Hello, my wife left her phone in the rain and despite cleaning and drying, I have a non responsive screen. The screen was acting erratically and I could not get her passcode in. I opened the back to gain access to the hardware and I know how to turn it off (remove the battery connector). I also know how to unpower the display etc.
The phone is NOT in USB debugging mode and I cannot get the phone to boot in recovery mode (I tried everything power and - and power and +). I would like to get the data out to the phone.
I think this phone does not have OTG so I cannot get a mouse to control the screen. I now have the connect to mobile network blue screen instead of having the passcode screen. See pics attached. when plugged to a usb computer port, I can see the device, but i cannot access the data.
Thanks.

For the last week I've been forced to a life without my G1. This is the situation:
My phone wont boot. Not normally, not into safe mode (Menu+Power), not into Recovery Mode (Home+Power), not into the bootloader (Camera+Power). Whichever I try it just gives me a buzz and a black screen with backlight on. To power off I have to remove the battery.
Is there a way to bring this device back to life? Any hints are welcome!
Background:
My phone is bought from the US on Ebay (I live in Sweden, Europe) in November. It is not rooted (even if I have thought about rooting it for quite a while), but unlocked and set free from T-mo.
Trouble started when I inserted a new 8GB SD and the phone rang at the exact same time. After that, Android became extremely slow and a touch on the display took several seconds to process. Reboot didn't help, neither did safe mode. Tried with and without SD and/or SIM.
I managed to boot into recovery mode (Home+Power), but couldn't bring up any menu. I had to take out the battery to power off and after that I couldn't boot at all any more (yes, I did put the battery back...). What troubles me most is that I can't even start the bootloader.
Sounds like there is hardware failure, but I could be wrong. Also, can you check to see if the ribbon came lose for the screen? When you have the phone opened look from the bottom of the phone (where you charge) up towards the top and you will see a hole in the screen portion. There should be a ribbon connecting the screen inside this, see if you can make sure it is securely connected.
I'm with Neoobs... Sounds like the screen isn't turning on (you can't power it off without it plugged in).
If the ribbon cable is connected, somehow the screen has been trashed. How or why this occurred when swapping the cards is beyond me. Have you tried to ADB into the phone from your computer?
I got myself a HTC One a few months ago and gave my trusty ol' HD2 to my wife who had just lost her Galaxy S2. The HD2 was always working perfectly. Soon after I gave it to her, she started complaining that the battery drained only in a few hours and that she constantly had to fiddle with it on it's docking station for it to charge.
Yesterday she gave it to me because it wouldn't charge anymore. Suspecting a dirty USB port, I sprayed some "contact spray" in it. I accidentally sprayed a little bit on the buttons as well but I immediately wiped the buttons clean.
Anyway, when I turned it on, the phone was going crazy. It looked like the home key was randomly being pressed. It would constantly go to the home screen or it would display the "Recent Apps" screen (I had flashed MIUI Android on it and the Recent Apps screen is what you get when you long press the Home button). After a while the home button stopped working altogether.
Anyway, it still won't charge. And when I hook it up to my PC, I get the message "USB Device Not Recognized - One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
Another thing I notice is that as soon as I take the phone out of standby, the battery gets hot and it drains very quickly. I already tried a few other batteries (I have another HD2) as well as different USB cables (and chargers).
I also did a factory reset (through MAGLDR AD Recovery) but that made no difference.
So are there some easy checks I can do to narrow down what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance.
I woke up this morning and there was a clock on my phone, I unplugged it and put it in my pocket. I got it out on my way to work and the screen just comes up with snow. Power cycle the device and the lg splash screen the whole screen is filled with snow. Powered it completely off and then back on again and the same thing. It appears the phone is working. I have a screen lock pin and it vibrates when i press buttons that SHOULD be there. I even am pretty sure I managed to unlock it, but when I plug it in to back up the photos on it now the phone just shows up as a cd drive that won't show anything. It still shows up as an LGE VS980 USB device in device manager, I just can't see any data on it. I'm rooted and on Maladus rom.
Any ideas guys?

I was able to somehow get it to read the sd card and pull my pictures at least. Would you guys recommend me attemping to restore it to factory defaults before i take it back even though i can't see the screen? Not sure if i'll be able to complete the process or if it's worth it with the screen being complete snow regardless of what I do.
OPT took a blow to its back, now wont turn on w/o USB & Boot Loops when USB plugged
FML ... ok so my OnePlus Two (A2001) slipped out of my hand while I was using it and the area right under the camera took a hit (not too hard) to the side of a nearby table (Battery was at around 50% last time I checked). Now the bloody thing wont respond, UNLESS i have it plugged in.
While it is plugged in, It either boot loops, with the boot screen being off center (the Word Android is on the bottom left of the screen and the OnePlus logo is on the Center-Left of the Screen, OR it boot loops with the screen perfectly justified when +V and Power is pressed. I had the newest official oxygen 2.2.1 installed on it. At this point I can only get it into fastboot mode using +V and Power. When plugged in and left on it's own, it boot loops with occasional "Low Battery" (with charging light on) but then it reboots again (disabling charging light an charging)
I've had the original OnePlus usb drivers installed on my PC before but plugging it in does nothing. Ive tried the Qualicomm Driver + MSM8994 method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/general/oneplus-solution-hard-bricked-device-t3183449) with no avail. Installing the Drivers manually the OnePlus Two still shows up as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)"
I've also taken it apart to see if there's anything loose/broken. I dont see anything wrong with it. Ive also pryed the battery from the back and detached the battery connector from the motherboard. Then plugged it back in, but it still does everything described above.
Fastboot commands to not work as it just looks for device. Fastboot Continue does not work.
Im running out of ideas..... =( Anyone have any new ones?
Seems like the OnePlus Two doesn't respond well to impact. Mine slid off my desk a few times onto a wood floor and now won't respond at all.
Hello,
a friend of mine dropped his phone into water. However, I dried the phone as good as possible without opening it. Now when I start the phone it gets stucked at the Samsung Galaxy A40 secured by knox display. I let it for hours but nothing happens. When I restart the phone by holding volume down + power and after that I press power + volume up I can enter the recovery mode. Before I make any mistake I wanted to ask if I can get acces to the internal storage of the phone to get back the pictures and videos. May it help to wipe the cache? Or can I install any apk to get the phone connected to the computer?
Kind regards
Stefan from Germany

This site shows the option to connect A40, if still Android 9.0, via usb hub to external screen and mouse and unlock. For Android >10 this doesn't work anymore
I have the same issue and neither usb-debugging on nor fastboot enabled. A40 doesn't show up in adb. So I also read when putting A40 via Power and Volume up into download/recovery mode, at least a backup of data should work.
My current idea is I have to replace display in repair shop or unlock via usb-hub + mouse.
Something I don't get right. How do you power off the A40 without screen to get safely the SIM card out? Power and volume down 7 sec, then release power off, then volume down? When I do this the A40 reboots with vibration. Power and volume up apparently reboots to recovery mode. Long pressing Power also doesn't turn off A40. Also in the A40 manual nothing is written on this
I'm having a similar, but worse problem: a friend of mine let her A40 fall into the toilet at a party. When she came back home, the phone wasn't working anymore and the battery was swoolen. We've tried to dry the phone with the good old bag of rice for a week, then I dissassembled it to take out the battery and see if there was any damage inside.
While there is no visible damage, the phone doesn't give any sign of life, not even with the usb cable plugged in.
So I have two questions: is the A40 supposed to boot without a battery plugged in, just using the USB cable as a power source? In the worst case, is there a way to recover the data from the phone if it's not possible to boot it (I bet the answer to the last question is no)?
