I decided to dual boot my gaming rig. Relearning how to build is a PITA. Downloading source and syncing repo is easy. But getting a successful build is hard. I may not succeed

I'd be in for it! RR is the only ROM that I used long-time on any of my phone's. Usually I'd just switch between like. Bliss, LOS, PE, Havoc and such as they all have things I don't like or miss and RR was the one ROM that had it all...
If you need testers with a EU 8 Pro (IN2023) i'd be up for that!
RR was definitely a impressive dish...

RR has added 100s more options. They have integrated a fully customizable theme also. Like fully transparent, pure black/white, changing icons, colors, fonts, navbar buttons, etc. I left havoc for RR and will never go back.
So, as of right now, this project is being abandoned by the dev I was working with and myself. We had too many build errors. We need a proper repo from Lineage which is not available.
Stay tuned.......
We are more than likely going to have it have the rom forced to 60hz but it's still a work in process on the build side. We have it 65%+ successful build.
Good to hear!
Just leave this right here
Btw, I am NOT the dev responsible for this
Ladies and gentlemen. 120hz works fine. Actually the only bug is fingerprint and adding 60hz and 90hz(work in progress).

Wouldn't bother with 60hz just add FHD as a switch from QHD as QHD can cause issues with battery depletion and green tint along with other things.
120hz is preferred by 99% of users anyway.

Neither do I have any of the other reported issues or the green tint, but myself and yourself are two people
If a developer is going to release a ROM then they should take others into account.
Or is all this work just for yourself? That's not what XDA is really about is it?
QHD will burn your battery down faster than FHD and the difference is minimal, that will affect you too.
Your call.

Just personal preference. CM offers minor tweaks that are not available in Stock for some reason. Why don't they have a battery % is beyond my understanding.

Here are some other things I appreciate in CM versus stock:
Custom tiles with touch and hold functionality
Expanded desktop
Configurable LED notifications
Advanced Power Menu
New Lock Screen options
Built in updater for nightlies
Flashed it on my N7 and N4 and it's stable. I noticed one minor but, it didn't restore my WiFi and wallpaper and start auto downloading apps after I logged in. Someone said that's because of the 0 day PA gapps I used. I've used the same one before and didn't have the issue so I'm not sure who's at fault here.
Haven't noticed any other bugs. No random reboots/app crashes, phone breaking bugs. I love it for all the tiny features. Hold vol buttons to forward, quick toggles, reboot menu etc.

Yeah, but waiting for Google to bug fix anything can take weeks if not months, with CM it can get done within hours/days.
I am using this and and seems great. Haven't had any issues at all other than the exact same MX Player issues that I was having on stock.

As far as i remember CM11 had to be ironed out and not the official rom. In the beggining video playback was broken, then notification bar was flickering then wifi didn't work for some. Look at CM thread in other forums, 137 pages for CM11 in i9100 forum and only 12 pages in Nexus 7 forums. When people starts to feel bored with stock then they will jump to CM11 until PA comes out and then everybody will jump to PA:silly:

Hi all, thought I'd start this discussion (following a success of such thread I started for the OnePlus 5T) just for a place to talk about what rom we're all running at present, for what reasons etc. to offer an overview of what choices are available for our great device. Having this one thread for an ongoing discussion will prove handy for us all to keep up to date.
I've just purchased a Pixel 2 XL which will arrive in a couple of days and I'll be selling my OnePlus 5T. As much as I love it, I really wanted to have the stereo speakers, water resistance, great camera and fast updates.
So indeed, what roms/kernels do people suggest? I'm thinking Nitrogen OS will be my first rom...
I alternate between stock and DU atm. After the March security update, I'm going to try Nitrogen. It was my favorite rom on my 6p, and Nittin, the maintainer, is very good at fixing bugs and offering support. As far as kernels go, it's tough to beat Flash. He updates that kernel shortly after upstream changes are posted. Having said that, Snoke and Ex are also very good if you want to stay close to the stock Google kernel. And that's my 2 pennies worth ??

Yes there is a Magisk mod to customise the squeeze, haven't used personally yet though.

Substratum to. change the nav keys

Yeah that could be how I end up to be honest! Am I right in thinking that Nitrogen OS is essentially a stock rom but modded? As so opposed to Lineage based or anything like that?
What I most want from a rom:
- stock camera quality/performance
- be able to swap recents/back button
- long press actions (eg back for kill, recents to last app, home button launch torch)
I'm not too bothered about many other mods

How to u alternate du and go back to stock, Everytime I flash du and go back to stock it using script to flash stock to both slots I lost my data because it ask me to factory reset all the time
AquariOS has been my DD going on a month now. Solid and has most everything you would need. Great ROM??
I think i agree with the most of pixel users,
Stock with a personal ingredients on top, that always work best,
My current setup is
• Feb Stock
• Flash Kernel/Kirisakura (am juggling between version)
• xPosed for Instant Face Unlock, Flat Style Status Bar, SudoHide (stop that app update notif in playstore, hide the app from it), and Exposed Edge
• using screen gesture & fingerprint scanner gesture control to do everything (back, home, recent, app cycling, shortcut, you name it). There goes the annoying on screen nav bar. And here come the fully immersive screen, all the time !
• Viper4FX + Dolby Atmos through Magisk
• Nova launcher with icon pack & google companion
• Substratum
• Adblock + WireGuard
• iYTBP - Just like how YouTube supposed to be. Background playback with no Ads.

Simple. My stock rom is on slot A, and my DU is on slot B. When I want to switch, I go into twrp, change to the slot I want to be active, then do a twrp factory reset, then restore my backup and that's pretty much it. I've probably done that half a dozen times in the last month ??

I've been loving nitrogen and flashk. Has been running great since day one. Even with... Xposed installed. Lol. If i need my squeeze fix i go to stock for a bit ?. Never thought squeezie phone would be useful. Ive ran du and AquariOs also. There all great roms, very happy to have as much development as there is for the xl2. As far as kernels ive really only used flash. But all of the a available ones are from great devs and worth trying.
Ever since my first Android device (Nexus 6P), I've mainly run PureNexus. Got a Pixel XL and had PN on that too. Switched to the OnePlus 5 and had PureFusion on that as it was basically PureNexus for the OnePlus 5. Got the 5T and it kind of felt like a downgrade. Vibration motor felt "loose" or weak to me, and initially there was not much development for it, including the lack of PureFusion. Development kicked in eventually but I just wanted to come back to Google at that point.
Found someone to trade my 5T with, and now I'm the happy owner of a 2 XL My setup is:
Stock Feb update
Magisk 16.0
Xposed for Oreo
Using GravityBox to fill in the empty spaces stock leaves. I've always used custom ROMs in the past and this is my first time being happy with stock, and that is mainly because of the customization GravityBox offers!
As for kernels, I use flash because he was super helpful back in the 6P days, and is an awesome developer in general, so I want to support him! Also, he updates so frequently and I'm a total flashaholic (no pun intended:laugh so it's a win-win.
Whenever PureNexus drops, I'll definitely making the switch over, and I may play around with DU if I get some spare time to do so; seems like everyone is really loving that ROM as well
Sorry for the long post/unnecessary backstory of the devices I own, just thought I may as well include that bit in

In the past I've used Mokee in my HTC Desire HD I was really happy
Thought of trying in my 1+1 ..well if you don't care about charging led when the phone is turned off and no percentage(just a simple animation) ..I didn't find any big issues
GPS seems to take a while longer to lock in the late builds
P.S. It's weird I don't see any official presence here
Wow man, you used Mokee on the DHD? I made that port Never knew they released 8.1 for the OPO, care to share a link?

It has some extra which are nice to have, only bad thing is that they share kernel specs as the "no charging light when phone is turned off" but the animation of that seems cooler(but no percentage either) - SafetyNET passes ..case you're wondering

Without any apps it works quite fast
P.S. Now about MK81 and our phones that kernel bug is bugging me ...charging it without a lit led seems disturbing(when it's turned off) ..it's an old CM bug. The animation they have is fun although not that smooth and has no percentage
Kinda surprised there are no ROMs yet...

In my opinion the release of pocophone really made this device irrelevant.

Well, at least we are lucky that this phone works really good on stock ROM, so for now, I'm not complaining.
There is only two things I would like to be fixed, dual ringtone option, and some king of proximity fix, everything else works perfectly fine for me.
Ofcorse, camera2 by default would be great.

Have you held the pocophone in your hand? It's awful. Cheap plastic, cheap plastic everywhere. Plus bleeding screen. Yes, it has SD845, but the design and build quality is setting us five years back. For me, it is not an acceptable phone. I hope we get some good custom roms soon.

Keep in mind that on stock android, until Pie, you won't actually see the brightness slider moving, once the system has set a value you're supposed to use it to adjust the brightness around it.

Yup, I think nobody wants to develop Oreo when Pie is right around the corner...
Since I am the user of a double device (Android&iOS), the iOS device is easy to decide, but for Android device, I just change a lot. I concern about the camera, battery as the key elements but not so important in terms of the screen. After switching S8-Mix2S- S9 -pixel3, I decide to embrace 2XL again because I really like the snappy stock Android and cannot bear with any other OS. Now I want to ask you guys, which ROM is the best, is that Android Q or P or O? I really don't want to waste of time to find test each ROM so please tell me directly which one is best in your opinion, thank you!

I am a fan of the bootleggers rom. I use it as a daily driver but pixeldust and havoc are also solid choices. Android p for all of them with latest security patch.
In my case I roll with rooted android P + Swift black substratum theme to make it amoled-friendly.

Thank you for your advise, I will try then~
Right now it's hard to find a problem with any of the Roms.
If you like close to stock there's
-ABC, DU13, AquariOS, StatixOS,
Then there's kitchen sink Roms
-RR, CrDroid, Havoc, Liquid, Bliss, AOISP,
I would try them all and see what you like
One thing I noticed is i get a little bit better battery life using quickstep launcher vs lawnchair.
DU is the most stablest ROM, but it it lacks most features than the other AOSP ROMS. FYI, they group is quitting when Q comes out.

A lot of our developers to include myself have been doing this custom ROM thing for a while now. Some of us as early as the ICS days. The leadership in DU has decided that it time to call it quits. We have been doing this for a while now and have nothing to prove. Our Android P builds are as good as they’re going to be, as you can tell and we figured we end things on a high note. Things are going very well but is time to move on. At the end of Android P, the project you’ve all come to love or maybe hate lol will dissolve. Our developers are free to do what they want to do but I suspect most will continue to kick ass and take names elsewhere for other projects.
For myself, I will pursue making a name for myself over on Twitch. Is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while now but just never had a whole lot of time or even space on my computer to do so. With DU in the rear view mirror, I believe I can give it my all. If nothing else, I can have some fun with that ?
Our Github organization will stay up as a reference for any developers that would like to carry on a similar project and/or port any of our work forward to future versions. However, our Discord server, Twitter account and other accounts that we used to communicate with our base will be shut down at the end of P.
We like to take this opportunity to thank all our contributors throughout the years. Is definitely been a good experience and we wouldn’t have done it any other way because we did it our way! Thank you again!

Right now it's hard to find a problem with any of the Roms.
If you like close to stock there's
-ABC, DU13, AquariOS, StatixOS,
Then there's kitchen sink Roms
-RR, CrDroid, Havoc, Liquid, Bliss, AOISP,
I would try them all and see what you like
One thing I noticed is i get a little bit better battery life using quickstep launcher vs lawnchair.

Than you sir, I will try to find those ROM!
Another vote for Bootleggers here. However, there is no such thing as “the best ROM”. It all depends on what features you want, and the overall feel/look you are most comfortable with. The best thing to do is try one for a few days, then try something else and compare. Soon you will find one that hits that sweet spot, and that will be “the best ROM” for you.
Btw don't judge any ROM solely on the thread activity (or paucity of activity). Happy users don't post issues

Thank you, mate, I've tried the Havoc ROM for 1day and the battery life just amazing! Indeed the system is very smooth and snappy, I like the animation of it when open app and go back to the home page. My best concern is battery life, then fluency,I don't really care about other things.
I am in the process of getting a pixel 2 xl as well... from my reading, active edge is now working on custom roms, and camera quality is the same as stock roms?

Yes to both, to a certain degree for question 1. Check the rom description in the OP of what rom you like to know if AE is working :good:
Finally I choose AEX..

There is no difference from stock to custom ROM in photo quality.
