Just noticed on the last couple of Roms that there are a number of unused applications running in the background. No particular builds are better or worse.
Why is this the case?
Eg stock MDJFroyo Streak Lite and with all the widjets deleted and a fresh restart I have
Facebook
Gallery
Google Search
Maps
Music
Search
Twitter
Youtube.
Now I don't normally use any of these and have static wallpaper with wifi and bluetooth disabled. No widgets showing.
Is this normal?
Was going to use a tool to prevent these from auto loading.
i use autorun killer to see what runs on boot up
give it a try and disable those you dont need
Ran autotask killer however none of the apps showed up.
This is perfectly normal...using a Task Killer won't work as the app will just start up again soon after you kill it. task Killers are not recommended.
It just means the apps start faster when you launch them...they don't do any harm sitting idle in the background.
search for "AUTORUN killer"
not auto-TASK
I installed 6.0.1 BTU on my 900f, It was a clean install and cleared the cache etc, it ran OK for a week now its sluggish and stuttering. I mean I can close active applications, open say 1 app, then hit the home button, the entire launcher redraws, You'd think there were half a dozen memory intensive apps running in the background.
Anyone else have this?
Hello!
I have a problem with CM13. Since I installed it, android became slower. It often feels like it has full memory and it cannot open new apps, aswell sometimes foreground apps are getting killed (lack of memory?). Going back to "desktop" makes it load again, as it was killed before.
Never had so much problems with memory on stock android. Lately it has even killed waze running foreground twice, while I was using it to navigate.
I dont have much of apps running (checked under developer options - services). Any idea what settings to change, so it doesnt behave as bad as it does?
I know that the S8 toggles some apps into "standby mode" to save energy when they haven't been used for a few minutes.
However, anyone can edit the list of apps that are being turned into standby and there's a few apps (mainly games) that I want to keep active.
Of course those games are not in my list but nevertheless they restart when I launch them agajn from the overview of active apps.
That sucks and I don't really get it.
I had a very cheap China phone with 1 GB RAM before my S8 and although I had about 10 apps opened, my games never restartet if I switched back over to them.
The S8 has 4 GB RAM, yet it restarts my games or is not capable of keeping them open.
Can I do something about that?
Pokémon GO is one of those games. I play it, press the home button, chat with Telegram, open the app overview to switch back to Pokémon and it starts over, showing me the NIANTIV logo and the loading screen.
Does anyone else have issues with their Moto g4 killing background apps that should not be killed? For example, Spotify, Google Maps, and Pocket Cast are all killed if I run them in the background (time delay varies, 30-90 seconds typically), despite having a persistent notification. I have only had this issue on this phone. These applications are not optimized for the battery.
Another question, is there a way to track what is killing apps (to see if it is some unknown app actually killing them)?
