[10 (9th gen)] format to stock - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I guess I bought the wrong tablet for my kid because the stock tablet family management is terrible and no root. I tried to setup a limited version of my adult account with sideloaded google play and blokada but blokada stopped working and the app icon disappeared(or never appeared and I didn't notice till it stopped working). It seems blokada also broke my wifi settings as the network connects but no internet. I tried to reset to factory but I guess that does not reset whatever blokada changed because the network always has no internet. No vpn settings anymore... guess that got changed. I am able to tether to my phone hotspot and get internet but not my home wifi. I suppose I could change the SSID but then I would have to reconfig 2 dozen devs not fun. How can I get the stock ROM? Or, how do I get my wifi settings reset?

created a guest network with a new ssid but same no internet, it dont like this ap for some reason.

Yep, something buggy with 8.8.8.8 haunting DNS entries. Noticed my phone was giving out ip6 dns so I turned on ip6 for my local network and the crap tablet is working now.

[Q] Limited connectivity wifi issue

I just bought a Rogers arc and everything is great so far, except the wifi. For whatever reason when i try to connect to my home network, although it recognizes it and connects i get a "limited connectivity" which effectively does not allow me to use wifi at all. ive tryed rebooting the phone and reseting my router (which is a D-link DI-524.) any help would be appreciated.
you could go in the router settings and register the phones mac address to a ip of your choice. it should do the trick i think...
I finally figured out what the problem was, i had to update the firmware on the router and then manually add the MAC address like dogggie said and after a reboot voila!
I don't want to make another thread since my problem is similar to this one. So in my school there is a hiden Wi-FI network and it has got a password, but we know Name and Password, so we can connect to Wi-Fi. But here is the thing: My friend who has SGS2 connect's without any problems, but everytime I try to connect to Wi-FI i get "Limited Connectivity" mesage. Is there any way to fix this? Can I somehow get Gateway and Netmask from router, so I can set static IP on my phone or sometheing like that?
Thanks for answers.

Zanimivo, na kero šolo hodš?
I have the same problem. Hidden Wi-Fi in school, limited connectivity. Works for some people, doesn't for most.
I have used CM7 for some time and the Wi-Fi worked with it, but I flashed the stock ROM back and now, again, it doesn't work.
Oo, another one form Slovenia Lep pozdrav. Šola je pa TŠC Kranj.
It also worked for me when I was testing Offical Beta ICS, but now I am back on stock 2.3.4 and all I can get is limited conectivity

Same school.
Today it works. I have just manual set gateway, DNS servers, netmask and my own IP.
Cool. Mind sharing the values you used?

Cannot connect to WEP secured network

I have done about everything. I can connect to my Android phone (using tether), my house, other open networks PERFECTLY, but unfortunately my gym uses a WEP network and I cannot get my tablet to connect to their network.
I have rebooted, forgot the network and set it up again (a million times) I have done EVERYTHING. My Android phone can connect to the gym network perfectly. Any suggestions?
Anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone connect to a WEP secured network and know that this works?
I had the same problem and found out the solution changing some values in the set up router.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I'm connected to our home browser which uses WEP. I think it's a matter of settings/wireless and networks/Wi-Fi settings/add wi-fi network. Once you are in the 'add' page, it asks about security, you should be able to input the data.

I have had same problems, honeycomb handles WPA and WPA2 enterprise networks weird compared to gingerbread. I have had problems with connections too. Try to use the "wifi advanced config editor" and make sure settings are correct for that network (after you attempt to connect to it in settings app). I hope google fixed this problem in ICS or i will be furious. Most of these kind of bugs are laziness on coders or just people who missed lines of code and then don't want to release an update (or wait till next update release rather than a hotfix).

So just to make sure I understand...
Basically the way I originally connected was that I let the tablet scan for networks, and it found the gym network. Once it found the gym network, I selected it and entered the password. I left the proxy and DHCP settings alone and pressed connect, and cannot get it to connect.
What you are suggesting that I do is delete the network, and add the network MANUALLY (where I input securtiy, SSID, passcode, etc.).. Is that right?
So I installed the Advanced Wifi tool, to no avail.
Here is the funny thing. I have a Samsung Epic 4G phone which uses Gingerbread, and it connects to the WEP just fine. I installed the Advanced Wifi on there as well, and went through the settings that were autoconfigured for the gym. Each setting matched my tablet perfectly, yet my tablet cannot pull an IP address, but my phone can.
I'm having the same issue. Thought it was the tab, just received replacement and still a No Go! Every other device in my house connects to this network. And the Gtab also connected perfectly until recently... no clue what to do now.

Phone wifi says connected but I have no access

Hey guys, I have a problem and I feel like I've tried all I can think of to try and fix it. I got both my wife and I 2 kyocera rises. We activated them and all that and got them setup on our home wifi.
Well, I noticed that my rise will work fine and surf the net fine but at random times I won't be able to access the internet (Or any internet apps) even though it says i'm connected to the network. It will work if I use that connection widget to turn off the wifi and turn it back on but then it does the same thing, says i'm connected but i'm unable to use browsers/apps. The things I have tried was: Restart the phone, Reset the modem and router, factory reset the phone (Thinking it might be an app conflict), change the router channels, and I've even setup the phone for static IP.
Nothing is working and i'm at a stand still. The weird thing though is I believe my wives phone doesnt have this problem. She doesn't surf the web as much as I do but she occasionally goes onto the phone and never complains. If it helps, the router I am using is the Netgear WNR3500L. Does anybody have any ideas I can try out?

Manually set IP information on your phone and set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google). Otherwise I'd recommend checking for the latest update on the Wireless router.

I will try that and see how it is. My friend that used to work for sprint told me to disable connections optimizer as well as it has problems.
UPDATE: I thought it was working but it isn't I decided to grab my wifes phone to see if the same was happening to hers at the same time as mine and it does. Well, so it must be something wrong with my network but I'm not sure what. There's no new firmware updates either. The weird thing is, I tried my nexus 7 and my t.v.'s wifi and they both work so something is making the androids not want to stay connected or something.
Androids have this weirdness with Wi-Fi. Try disabling security.
Factory reset the router and set it back up.
I found the problem. It was intact the firmware but there was no firmware updates from net gear but then I remembered my router is open source. So I decided to try flashing tomato onto my router and now my phones aren't dropping the connection. Thanks for the help guys!

Can't get hotspot to work with vpn (lollipop)

I recently put rooted Lollipop PB1 on my SM-G900V (verizon), put AFWall+ on it, and thought all was good. However, when I restart my phone I can use wifi and VPN fine, but mobile hotspot tries and fails, even if I manually disconnect VPN first. I restart again and mobile hotspot works fine, but if I disconnect then VPN using native android interface is always "unsuccessful." I've tried OpenVPN client and PIA client instead of the native one but to no avail (I think the PIA one made it so my wifi couldn't come back on until a restart). Yes, VPN, OpenVPN and PIA are enabled in AFwall+ (wifi, mobile, vpn boxes).
It seems like restart is a toggle to use vpn, restart again to use hotspot, but not both. something wacky seems to be going on with the radios.
I suppose if I had to choose I can just restart and just use mobile hotspot and forgot about vpn, but I am just wondering if there's something obvious I've overlooked since it'd be great to be able to use both.
Thanks for reading.
It seems my network stack is messed up. With AFwall uninstalled, I'm getting DNS errors connected to wifi and/or mobile. I've unfrozen all system apps except Peel Remote, and nothing system-related is Greenified.
Changed DNS server from this tip here and rebooted. Wifi and data work now.
How could DNS have gotten corrupted? Should I just do a factory reset?
Testing to see if this fixed original problem.
Ok, the above DNS change did fix the original problem.
I restored AFwall+ from Titanium backup (app + data).
Ran wifi with VPN. Check.
Turned off VPN and ran hotspot. It tried, tried, and worked third time.
Turned hotspot off, enabled wifi, and ran VPN. "Unsuccessful."
Uninstalled AFwall+.
Wifi on, ran VPN. Fail.
Turned off wifi and ran hotspot with mobile. VPN works.
Turned off hotspot, turned off mobile, turned on wifi. VPN fails.
Restarted.
Wifi on, VPN on. "Unsuccessful" once ....then connected.
Wifi off, data on, hotspot on. Success.
Wifi on, data off, VPN? "Unsuccessful"
Try again manually. Success.
So it seems that I did something in AFwall+ that really messed up my network stack.
Is there an easy reset or fix to get things more stable again?

Hotspot Issues

Hi-
Just installed LineageOS 17.1 on my Moto G7. When I enable Hotspot, my phone loses mobile data altogether, and I can't get it back until I reboot. I can still ping google DNS servers (8.8.8.8). When I try to use Private DNS to dns.google, I get "couldn't connect". So, it seems like the hotspot is interfering with the phone's ability to resolve hostnames somehow.
Mobile data works fine all other times, and I spent a couple hours on the phone with my carrier, and there's nothing wrong on their end (phone also reports it's still connected to the LTE network).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Update:
Just did the August 16 update -- no change. Here's some more information:
When hotspot has killed internet access on mobile data:
I cannot ping any hostname (I cannot ping websitename);
I can get DNS resolution (I can resolve websitename to 172.217.9.196);
I can ping 172.217.9.196;
BUT, I can't get my browser to load a webpage with 172.217.9.196 (on my phone; it works on my computer).
I also appear to be connected to the local cell towers -- just can't get access to their internet.
None of this goes away when hotspot is turned back off, although if I turn wifi on, I can get access to internet again.
Weird stuff -- especially the DNS resolution that works but doesn't allow me to load a page.
Actually, it looks like I am NOT getting DNS resolution for sites other than google. Instead, I get something about a Canonical name ....
