I'm thinking of resetting the phone to factory setting's in order to fix some overload lagging.
Can anyone suggest me any ROM that will perform better than the stock ROM and has everything working?
* I don't know yet which ROM version it's running (Not my phone).
I see from forum threads that's its kind of tricky to unlock the bootloader in this phone.
Is it worth the trouble or I'm I risking ending in bootloop's?
Thanks everyone!
For what I can see, this phone has some problems with custom ROMs: I didn't see any of them fully functional, and the best ones have some troubles with Camera and/or YouTube. I also was planning on modding this phone, but I decided to stay, for now, with stock rom, rooting it only to disable some Huawei crap and hopefully a (better) control over the kernel.
If someone will discover a pretty stable ROM without problems, please tag me

Hello everyone,
I got a new S8 and am wondering, which ROM to choose. I have used Superman Rom on my S7 for a long time now and was happy with it, despite the fact that I had to wipe with every update.
Titanium Backup made it a lot easier - it still was a lot of work.
So my Question:
Is there a ROM which can be updated without wiping?
What I want is basically ROOT, google apps and if possible the original (or improved) Camera App from the S8. And it schould be stable.
I am aware of lineageOS, but the S8 support seems not to be so good by now.
Thanks for every hint,
H

ok so basically
stock s8 firmware rooted : no more Ota and many root related limitations etc, but maybe able to flash Ota manually not sure
s8 firmware based custom roms: as with every new update the rom is rebased to latest firmware, always clean install always as the rom is a modified firmware, so always different (of course dirty flash might work but often result in issues of all kinds)
and with aosp based roms , most of the time yes, to update you can just flash rom then gapps and then just wipe caches/dalvik and reboot is its the same rom as the rom is the same and in fact just stock android so no big changes between builds.
But yes it's annoying but clean install is ALWAYS the best option, and easy update = no rooting
and for stability, the closer to stock the rom is , the most stable it would be. (and good camera = forget about aosp)
so I would recommend you batstock rom or batman rom (s8 version of superstock or superman), but update without wiping, except on unrooted ... not really
Thanks for your detailed reply - That's what I was afraid of to hear.
I will try to live with the limitations of non rooted stock - otherwise Batman or Batstock will be the next to try.
Hi there, I was thinking about installing a custom ROM on my A1 but i read people are having troubles with unlocking bootloader/installing TWRP since May update. Is there any safe method for doing that? Also, my main concern is to improve camera performance, is there any specific ROM for that? The pixel rom looks good to me!
Thanks in advance
hello,
i'm looking for a ROM, that everything works. Everywhere I read, this or that doesn't work.
I'm looking for something that isn't too old and everything works without a problem.
it is not necessary to have android 9 or 10.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Someone?
I can't guarantee that every single thing will work but blackdiamond n8 is a fantastic rom. You can choose which bloatware apps you want and other settings

Then stay on stock rom its the best one that fits your criteria..
Also depends what you exactly need custom rom for.. you need often to sacrifice on somethings to get another ..
At this point.. if you are new to rooting and custom OS scenario, i recommend staying on stock.. because it is now more complex procedure and gives far more problems sometimes then it gives benefit. Imho the benefits of rooting/custom OSes are degrading slowly to the point where its just a useless hassle..
But ofcourse its everyone's choice.. you want to live on the edge by trying new OSes/new things/features you are free to do.. just make sure you know how to do everything safely, and backing up the vital data, like copying your nv data (the first thing after gaining su access), knowing the correct/safe procedure and please DON'T "ACCIDENTALLY" turn oem unlock off..
I personally recommend gaining su access by SYSYEM LESS methods plus magisk in order to avoid dm verity errors and encryption problems.. it also makes it less likely to mess with your nv data..
See alexndr's system less dev base and custom rom.. its based on stock 8.0 too (i think its all stock) and also stable too
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/rom-dqd1-devbase-v4-1-multi-csc-safe-t3591647/
OR if you want to live on the edge.. backup your nv data and try custom roms like black diamonds, hyper rom, deluxe rom and any other which is being actively updated/supported.. try and find your taste on your own and report problems on their threads (every rom has their problems)
But i would either root stock "system lessly" or flash alexndr's custom systemless OS devbase

Hello Good Evening... Recently there has been a lot of privacy allegations against many of the mobile brands that led me into considering custom ROMs. For the last 6 years, I had been using a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which had a factory unlocked bootloader and hence could flash ROMs and even fix bootloops easily. I am a new Xiaomi user and am considering to change to a custom ROM. Here are the list of things I am looking forward to:
1. Details on the procedure for unlocking the bootloader
2. Custom Recovery recommendations
3.. Custom ROM suggestions and how to get out of a bootloop if I get stuck into one as this is my daily Driver'
4. I really loved the battery life that I was getting with MIUI 11, is there any way to get the same while using custom ROMs, any custom kernel suggestions for PE Rom as I am familiar with it on my old Note 3
Thanks a lot for your valuable time
Regards
Sunil
Hey,
In order for you to unlock the bootloader, you will need to download the xiaomi unlock tool from their website. You might need to wait a couple of days after you press the "unlock" button to get your device unlocked but after that you are good to go.
For Custom Recovery, both TWRP and OrangeFox are viable options.
I haven't experienced any bootloops so far (fortunately) so I can't give you any tips about that topic.
About Custom ROMs I've tried Pixel Experience with Android 10 and I liked it. Google Apps are installed with the rom so you don't need to worry about that and the battery life as more or less the same as the one I was getting with Miui 11. Currently I'm using Lineage OS with Android 10 and the software is nice and battery liffe is better than the one on the Pixel Experience. I ran into some issues because of the Google Apps installation. My device must have a issue with the Pixel Setup Wizard but it crashes every time during the setup process. The only google apps package I was able to install with success was the BitGApps.
Hope some of this information was helpful ?
Can someone comment on Havoc 3.6 vs Lineage 17.1 concerning Battery Life? I am on Havoc 3.6 now and I noticed a considerable drainage difference lately. I checked apps and running services. I saw also this today which confused me a bit.

Want to find a fix to all custom ROM's bootlooping on my SM-J320FN (did not bootloop before)
[
or alternatevly, i was wondering if modifying a some samsung galaxy SM-J320[something] nougat rom, to work on SM-J320FN would be possible (it has only android5.1.1 (lollipop) stock rom as far as im aware and i have searched quite a lot).
]
The thing is, i have the SM-J320FN (twrp and rooted) and for a while i ran various custom roms (based on nougat) on it with no problems. But then about a year ago it bootlooped on resurrection remix (which i had ran with not many problems for 1/2year). Then every custom rom (i tried RR, DotOS, ViperOS and more) began to give me a bootloop, only flashing the stock rom booted.
I wiped and formated everything i could, tried same country stock rom that i had originally and a different country one (thinking maybe the custom roms were not happy with something inside the stock rom that it was flashed after, but logically it does not seem even possible, as before flashing the custom one, the old one is wiped), but custom rom's just did not boot anymore. I could not log the boot either because it had boot animation but nothing showed in adb, i guess it did not get so far that it could connect with adb.
I suspect this may be caused by my camera not working (some hardware part most likely got damaged), because i think wiping my phone completely and flashing stock rom with Odin should restore every software part on the phone thus it would have to be something with hardware that's causing custom roms to bootloop, how else could the problem persist (i obviously might be wrong).
I don't remember when exactly the camera stopped working but i know for a fact that i had a custom rom at the same time, and it did not bootloop (for some time at least) and im also curious why this has not ever stopped the stock rom from booting if it is the case.
So basically what i wish i could do are two things. Firstly find what makes the stock roms able to boot correctly opposed to the custom ones. And secondly implement this to a similar models higher version rom or a custom rom (Nougat). Come to think of this, it seems a useful step to look how did the people that made these Nougat based rom's for SM-J320FN modify the rom so that it could run on it, the source code is open after all.
Why i want to have a higher android version on my phone? Because my countrys corona close contact detection app supports only 6.0 or higher and my banking app recently notified me that they will soon end support for my android version too (this is the real pusher for me as i use it very frequently and there is not really an alternative). And it would be nice to have some other apps too, that not compatible with Lollipop.
And yes, i know, just buying a newer phone would solve all my problems But im a minimalistic (and without money) person. The fact that i own a phone that is still working (or fixable) stops me mentally from buying a new one. Also as one would guess, i like tinkering with this kind of stuff (i study CS currently) and building a rom myself for my phone sounds like a cool and challenging project, as i have not done anything like this before (maybe this will help me: [guide]how to build/modify roms for samsung devices [7.0/6.0.1/maybe more]).
Anyways, i kinda got carried away with this post. But for now im tired and have to sleep so i'll just post this and will come back later to read this over, fix some mistakes (not a native english speaker) and add things i maybe missed.
If anyone read this through, im impressed and if you have the knowledge/time to answer then i Thank You in advance!
i need help i tried to install re dreaux but my phone bootloop on touch wiz custom rom so how can i fix that
