I don't have a clue where to start when it comes to rooting this device, or whether or not it can be rooted. Is it even possible to unlock the bootloader? There's so much conflicting information.
Any advice would be appreciated! If it helps, I'm running Android 8.1.

Hi there,
I am a noob who has been following the threads in this forum and I managed to unlock the bootloader and root my Nexus 4.
Now I apologise if the following question has been asked before, but I did not find an answer that I understood.
Let's assume that in a few weeks/months a new version of Android is released. Can I install it without losing the unlocked and rooted condition of my device?
If yes, any easy (for a noob) to follow tutorial?
Thanks very much.

Next version is probably out later this year, October-November. If you apply the OTA, your bootloader will remain unlocked, but you lose root. You will only be able to root it again, if devs find a way. They usually do, just not necessarily instantly.
Let me start out by saying that I do try and search for my answer. I don't like to start anything before I am 100% confident. I have rooted for a while, but always followed detailed tutorials. I have model number SM-N900T, android version 4.3, Build number ends in MI7.
I keep seeing something about a reactivation lock that is supposed to be under the security part of settings. I do not see one? Am I missing something?
I do not care about KNOX tripping and warranty issues and am going to install TWRP so I can install a ROM. Do I need to root first, or just install the recovery, as the ROM I am looking at says it is pre-rooted?
If the ROM is 4.4.2 do I need to do some update before installing the ROM or will installing the ROM automatically upgrade my android version?
Most of the ROMS I see say 9005? Will these work on my phone?
Thanks for any replies everyone, I'm just paranoid about messing something up.

You are in the wrong forum!
You probably want to look at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-tmobile
(but MI7 might probably be a good thing since with a little care you can keep your knox warranty, however please read in that forum for specifics since there might be certain important differences).
Guys, help me out with my motorola razr m, I couldn't find any way to root my phone and unlock the bootloader. The kernel version is after 3 june and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-m/general/guide-faq-how-to-root-boot-unlock-t2869432 it says it cannot be rooted.
Any other possible method to root my phone, I am desperate to do, Please help me out in this.!!!!!
When people say it's not rootable, it's not rootable for real. Otherwise you'll see people celebrating success. Bear with the fact or try another phone.
T337A Temp root, boot(LP fix).tar, & official 5.1.1 firmware. Help w/permanent root?
I just thought that all of this might help a permanent root be developed. I have no idea how to work the magic that developers here perform all the time. I just thought I would post this information if it helps to get a permanent root on the T337A running 5.1.1, and politely ask that if anyone out there is able to check this out, I would greatly appreciate it. So, here's my b.s. :
TechNyne66 posted that Kingroot apk temporarily roots T337A and knox is not tripped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/att-tab-4-8-t337a-temp-root-t3301345
I've rooted it this way, but reboot softbricks the tablet. It can be rebooted with the boot(LP fix).tar via odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/rooted-nk2-att-t377a-t2992639
This will boot it back up with a custom logo and root is essentially removed.
In my experience, after all this has happened, the battery life sucks.
Now the 5.1.1 firmware is available here, to fully return to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/general/official-att-lollipop-firmware-tab-4-sm-t3439252
Just throwing it out there. Maybe people have seen all of this and it doesn't help at all. It just sounded like it could be toyed with, now that there's an official firmware for 5.1.1 available. Anyone I could approach with this to ask for help? I don't want to go bugging people though...
If you read all this shiz, thank you.
Nobody? Is there anyone who could help, or direct me to someone who can possibly help with rooting the T337A with this information?
Hey everyone ! I've looked at countless threads and youtube videos and have learned a lot already but I admit I'm new to the root process. I joined this forum because I'm an android lover and want to unlock the full potential of my phone (delete unwanted apps, run lineageOS, improve battery life, etc.) and I respect you guys being extremely knowledgeable on the subjects.
However my issue is finding a way to root my phone in a "please explain like I'm 5" process without bricking a brand new verizon samsung galaxy s5 900V.
Currently I am running Android 6.0.1 and from my understanding I cannot root my phone because I have a Toshiba CID 11 which means I would have to flash back to lollipop 5.0.1 first. Unfortunately I have yet to find a simplified up to date thread on flashing my firmware back to lollipop and I could definitely use some better guidance on those steps.
Once I figure out how to downgrade my firmware, my next step was going to be to start the process of rooting the device and then possibly update firmware back to marshmallow once I figure out the necessary steps.
If anyone out there can help "dumb down" this process for me and offer some clear, organized steps I would be forever grateful for your kindness. My end goal is to have an encrypted device running lineageOS and superSU along with any other necessary applications involved with rooting and also to remove much of the "bloat" from my device. Any help is appreciated and thank you for your time !
