OnePlus 8 Pro on Verizon 5G? - OnePlus 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying the OP8Pro, but wanted to keep myself "futureproof" for a few years. I also see a few options for buying the "international version" of the phone...
Will the US version work with Verizon 5G, presumably as they expand the network?
Will the international version work?
I see a few places listing the "band" and "frequency" but nothing I find matches up for CDMA, LTE or 5G so I'm confused.

Verizon is using mmwave for their 5G. Only the Oneplus 8 5g will work with Verizons 5G.

USA: xt1644 on AT&T network.

Here's a simple question that gets shockingly complicated.
I have a xt1644 on AT&T, and have my previous phone (zenfone 2) on T-Mobile.
When I used the zenfone 2 on AT&T I could never get an LTE signal, but when using the zenfone on Tmobile i get LTE all the time.
On AT&T, my zenfone said it was in HSPA mode. Now my MG4+ also shows in HSPA.
Interesting sidenote. I travel across the country, and it doesn't matter what market I am in, same results across carriers (no lte on AT&T, but get it on Tmobile.)
Is there any way to figure out what bands which carriers are using, and perhaps add the LTE band for AT&T to my XT1644 radios???
Yes, even I am confused.. but that's it in a nutshell.
Ongoing question: any good roms out of testing for US/xt1644??
Mark
I am using the Cellmapper app. If you are rooted, it can read the LTE band frequency directly from the Qualcomm radio.
I have used the XT1644 with both metroPCS (T-Mobile) and now Cricket wireless (AT&T) and the latest has more consistent LTE connection.

Redmi 3s with lte?

So there is a version of the Redmi 3s and 3s prime that is sold in Mexico that supports 4g lte (called only 4g in here)...
I was wondering, does it have different hardware? Or were the antennas for mexican 4g already there and activated via software?
I'm really confused on the subject and can't find any info as to why some xiaomi phones work with mexican 4g(Which uses some bands that are also used in the us).
I'm considering buying this or the 4 prime and was wondering if there could be a way to activate global lte on the 4 primer later on.
I was also wondering if I NEED to buy the phone in here to be able to use the 4g or if I might be able to pick up a phone from aliexpress and have 4g too.
Hope someone can help me with this info
The hardware is different but you can also get the LTE (4G) version for Mexico on Ali Express.
In Mexico you use LTE band 2 (Movistar: 1900 MHz) and 4 (AT&T,TelCel: 1700 MHz). So when you want to buy a Redmi 3S on Ali, make sure you buy the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Special Edition. It supports the LTE bands needed in your country.
!!
Thanks! =)
I was reading on sites that list the specs of the device but couldn't find anywhere that said that it supported lte bands 2 and 4 so I was quite confused. Thanks a lot.

5G E vs LTE vs 4G

Hey,
I had AT&T simcard inserted into AT&T version of S10+ - it shows 5G E. Inserting same simcard into S10+ Unlocked US version shows LTE.
Then when I inserted same simcard into non-US version of S10+, it suddenly just shows 4G.
However when going to *#0011# it shows LTE in all cases.
What is the difference? Is there any?
5GE doesn't exist, your phone isn't even equipped to work on 5G, it's just a thing your American carrier are doing to mess around.
https://mashable.com/article/sprint-sues-att-fake-5ge-icons/?europe=true
This is complete crap AT&T is doing. Basically fake news made by AT&T.

LTE = 4G = 5GE (ATT). In the US 4G can also mean HSPA+ for T Mobile (opposed to 3G or H icon). 5GE encompasses LTE/LTE+.
ATT wants to deceive customers into believing their 5G network is live, even tho that's not the case. Pai (FCC) doesn't seem to be bothered by this. He's busy reducing broadband for the impoverished, crippling availability of internet for rural areas, or location polling. Should be one of these, but I digress.
5G NR & mmWave infrastructure are not ready just yet on all US carriers; tho VZ will demonstrate their 5G tech with the S10 5G according to Vestberg.

should I buy the IN2020?

Hi! Ive been reading and I did some researching but im still confuse. Is the IN2020 the NA version or CN? With the IN2020 can I get 5g using Tmbile? How bad is it? Is better to wait for the NA version? Which band are missing? Any help please!
I'd like to know as well. Bought mine on eBay and it's IN2020 with international ware. I'm on Verizon with no issues but still curious.
I've got IN2020 via Wonda Mobile for the UK and it works fine, it has been flashed with OOS.
I've managed to pick up 5g via Three which was unexpected as I wasn't aware that there was 5g in that area. It's super fast, faster than my 4g in the city but no way near the ones I see in the US. I believe for the US the IN2020 will be missing a few bands so you might not get all of the 5g networks out there.
If you check Wonda they list what bands the phone caters for.
Yeah I have it on tmo in USA and I get 5g works great!

Really? I heard it was missing tmobile's band?
How much download speed were you getting via 5g?
it might show 5G but i doubt it's getting the throughput.
I saw this on chinese a OP7 showing 4G and was just getting 3G speed since it's missing Band 20

Strange the indicator states I have 5g but getting 60mbps, nowhere near the 1gb/sec.
I dropped down to 4g and got 30mbps. I wonder what's going on?
Could be that indicator just says it has 5g as a previous user stated. Damn, sux that it isn't actually 5g but eh works well enough for me.

Okay so after some digging here is what I found: This ebay listing where I purchased my device:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/OnePlus-8-...hash=item342648c8ac:m:m9cL3Ly1MTYuW6lfrhtO1Xg
It states: 5G band 41(2500), 78(3500), 79(4700)
same here: https://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_8_pro-9919.php
Looking at the t-mobile website: https://www.t-mobile.com/support/coverage/t-mobile-network
it states: Frequencies that can provide 5G:
Band n71 (600 MHz)
Band N260 (39 GHz)
Band N261 (28 GHz)
Band n41 (2.5 GHz)
so... t-mobile USA supports it?
I just received the IN2020 version today but the OEM unlocking is greyed out????

TMobile 5g speeds are about the same as 4g rates. Maybe a 10% improvement but not much difference. Sometimes my 4g speeds are faster than 5g. Obviously their network needs some help, lol but it'll get there.

Yes this phone support n41 but we don't know can it use US band B2 / B4 as anchor band for n41. Someone please test this in 5G-area. Please then send log to me. Here is instruction how to get log file: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...droid-phone/#OnePlus,_Oppo_and_RealMe_devices and that log file can send to https://cacombos.com/contribute so i can parse log if support n41 in USA. on Cellmapper App example should see then 5G State Connected when really connected to 5G-network. Don't trust 5G icon because it appear from UpperLayerIndicator message.
I have listed some 4G combos supported in T-Mobile USA network: https://cacombos.com/device?model=IN2020&combolist=america_tmus_plmns .

Yes I have already done this recently thank you. How can I find if there is a 5g tower near me that supports n41?
Can you point me in the right direction to learn about anchor bands and how it works?
Thank you!

I don't know if in USA have any map where used different frequency. n41 is used in Sprint network but should be available for T-Mobile customer after merge.
Current 5G NR NSA (Non-Standalone) network require 4G LTE for signaling - data could transfered LTE+NR or LTE / NR depends configuration. 5G SA (Standalone) then works only with 5G band but i think take few years to get implement to network.
T-Mobile's N71 is one of the most exciting things to happen to phones. 600MHZ 5g? I would definitely get the IN2025. I just grabbed a IN2025 from Amazon for $899 because it has a damaged box

TMobile 5G

Hey guys, I own 7 pro and going to be buying this next week. TMobile has amazing 5g in my area(gf has 7t pro 5g McLaren and gets amazing 5g speeds). Does this phone also work with TMobile 5g?
It works great with T-Mobile 5G. Speed bump isn't huge but it's there and will get better once they deploy their mid band network.
