I have used many ROMs based on Lineage OS here.
Testing camera performance especially front camera for selfie.
MIUI camera delivers exceptionally amazing selfies.
I have tested Open Camera on MIUI and the selfie quality went bad, selfies became dull as same as they are in Lineage cameras.
This means the App is the key to better selfies.
If its possible to Port that app, Many users on internet willing to donate for the same.
Also this will improve overall device feel and experience on LineageOS.
If this thread becomes capable to attract at least one developer who shows interest in this we will be lucky.
Participate with your ideas and try to attract Developers here.If you are willing to Donate for this project kindly do mention.
I've seen this happen on every Xiaomi phone I've owned. On all of them there's a thread of people really wanting a port of the MIUI camera, but on none of them is it possible. The MIUI camera is part of the MIUI framework and won't work without it. So unless someone makes a Magisk module of the MIUI framework that plays nicely with AOSP and ports the camera it won't be possible
Guys please participate in this thread.
Participation is only key to get Dev attention.

I just found this MIUI5 port that works on Marshmallow (I don't know if works in Nougat): (Sharing)(APP) MIUICamera App
Maybe this could help to find a way to port the newer versions.

Not useful, people who used it are saying it's working as a normal camera app only.
And I tried, not working in my phone.

I think that is just the app, it doesn't include the low level firmware optimisations. It doesn't work on the MI5,and it's based on MIUI5 which is 4years old. The fact that we haven't made progress post that is testiment to how difficult it is to port the camera firmware. Atm the only solution is dual bootiing, and using a MIUI based ROM if you go out to take pictures (like on a holiday). It's ****ty, but it's what we're stuck with. Google Camera works OK on Lineage for quick snaps anyway.
Wait for next update of the snap camera. I am sure it will rock
I have realized that MIUI has really developed its camera app over the time, even if some other camera app are launched. They will not catchup with this app. Hence if we have a scope to use this existing piece of work we must port it rather than focusing on other means.
I just hope some developer has seen this thread and considering to take on this project.
will a camera port be ever available?
I really like the MIUI camera because the focus peaking option, who else ?
guys I have talked to developers, they are saying that it's not possible to port this camera.
And if it was possible, someone in XDA community would have already ported it like these is Google camera.
So if you want great photos, be on MIUI.
Guys, Sad news is Developers have denied to make any such port.
They say MIUI camera has something to do with Miui framework also this camera is Closed Source.
Sadly in summary If you want to use your phone for camera stay on MIUI only.
Use raw shooting for max quality for both AOSP and MIUI. As it pulls raw data without any touch you can get superrior quality compared to MIUI camera app.
Rocketed from my Mi5

Can someone make a port from the stock camera app on lg's rom to lineageos? Love los but the camera app isnt the best on it ive tried flashing the lg v30 camera on it but it only said stopted working and open camere isnt the best quality. does someone have a port or can make a port or telll me how to get the v30 camera working?
Thanks!
Should do some proper searching before asking such a repetitive question on here! There won't be a port as it relies too much on framework etc
Arnova8G2's Google Camera Port
Hi everyone, this thread is being created to share and have some feedback to help @Arnova8G2 to port the Google Camera for our soc.
I will try to maintain the thread with the latest apk from the dev, in the meantime to help more you can:
Describe your experience (mostly what doesn't work as expected)
Provide logcats: the dev does not have your phone, so logs are needed if you want him to fix stuff (How to take logcats?)
Mention @Arnova8G2 when you post your feedback
GoogleCamera-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V6-Beta17.1.apk
Tried a couple of shots with the apk and pictures tend to have a blueish tone, as for pictures attached @Arnova8G2
The "normal" one is taken with stock camera with the 12mpx sensor, as the other one is not recognised by your GCam's port

For tests before the final version

To make it easier for me to correct Gcam
Download the Camera2 Test app and share the device_info file.

Here you go. Honor 9 STF-L09.
I just needed to change the extension form .html to .txt to be able to attach it.
Working well on my Honor 9 with Oreo running. Thank you
@Arnova8G2 to standardise the responses and bug reporting from other users, which settings you suggest us Honor 9 users to use?
The same defaults as Snapdragon users?
Or some others in particular, given the different soc (if it can impact on image elaboration by the app)?
Is it supports portrait mode?
Hi @Arnova8G2, sorry to bother you but since you haven't posted a new apk for us Kirin users, I'm going to ask: can we use your latest updates from HERE?
Should we try first with the suggested settings and then with others or can you give us some hints?
Thanks in advance and don't worry to ask to try something, we are here to try to have a GCam for Kirins too (at least I to see if can be more improvements with the camera )

Count me in. If needed, I can also provide any help possible, because I would like to use GCam on Honor 9, as that HDR function is great
None of this app are working. Honor 9 with oreo.
I got always this error to free up space.
Please Port it for Honor View10- Honor's Latest Flagship. There are many users who want this port and many guys are into development stuff as they brought it due to the fact that it does support treble.
Btw Google released its algorithm as open source, will this benefit Kirin users?

To fix this error: switch back to system memory as primary, not the SD.
Also the anrova versione of this app do not add any benefits to the camera.
Only the msg MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.3 have some improvements on lowlight, but no portrait mode and if you edit some confing the app will not work on front camera
If you use BSG build, you will understand what I mean when you selected Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL model from the B-S-G settings. Could anyone enlighten me with this situation? I find it so weird that the front camera can do HDR+, but the back camera is left behind.
Can anybody contact B-S-G to help us have, at least, decent camera experience on AOSP? His build are the only one I see the potential to a working Gcam in Axon 7.

It's from the lack of Camera2 API. Though I don't know why the front camera works, i guess because camera2 isnt really needed for HDR front camera

Hi. Which build works best for you guys? I'm in Resurrection Remix nougat and its a bit frustrating with the all the builds i tried is laggy. Thx in advance
We have to contact Arnova8G2, someone said he'd be able to help with this. I sent him a PM but he didn't answer
The best course of action would be to make a bounty though.
It would be awesome to have another option to choose in terms of camera apps. I found this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-nokia-camera-8-0260-50-pro-mode-t3798127
I have good results, but It has some bugs with this device, if someone can port and adapt this app the same as cstark27 did with GCam, we would have really good results.
