This is a long shot but I have a rooted Galaxy S8 with LightRom on it (Android Pie). Today I wiped Cache + Dalvik cache using TWRP and when I restarted it it went through a short "optimizing apps" phase.
After it was done I unlocked my phone and found like 50% of my apps (random apps no specific category) just crash. If they have a loading animation, they go through that animation but then instantly crash.
Is there anything I can do without completely wiping it? i have a TWRP backup but I'm moving houses rn and don't want to take the hard way out for now. Please help

Hello. I have a stock 4.5.91 At&t Atrix, unrooted, and with a locked bootloader. When I booted up today, some applications that are in my Media Area had disappeared. In the Manage Apps section, it lists them in com. form. For example, Tank Hero is named com.clapfootgames.tankhero. When I try to move these apps back to the phone or clear their data, the system says they don't exist. Rebooting doesn't help, and I don't want to factory reset, as I have 90+ downloaded apps.
I'd try clearing the dalvik cache and cache partition. Not sure how to without cwm. Faced the same issue couple of times...

Upon rebooting, the apps were restored, but I know this problem will persist. I'll live with it until I root (which I'm very tempted to do). Thank you for the reply!
I was flashing CM9 from CM7 on my Motorola Defy, botched it up intially due to a slip of my finger which led to me to Clear the cache first. But then I restarted the entire process by Clearing Data -> Installing -> Flashing Kernel and so on...
But when I tried to clear the Dalvik Cache, the phone didn't delete it. It didn't give me a message that it wiped the cache, but it didn't say otherwise either. This led me to believe that the cache just didn't exist anymore.
As a result, I'm unable to install apps - Says there is no memory and I need to make more. Also, everytime the phone comes on is treated as the first time. It takes me through the whole process of Setting up an account and everything. This has rendered my phone obsolete.
Please help me!
Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Solved, just flashed the stock SBF. But is that the only solution?
Just upgrade my 16g Nexus 7 to CM10.1 M2. After restart everything is fine but the device keeps on showing "upgrading" on every bounce as if the dalvik cache is getting cleared.
It only takes a few seconds but am noticing that SU shows messages about apps granted root...
Also I noticed my background will from time to time reset to default and my notification icons in status bar don't always show.
Tried to uninstall ti backup, wipe the cache again to no avail.
Upgraded to the latest nightly... Still no luck.
Trying to avoid having to do a full wipe. Any ideas?

Wipe and reflash.
Whenever flashers have odd things happen, it is a common mindset to wipe and reflash. Just be sure you wipe system and factory reset before flashing.
Just seems to be just so much work for what this actually do... Device otherwise works fine.
Trying a different supersu package... Will probably give it a few more days before doing anything since its just so minor...
I've been scouring the web for an answer to this but can't find anything that helps.
Every time I reboot my device it says, "Android is upgrading" and "optimizes" 2 apps. I wouldn't mind this that much if it didn't delete my saved wifi passwords every time and behave really slowly for a few minutes after boot.
Things I have tried:
-Clearing Dalvik Cache from recovery boot (no effect)
- Switching to ART (when device reboots it's still in Dalvik)
-Deleting .odex files from data/app (there were none)
-Uninstalling Titanium Backup (no effect)
I am rooted, but have not tripped knox. I have frozen knox and context service with titanium backup as whenever I would boot I would get an error message from these that would not go away. I am running the stock rom from SamMobile (installed using Odin).
I would greatly appreciate help, as I am struggling with this and I'm sure others are too.
Thanks!

Hey!
I think the only thing you can try is a full factory reset. Backup your data and try wiping it. It might help you. Can you tell me which firmware are you using??
Hi, thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention I have factory reset as well. Where can I find my firmware?
You will find it in the about phone page in your settings... U can post the screenshot here I'll help u out
Hello!
I have Resurrection Remix on my phone and it has frozen, when I was searching on the Internet. I rebooted it, but I can no longer enter to the system, because it stops every time on the 'starting apps screen. I've already wiped cache and dalvik, tried several times to reboot, but nothing happened. Have you got any suggestions?

Did you flashed the correctly Gapps? Sometime that is a Trouble.
Go back to the Recovery, clear System and do a new clean Flash (System + Gapps). That should fix the problem .
Good luck!
Thank you for your fast answer, but that didn't help. But now I wiped everything, reinstalled the ROM, and now I can't restore my stuff with Titanium Backup. And I would be very happy, if could boot up the previous. And the same thing('Starting apps error) happend to me with Mokee ROM. The phone works perfectly, suddenly it freezes, and after I can't boot into system. What could be the problem here?
