its definitely a plastic... there's a teardown on YouTube

It doesnt feel as premium as of the time I unboxed it
... it would be also nice if I can replace its phone case like a Nillkim CamShield (the case feels pretty premium) and it has also a protective cover to the camera...
(im broke for now btw)
the only thing that makes me worry that it would also have a camera dust issue like in the Redmi Note 9 Series because on how wide the camera module is and how it is design like on the Poco X3 Series... but until now, no problems on the camera....
Overall very good experience with the phone, even excited that nearly a month, theres new custom ROM that made for this device... Xiaomi is definitely one of the brands that devs love to play around!

I hope your wrong because if you don't that means the Xiaomi lied about the special system cooling by using the aluminum frame too...and that's a fraud already and not just a mislead.

When you tick on the top right/left on the back, you also hear a sound like something is loose? Or that's a vibration motor?

I really think they lied about that metal frame. People say that only poco X3 Indian variant has plastic frame, not global version. But i don't believe it. From the X3 NFC teardown videos, i saw the plastic frame connect to the main structure by dovetail joints.

Yeah That's exact what i mentioned ! Thank you for the picture mate !

Man this phone got a plastic trim between the glass of the screen and the "metal" frame . That trim is out a bit you can feel it . The problem with that trim is if you push it with a plastic or with a pen or something is bending is soft . Looks ugly to me . My one got 3 dents already

I don't think you should spread around this picture when we have no idea what actually happened. A picture and the video he posted in arabic of a burned phone doesn't really tell anything... This would be more legit if we saw more cases but so far none. So this just looks sketchy now...

If you are careful, you will feel a vibration on back cover. Its because speaker. Its annoying if you play some games.

My volume rocker wobbles a bit, like a milimeter movement or so.
Is it only mine or other units as well?

Same here
Also I got many scratches on back of the device within a week with light usage.
I never kept my phone on any bare surface let alone while charging.
Seems the back is cheap quality.
And yes the volume rocker buttons seem wobbly and cheap.

Yeah same here my phone never left its case after unboxing and i was surprised to see a few scratches, thats why i quickly bought a carbon sticker to ease my worries a bit
I guess they really exchanged the build quality for the specs.

Glasstic backs are very prone to scratches, Even if u put it in and out of bundled TPU case 2-3 times, they catch microscratches. that's why I prefer getting a plastic film (Protector) over these from the day 1 (or 2 at most).
Matte finish of some entry level realme C series phones or old nokia lumia phones fared much better.
Still I prefer plastic as it is less prone to break than glass.

Build quality of DVP ???

Hey...
I just want to know about the build quality. Is the chrome plastic? Or metal?
Is anything plastic?
Thanks.
I know the battery cover is plastic. Pretty sure the chrome sides will be too.

ya i saw a video saying cover was plastic...
if the chrome sides are plastic...that may change my mind (paint could scratch off easy...) =.=.
Bump...someone please answer me.
BUMP. ANYONE?
common, I know someone of you got the phone.
I went to use one in the Microsoft store here in San Diego, and if I recall the sides seemed like actual metal. The phone feels very sturdy in the hand and I didn't question the build quality at any time.
Thanks for the answer.

Thanks, just what I wanted to know.
I am pretty sure that the sides are plastic. The back is also plastic and I am not to sure that I like that texture. Overall the slider is well built and seems like it will last for some time.
I am not really concerned about the build as it seems quite good. The back is flimsy but really it is not doing anything but covering the battery and the SIM. Not as structural as some phones back covers.

So you have the DVP and you think its plastic?
Well, if they were metal, that could explain why the phone weighs 6.74 oz.
I want it to be metal heh. makes it feel like a superior product.
The build quality could be better. The phone is plastic and some of the fit is less the perfect. It's not a Nokia E series or an HTC - but I think it will stand up.
That blows. Makes me think about just going to get the LG Optimus 7. That phone definitely has awesome build quality.

I'm still going to try one, at least. I'm looking forward to the speaker and the screen mainly. Red on the HD7 looks like Orange, lol.
Between the HTC HD7/Surround, Dell venue pro, and the Samsung focus, I would rate the screens as follows:
HTC: 5.0
Dell: 8.0
Samsung: 9.0
Both the Dell/Samsung are a little blurry or grainy up close but the picture quality/contrast is so much better then LCD.
Up close and with small text is the downside of SAMOLED and AMOLED screens with the PenTile matrix. My only gripe. When resolutions go up in the future. I will be curious as to how much better it will be.

Personally I'm very impressed with the build quality, even though it's all plastic, its all put together very well. All the seams line up PERFECTLY, there are no rough edges and no flexing. It looks and feels great.
For me the build quality is good. It does not feel very platic to me.
And I am very demanding on my phones, as you can see in other topics, I notice every little problem there is.
Yhe phone feels very sollid, everything is well pushed together, so no "air" between things... no looseness. It feels like one piece. Also no sounds if you push anywhere, no cracking.
I am very happy abouth the build quality, as I tought it would bother me.

I agree completely.
Super impressed. MUCH better than other plastic phones like the atrix.
As more people here, I am really a phone freak. First thing I look in the first few days is how well the phone is build. I look for everything that wouldnt be good about the build quality.
Well, it is thin like hell, its light... But, it feels well built. The back cover is scary thin when taken off, but it snaps on perfectly (in 10 places). No cracks, funny noises or stuff. Its built nicely.
The only thing is I treat it very carefully when not in my case. That off course also shows it feels high quality, thats why I dont want to break it.
Maybe a very little build quality problem, altough it is not really a problem.
But between the glass of the screen and the surrounding plastic there is a smalish gap where dirt or dust gets in(not under the screen tough(for now)). Since i have my phone i cleaned it with the edges of a piece of paper.

Build quality is cheap compared to a lot of phones out there... and I just cracked the glass last night when I had my SGSII in my back pocket and was leaning against a stool at the bar in my fav night club last night... Pretty poor really for a $750+ phone.

Consider it like this:-
Physically Samsung’s wafer-thin chassis is great in the pocket whereas its competitor HTC Sensation feels better in the hand. Tapering edges, a neatly curved display and high-quality metal and soft-touch plastic make for a device that feels more expensive than the Galaxy S II can manage.
It's a trade-off to give Samsung the edge in lightness and thinness. I have no problem with the thin plastic. I'm super careful with all my devices because I can resell them easier lol.
The phone's solid, but I treat it as if its fragile for some reason. Because its so light and thin, it always feels like it could fall out of my hand. Cases are starting to come out and I ordered a Case-Mate tough case. I know I'll be less paranoid about it once its protected.
And to the Aussie who cracked his screen... I've dropped other phones that have landed in ways that should have cracked their screens but for some reason they survived. I've done the same thing you did with an HD2 (which is also thin) by hitting it against something in a way a pressure point cracked the screen diagonally. No phone can protect you against every instance of screen breakage. I think thinner phones are more susceptible to pressure point cracks.

You also need to factor in that because the sensation uses metal for its casing, its also a lot heavier. This may or may not be what your looking for.
It really depends on the individual. In amazed on the good reviews here but honestly when I first opened the box my heart sank.
Coming from the hd2 and iphone 4. This felt like some cheap toy for my tenants sister to play with rather than cutting edge executive phone. Its plasticky but like all the comments above, it probably was designed this way to make it light.
Not my cup if tea but of the trade off.I've learned to live with it

I disagree.
The material used is allowing some flexibility but it's very thin to allow for little weight and thickness of the overall phone. Even if it was made by carbon OF titanium and it was that thin it could brake. Its not unbrakeable. I have taken the cover off and on lots of times and I always take it slow and careful. What's the point of overreacting? You are holding 600€ of delicate electronic equipment covered in thin covers. You think just because you paid that amount it should also be unbrakeable?
I have had my share of confrontation with htc for their one S but that is because they claimed its so durable that doesn't need a case, though it chipped in a week without any misuse. But this claim to samsung's rear cover I think its pushing it.
Just get a new rear case and be careful how you handle the phone. Its not a hand tool but delicate equipment.

I still have no idea how people break the Samsung battery covers and the SGP Neo Hybrid frames. As shown in the YouTube videos, you can literally bend the crap out of them. People must be extremely rough with theirs.
did you guys ever see the video of the S2 back cover being bent in two and it was fine, looks like it does not apply to the S3
John.
Mine has lots of dinks in it all around the side I'm not happy at all of course somehow have applied pressure to course this but I'm aware that I handle my phone very carefully so I think the battery door is very very poor quality

We all try to carefully S3, but we must recognize that the quality of the finishes are terrible.
Youtube videos are very nice and the lid bends easily, try to cover your S3 and comets that we ido this to you and if possible record, you'll take a big disappointment.
The S2 was a great phone, both in quality and performance, the S3 is very good interpretations but not the quality of their materials.

No, apparently not all are carefully with their phones. If you regard the you tube videos of presentstion of the phone as how much you CAN bend the cover, then you are wrong. The people testing the phones are there to sometimes show you the limits of the phone's capabilities or reach them, not to show how you can use it everyday.
The first time you hold the phone you understand that the rear cover is very thin and the clips are delicate. That should increase your attention on how you open and close the cover. Quality is fine ifyou ask me, as I consider quality the fact that the case doesn't squeek and the cover fits well the rest of the phone. I feel you have to go into a lot of effort to crack a clip.
Sorry, that's how I see it.

Robocop, I like that ha ha, good name! Actually it was a friend who suggested me to go with that. My original choice was to get a case-mate tough case which I did with my Galaxy Nexus but then it appeared to make the phone too bulky even thou it did have good protection so I wanted to something slimmer without adding much bulkiness and have some form of protection.

I very like materials used on this device, the phone design is elegant and awesome at the same time and except the screen, that is an obstacle for many smartphones, it looks pretty solid
Do you guys take money or gift from Huawei? In all this real life threads there are the same guys talking about how great is this phone. That is not so great.
No, just in the threads where the same people speak about how great is this honor phone
You don't have nothing else to do on this forum?
This phone is good only on the inside. The build quality is s#!t. Never expect it to withstand any falls without a case/cover on. The back metal is not strong either. It bends with little force too.
I like Honor 6x very much for its build quality and network reception quality. Battery backup is soo good.
Feels pretty premium. I like the metal finish.
definitely a good one apart from the screen. No Gorilla GLass makes it vulnerable to break if falls from certain heights. YOu need to carry a case or handle with care. I dont like using any cover on my phone and using this since 10 months and been careful enough to avoid any scratches till date. Once fell down and got small scratch but that is not even visible to others and as I use my phone daily I know what is there on it
but seems apart from screen quality, other things are fine.
Uni body design gives premium look.
I am honestly quite disappointed with the build quality of this device. As you can easily pop out the display from the frame.

More than agree... 2 days ago my phone dropped on the floor by the side of the display, completely flat. Luckily i had a tempered glass protector on the display, because even if i have a cover that prevents the display to touch the floor, the temepered glass just fragmented with a huge breach from left to right. I'm more than sure that if i didn't applied that protector, today i would still being here smashing my head on a wall.

Material covering flash plastic?

Hi y'all.. Bought the lg g6 recently. So far loving it. I like how the phone is entirely scratch resistant however I just noticed that the material covering the flash is plastic. I saw a deep scratch and had no idea how it got there given that I've had the phone in a mil grade case ever since opening he package. I put my finger on the flash and the scratches got even worse. I'm considering returning the phone because of this, has anyone run into this??
Watch the video in youtube from jerryrigeverything to see from wich material is the flash supposed to be.

Really?? You're going to return a phone because of the material that was used to cover the LED camera flash?? What impact is a scratch on the plastic of your LED flash going to have on your photos?
I'm pretty sure the majority of phones out now use plastic for the flash. If you're considering returning it because of that then you should just get an iPhone. The plastic will refract the light regardless of whether there's scratches or not.

Google mainly and the channel i told you, in the test video for the s8 he says: " first time i ever see a glass on a flashlight", so i went straight to google and in fact its true.

ok this might be a game changer for me then lol - I chose LG G6 over the S8 because the G6 has a flat screen (I hate the curved screens because of the lack of screen protectors) - however I can't stand that a premium phone like the G6 opted for plastic to cover the flash, unacceptable.
Is not only LG, every other brand is exactly the same. Mi wife has a HTC 10, and that part is indeed plastic.
If a I were you, I wouldn't worry and enjoy the phone, its amazing

I already returned my G6 because of the plastic flash issue - I think it's a really cheap plastic because everytime I lightly brushed the flash with my finger there was a new scratch... pretty crazy

Did you check your new phone to make sure the mic and earpiece holes aren't gonna collect any dust? That right there is gonna KILL your smartphone experience. Also, don't forget to check the pressure sensitivity of the volume buttons.... can't have those taking too much or too little pressure to activate, right? And you're not thinking about getting the S8, are you?? My God, man, you DO know the volume control is just a single bar instead of two distinct buttons, right?? WHAT IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY PRESS UP WHEN YOU MEAN TO PRESS DOWN?!? THE HORROR!!!
Hahahaha funny!

on a more serious note - A cnet review noted that the G6 got a "hairline fracture" on the front despite normal use... not sure why there are physical defects like this
Fair enough

I will grant you that the phone probably picks up scratches easier than it should. I imagine LG was trying to save money by not going with Gorilla Glass 5 all the way around and sapphire crystal for the camera cover. But all these hardness ratings and scratch tests exist because ALL phones scratch and chip... some more than others. You're gonna have to pay however many thousands of dollars Apple was going to charge people for a sapphire crystal-encased phone before they scrapped that idea to get something that will really stand up to scratches and "hairline fractures."

right, but a hairline fracture on the screen is absurd.. that will actually affect the viewing. My Nexus 5X is mostly plastic aside from the screen and for now I'm sticking with this phone..
What if the plastic breaks, does this affect water resistance? should I even worry about it?
