[F3213] [N] Removing system apps without root

Warning up front: You can mess up your phone if you uninstall something that is needed for normal operation. Please do some research before you make any changes to your phone.
With Nougat out we can use ADB Shell on the XA Ultra to uninstall some unwanted system apps. In my case I don't really use the Sony stuff so I've uninstalled most of it. On a couple of apps that I do want installed but I don't want them running in the background I've used appops to prevent them from running in the background. I feel like my battery life has doubled since I did this. The amount of available memory has certainly increased.
I'm not making a full guide here since there are many out there already but here is the gist:
Put your phone in developer mode (tap on build number 7 times) and then enable USB debugging. Connect your phone to your computer with USB cable.
Use ADB on your computer to open a shell from the windows command prompt: ADB Shell. Tutorial on installing ADB here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266638
Within the shell you can list packages to see what you might want to uninstall with this command:
pm list packages -d
You'll get a long list of all the packages on your phone. I copied that list out of the shell into an editor and then added the uninstall commands below to certain ones to uninstall them. Here's what I've uninstalled with no ill effect (formatted for easy cut and paste):

For apps that I want to keep installed but I don't want them running in the background I used this format: "cmd appops set {package name] RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore"
For example:
cmd appops set net.zedge.android RUN_IN_BACKGROUND ignore
That was for Zedge. I still have Zedge installed on the phone in case I want to get some incredibly annoying ringtone to use during the third hour of our weekly hour long project review. I just don't want Zedge doing things on my phone when I'm not looking at it.
In developer options on your phone there's a running services section that is good to check for things that might need to be ignored using the above command. You can try killing something that is running here first to see if it messes with things you might want (like hangouts - I need mine running in the background).
I'm sure there were more packages I could have uninstalled but I was looking for mild gain with minimal risk.
I did this to the Xperia XA Ultra F3213 but I'm pretty sure it will be very similar on other models.

now as per your thread i was jus following to uninstall the system apps . but aft running the command i get only few apps

just remove the '' - d " from the commandline " pm list packages - d"
nothing will be lost if you try

it will not go. it will simply disable from the user.. try factory reset it will comeback.

image enhancements are not much great on our xa ultra, we can manually make it look like over saturated by changing white balance...
i dont know about any working drm fix

[VZW] XT1767: Possible Safestrap?

So, everyone remembers the VZW Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (i605)? I have one I got second hand that had already taken the fatal-final-OTA update that permalocked the bootloader down.. however, I have still rooted and installed Safestrap recovery and damn-near fully customised and tweaked it to my liking(custom boot animation, room slots active, etc)..Well, what about a possible Safestrap-style recovery that could run without root permissions by running some sort of workaround-script?....or would root access still be inevitably needed? Perhaps have the Safestrap recovery create a fully-functioning isolated with admin privileges, something similar to the Island Sandbox Experiment app?

I don't think it would be possible, bootloader's have become super secure in the past 4 years.

What about possibly using ADB to manually install a superuser APK file and also using ADB commands like 'pm grant ....... WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS' to manually enable the permissions and privileges required for installing an SU binary?

That's a good idea if it works. I was able to remove all the Verizon apps from the phone using adb commands.

I believe that this procedure actually only disables the apps, although it appears that they are uninstalled. It is my understanding that a factory reset will re-enable/re-install all the apps. Read about half-way down this page.

Debloating the t590 stock rom

For those that want to slim down what's running on your 590 stock rom, this is a starter list I just created.
It's by no means comprehensive, let's hope people can add to it and we'll eventually have a good list people can use if they desire.
Please note, you are doing this at your own risk, meaning some packages, once removed, may affect the device such that it can't be booted! Then the only solution is to restore to factory defaults. So don't just go willy nilly uninstalling things without any idea what they do!
So the first thing I did was run:

This will list all packages and their associated file. There are additional options which show only disabled or enabled etc. But this gave me all I needed.
This next command will uninstall the package for user "0", since most of us only have one user with the device, it's all we need. Keep in mind, the package is still on the drive (taking up space), but it's not installed, so there won't be any notices about updating it etc.

The above will (obviously) remove the chrome browser, which is something I always do, and install lineage Jelly browser. Just my preference - it's much more minimalist and I rarely use a browser on a tablet anyway.
** IF ** you do uninstall something and later want it back, one option (other than factory reset) would be the 'Solid Explorer' on the playstore, it can look at 'root' and reinstall packages.
Lastly, be sure to understand, I'm not telling anyone to do anything, you do any of this at your own risk. Don't blame me if you uninstall a package and then later it messes up your system. I'm merely suggesting this is something you can do, if you want to take on the risk.
That said, this is a list of packages I uninstalled using a linux bash script. My device booted properly afterwards and all is behaving normally, also I think it cut my installed apps almost in half! When I did the update to the latest security patch it optimized 66 apps! That's way too much for a minimalist like me, I don't need anywhere near that many apps installed.

Bootloop after debloat

Hi folks.
I want to debloat my device as much as possible (also the google services). But since I debloatet it, the device tooks minutes to boot but before entering the system it reboots into recovery. So I guess I debloatet some important thing, but I dont know which one. Can you tell me which one?

One I removed the security app and my phone didn't booted again. It might be the problem if you have removed that.

I didn't remove anything. The phone worked fine when I set it on the charger last night before bed, and when I woke up it's stuck in a bootloop. I got to recovery and did a factory reset multiple times, but it's still bootlooping. Can anybody help me restore this phone somehow, please?

Thanks. It seems promising, but I can only get to the point where it says, "Waiting for the device to be on and with usb debugging enabled. Please enable usb debugging on your device."
Problem is.... I tried a factory reset through the stock recovery first, so that reset the ADB allowance setting and I can't boot at all to enable it. Is there a way to do this only through fastboot without booting/ADB?

Don't know what to do with it.
This tool doesn't work and the official MIFlash tool doesn't work since there is no EEA fastboot ROM. When I try the Global fastboot ROM, it give me an error.
Problem is my bootloader is locked. There is no way to unlock it now!

Very interesting, did a full reset from stock recovery works and restore all deleted bloatware too. Oh well, got to start over again and this time got to get my bootloader unlocked before messing with it.

Edit: It should be, I haven't tried it, but I think it's possible.
However, if you really want to get the answer and aren't afraid to format your phone, then you have to try. It's the best way to learn

If you had a problem with the settings, to display the list of installed applications, it is now fixed.
I try to update the list as much as possible, and every day, to get to know each application better.
I will follow up on this tutorial, showing how to debloat Realme UI via Terminal Emulator (rooted devices only).

First, download the ADB drivers from here! (official link)
After downloading it, extract the content from it. You will normally get a folder.
Open the folder and inside, create a new .txt document. Change the extension of the document to .bat.

You have completed the preparation of the Platform Tools SDK.

Now connect your phone to your computer (USB, Type-c, etc...), select the file transfer option. then go to the "About phone" section.
Go to the "Version" section.
Press your "Build number" until a message appears telling you that you are now a developer.
Once these settings have been activated, go to the "Additional Settings" category then go into "Developer options" and turn on "USB debugging".
You have finished this step, you can move on to the next one!

If you only want to deactivate an apk instead of uninstalling it, just delete

Is there anything in that list relating to work profiles? I ran most of the list up there and it appears to have locked my work profile (I use Island). The phone restarts after a few seconds if I tap the notification to unlock it.
Deleted the work profile and reinstalled Island but it restarted again when setting up the work profile. The phone is also really sluggish as long as a work profile exists.
Oh, I assume it's a bad idea to remove Gmail (com.google.android.gm) since it isn't mentioned, right?

Deleted the work profile and reinstalled Island but it restarted again when setting up the work profile. The phone is also really sluggish as long as a work profile exists.
Oh, I assume it's a bad idea to remove Gmail (com.google.android.gm) since it isn't mentioned, right?
