I have successfully used fastboot to flash TWRP to my Tab S5e. Android 10 moved fastboot to userspace as fastbootd and if you have the right recovery it works on Samsung. I used Lineage recovery from local 17.1 build on my machine. Got curious about fastboot options in recovery and it works. Check this to better understand https://source.android.com/devices/bootloader/fastbootd Yep that is source.android link no joke. Device codename can be seen in screenshots.
Does this mean we can flash TWRP Recovery and then just root it with flashing Magisk via TWRP recovery? Thanks.

Sort of, if you already have LineageOS or another custom ROM that supports it. Stock samsung does not support fastbootd. AOSP based roms should have it as of android 10. It also requires the recovery be compatable. Lineage recovery provides access current TWRP did not. It is explained here https://source.android.com/devices/bootloader/fastbootd . It's a neat trick but not for initial root or custom recovery, still same as always you have to have it before you can get it. It does not replace Odin and the same steps are required as always to root or install twrp on stock Samsung. But once you have access it works to flash magisk_patched.img on LOS which can be good since Lineage 17.1 does not have official su support.

You say you unlocked the bootloader? Why not just flash the magisk 14.3 zip in a custom recovery? (TWRP?) That is what I would do, flash TWRP, and then flash magisk through that. To do this you are going to want to follow this tutorial http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-install-twrp-and-root-moto-x-pure-2015-xt1575/ and then once in TWRP click install -> magisk zip. Let me know if this is unlcear. But yeah install TWRP, and then flash magisk through that

I installed Magisk Manager and made a patched_boot.img but I get the error no devices/emulators found when trying to run adb commands from my laptop. I uninstalled and reinstalled the motorola driver software on my laptop. I'm just trying to go by the red letters straight off the magisk page in xda, so why doesn't it work? Must be me! LoL!
You don't need patched boot image.
Flash or boot only twrp 3.x(one version can backup stock recovery, I don't remember n°).
fastboot boot nameTwrp.img
Into twrp backup all: boot, system, data(?), recovery, esp.
Important: after backup restore boot.
Flash magisk14.zip(link is in my signature).
Reboot. @jim1sn1
I have blu_spark TWRP and working root on my international 6T. I would like to upgrade the recovery to the official TWRP now, as file decryption is working now in the official.
Is this the correct process to go from blu_spark to official?
Download the fajita TWRP .img and .zip files (from https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-touch-recovery-t3861482
Connect phone to PC and enter fastboot mode
Boot the .img file
Once in recovery, flash the new .zip file
My plan is to then flash the new Oxygen OS released from OnePlus and then flash Magisk.
Looks okay
However, the flash of the OS in TWRP is not clearly defined. Everyone is waiting for new update to try it in the TWRP... So, basically if you wanna flash it that way, you'll probably be the first.... This could put you in the risk of bricking the device though.
I have just done this. Yes you can boot the unofficial 6T recovery and then flash the installer no problem. However if you were running a OP6 ROM the 6T will not decrypt it, unless Im soing something wrong. On my phone once Im on a OP6 rom like LOS16 I can only use the Blu TWRP, if I go back to stock 6T OOS I have to use the 6T TWRP to decrypt. On either system I can bounce between TWRP versions without issue doing as you said, boot the img, then flash the zip, but I cant view anything. Going back to thr correct TWRP restores data access, no bricking worries that Ive run into personally.
There is no official TWRP yet...

Thanks for the replies.
I successfully went from blu_spark TWRP to the newer faijta TWRP which has the option for decrypting.
That allowed me to use the recovery to flash the new OTA OxeygenOS update which I downloaded from oneplus.com.
So i recently installed developer image 8.0 on my 2017 16gb shield, now i want to install twrp and then flash the kernel to increase cpu and gpu clock and mainly full fan control, i have read that there is no root available but with dev image which is already rooted is it safe to install twrp and the kernel and how do i do it, thank you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tv/development/kernel-overclock-kernel-2-22-ghz-t3943079
There is root available, works with both the developer image but also the stock ota.
All the kernel's/modified boots there comes with magisk root.
If you have no idea how to do it, I wouldn't suggest you start doing it.
But there a plenty of guides here on the forum on how to root, flash images and boot into twrp.
I guess my question is as the dev edition is already rooted do i need to install magisk or just flash the kernel which is what i wanted to begin with. So just to twrp temporarily and then flash kernel but not install twrp, i am not entirely sure.

You can boot into twrp from fastboot.
"fastboot boot twrp.img"
Magisk is included in the kernel, so if you flash the kernel, magisk will also be installed.
I understood that part, so do i have to flash twrp after flashing kernel with temporary twrp or just leave as it is with stock recovery for it to work.

I would suggest just leaving the stock recovery there.
I tried flashing twrp and ended with a bootloop, so now I just boot into twrp instead.
I was running on OOS 10.3 rooted with Magisk and flashed TWRP.
I tried to install Lineage OS 16 (the last version from the official website), but after sideloading it and the superSU file in TWRP I could only reboot in the Lineage recovery mode. I tried to flash a unofficial version of Lineage 17 but still not working, the Lineage recovery mode just became rainbow colored. Then I tried to do a factory reset and flash an OOS and since then I have no more access to the recovery mode and the only thing I have when I try to access it or when I turn on the phone is the unlocked boot loader message. I can only access the fastboot mode. Sometimes when I turn it on, I also have the Qualcomm Crashdump message, but nor every time.
I read about MSM, but I'm running on mac OS... Any ideas of solutions I can try with mac terminal?
Thanks for your help

Fastboot ROM. It's available in the Guides Section and the Instructions are pretty straightforward. You can Google "OP6T Fastboot ROM". Also, from the looks of it, you didn't flash LOS Correctly.

I fastbooted the original ROM and installed TWRP back. Then I used TWRP to install LOS from a zip file. Basically I followed OhioYJ's instructions on his comment above.
Basic information:
My Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, (SM-T725C)
Magisk: Magisk is installed, using falsh patched image.
TWRP link: https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxytabs5elte.html
Issue:
Now I wish to install TWRP to my device, but I can't. I followed the instruction on TWRP page, install TWRP app via google play, download the vbmeta.tar and flash it. Now I ended up with the result that I can't get into my system. (When I enter recovery, it's TWRP, when I boot normally, it just stays with samsung logo.)
I managed to reflash the magisk patched image and now I can boot into the system. But how can I flash TWRP, with magisk enabled at same time?
(I use TWRP to flash opengapps because google apps are not included in Chinese version of Samsung system)

I dont know if this works with the latest update, but it certenly worked with android pie and the first android 10 update.
Edit 'I have just seen your device is a different number so may not work'
Instal TWRP without a P.C. for Galaxy Tab S5e (SM-T720) keeping stock ROM.
I wrote this guide because I had difficulty trying to instal a patched version of twrp through odin so I found this alternative way which worked very well for me. Please read all through especially the warning at the end before attempting to...
