the alternate forced on all of us.

On that point we agree. What would be nice is a standalone version of the pie menu. Without all the suspect googlalia.
I think it's my tendency to favor solutions that don't eat up any more of the limited ram on the mid range to low end devices.

First of all, need to thank the Chinese Huawei forum where I found this neat trick. Also if this has been posted here then sorry I did searched but nothing came up with this topic.
Anyhow the trick is to force the split screen functions where any incompatible app may prevent the split screen to open as it should.
First of all, need to go to setting-about phone. then touch the build number with your knuckle multiple times in a quick succession. This will activate the developer option.
Go back to the setting first page, and the developer option new tag should show up. Go into this tag and scroll down to the very bottom and enable the " Force activities to be resizable" then reboot phone. The Force split screen is good to go after reboot.

You don't get notifications at all?
Notification depends on how often one uses the certain app. The Chinese version is very aggressive in shutting down the app in the background. One app I get quite regular notification is the email app despite I use the same frequency with the others. One advantage I find for its behaviour is my battery is really efficient. I have times that the phone lasts me 3 full days with about 5 hours SOT between charges.

Hi.
I don't know if I'm in the right place because I'm in canada and have the 900w8 (with Wind/Freedom) but anyway, just bought my Note 3 recently and I see no Mobile Data shortcut on the Notification panel and it seems this was a common problem after some update and I couldn't find any fixes for this. Also, the phone has Android version 5, which I know isn't the latest version but looks like there will be no updates for us.
So, any way I can get the Data shortcut, or maybe the android 6 version? My phone is stock everything.
Thanks.

Best I can tell you is to flash with Odin stock 5.0, but other than that, I do not know how you could fix it. Or just root it and try a custom ROM if that is something so important to you.
Thanks again for the reply and the suggestions, man. Yeah I don't know why this is happening with the Note 3s but like I said this was a common problem after some update. I've never rooted or flashed any phone and I don't know if I want to do this. So, looks like I have to live with this inconvenience. It also looks like I won't be able to swipe down to access shortcuts unless I unlock the screen. On my Moto E (Android 6) I'm able to do that without having to unlock the screen. That's another inconvenience.

Is that the case? I am not on stock anymore, but I think I remember it was possible if I just had the lockscreen to "swipe".
But then again, it could be a difference between Android 5 and 6
Flashing is an intimidating task and requires a lot of research but not as much as you may think.
Anyway, I'm not going to grind on that suggestion. Best I can tell you now is, enjoy your Note 3 experience

hi for the last year or so i've been working on designing a custom environment for android, i just released a custom navigationbar app called arc lighting navigationbar on the playstore allthough it has been used and tested on galaxy devices such as the note 9 it works on any other phone too, this app will let you customize the navigationbar extensively, which includes changing each button back, home, recent apps to various icons both presets and icons from any iconpack, you can also place colored layers behind the icons, each color can also follow your wallpaper or app, you can customize it so much that you can turn it into a taskbar for desktop use meaning you can use any phone as a pc without a seperate environment such as samsung dex, the app is called arc lighting navigationbar, i couldn't possibly describe everything it can do so you'd have to test it i don't think theres anything you can think of that you can't do with when it comes to customization, whats left is the dockmenu for true desktop and mobile environment but the developer i am working with does not want to finish the work until this app gets traffic as i owe him too much money for the work he did.

honestly it means a lot when someone truly appreciates my work i have to go through a lot of 1 star ratings for really weird reasons such as too complicated or uses too many permissions so it's nice when someone actually appreciates it thank you, and yes it is difficult to figure out as i wanted customization per button rather than all 3 at once, i could have made it simpler and had one light control for all buttons at once but each button has it's own full set of settings icon, color, light indicator, movement, layer etc i don't find it complicated as i designed it but i understand if other people do.
I'm impressed. To be able to do that without root is awesome since this thing is in root limbo. As soon as I have 6 bucks I'll donate. I'm on an N9... Can't get the advanced option to work... Any thoughts?

well i am really sorry to say but the advanced option does not work on galaxy phones for some reason so the app has been made to block the advanced option to function, we tried to get it to work but it crashes the phones ui theres something with oneui so you'd need to use the mode that requires no root or software, the difference between advanced and simple is simply no transparency theres no other difference so you get all the same features as advanced but instead of modifying the navigationbar it will place one ontop of the old one i recommend doing this with gesture navigation enabled as then you get a very thin navigationbar as well as the gesture navigation, but i am so sorry for this i should have been more clear on that, made me sad considering you liked the app.
