I was kind of surprised I thought it sounds better than My A71, at least to me it does.
I know samsung has never been known for their sound quality but this does sound a bit better, but It's no flagship quality.
Sound is quite loud in terms of general usage but can be completely muted with fingers on the speakers grille . Dual speakers for this device should have been given like the s9 series.
room for improvement via update for bass or something. Nevertheless they provided Dolby Atmos in headphones at least with improves sound in headset by miles.
More loudness needed.
Speaker is not upto the mark.
It should be more louder.

About its Speaker Volume, honestly i would vote 3.5/5 . Its speaker volume is not loud enough for outdoors usages.
However i believe the clarity out of what you can hear is good after all.
Its Earphone/Headphone Sound is good, along side Huawei Histen Sound Effects makes it even better. i would rate around 4.5/5 here for headphone sound.

While the speaker on the Honor Play is decent, it's not as loud as i'd like it to be. But the quality is really nice and there's no distortion.

This is what my experience has been so far, having purchased this device on 13/10/2018
Speakers can achieve a decently loud volume, voice clarity in ear speaker and phone speaker during calls is very clear.
Though, the speakers themselves are quite tinny compared to my friend's iPhone XS and a family member's note 9. There also seems to be some very minor audio distortion when cranking the volume to max.
Other than that, for the price range the device has a good pair of speakers and is way better than a single bottom firing.
It won't be as close to the '1k phones' in quality but you won't be dissapointed either.
Have you spoken through the handsfree while driving a car with an open window? I think that the volume is very bad

I compared the sound quality to my pocophone f1. I can say it is louder, but not sounding better. Depending on the kind of sound, the poco f1 has deeper tones.
loud speaker: poor
F1 was way much better and louder
Phone speaker
Only speakerphone works during calls, can't use normal phone mic on my k20 pro, but it works when I reboot the phone.
Is this a software issue or do I have a problem with the phone?
For my Indian device, it has good sound but clarity is average.

As well as its speakers,
Cirrus Logic CS35L41 Speaker Amp x2
360 Reality Audio hardware decoding
Dolby Atmos tuned by Sony Pictures and Sony music
DSEE Ultimate
are exclusive and make its analog jack perform better than others subjectively.
Without turning on the Dolby Atmos, the speakers sounds horrible. It sounds hollow, tinny, and vibrates way too much, and thats before turning on that vibration effect. The vibration effect pretty much does nothing to enhance the experience and makes your hand goes numb from it constantly vibrating.
Turning on Dolby Atmos made the speaker sound a bit better, its clearer and doesnt sound hollow at all. But I still think my 2 year old Note 9 still sounds a tad better than the Sony. At least the Sony doesnt have downward firing speakers.
share ur atmos eq settings here

Loudness is okay (I guess average nowadays), but the speakers sound thin. The top "speaker" (read: amplified earpiece) only plays rather high frequencies, but is decently loud for what it is. Don't forget, there is not much room behind it.
The bottom facing speaker does not well with lower frequencies. Don't even expect good lower mids. Base is nonexistent. All in all I'd give this setup 3/5.
It is true that the mobile does not sound very good listening to music or in calls, but the sound is not bad when a general equalization is made, in my case I use the playstore application Wavelet, and I adjust the best sound for everything.
