i need help with my new n900v

hello there
i did a mistake and buy note 3 n900v
my rom is based on mje
and my device is very slow and the tw luncher is not smooth like n9005 even that they share the same cpu and gpu
i want to change my rom to one is clean from everyrhing from verizon (like apps and bootanimation)
i have root access and i dont want to brick my device
can i install n9005 rom?
someone can help me please ?

Questions should be in Q & A. That's what its there for.
Buying a 900V is a big mistake if your not on Verizon. No, you cannot flash N9005 roms on this device. Your best bet would be installing one of the roms in the development section here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3/development

I don't know if there is a scamware version of Kingo going around or something, but I've never been able to get it to work.
I can use ADB without any problems on my SM-N900V. I then run Kingo and it does nothing, just sits there "waiting" for the devices. Windows Firewall disabled, No AV software, Trying Kingo w/Admin permissions and without. Nothing works.
After wasting hours with this, I finally decided I'd try a vanilla Windows 8 install, nothing on it but Kingo. Still didn't work.
Brought my phone back to my PC, ADB works just fine -- tried Kingo again -- nothing.
...On a related note...
After searching the forums for some time, there is one question I just can't determine definitively:
Can the SM-N900V (Verizon Galaxy Note 3) be truly "unlocked" with a custom recover (or) are we still limited to Safestrap options?

I had the same problem with Kingo initially. I don't remember how I fixed it, but it was a simple fix.... something stupid. Now it works with no problem.
In regard to the recovery, if you have a retail Note 3 from Verizon you will brick it if you flash a recovery other than safestrap. The bootloader will recognize the recovery is not stock, your knox will void you warranty and the phone will not boot. The only available recovery option for retail is safestrap.

I've tried all of the crazy suggestions that people have claimed will make it work. Setting screen timeout to 10 minutes, allowing untrusted & disabling app inspection, everything.
I can even use ADB directly from the Kingo directory, no problem.
And here's the real kicker .. if I delete the token allowing ADB access to my phone, Kingo will not trigger the phone to prompt for one. So Kingo is *not* even attempting to run ADB.
Not to mention, if you look at the logs, the entire time Kingo is communicating with Chinese servers. Sure, it might not be doing anything to root the phone, but that's not going to stop them from sending loads of data to China in the process.
At this point I think I think I'm best to chalk up the 12+ wasted hours on Kingo and give vRoot a try. What a nightmare, I've never had such a bad experience with an Android tool, whether it be for S-OFF, Rooting, etc.

Any luck with vroot?

I wish you could recall the "something simple" to make Kingo work. Where can I get "Safestrap?"

I just got a Verizon SM-900V with MJE yesterday. I need root to be able to use ARUnchained with my AppRadio 2. I tried Kingo, and it just kept switching between "connecting" and "downloading drivers" it never would connect to the phone. At this point, I'm not to concerned about custom ROMs, nor am I concerned about voiding the warranty. I just need to be able to obtain ROOT without bricking my phone. All of the threads on successful rooting of this device are from around November of last year. So, is there a way to successfully root any more? Thanks in advance!

[Q] ***NOOB-ALERT!*** Need Help Regarding Newly Acquired Nexus 7 (2012)

Hi,
I recently acquired a new Nexus 7 (2012) and to unlock its full potential, I have decided to ROOT it. Now, this is the very first Android-based device that I have ever used and I'm not at all familiar with all these ROOTing techniques.
Would you guys be kind enough to link me to a NOOB-FRIENDLY tutorial that would allow me to ROOT my device with all necessary softwares, etc.?

EDIT: And would I be able to download applications from other regions as well? For example, Amazon Kindle & Amazon MP3 are not available in my region so I can't download them. If yes, then how do I do it?

Now, exactly why do you want to root it? Are you not satisfied with the device? If the answer is yes, you can use this automated toolkit to root your N7 for you (It's as noob friendly as it can get)

And, yeah, you can put a region restricted app in your device, as long as you can find the .apk file on the internet. And you don't need root for that.

Hi, ArslanTufail93...
Not wishing to dampen your enthusiasm or anything... but maybe you should learn to walk before you can run.
Perhaps you should take some time getting to know Android first. Familiarise yourself with it, before you go rooting.
Rooting gives you access to /system... and which is the metaphorical equivalent of taking the back off of that expensive clock/watch/audio system you've just bought... and poking around inside... and maybe making (what you think are) improvements.
Just make damn sure you know what it is your doing... 'cos it's all too easy to mess stuff up.
And if you're looking for an easy way of rooting... then perhaps you shouldn't be doing it all!
Here's how to root... (sorry, but you're gonna have to do a bit of research yourself - this is just a rough outline).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
** Unlock the bootloader with fastboot oem unlock
** Fastboot flash a Custom Recovery (CWM or TWRP) with fastboot flash recovery custom_recovery.img
** Download to the Nexus 7, Chainfire's UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.
** Boot into the previously flashed Custom Recovery, and flash Chainfire.
** Reboot... you're rooted.

Take your time... read around here on XDA... pay attention to the 'stickies'.
And don't become reliant on toolkits. Familiarise yourself with Fastboot and ADB. Fastboot is the key to your Nexus 7.

Samsung Galaxy J3 (SM-J320P) Virgin Mobile (or any carrier) Support???

Wondering if anyone in the know has heard of any development going on for this device? I recently bought one and it's not a bad phone for the price, but I've seen absolutely -nothing- on it anywhere online for the most part. It's barely root-able with what I've been able to find, and no custom recovery or really anything custom has popped up that I've seen.
Not sure if it's just that it's been only a few months since the phone came out, or if it's just not that great a phone. I upgraded from an HTC Desire 510 to this, and it was heavily customized/rooted/etc, and I want so badly to get back to where I was with it on this phone I cant stand it!

I also want to root my Galaxy J3! I just want to root it so I can use AdAway and Titanium Backup.

Right now rooting isn't the problem so much as keeping root. Because apparently the colonel has protection and will remove root whenever you reboot. That means things that require root on boot like backups, Xposed and a lot of other things won't work for us until someone complies a kernel with root protection removed. You can do some debloating and possibly the AdAway but that's about it right now.

That sucks. I upgraded from an LG Volt and I was able to do a whole bunch of stuff on it. The J3 is still very new, so hopefully development will happen soon.

I guess that would depend on what you have experience with and what you can do. Thus-far root has been able to be achieved with Kingroot, though it wont stick through a power cycle (reboot/power off/etc), and using any of the methods available (at least that I'm aware of, only found two legitimate ones) to replace Kingroot with SuperSU (to facilitate having root stick past the reboot hopefully) causes a soft-brick every time forcing a re-flash of stock firmware through Odin.
At the very least make your voice heard, if nothing else hopefully more popularity will come this devices way and we'll see some development for it. My roommate is considering writing something for it, but it is a long process working solo, so anyone who has experience working with kernels or editing stock rom/writing custom roms feels up to helping out, shoot me a message and I'll get it over to him. He's a fairly experienced programmer and picks up what he doesn't already know pretty quickly.

Got one recently too. Would also appreciate any more information on rooting.

Everything is great except a lag issue with supersu. There is an exposed by wanum that works as well. Only app that has root issue so far is ES File Explorer. Will this version of TWRP work on the Att variant running 6.0.1? Is there a way to root that device yet?

Anything yet for J320A/Z models? (AT&T/cricket)
This version of TWRP won't work will it? Totally different phone?
EDIT: just realized the guy above has the same question... something tells me we won't see root on the ATT/cricket variants for a while.

Try official TWRP of galaxy J2. Your variant shares the same specs as J2. Others also did this to galaxy On5, it works 100%.

what about the
SM-J320VPP = the verizon pre paid planversion. any working roots for me yet?

So can you confirm this method works? Does OEM unlock setting in dev options unlock the bootloader on AT&T variant? If so couldn't I temp root and flash TWRP via Flashify?

It doesn't work tried it 3 times. I even tried other ones no luck. They locked this thing down. Im surprise chainfire haven't tried this phone yet.

I rooted it with Kingo Root. Kingo Root stated that it successfully rooted the device, but the phone OS had given me warnings about unauthorized access to the device or something.
One week later (I did *not* reflash the phone nor install any applications after I rooted the phone) I found the phone stuck in an annoying bootloop. The device status is still "official" and the Knox counter is still set at 0x0.
Now that it's bootlooping I'd like to know if it's possible to take the applications and files off the phone before I factory reset it. It's not looking hopeful as I read similar threads from 2012 saying that once other Android devices bootloop, getting stuff off of them is impossible. I tried using ADB to take data off the phone (while Odin3 was detecting it being connected to the PC) but ADB doesn't detect the phone. Should I try a different cable?

Best advice would be to try flashing the stock firmware with odin. That shouldn't delete any of your data and will usually fix a bootloop. You can Google your phones stock firmware and see if you can download it.

Thank you so much! I tried using Odin to flash a software update and it worked perfectly. The phone is back up and running and all of the files are still there!

Right now i have TWRP 3.0.2 with supersu and i havent lost root yet also had no problem switching between backups, xposed working fine and also overclock too with setcpu, im currently running 5.1.1 using j320FN but TWRP was from j320F, i will put up links to the files if any of you are willing to try its up to you.

Remember to turn on usb debugging and turn on oem unlock before flashing recovery, also if you manage to get recovery press they grey box on the right to change language to english. Hope this might help somebody on here because we really need full root for everyone.

Lenovo A1000m root help ?

Hey guys.
I've managed to find a couple of videos and tutorials on rooting the A1000 (99% of them using KingRoot), but there's absolutely no info on the A1000m. While it's basically the same phone with a bit less memory, it won't root. I've tried pretty much everything I found on the web with no success. And quite frankly I'm scared to keep going, because I can't find the firmware and if I brick this stupid phone I'll probably have to pay for it, because it's not mine. Not a big deal, it's one of the cheapest devices available in my country, but I'd rather find a way to root it or at least keep it in working condition before returning it to it's owner.
Any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Even if all you can do is tell me that it's impossible to root. I just need to be sure, before I return it.

Tried it. And that's the one that scared me. At first it wouldn't work. Someone told me to give it another try and it said the phone was rooted. But it wasn't. All it did was break the playstore and it wouldn't let me download anything. The phone froze and restarted a couple of times... It was a pain in the ass. And the other app that came with it, King User - it wouldn't go away even after a hard reset. I had to install KingRoot again, try rooting it a couple of times until it said it was successful and then do the unroot procedure in King User to get rid of the app.
In my opinion, KingRoot is a total waste of time. Never used it before, don't plan on doing it in the future.

A1000 has older chipset Spreadtrum SC7731 without G mark on the end. your vibe A has half memory and smaler kapacity of battery bad plastiks and dimensions look same on www gsmarena com
ps: kingo root for windows with debuging activate in phone working with A1000 on second try (and another few phones year before), and cpu-z (cpuid) confirm it is root acess

A2017G (6.0.1) B08 - Root without Unlocking possible?

I found there is a thread describing how to root the US/Chinese model without unlocking the bootloader -

However it mentions that this'll brick the European model because of the included TWRP version and unfortunately I'm on a ZTE A2017GV1.0.0B08 (Android 6.0.1, Kernel 3.18.20).
Is there any news if this can be done now with the international variant -
I'm not interested in a custom ROM or updating Android, I'm happy at the moment with the 6.0.1 version I have, but really would like root for xposed framework, Titanium, Tasker ...
Is there a different TWRP version that can be used or is it not working due to the ZTE's signature key used?
Alternatively is there a way for the A2017G to re-lock the bootloader that's 100% working/safe, if you don't apply a custom ROM?

It didn't really answer the question : Is unlocking necessary to root, or can we root without unlocking ?
Every tutorials founds all follows the same paths : Unlock first, then root. But why ? is there a reason for that, or is it just a "since i'm rooting, let's unlock it while i'm at it" thing ?

Maybe I didn't fully comprehend the thread - I was under the impression that it bricked some A2017G, while not others and didn't want to take the risk.
Reading through the instructions - which of these steps did you take (and in what order)?
I read it that you do not need to flash TWRP? So can I just root the phone without bricking it and all is good as long as I stay with my 6.0.1 B08 version?
I understand the instructions as
- boot into edl
- install Qualcomm driver
- run axon7root to already root the device (backup seems to be done in the next step?! according to instructions).
However there is no axon7root version for the A2017G (B08) as it was removed due to TWRP?!
All I can find is the axon7backup tool (would you actually do this before you run the axon7root the first time?)
If you run the axon7root, did you do 'axon7root.exe -p 4 -b'
so that it only flashes the boot.img (not TWRP recovery) and therefore this is safe?
Sorry for the long essay, help is really appreciated!

Theoretically, yes, you can root w/o unlocking the bootloader. This is how things are done typically with certain manufacturers (LG, Samsung) that rarely offer BL unlocking. To be able to flash TWRP on a locked BL is even more difficult, as it would require a BL-level exploit. The reason that's not an option here is the ability to unlock, which precludes such development.

Regarding Bootloader unlock - I didn't buy the phone in the EU, hence my warranty would be void if I unlock it. And my warranty even comes with screen replacement (not that I ever cracked a screen, but there's always a first).
I have to admit that I'm tempted by Lineage OS, but for now (as I just bought the phone) - if there's a reasonably safe way to root without unlock, I'd prefer to just root and then maybe in a year's time or so switch to Lineage OS...
For now I managed to have my phone recognized as QUSB_BULK and I can boot into edl.
I was trying to use the axon7toolkit (1.1.1), but for whatever reason I cannot use it in commandline mode (maybe as there seem to be different versions, or maybe cause I am on Win7 32bit, no idea).
Any help would be really great!

HOWEVER there are two problems:
1) The bootloader can stay locked as it's using a signed version of TWRP, which can brick your device (A2017G)
2) The linked axon7root.exe is not for my device (A2017G B08).
Having said that, some users have been successful with rooting this version, so there seems to be a way, if you get the steps right.

Did you figured out a method to root the A2017G without unlocking?
I just got mine and need root for transferring all the apps from my old Nubia Z7....

You can't. Don't even try it if you don't want to face DFU...
Just use the same app that the phone comes with, I think it's WeShare or something like that. It should let you transfer all of your crap via a LAN wifi transmission (If you use a 5GHz hotspot it'll be fast as heck).
Or just unlock the phone. But don't relock it if you do, because you can make a huge mess
