MMS not working while on WiFi - Suggestions?

So I recently upgraded from my Nexus 6 to the 6P. Fantastic upgrade, except that there seems to be the issue I mentioned in this thread title.
Whenever I'm on LTE my MMS messages / group messages come in just fine. But whenever I'm connected to WiFi -- either at home or at work -- I'll get the blinking LED notification that I've received an MMS message and sometimes see the "Message is Downloading" placeholder, only it won't ever download. I physically have to disconnect from Wifi, and then the message will roll in a few moments later.
A few specs to hopefully help out: - T-Mobile user, phone is stock but unlocked/rooted. I've flashed a different kernel (Franco) but that's it. I live in Los Angeles, and this wasn't an issue with the old N6, but first made it's ugly appearance on the 6P. Wi-Fi calling is always on and preferred. I can literally pop my SIM out and into the old phone, and the MMS will send/receive just fine. It appears to be a 6P problem. I've tried disabling WiFi Calling but it doesn't resolve the issue.
ADDED NOTE: I primarily use Messenger, but I switched to Hangouts to see if it rectified the problem. Same problem persisted. Same with Textra.
I've had experience with flashing other ROMS/radios on the old N6. I'm hesitant to change to a different ROM because I'm pretty happy with how the phone is working with stock, and everything I change can basically be done with Nova Launcher.
I've downloaded the older radio files, and was ready to attempt flashing one of those, but it's very different with this new TWRP 3.00+ and different partitions. My confidence with that has vanished with the new 6.01 partition stuff. If this is a potential fix, any help in that area would be appreciated.
I've also changed and fiddled with the APN settings, hoping the change might improve the MMS issue. It hasn't. I'm using the suggested T-Mobile APN settings that pop up when searching for this issue.
I've been debating switching to Project Fi, but with the absolute reliance on WiFi this hiccup has given me a bit of pause regarding that switch. Specifically because it happens on my home Wifi in Culver City, then the business Wifi in Downtown Los Angeles, across both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi bands.
Just looking for any help or suggestions. Thanks!

It's been this way for me for as long as I've owned an Android device. MMS has never worked over wifi for me....I've owned a Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 as well as some HTC and Samsung devices (quite a few). The only device I've ever owned that it worked on is my Mi Note Pro. Even then, it seems to toggle on mobile data and give it priority over wifi until the message is downloaded. I know this isn't a solution, but just letting you know that this is pretty common.
I've used sprint in the past but am now on T-Mobile

Yes MMS inherently built to use only mobile data.
However SMS applications have setting along the line: enable data when dealing with MMS.
For e.g.
That's what I mean by not being able to send/receive MMS on WiFi.
What messaging app is that?

I think that's a T-mobile issue. I used to get it all the time.

Wifi hotspot not working

Hey Guys, I have a A2017G, running Android 7.1.1, security patch level 1 march 2017, V1.2.0b02. I'm running a dual sim setup, with a second sim just for data. Last night my house internet went unavailable so i figured i would just run a hotspot from my phone. Unfortunately i can turn the hotspot on , and my other devices can connect, but there must me a routing problem as they connect to the wifi but cant get internet through it, all of tem (and i tested 4 devices) give me a "connected, no internet" message. I searched around and found lots of people with the same issue but no solutions.
I tried running just one sim to test if it was a dual sim problem with no change. Also i used to do it with marshmellow with no issues and am not rooted.
Ahh and i poped the data sim on my old oneplus one and it worked flawlessly
Anyone of you had the same issue and/or have a solution?

S10+ Internet Connectivity Issue After Updating to One UI 2.0

So my s10+ (G975-F) was working just fine. After updating it to latest update, it has been acting really weird. The internet would stop working all of a sudden, like messages on messenger would not send, snapchat would not load, same with fac3bpok and chrome.
Anyone else facing thiis issue? Any help would be appreciated.
your mobile signal really poor.... one bar only...
wifi signal also 2 bar only, but... are you sure your wifi connection also running good ?

I have similar issue: No mobile data connection since updating to Android 10 on 12/31/2019. WiFi is working fine. Tried wiping the cache partition as suggested above. Tried restarting, resetting network. Tried calling carrier (Redpocket/Verizon) who did provisioning and taking out SIM card and reinserting/restarting. When switching SIM card to another phone (Galaxy S8+ using Android 9), no issue (Internet worked just fine). But another SIM card on my cell phone (Note 10+) didn't work either. So clearly the issue is with my phone (after the software update), not carrier. Took the phone to local Samsung store on 1/2/2020. Was told I was the first one reporting this since the Android rollout. They suggested factory reset which I am very hesitate to do. Then they suggested waiting for a patch to be released, if there will be one ever.
I am using Samsung Note 10+. I am in California.
Any advice? Thanks

Random mobile data dropouts

Hi all,
I picked up a 8 Pro (IN2023) from Kogan.com with Global rom a few weeks back.
I live in Australia and have a sim with Telstra.
I activated 5G, VoLTE and VoWiFi as they were not active out of the box.
This was done by following this thread.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/help/volte-vowifi-australia-t4095097
This was all done the same day I got the phone.
I've noticed though, that I'm getting random mobile data dropouts.
I'm wondering if these dropouts are a result of making those changes, if its a common issue or I simply have a faulty phone?
Resetting the phone hasn't fixed it.
I do have a replacement phone on it's way, but if it's a common issue, then I would rather send it back than having to go through the setup process again only to find the issue is still there.

Calls dropping, data dropping, trouble sending/receiving MMS

I have the OnePlus 7T Pro Mclaren 5G, on tmobile with the latest OTA firmware 10.0.40.HD61CB. It drops my calls, sometimes won't even allow me to make calls, sometimes data does not work. When connected to wifi wifi calling and texting works. I called OnePlus, and they blame tmobile. I contacted tmobile and they don't seem to know anything or care. I have 2 automatically generated bug reports. My phone alerted me there's a bug and it generated a bug report. I am not sure if these are related to the problem. But I would appreciate help, I do not know how to interpret these reports.
I have rebooted, cleared cache, reset network settings. Tried adding an APN from the tmobile support page. turned 5g on and off. Nothing made a difference.

I'm running into the same issues you're having. I thought it was my phone only, so you'tr not alone in this. I did noticed that the issue started after the Oct. security patch 10.0.40HD61CB, my sms would sometime come in late or gets stuck on data or wi-fi , my call would suddenly drop or doesn't even connect at times. I'm on the same boat friend, until our voice is heard through Tmobile with enough complaint and hopefully they can fix this bug. Hopefully somebody have already figured out the solution and maybe shed some light.
If you run lineage or the other aosp rom the problem goes away. I was having the same issues as well. Missing calls unable to send texts or receive them sometimes.

This. I was getting super frustrated by not being able to use my phone as an actual phone. I have Ting Mobile which uses TMo, and I was having the same issues. I was on the Stock Rom and ever since switching to the Illusion Rom, I haven't experienced those issues anymore. It sucks that we have to do that. Imagine being non-technical and oblivious. I'd be so pissed after buying this phone. I think this is a OnePlus issue and not a carrier issue.
