I get multiple notifications stating "ok google" model update download failed and I cannot activate the 'ok google' hotword feature .
I installed LineageOS 17.1 using the following instructions https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/mata/install
Version: lineage-17.1-20200803-nightly-mata-signed
Recovery: lineage-17.1-20200803-recovery-mata
OpenGapps: open_gapps-arm64-10.0-micro-20200808
I use Magisk: Magisk-v20.4
If anyone has had this problem before me I would be interested in hearing how you fixed it.
I wanted to provide an update .
I fixed this issue by forcing an update to the " google " app which contains assistant. Then I reactivated the voice match in settings and everything worked.

Hi good4y0u,
How did you go about "forcing an update" onto the google app? I am having the same issue as you did on my OnePlus 6 (enchilada). I am new to Lineage OS and would appreciate your help.
Thank you
Edit: Nevermind I figured it out. For future people: download the Google app from APK Mirror and install it either via adb or directly on your phone.

I disabled it then re-enabled forcing a download and update.

I had this issue and had tried all the suggestions about updating to latest version, getting versions from APKMIRROR, none worked.
The Voice Model option was completely missing from my google settings menu & when I tried to turn on Hey Google, I kept getting a "Problem Connecting" message.
Eventually I copied the version from my working Nexus 7 with Lineage OS 17 (Google app v 11.26.7.21 arm).
This then allowed me to enable the Google Voice via:
- Google App
- Settings (or 3 dots)
- Google Assistant
- Assistant Tab
- Phone (or Tablet, under Assistant Devices)
- Turn on "Hey Google" and then train voice match.
Haven't tried re-installing latest ARM64 version since, may try later .

I heard there was a bugged version of opengapps. That may have been the root problem and what was happening with voice match may have been a symptom. I have not had the problem occur again.

What does that mean? (I am new to this, sorry if this is a stupid question.)
Do you mean you downloaded the 17 GApps, found the package somewhere in the archive (how?), copied it into your 16 GApps, and flashed it again?

I keep finding that my NP has rebooted itself into custom recovery TWRP.
My suspicion is that it's automatically attempting to apply the last security update and finding the custom recovery and therefore failing. This ultimately means it's rarely available to cast to and always has to be rebooted or unplugged so that it's restarted prior to any intended use - which as you can imagine is extremely frustrating.
My device is rooted running latest 5.1.1 with custom recovery.
How can I manually disable this ota application? Anyone know of any build.prop amendments or can i side load servicely and do anything....
Cheers

I second the aforementioned question. Want to know the exact same thing. Currently running LolliRock 2.1 but considering going stock, rooted, and Xposed route possibly under 5.0 to keep the 3 dot menu support but wanted to disable OTA.

Download an app called autostarts and I forgot where it is the app but something to do with otaupdate you disable, Google what I explained xD sorry its been a while wince I did it
Best way I found is, just after you setup your NP, go on google and change your gmail password. That way your NP won't have connection with Google Play... but this has cons as well, as you won't have access to update/install new apps from google play, so only do this after you have setup your NP with all the apps you need.
Apologies, found a solution in another NP thread and forgot to post the answer.
I'm still on v5.1.1
See below, although as you read

Yes. Sideload the "My Android Tools" app which is available at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.myandroidtools&hl=en. After it's installed on your Nexus Player, open and configure it as shown here by using a mouse but you will need root access for this to work.

Unfortunately this also stops your applications from being able to update.
When updated through play they said 'install pending' when I re enabled the above services they updated.

I haven't encountered any issues with updating apps on my Nexus Player with Android 6.0 or my Nexus 5 with Android 5.1 after disabling SystemUpdateService through the My Android Tools app. The method I described has worked perfectly on both of my devices.
Hello everyone! I have a Blaupunkt Cape Town 940 US android head unit. So far I love it! But...
I am having issues adding/flashing Google Apps to it. It is rooted, and like the title says it is 4.1.1. I can't seem to get the unit to go into recovery, if there is one built into it. I can flash a map update to it from the right side micro SD slot by hitting 'power' and 'home' at the same time from the off position. When I try to flash the 'gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip' to it by the same method, it just errors out and never gives me the option to flash a zip, reboot or anything you would normally see from a flash recovery.
Some of the .apk's in the above zip can be installed and other cannot. I can get the play store to install, but not the services or framework, or anything else from the zip for that matter - I get a parse error. The play store just says it can't connect to the server and has a retry button. It does have a connection to the internet. I can install other 3rd party apps by navigating to the apk from the stock file manager.
Can anyone elaborate on how to flash GApps to this unit, or how to side-load them with the apk's? There is not much info on the net for this unit. I am close but can't figure it out.
Thanks everyone!

I ran to the same problems couple of days ago of trying to install Gapps into my unbranded chinese headunit and figured it out last night how to get Gapps installed. My recommendation for you is as following (Require root access)
1. Go online and search for google installer.apk and system app mover.apk and install both into your headunit
2. Run google installer and look for google play (it's in chinese but you should be able to figure it out by the icon)
3. Click on google play and it should prompts you to install other 4 related google app as well ie. Google framework etc.
4. Once you have all those installed, run system app mover. (This is where you require root access)
5. Search for those 4 related google app that you just installed and move them to system (You have to be clicking on the app and move them one by one)
6. Reboot and you should have google app installed. (The version is quite old but it'll update by itself with the newest version)
Cheers

Hmm, this seems a little risky. Is there an English version of this process? Any other ideas? Thanks boyito!!
easiest way to install google services to the 940 is to send email to Blaupunkt support. They can send you a apk that will install the services. It is not supported but will load without any other things to do. I used it and have had all google's services including email, maps, store and more with no problem.

Hey guys... I downloaded this apk as well but cannot get it to work. The ReadMe!! says to root the device but when following the instructions I cannot find where it is saying to click "touch 6x OS Version". When installing the apk it installs fine but when I open it, it just says reboot when finished but then goes away and never actually installs anything.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Have you seen thre "read me" text?

Excuse me for my bad english but i've got the same problem. In fact, when i unzipped the file, i did not see the file text which was joined:
Please note that you install and apply root on your own risk.
Please copy GSINSTALLER.APK to an USB kay and follow this steps:
1: ROOT device: SYSTEM SETTINNGS -> SOFTWARE VERSION -> touch 6x OS VERSION -> new point DEVELOPER OPTIONS will appear -> select ROOT and confirm it.
2: Install PLAYSTORE: Open APPS -> open FILE EXPLORER -> select EXTERNAL USB -> look for GSINSTALLER.APK and install it -> ACCEPT SUPER USER request -> ACCEPT the UNINSTALL request.
I don't realy understand the final step (accept the uninstall request?) but, after a final shut-off, i've got Google Play on my Cape Town 945
It Worked!

Thanks for the reply. I did see the readme but didn't realize that "touch 6x OS VERSION" meant to actually press OS VERSION 6 times. I'm a little slow sometimes. Anyway I just tried it again and it worked perfectly. Works great!

Anyone using other Bluetooth devices rather than phones? I tried to connect OBDII scanner to my unit but it failed to pair, just like that = "Pairing Failed" message. Have a theory that the unit may have a limitation - to connect only the BT devices with phone/sound services. I was going to use lots of other yummies - BT tyre pressure app, BT front camera, but now I'm not sure...
Hi... This unit does not have the Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) so it cannot be used with an OBD2 interface to display OBD apps on-screen (Torque, Dashcommand, etc).

DISCLAIMER: this is not my work, all credits goes to Jenkins (creator of android N-ify)
Pre-requisite:
Having exposed running on your device.
Steps:
1- download and install this Google app (beta) here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...gle-app-6-6-14-21-arm64-android-apk-download/
2- download and install the latest Android N-ify module (#697) here: https://ci.paphonb.xyz/jenkins/job/AndroidN-ify/
3- once you install them both, activate the module and wipe data and cache of the google app.
4- give permissions to google app. (Don't open it yet)
5- reboot.
And you now have google assistant.
If you can't access google assistant by holding on home button, go to settings--->apps--->advanced--->default apps--->assist and voice input, and then choose google app.
What's the point of making a thread specific to our phone for someone else's work that applies to all MM devices...?
I just shared, that's it
OK Google detection doesn't work properly. I tried using the the original thread's suggestion of training the voice model, then changing the buildprop.
Anyone have any ideas?

what an A-Hole you are. The guy is just sharing something. I would have never known about this unless he posted this and I need this.
Hello Guys, This is a tested method frp bypass for both pixel and pixel xl.
Things needed(Links are available)
1. Android 8.0 ota update file
2. Microsoft account(optional if maps don't work)
3.Bypass file https://mega.nz/#!350kTCDY!Et7FC5KKtLbY7s-Mp_X08zxK3KnAWlWyYNOAVOdGWqg
First I recommend you to update to 8.0 oreo version if you are on 7.1.1 or 7.1.2, the update can be done via adb sideload
here is a link to update (8.0) for both phones
Pixel
http://androidhost.org/ZYYVR
Pixel XL
https://mega.nz/#!oIBSBDQD!l0JtzpVJKWpUyfvNEcojE5-AYC_fs8RVusOH-4nFBPY
after the download boot into recovery and update via adb sideload.
Now you are on 8.0 connect to a WiFi and follow this video to access the browser
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnoG1Ve4v9U
Note: if "Maps" isn't shown then do as follows to launch google app
Turn talk back on, swipe to up+down+left to show global text menu then hit talk back settings>Help&feedback>About switch access for android, then play the video and hit the forward icon "arrow pointed to right" then select Gmail and tap add account and sign in a microsoft account hit next and it will get back to the first sign in menu, now hit "Take me to Gmail" then hit the three lines on the top left then hit settings, now from the top right corner tap the dots and tap manage account then tap continue, Done you are now in settings.
Now in settings goto Apps &Notifications>App info>Google App>>App notifications>Additional settings in the app> then tap feed and hit no thanks, Now we are on Google app, search chrome and in chrome paste this link and download the bypass file https://mega.nz/#!350kTCDY!Et7FC5KKtLbY7s-Mp_X08zxK3KnAWlWyYNOAVOdGWqg(The same file I mentioned at needed files) then install the app and select "Google account manager installer" then select 5.1 version and hit bypass frp from the app and select browser sign in and sign in your google account(this part of the step is available on the above video).
All the credit goes to Atiq Malik, I just mentioned a way to do it without maps.
Also if you'd rather not mess with talkcrap and all those extra steps, do what I do. Hook up USB c cable to another phone (I used Nexus 6p), not sure which USB option I selected but it's either "supply power" or"transfer files". Boom! Files menu jumps up on the pixel and from in there download the phone app from the other device (my Nexus 6p) it can be a pain in the a$$ because if u mess up you'll have to start over again. Once you get the phone apk installed open it and dial *#*#4636#*#* and tap "usage statistics" tap the arrow on top left of the screen to go to the settings menu. Once you're in there if u can't figure it out then u should probably switch to an iPhone because Android really isn't that hard to crack. It's really that simple. Btw I'm on a locked Verizon pixel 8.1 January update. ????

Does anyone know if this works on Android P DP2? Or if my device is already bypassed on Oreo, would the bypass persist through the update?

Can install oreo using adb without usb debugging on? If not, how to turn it on while the phone is locked because of frp?
Getting into recovery life I get the following:
Bl: 8996-012001-1709121620
Baseband: 8996-013053-170804002
Console: disabled
Device is locked
Secure boot: production
What does all that mean? Will I be able to use this method here? And what's my android version? If it's 8.0 it will be great since I can continue? Otherwise can I use adb to install is usb debugging option is off frp is locked?
Actually you are in bootloader mode

The oreo version always supports google account manager 5.1 so just install and input your google account via quick shortcut maker.
the thing that makes the patch different is the way you reach the browser or settings.

I can't enable Ok Google from Google App > Settings > Voice Match, it is greyed out. After I click on it I get a loading screen and a "Problem while connecting" error in a few seconds. I haven't been able to train voice from Google assistant too, whenever I enable assistant and click "Get started", it gives me the exact same error.
I had flashing this ROM with pico gapps at first. Some people have gotten this fixed by flashing nano gapps, but it didn't make any difference for me. Have tried a lot of common fixes - using quite a few old Google app versions, installing Google as system/priv app, changing language to English (US) (I use English (India)), etc.
Please help me out, I needed this functionality very much. Help much appreciated.
