Hi, I'm planning to try some KitKat ROM for my Mi2S. What you can recommend? It doesn't needs to be based on MIU, but it must be fast stable and battery safe.
I read good recommendations for MoKees ROM, but I want have more tips from you guys.
Thank you for any tips
Hello, Mokees Rom is a very good rom, with tones of features, but I prefer official CM11 from M1cha. It's not so "heavy" and for me it's ideal for daily use.
Hi, thanks for the tip. I'm currently on the MoKee, but I will probably test also official CM. MoKee is fine, but not so slight as I expected. I must say that old MIUI v5 was better.
Im using omni as daily. Personally I think micha's kernel is better than mokee one. The best thing is test the ROMs you might be interested and choose the best for your needs
I'm just testing latest sMIUI v6. I was fighting with some some settings ther, but finally I fixed most of the issues, so I will probably stay for some time with this ROM. Anyway the performance still to perfect as with MIUI v5.
what about battery usage?
battery usage seems to be fine. cannot say objectively, because my usage differs in last days, but its approx. 1-2 days. i'm still using, wifi, bt, gps, & data
Ihave tried many roms and I have to say that the pacman is so far the best cause is the one with most customizations. Love it.
Not sure how this thread lasted this long but.

Just wondering what the best ROM is I should download from here and install. Not overly fussed about battery life as I'm never far from a charger so what I'm after is a ROM that offers the very best performance possible from the G4's limited specs.
So far I have tried OctOs's MM ROM which wasn't that great and had compatibility issues with some Xposed modules and Beanstalk CM Based which I'm currently rocking now and is pretty good but experiencing force closing on various things I use daily.
Input would be greatly appreciated as this will be the phone I am stuck with for the next couple months.
Cheers, guys.
Bump.
I'm also curious to find out which ROMs can be used as daily drivers. Ive tried a few. Not receiving calls on the rom I'm using atm. Calls on 4g and a working torch/chop chop would be nice
Ressurection Remix with ElementalX and latest kernel. I'm on the 64gb/1US variant and that combo works best for me. Xposed modules seems to break too often for my liking.
I tried Resurrection Remix and unable to find app usage data access is this bug..? any stable custom rom which I can use as my daily driver
I got zero issues with orion
Yeah I tried Orion and it's pretty good. Right now I'm still using Beanstalk with the ElementalX kernel and it's by far the best I have come across to date. Very fast, very fluid and I find it to be more than adequate now I have found fixes for a few bugs and installed LSpeed.
Best stability? Use the stock 6.0, rooted if you must. Add ElementalX if you feel that you need to tinker, but stay away from Xposed.
"stay away from xposed" was independent from "stability", right? I got 13 modules running without any issue on both stock and Orion. Never had an issue trying modules on this phone.
Running more than a couple Xposed mods creates battery excessive battery drain from my testing.
I got between 5 and 7 hours of Sot consistently.
Cheers guys. Appreciate the input, helps alot
I don't see any comparison in this subforum.
Perhaps we can compare and discuss different ROMs
Which do you like and why?
I only really test CyanogenMod 13 and Lineage OS.
Can I add something ---
Which ROM is best for GAMING?
Ah ah I just had the same question. I wondered why there were so many flavors of Lineage Os, and what were the difference. For the moment I have tested only stock (Alxndr's rom) and Lineage 14.1 Official.
- Lineage OS offical is great. The fingerprint recognition is lightning fast, and the rom is globally fast. There are lots of customization and options.
- Stock has however a better battery life, Ultra Power Saving Mode, camera and dialer.
I don't do gaming. However, I can tell the performance in antutu is equivalent (+/- 53.000). Stock had a better 3d score (11.000, vs 8.000 for LOS) and should do better for gaming.
My dream would be a Lineage OS with ported touchwiz framework for edge, camera, sms and dialer. Or a S7 nougat rom with ported LoS fingerprint.
I am running Vaniraosp these days.

And why
I am using LOS at the moment and it blazing quick the only thing is that my phone heats heat up!!
Resurection remix for customisation. Fast and very good battery life base on AOSP.

AOKP seems to have everything working that i have come across and gets nightly updates i like Cr Droid but was still getting rotation issue Kltedv hopefully that will be sorted in the next update
Official linage
Tried LOS, Resurrection Remix and crdroid. LOS is good but seems so vanilla in front of RR and crdroid.
I like features. Resurrection Remix has the most features. crdroid is similar but slightly less features, but excellent battery life of all.
I switched back to RR from crdroid in the hopes of getting battery life improvement with boeffla kernel, forcedoze, hebf optimizer, but not seeing it so far. May go back to crdroid.
@freefourlife
Battery life with crDroid so much better? Any disadvantages?

No. Minor additional features in RR. Planning to switch back, as I couldnt get similar battery efficiencies even with custom boeffla kernel
I feel safer and more stable with official lineage OS, but this is only illusion in my head.

You are in for a treat for v 2.1 when it will be released. They are improving it a lot in terms of performance and battery life.
based on stock mm, great bat life, nice mods on stock SUPERLite MiNi MM *361mb*
i tested AICP, LOS and CrDroid i want to test AOKP, the most developed was AICP, but the battery life and the ram usage was the worst, but it was the better choice, all the things worked, but i prefer LOS, Crdroid it has a lot of bugs in 2.0, i don't tested the 2.1 but a few users said that the sim card is not detected so i will wait, it has the best battery life compared with the other roms but a lot of things aren't working so it's not the best thing and LOS is vanilla but with little customizations, so it's really cool, the dev's can improve the battery life but, i think that if you use LOS is ok for daily use.
I really like LINEAGE OS official. But I use custom TW roms just because I prefer TW camera . So I hope to use LINEAGE OS with ported TW framework for stock or N7 camera .

Never tested AICP, but there are daily updates I see.
crDroid has different problems I recognized that, too. And few updates.
I only have a very small test with AOKP, everything seems working.
At the moment using LineAge OS with (nearly) no bugs. Battery life is OK, but not perfect. Performance seems good, no problem at the moment.
But I'm always interested in other ROMs or interesting features etc.

why, you can use any launcher you like
Can anyone suggest me the best stable rom ..And a suitable kernel ...I'm flashing for the first time ..So please help
I have been using Validus-athene-7.1.1.Release.13.7-OFFICIAL-20170319-1903! and I have faced no problems so far, it is smooth as butter and substratum works like a charm! It has a built in magisk instead of su which really helps!
The best is subjective. My favorite is Ressurection Remix but for some reason the notification light doesn't work for missed calls and voicemails and that really bothers me for some irrational reason. If you like the Moto camera, it will work without having to remove any system files.
I am using Tesla which has been working great. There is something about RR I like better but have forgotten what it is. Validus is an awesome time as well.
Most of the other ROMs seem really good as well but I can't get the Moto camera to work with them. I have to reboot to get the pics to show up in the gallery, Google photos etc.
The best and most fun thing to do is try them all. A day without flashing is like a day without sunshine.
The only good custom kernel ATM for Athene is ElementalX. Vegito and Quark have very buggy hotplug implementations so there's a lot of jank and lag. ElementalX keeps the 4 powersave cores enabled all the time, but also has a slight overclock, sound control, color control, and a bunch of other features as well.
Custom ROMs are also subjective in terms of UX. The majority of ROMs out there are LineageOS-based, and all are pretty smooth and functional.
Beanstalk is a very solid ROM that I've used. Stock ROM + ElementalX is also a very good combination.
In my opinion, the best in terms of:
1. Customisation - RR, AICP, Validus, DU
2. Stability + useful additions - Invicta, CypherOS
3. Close to stock + Behind the scene optimisation - Jerome's Creampie with Nougat (basically ODE-XED stock Moto ROM) or just Stock ROM with EX kernel
4. Battery life (subjective, but based on average opinion) - Invicta, Oct-OS
I wouldn't recommend LineageOS yet as it still is jittery and unfinished to me - needs more time.
I haven't tried AOGSPX, TipsyOS, Tesla, Beanstalk and Darkness redefined ROM so can't comment. Maybe you should
AOSP-CAF Pure, AICP, CarbonROM, DU development is relatively stunted and unofficial versions so updates aren't as reliable I guess.
In my opinion no kernel comes close to EX. Actually most inbuilt kernels seems pretty optimised. Lineage + EX and Stock + EX seems pretty nice. I also think some of them ROMs have EX commits baked in so not much of a difference.
Have a nice day Happy flashing!
Ok, fine, I'll make a decent list of ROMs and kernels here:
Kernels: Nothing but ElementalX. LOS incorporates EX commits, or vice versa, idk. Regardless, @flar2 's kernel is by far the best if your ROM lacks some TCP config/io schedulers/sound control. Most ROM kernels are generally stable regardless.
ROMs:
So far, I have tested:
- RR- stable, customizable
- DU- stable, customizable
- LOS 14.1- stable, limited in customization, but naturally better than stock
- LOS 14.1 OMS (now Invicta)- stable, customizable with OMS
- AOSP-CAF- fast, stable, great battery life, limited on the customization
- Slim7 UNOFFICIAL- same as above
- Slim6- stable, good battery life, but unoptimized and stuttery
- Temasek CM13- stable, meh battery life, performance is slightly better than Slim6
- CM13 UNOFFICIAL- same as above
- GZR Tesla- fast, customizable
- AOSPExtended- slow and laggy even after repeat flashes and wipes, like wtf? Very customizable however.
- AOKP- meh, somewhat laggy, good customization
- BeanStalk- one of my favorites- fast, customizable, good battery life
- OmniROM- also a good ROM- fast, somewhat customizable, stable
- Stock with EX/Magisk- extremely stable, but it's never been as good as a clean custom ROM. Other people may argue with me though.
My list of favorites are the following:
- AOSP-CAF
- BeanStalk
- OmniROM
Huge shout out to the new PureNexus build that was released today! Will update this list after testing it.

Thanks for the info !
I've tried AICP and lineage, both Oreo. Both had just don't run well when compared to stock ROMs. I see an OG pixel with similar hardware operate as smooth as butter. Any smooth ROMs?

Hi. I am currently with aosp extended 5.4 and it works very well between this and Validus 1.7 I think they are the best I've tried, in my opinion.
Oreo for our device as of now isn't in good state if you want the stability. Big battery drain and some minor different problems here and there are present in every oreo rom.
I'd suggest some stable nougat roms like omnirom, mokee or paranoidandroid. Battery life is good and phone feels perfect in everyday usage.
Aicp is one of the smoothest very good in nearly every way as is aosp extended, lineage,RR,aosip, validus and some I've missed (all oreo)are really good.I don't experience the lag and instability and battery is pretty good too.
